I don't have a pic, but they removed the old tanker wagon thing next to the playground outside trails end about an hour ago. Talked with the guys working and they said it was getting run down. They didn't know what if anything was going to replace it.

Noooooo! Maybe they could just refurbish it?

Srsly? It looked pretty spiffy in November.

Sheesh is it just me or does it seems like the FW icons are being removed bit by bit?

I guess we were lucky they bothered to save the old water tower for the pool slide! ...even if they goofed on the logo. ;)

A while back I noticed that the covered wagon in front of the Outpost looked like new, new paint on the wheels, wood was fresh, new canvas. I don't know if it had been removed for that or not, but I hope that is the case with the tank.

Bring back the tanker wagon and put a Musket Mickey on it.

Maybe they'll replace it with a beer wagon. :confused3

Tony,

You've done it again. Another great picture. Interesting how the wheels are made. And I wonder who does their brake work? Anyone know if this is a genuine relic or a fabrication of the Disney staff?

It was still there in December but it is no longer really a tree. More like a tall stump. The sign is still there and you can still see part of the lawn mower sticking out at the bottom.

The lawnmower tree is just a rotting stump now, maybe three feet tall.

And as far as the tanker, it's possible they removed it for refurbishment and didn't tell the men moving it what the plans are. I hope that is the case. They did leave the fencing in place, so it would seem something will be there.

When I was there one night the wagon in front of the Settlement Trading Post vanished about a month later it showed up again looking shiny and brand new. So I hope Disney is refurbishing it and I hope they put logos back on it. Because it looks like sh*t just plan

Ok, on my last day at the Fort I decided to do my best TCD impersonation and go snooping.

My wife had said she saw the men removing the tanker drag it back behind the Settlement Trading Post. So, I walked around the back of the building. There is a large fenced in area back there. Secured by this gate:

Yes, the gate was open slightly. So I strolled back into the yard, and sure enough, there sat the tanker, looking not too bad in my opinion.

So, as of Friday evening, it hadn't moved too far. And considering they did not remove the fencing that circled it near the playground, maybe they are just going to spruce the tanker up and put it back here:

I wonder if the tree died or if Disney just decided to cut it off. Every year the tree grew you saw less & less of the lawnmower. I don't remember from my last trip in November if it still had the sign on it with the tale of how it became to be.

i saw the lawnmower tree before it was cut. The tree had some kind of boring insects all around it. The last next time i visited it was cut down and there are signs of the insects on the remaining stump.

Dave, thanks for the updates, and photos. We'll keep hoping that they bring it back out.
Now it's up to anyone of you there at FW, to keep us posted if you see anything!:3dglasses

The otters had stolen all their beer and they were waiting on another shipment to come in, so they figured, "Hey, there is this tree here....instead of beer, let's eat this tree until those stupid otters replace our beer stash..."

I heard this straight from a bus driver.:teacher:

Wow, that's funny and sad all at the same time. It's sad to see this happen to a landmark, but at least it's still sort of there. I don't feel that badly about it even though I made a special trip just to see it 2005... the tree had grown a lot and it just wasn't as exciting as it was 20 years ago.
