We just got off of the Wonder last week and while onboard we rebooked for the Disney Dream next spring break. I hope others will be joining us for this sailing! I can't wait to see the new ship :-)

Wonderful! Nice to see someone else joining us. We will have twin DD (17 at that time) joining us, going to The Vibe (I believe that is the name of the new teen club).

We have 2 dd who will be 8 and 11 next March. It's our dds first cruise. Dh and I did a Carnival cruise 5 years ago. I am looking forward to the new ship.

Thanks!

And I think we are going to have a really full ship. Last night I noticed that they only have Cat. 8 or higher left! And it is almost a year away. And main dining is completely booked.

I'm excited (even though we are still a year away).

We were hoping that it wouldn't be that full with spring breaks starting the next week. Our girls go to school year round, this will be the first week of their spring break.

I am debating moving to late dinner. DDs aren't little but I was a little worried about the time change and the late dinner starting at 9pm our time. I think I will give a family with younger kids a chance to eat dinner earlier.

We booked a 5d stateroom, I don't remember what was left when we booked, but I think everything was and that was at the beginning of the month. Dh wanted a verandah and I wanted to be in the middle of the ship. We will be close to the kids club which will be good since the girls will be allowed to check themselves in and out.

Spring break is different at different places. This will be our spring break, and we were on this same cruise a couple weeks ago and a lot of teens from Tennessee were in the teen club with them, and last year we took this same cruise and a lot of teens from Canada were there on spring break,
and the time before it was Texas).

Late dining is good if you are planning to get off of the ship and go on excursions at Nassau and if you want to stay late on Castaway Cay. And if the kids get hungry there is food on the top deck (I assume it will be like this on the Dream too), so they could get something there to hold them over (or order room service).

If you aren't sure about later dining, hold it and you can switch even when you get on the ship. The hard part is switching to early from late.

But, as I said, if you are planning on being out and doing things at port until late afternoon, you may want late dining. When we were on the 7 night cruises we preferred late dining for that reason. But on the 4 night, we don't get off at Nassau and at Castaway Cay we are back on by 4:00, so that isn't a problem.

Around here most schools have spring break the third and fourth weeks of March. So when we start break nobody else it out. I guess its different in different parts of the country. Its to cold and raining here the first half of March to really enjoy spring break. Just now becoming spring.:flower3:

Erin

westjones
03-23-2010, 10:59 AM
It is too cold here, but my kids go to a Lab school run by a university, so we have break the same as the university. The rest of the schools in our area has break this week (which is still too cold, but better than the week we had).

I will say, this year on the cruise, the weather was a bit cool (but still nice). Florida was really COLD! BUT.....last year, on this same cruise (on these dates) the weather was PERFECT! So let's hope it will be like that next year. Regardless, I am sure we will have a wonderful time!

Dear Westjones,

Thanks for starting this thread. I do agree it seems that this cruise will be full. I originally booked March 13. I work at a University and that would have been our spring break. Living in the Northeast, it seems most colleges are out during the 3rd week in March and elementary and secondary education go out near Easter. I changed to March 6 because there was a $300 difference for a cat 9 room. I assumed that it wouldn't be that crowded - oh well. I will just be happy to be on the ship.

We have late dining. It worked out well for us last time. We aren't usually home until 6pm so main dining would be too early for us.

Are either of you interested in doing a FE?

westjones
03-24-2010, 09:09 AM
We probably won't do the FE (now that you pay for baggage on the planes, I make us travel very light), but I am sure there will be lots of others that will. If I had young kids I would do it because it would be so much fun for them (but I have teenagers).

After Christmas will be a good time to get the FE list going. Basically everyone who wants to do it will post their room number and everyone doing it will print out a list and go from there. By that time there will be a lot more people on our Dis Meet.

madmom1030
03-25-2010, 08:08 AM
I am not sure abour FE. Depending on what airline that we fly and how our trip works out. We may add time at the world before or after. My dh wants to visit spring training next year and catch a couple of games that the Cardinals are playing in. So extra space may be limited.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I just looked at the Disney Cruise website and it looks like the prices are really going up for this cruise. If you have friends or family wanting to join they probably shouldn't wait too long. The three night before and after us isn't bad, but this one must be booking up fast. Glad I have my prices locked in!

madmom1030
03-25-2010, 11:52 AM
Its just us going. Dh husband thinks its strange the way Disney prices its cruises, before we booked I kept telling him we need to make a decision before prices go up. He thinks they should get cheaper the closer we get not more expensive. We booked one year out, people think we are crazy for planning a vacation a year from now, but I know that its has to be done to get a good price.

myself and my 14 year old {he will be 15 then} are booked on this cruise. we are also booked on the march 10 btb to make it a seven day cruise. when time comes closer ill see if we can do both or we may just cancel the 3 day and do a day at wdw after. really glad ive booked both because they said both sailings very full already. they did manage to get me the same stateroom number on both sailings but it sure wasnt easy. they worked a long time to do it. also just in 7 days the price of both cruises seems to have gone up. im glad i did it when i did. hope to get to know all of you and the closer we get can make some plans for the dis group for this cruise. anyone else from canada?we are from new brunswick.

I have a friend and her son (who will be 17) that are cruising with us who are originally from Canada (but now live here in the US).

I can't wait to see the new teen area (hope they late parents in on the first day, that is what they did on the wonder, and after that we couldn't go in). But I want to see it!

It is so hard to believe the cruise if filling up so fast so early!

Just booked this March 6 DREAM cruise today. It will be my DH and myself. This will be our 9th cruise on DCL. Our friends ,Big Turkey, are on this cruise and so we had to go !!! We have 2nd seating, waitlisted for 1st .

An idea about the FE. Our Baltic cruise that we are going on in July had a good idea. One gift to each cabin. Then those with kids, who want to, can exchange kids' names ,ages, cabin #'s for a Kids FE .

In Feb I had to bring an extra suitcase just for my FE gifts ! I really don't want to do it again next year. Plus we don't have young kids anymore. But to give out a small gift to each cabin would be fun.

HI ! My Canada friends !!

We are taking our first DC on the Wonder on 7/30/10 and then on this sailing on 3/6/11. I wonder how the Dream will compare to Royal Carribeans Freedom of the Seas as we took that cruise the end of April and that ship was awesome!

westjones

If you like Disney you will love Disney Cruises and I can't wait to see the Dream. But I think the RC ships look very nice and have a lot to do (like ice skating), but on the Disney ships you have the 'magic' that only Disney can provide. That is why we can't bring ourselves to try any other cruise line.

I can't wait until our March cruise! I am so excited for the new ship :)

I agree with Westjones. I have cruised on RCL twice and then I did the Wonder in December. It was wonderful especially with a little one. I can't wait until March 2011. We are officially under the 6 month mark!!!!! I am booking a 7 day cruise on the magic for Nov 2011. It is pretty amazing!

Hi All,

My DW and I just booked this cruise last week. Our friends dropped out of April so we moved it to be a my Birthday cruise! We can't wait to be on the Dream. This will be the first part of our 7 day back to back.

Our Spring break in Nova Scotia is two weeks in February this year due to hosting the Canada Games. I think everyone I talk to is heading to Florida/Disney! Glad we are not going at that time. Most other Atlantic Provinces are the second or third week in March.

Chad J.

This will be our 1st B2B cruise ! It will be me,Gina and DH Bruce along with my MIL & SIL for this cruise. Then just me & DH on the 3-day. This will also be my birthday....but as empty nesters, who's counting !! :rotfl2:

I'm going to wait and see closer to the time about the weather as far as excursions go. I'd love to go to the waterpark at Atlantis. We've been to the aquarium there and it's great. Definitely worth going to. Everything is very expensive. We ordered 2 mimosas...$32 !! :scared1: We were going to eat lunch there, but ended up back on the ship for burgers.

If you haven't been to Nassau go to the market, but be ready to bargain. The Pirate museum is very good. We did the dolphin tour with the Granddaughters one year and that was alot of fun. There's a couple of hotels that offer day rates.

See you on the ship !:dance3:

Hello fellow cruisers!!
Looking forward to this cruise! :boat: :cool1:
We are Canadians from out west in Alberta.
This is our 2nd cruise with DCL.
We are celebrating a very special event on this cruise, the 3rd anniversary of DD's princess: last chemotherapy treatment in Feb 2008.
A 2nd celebration is our 9th anniversary at the end of the month.

We switched to this cruise from the 7d Western on the Magic, as we wanted to save some $$ for our 6 days at the park @ the Caribbean Beach Club.

We are not interested in doing the FE thing, sorry... with luggage weights and restrictions and all the stuff we need to bring along for a 12 day trip...

But yeah! This is gonna be fun peeps!!!:cheer2:

Honestly, I think it may be hard to get first dining this time because in March when I made my reservation I got 1st dining and a week later (mid March) our friends decided to join us and they were waitlisted for 1st dining. Now since then they have been moved to first dining, but I was surprised that at almost a year from this cruise they were already all booked for first dining.

Have you asked to be waitlisted yet? And I am not sure then the buses arrive, but I think it is mid afternoon. I know it is later than when we drive ourselves and we are there when they open.

You could always used a Limo service to take you there earlier so you could have a better chance of switching.

Oh and WELCOME! I am so excited about this cruise. I can't wait to see the Dream :)

And what a wonderful thing to celebrate !!!!
I would suggest taking a limo from the hotel to the pier if you want to board as soon as possible to try and change your dining seating. We have taken Tiffiney Town Car many times. It would be $110 + tip from the Caribbean Beach to Port Canaveral. Possibly cheaper than the bus x 3 people.:flower3:

I think you will really like POR. My girls liked it SO much better there than CBR. And one cool thing is there is a boat to take you to DTD if you want to go there (nice place to hang out the first night you arrive).

And at PO you can used both themed pools (the one at POFQ and POR). The food court is great there too. And it is just beautiful there!

Would you please help me with any info on booking at the MCO Hyatt the night before the cruise? This past April, we took the 6:00am flight out of Pensacola, which means we were up at 3:00am! This time we thought we would fly out the day before, so we could enjoy the first night at sea a little more:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Well we just booked a Hyatt "day room" for $89.00.
It will be somewhere to go and hang out after Mickey:smickey::donald::tinker: and the gang kick us off the ship and before our late flight at 7pm.
They let you have the room from 10:00 until 6:00 pm if anyone else is needing this kind of stopover.
We thought of going to DTD, butjust did not want to have to deal with luggage and stuff.

We like arriving the night before... then we have no worries about something going wrong. The Radisson includes parking with the cost of the room and has a shuttle to the ship. There are some great restaurants at the port we enjoy before the cruse.

Unless your flight gets in late, you may want to consider driving over to port and staying there the night before. You can rent a car (we use Budget) and return it at port.

Now some people like to stay over at Disney the night before. And it is nice to go to Downtown Disney if you have time. But we like staying at Port so we can sleep in and not rush to get to the ship.

This year we won't be doing this because we are flying in on Friday and going to Disney on Saturday. But if we were flying in on Saturday, we would go over to Port as long as our flight got in by 7:00 pm. Later than that, we would probably consider the Hyatt (which is VERY nice, we have stayed there twice and liked it......this will be our 11th cruise, so we have tried different ways of doing this).

We have done both, the Radisson near the pier and the MCO Hyatt. The cost is pretty much the same. If you stay at the Raddison you'll rent a car ; if you stay at the Hyatt ,you'll get bus transfers.

We just went online and booked our MCO Hyatt room. Be sure to note that you'll be doing the Disney cruise the next day.

Since it's early March we chose the Hyatt over the Radisson because we weren't sure if it would be warm enough to swim that evening . If it were late spring or summer we'd probably stay at the Radisson. The pool is wonderful !

Let me know if you need anymore info about the Hyatt & the transfer the next am. :flower3:

We live in Florida, se we will be driving. I hate to pay for parking at the port. For about the same amount we get a room the night before and relax and enjoy the day before the cruise.

We really want to hit a beach and get our cold Canadian toes (& other parts...:lmao:) into the sand. As a past travel agent I would love to go see Atlantis and all of that amazing resort... but our goal is to get some beach time... Any suggestions on that???

If you've never seen Atlantis then go there. If you want to go on your own it's so easy . Take a taxi to Atlantis. At the hotel you can purchase tickets for the aquarium. It's so cool...underground. Then when you're finished I'd look around the hotel, then head to the beach. I wouldn't eat lunch at Atlantis as it's so expensive ! You could take the taxi back to the ship for lunch OR , 1 idea is go out to Cable Beach to the Wyndham Hotel/ Sheraton. You can get a day pass pretty cheap and they have a great place to get a burger right on the beach. We were there a year ago and I think the pass was $15 / pp and you could use both hotel pools.
Another option is to do the ships' tour to Atlantis, convienient but expensive. OR plan 3... go to Atlantis and afterwards go to the public beach nearby. You could probably walk or get another taxi. Taxi's are cheap in Nassau.

Just some ideas !:flower3:

Hey Everyone: Am I on the correct thread-where are all the fellow Louisiana Mardi Gras refugee's? We booked this cruise last Mardi Gras while on board the 7 day that turned into a 6 day cruise (long story)! Anyway, we are 2 adults, 17,(senior-boy), 14 (eighth grade boy), and 12 (seventh grade girl)-all crammed into a 4A somewhere on deck 10-we usually have two SPH rooms-so, we'll see how well we all travel together. Someone let me know if this is not the Mardi Gras Cruise:goodvibes

Did you just book? I thought I saw on the disneycruise.com website they only had Cat. 4s left. I think our ship is almost full!

Nice to see another teen! I have twin daughters who are also 17 (Juniors) and they will probably be in the teen club a lot. I loved it last year on the Wonder. It is nice they have a place for the younger teens to hang out now on the Dream. That is something we missed on when my girls were 14 (we didn't cruise that year because I didn't want them in with the older teens).

Welcome!

Thanks! We booked when silvers were allowed to call in for the Dream and then converted it to onboard bookings last Mardi Gras. At that time we had two cabins on this cruise and the 3 day following it-but I "borrowed" two cabins to book Alaska and squeezed us all into one 4A about a month or two ago...How old are your teens-my 17 year old is very shy -the 14 year old is the opposite and my daughter is a combination of the two!

My twins just turned 17 and they are Juniors this year. They have been sailing on the DCL since they were 5. We just skipped the year they were 14 because I didn't want them in with the older teens. But at 15 and 16 they loved the teen club and hopefully will again this year.

My girls are twins, but they don't look alike and their personalities are very different. One is quieter (not shy, but quiet) and very athletic and the other is talkative and outgoing (a cheerleader).

My 16 year old (he's a junior this year) opted to stay home and go on a school trip-he liked the teen clubs-my oldest one didn't. They all tease each other so much-it's just too hard for them to interact while their siblings are around...

Based on my first FE exchange this past April, it was really nice to get ideas about what the kids liked (gum, candy, etc.) and were into. If I may make a suggestion. 1 gift per cabin

Maybe the cabin's with kids could exchange kids' gifts also.

Maybe we're the only "couple". :confused3 If that's the case, I'd be happy to give to the kids as well. :thumbsup2

We booked our flights, hotel and car (to and from). Just need to pay the cruise off to make it official! Anyone looking at future cruises?

I plan on booking the Fantasy while on board if I am able to. It's a catch 22 though because I can get CM rates on the Fantasy that are probably cheaper than the on board rates. I'll have to figure that out as time goes on.

edit: Grandma is new to cruising and I am silver CC. I've been on a 3, 4, and 7 night, doing another 4 night on the wonder in Dec(PCC 2.0) and then the Dream and looking forward to the Fantasy!

Hi,

We are also joining you on March 6th. We are a family of 4 with a 17 year old daughter and a 9 year old son. It's the trip my daughter picked for her graduation!
We had booked B2B with the 10th cruise, but we ended up cancelling the
10th portion in favor of going to the parks. The having to get off the ship and back on even though we had the same cabins was the deciding factor. We really didn't wan't to "waste" that day sitting in the port and going through boarding again.
Anyway - it opened up 2 connecting family oceanview cabins on the 10th for some family who was waiting to go!

On Princess we did the inside cabins and then spoiled ourselves with a balcony on the Magic and will probably always go with one in the future. Especially with the younger kiddos... it is nice to have somewhere to go hang out when it it naptime!! She is no longer a "napper" but you never know with all the excitement and fun it just might happen!
So a bigger balcony would definitley be a plus!!! Do you think you feel more motion in the aft cabins??? I know when we were in some rough seas the dinners in the restaurants we went to were "interesting" ...lol

For the cruisers that are wanting to participate in the FE gift exchange, if you would please let me know who you are, I can start a list for everyone else. It would also be really helpful if you are traveling with kids, to let me know their ages and what they are into. It makes it easier to find the perfect gifts (at least for me it does)!:dance3:

LOL The flights coming home are super expensive. Anyway, if we go then it will be me, dh and my 7 year old dd. I wish our final payment wasn't due till after the maiden voyage. Is anyone anxious about it being a larger boat and being sold out? I need a RELAXING vacation!

Not worried at all. Disney really knows how to handle crowds. I will be excited to read the trip reports from the early DREAM cruisers ! A larger ship doesn't concern me. BUT I would never want to go on the Epic...that's too big !

Good Evening Everyone,
Just thought I would check in and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Where I live, Mobile, Alabama, we are still in shorts and t-shirts.
Cindy

We will participate in the FE exchange. Just me (Gina) and dh (Bruce), Cabin # 6688  Thanks for organizing it !:flower3:

All I know is we did the 4 day cruise 2 years ago that was sold out and it was on the smaller ship and there was lots of waiting for character lines. We had a great time but I was under the impression that there was a lot less standing in line for things you wanted to do on the boat and it wasn't the case when we went 2 years ago. Now we have a bigger boat and it makes me wonder. Not worried at all. Disney really knows how to handle crowds. I will be excited to read the trip reports from the early DREAM cruisers ! There is a way to beat the character lines. In the Daily Navigator it tells when and where and which characters will appear. Just plan on being there a feew minutes early. Also, you can call from your cabin to check on the charadters' appearances.

Yeah, we did do that. We still waited. Sometimes Mickey and Minnie were 2 separate lines too, so you would have to wait in one and then go wait in the other. I mean I was led to believe that the characters where everywhere and they were more accessible then at WDW but we waited about as much on the boat as we do in the parks. Plus they do close the lines just like at WDW. It also required some orchestrating to get to do the activities that my dd wanted to do in the kids club, the shows and the dinners. I just wonder if it is going to be more of an issue with lots more people. Our previous cruise was also a sold out one.

Thanks for stepping up ! :cheer2: The FE is always fun. Other than getting a list of names and cabin #'s, not much else to it.

If I may make a suggestion. 1 gift per cabin

Maybe the cabin's with kids could exchange kids' gifts also.

Maybe we're the only "couple". :confused3 If that's the case, I'd be happy to give to the kids as well. :thumbsup2

If you do a search on the Disboards for organizing the FE you might get more info. :surfweb:

I did it the first time last December. It was one gift per child and then one gift for the adults in the room but as a group we can decide to do it anyway we would like. I do have to tell you that it was exciting to come back to a room with a full FE. It was also fun running around with my daughter delivering gifts.

If I did this right, here is the info for the FE exchange.

We have always given gifts to each cabin participating and each child one time.If you end up with ,say, 20 cabins, there's no way you could do it more than once. Esp with the airlines luggage restrictions.

It is alot of fun, even for couples w/o kids !!

I believe jestergypsy is organizing the FE. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know everyone is busy now with the holidays, but hopefully ,after New Years we'll get a list of who's participating.

This is more info about what the FE is all about

I have organized several FE Exchanges, so here is my best explanation whenever someone asks:

Beside every cabin door is a large silver fish with an indentation in the back for cruise personnel to leave information, invitations, etc. Teenagers receive invitations to Teen Club activities and we've also received "rebooking onboard" price quotes tucked in our fish.

DISboarders have taken the silver fish one step further... by creating hanging pockets (much like cloth letter holders) to hang from the fish - thus the name, "Fish Extender". The Fish Extenders (FEs) can be made of practically anything (cloth, plastic, paper gift bags, etc.), as long as they have at least one pocket that can hold surprises. My FE is just a plain old canvas bag on which I've added a tropical scene, the names of the Disney ships, and our names. I'd love to have a "real" FE like some of the creative DISers have sewn, but I've never taken the time to attempt to make one.

Then, each "Cruise Meets" thread organizes a little gift exchange during the cruise. People sign up for their particular cruise by giving their cabin number, names of everyone in their cabin, and ages of the kids so that everyone will know how many goodies to bring and where to deliver them. Some people give one gift per family, some people give a little gift to each person. It's totally up to the giver to decide what to give and when to give it during the cruise.

There are several threads on the main cruise boards that discuss ideas for FE gifts. Some gifts are from Dollar Stores, some are handmade, and some are bought in bulk from websites that sell trinkets like the Oriental Trading Company, and some are quite elaborate. Often, they are stickers, candy, glow sticks, lanyards, etc., with themes such as pirates, beach, cruise, tropical, hometown, holiday, etc. The main idea is just to have fun finding little goodies in your FE throughout the cruise. Kids LOVE running back to their cabin to see if anything's been left in their FE. As an adult, I have to admit that I love it, too!!!

This thread has tons of info and ideas about FE Gift Exchanges: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

I speak from personal experience that it really is a LOT of fun to participate!

This is a great summary. I love it too! I was even more surprised at my DH. He asked if we were going to do it again. I made my FE but I think this time, I am going to order one.

So I just want to get this correct, when you did the FE exchange, you did one gift per cabin AND one gift per child? That is fine with me. I understands people's concerns with flying. Lucky JetBlue allows 1 checked bag for free per person.

Yes, that is how we did it, but there are no rules. Whatever the group wants to do is fine. Another option is to give 1 gift per cabin and something all the kids could share. If we only have 20 cabins, there shouldn't be a problem.

If you do a search for FE gift ideas, there's alot of suggestions.

Still hoping that we will get the earlier dining rotation.... The later meal times probably means that we will not see the insides of the dining rooms for a meal!! UGH!
I guess we will see some of the shows at 5pm and them go to the buffet restuaurant(s) whatever they are called on the Dream.
I do hope to change our spots once on board, but being that we are coming on Disney Magical Express from the resorts I am sure all the keen kids;) will have already been to make the available changes.... fingers crossed.
We are getting closer guys!!:goodvibes

Hello, everyone. Are you counting the days?! We are.
This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise...and we can't wait to go home to Castaway Cay. Our 6 yo son and 11 1/2 yo daughter still talk non-stop about how much fun they had on the Wonder 2 years ago.....The kids will have a blast and making new friends will be easy aboard the Dream.

So! Don't be shy! Introduce yourselves. Are we planning a sail away deck meetup?

Going to eat at Remy. *shrieks*
BTW, Disney has been great so far. We're vegetarians and we've never had any issues with the menus. Called about Remy and the same thing applies; they will work around dietary needs.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my friends on the DISboards!!!!! By the looks of previous posts, there are alot of people interested in the FE! Since this is my first time organizing a FE, I am open to suggestions. One suggestion, if everyone interested in participating in the FE would send me a private message letting me know who you are, what cabin you're in, the names of your party with their ages, etc.; then I can compile a complete list for everyone. What do you think????:woohoo:

Hi Stacy,

The FE exchange is where people in different cabins give treats to the other participating cabins. It is SO much fun!!!!! My family and I went on our first Disney Cruise last year and had a blast. It adds to the whole experience when you come to your cabin and find treats waiting on you:woohoo: I don't know who had more fun, me or my daughter who was 10 at the time. The gifts can be made if you are crafty or bought. It was really neat to get gifts from other parts of the country! As for me, I gave Mardi Gras treats since I was from Mobile, AL, and ALABAMA Crimson Tide cups and New Orleans Saints playing cards, etc. I hope I gave you some insight, but I would happy to answer any questions you have:banana:

PS The official purpose of the FE is the place where you receive mail.

If anyone sees a mistake, just let me know and I will correct it. If there are more people interested in the FE Gift Exchange, just send me a message and I will add you to the list. On a personal note, family with children, if you would let us know what they are into, it makes it easier to get age appropiate gifts!

Please keep in mind this is the first time I have organized a FE Exchange, so please go easy on me!!!!!:goodvibes

Hey there no worries.. Becca is turning 13 on March 5th-she likes the run of the mill teen/tween stuff-and as for characters- Mickey,Minnie, and Tink. Hi Joanne & Josh !!

Just 53 more days...can you believe !? It will be soooooooo good to get back on a Disney ship with our friends !! :grouphug: We'll have to explore this great big beautiful ship together ! Did you decide on your Nassau morning ?

Welcome to all our new friends that we'll be sailing with ! :welcome:
Especially to the 1st time cruisers !! That 1st cruise....what a thrill I remember. I guess this is our 30th cruise...10 with DCL and the thrill is still there ! Some of our happiest moments are on a cruise, and especially on Disney, who brings the best service afloat with classy casualness and a whole lot of fun for ALL ages !! If you've been on other cruise lines, you'll soon discover why you may pay a little more. Out of 8 cruise lines...IMHO,
Disney is best ! :thumbsup2

Since we are not required to bring our life jackets to the safety drill, we could meet prior to the drill at the Bon Voyage Bar on Deck 3 around 3:30 ???

I plan to wear a lime green Tee.
Home Depot has Mickey shaped
lime green paint sample cards
that some get, laminate, punch
a hole in it and put it on their

Hi, We are new to the FE exchange and are really excited to contribute! Not sure on one thing though, do we bring something for the stateroom as a whole or something for each person in the room? Thanks!

Hi !
You can do whatever you want. I like to make my FE, and I make 1 for each cabin and then give some inexpensive things to the kids. With a small group, like we have, I buy things according to age & gender. I get things from Oriental Trader, or from the $ rack at Michaels or Target. I would guess, including the materials for my cabin homemade FE and the kids I have spent about $75.

But to keep the price down and save on suitcase space ( I refuse to pay for an extra suitcase) 1 gift per cabin is totally fine ! I just get carried away...just ask my husband !!:rotfl2:

Hope this helps !
See you soon !!

You are absolutely right. We did say at some point that Feb 6 would be the cut-off. So welcome to the FE !! I'm sure Cindy will add you to the FE list. I have you on mine. Are there any kids, if so what is the gender and age ?

Thanks thats why DIS people are family. This is our first cruise ever. We are in room 7080. I'm Glenn, Deann my wife and Sophie is our four year old daughter. We have found something made in Nashville TN to share. Also we plan to be at the meet and greet before the safety meeting; I'll have my DIS unplugged shirt on at that point. I'm the one that can not get enough Disney. Thanks again last night Deann was just saying how fun the FE will be.

I look forward to meeting you guys. I grew up in Nashville. I see you're in the music industry. I'll tell you a little trivia...
when I was in the 3rd grade Hank Williams Jr sat behind me .We always had our end of the year class parties at the Williams' house. Well now, I guess that dates me !:rotfl2:

:banana:Got our Mickey Mail last night!!! So exciting.... I love mail from the mouse!
Looks like we are still second seating for supper, so that really sucks as I doubt the 6 year old can wait until 8:00 to eat.... sigh. Oh well... not long now guys!!
We are almost on our way!!!

Have you heard about the program for second seating where the kids club counselors come to the dining room and take the kids to the clubs after they've had their dinner. The waiters will bring the child's dinner at the same time they bring your appetizer. Then they can go play while you finish your dinner.

Another idea is to feed the kids on the pool deck...lots of options up there, or room service. Then take your child to dinner with you at 8:00 and they can have their dessert while you have your appetizer or salad then go with the counselors to the club.

Just a suggestion :thumbsup2

Don't worry too much. On our last sure we have the 8pm seating. We would give Amaya a snack (apples, carrots). Things with fiber that would hold her off till dinner. She did well. While second seating is late, i found we didn't feel as rushed as if dinner was earlier.

Thanks for the replies Scrappycruiser and Fatima. I guess I just have this itinerary in my head of how supper and entertainment is supposed to go. Typically we get supper out of the way and then move on to the entertainment and stay as long as the kiddo lasts...
Hopefully with her being a little older than last time it will not be the trainwreck :rolleyes1 I am anticipating!
I just have to remember, deep breath and go with the flow... Oh... and try to change our plans as soon as we board...:lmao:

Spoke with a Cast member today. She said they are just trying to get an idea about how many buses they'll need. I had called because I couldn't get the same port time for my MIL and SIL. She said it didn't matter.

Hi All!
First Disney Cruise-been booked for 1 year. Very excited. We are from New Orleans and can't wait to escape the Mardi Gras Madness!! Me and my SIL are bringing our kids. Been on many Carnival cruises and was told I'll never want to go back to Carnival once we experience Disney!

New to the Disboards! Just found out about fish exchange yesterday. I know the cut off is today. If I made it in time, we would love to participate.

Did you happen to update the FE Exchange List? If so, THANKS! I was getting ready to make the updates and saw they were already added.
