My wife and I are going to be renting a car from Tampa to travel to WDW in December(air fare was soooo much cheaper flying into TPA). I just booked a compact thru Dollar and have my confirmation. Now, we will be arriving at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I have read elsewhere on the boards that they sometimes run out of cars (in this case, compacts), especially later in the day. What are the chances that they do run out of the type of car I have reserved, and what will my options be if they do? My apologies at the amateur questions, I have never rented a car before.

Thanks so much in advance for any help.

They will give you an upgrade.

Don't worry, just take all your paperwork with you, your insurance card and be very firm with the clerk if you don't want addnl. ins

If they run out of the type of car you have reserved, they should give you a FREE upgrade the the next class they have available. Don't take the extra insurance, your pollicy will cover you.

If they don't have any compact cars you'll get a free upgrade but that may not stop them by first hard selling you on paying for an upgrade. Don't be surprised if you hear lines like the compact really won't go fast enough on the highway. The trunk size on many compacts is small but for 2 people you can always put the luggage on the back seat.
