Me and my girlfriend went in January and absolutely loved it, im planning on taking her for her birthday in July but this time instead of stopping in one of the partner hotels (Dreamcastle) i want too take her to the New York Hotel, has anyone stopped in this hotel? if so whats it like, and because its her birthday and she loves disney i want to go all out and get some nice rooms (what room options are there, and what are they like?) looking at going for 7 nights (2 random days in paris itself) does anyone know of any good websites for deals? or is going through disney itself the best option.

1 last question, im planning on taking her from 11th July - 18th July, how busy is it at this time? i dont think the UK school holidays have quite started then, or maybe they are just starting.

sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance.

I think the holiays start around then and expect it to be very busy. You can book through a agency some discount disney prices, I got thomas cook to discount mine by 7% by ringing the number from thomascook-barclaycard.co.uk so technically got my holiday 47% off!

The dream castle is lovely I would take her back there again I think the only advance the new york has is the location, tbh dont think you could top dream castle other than dlh itself maybe

I am just back from Disneyland and I stayed at New York hotel. The atmosphere is rather gloomy, the corridors are dark. Last June I've been to Newport Bay, I liked it more than NY. I am writing my trip report and I will tell more about this hotel: I'll post pictures as well. I was disappointed about the room, a standard room which was not better than the equivalent at Newport Bay, and in general, I don't see any reason this hotel should be 4 stars and Newport just 3 (and why there should be such a difference in prices!). There isn't nothing that tells you: "wow, it's better", except for your luggage taken to your room and some cooked food available for breakfast. A pro: it's very close to the parks! Regarding room options, I can't help you, we have booked on a flash offer so we got a standard room.
Last June we have been to Paris for 2 days as well, and we stayed in an hotel close to the Opera. Tonight I'll ask husband about the website in which we found this hotel, now I don't remember...
The time you have chosen should be rather busy; French schools should be closed for holidays, and moreover on the 14th of July there is the French national holiday. I remember the park last end of June, beginning of July being already rather crowded! If you can, avoid weekends (or at least put in your plan just a saturday, if there are fireworks) because they are a pure hell!

I love the HNY, its has the least amount of rooms for the On site hotels. It more adult/business themed then the others. I love the old b&w photos of NY which is a fave city of mine too.

The rooms & bathroom are more spacious then the SL, can't say for NPB as I have never stayed there.

A lot of mainland Europe & possibly Scotland will be on the school holidays by then, also Bastille day 14th July is a national holiday so will be very busy then.

They have Lake view rooms at a supplement but you maybe able to ask a week before hand if you could have a certain room by email.

Disney direct are currently doing up to 40% off stays if booked bye the end of April

Stayed at HNY in Jan this year and loved it.
I've always been a great fan of the Newport Bay since our 2006 stay, but HNY is now my new favourite.
I think it most definately is worth the extra for it's location, the cooked breakfast and additional items, pastries etc., (only hotel where I've found a selection of fat free yoghurts and fresh fruit), not having to choose a time for breakfast, the service from the staff, requested a kettle at check in and asked for it to be delivered the following morning as we were going straight back out to our Cafe Mickey reservation but it arrived within 2 minutes of us arriving in the room, there were other little things too from the staff, that just added to the overall holiday experience.
I wouldn't want to argue the toss but I thought the room was the largest I've stayed in, including the one we had on the Admiral's Floor of the hotel. It is grown up in it's feel, doesn't bother me at all, perhaps, because my children are older although our stay included a 10 and 7 year old. If your girlfriend loves Disney then I think she'll appreicate the lack of kids, means the queues for the character meet and greets in the morning are almost non existant and there almost always seemed to be a character wandering around the hotel lobby, I think that's where it might score points over the Dream Castle. Also the walk through the village, past the lake and balloon with the beautifully lit NPB in the background, has got to be far more romantic than the Shuttle Bus. ;) :)

BTW we had a room overlooking the ice skating rink and with the windows open you could hear the music playing, it was lovely.

Never stayed in HNY but it will be very busy over that period because of Bastille Day....should be fireworks that day though as a plus point.
If you can go a few weeks before it will be much less busy.
