Paper towels....I hate it when I need to wipe a spill or whatever and the only thing is the last clean washcloth or toilet paper! To condense it, take a bunch off the roll & fold it so it won't take up so much room. Or buy some on the "grocery stop".
Ace Bandage....But then again, maybe I'm the only one who tends to get a twisted ankle over stepping on a stone the size of a pea!LOL

Baby wipes are also great for cleaning dirty hands before eating a Mickey bar and for cleaning sticky hands after eating the Mickey bar. I always fold a few into a ziplock bag (yet another Must pack).

Just to add to the paper towels post, you can now buy paper towels folded and in a box about the size of a tissue box. We bought these for our last trip and loved them.
Also we have purchased the moist towels in individual packs and put them in my purse/backpack. I remember being in line on Splash Mountain and a teen girl in line in front of us had chocolate on her face (heaven forbid for a teen);) I had handed her one and she was soooo happy. Her mother thanked us and said she would have to remember them for their next trip.

A small bottle of Purel to take around the parks. I've seen the hand bars on Splash Mountain! Those suckers are nasty!!!!
I'm also bringing a pedometer this trip to see just how much walking truly is involved at Walt Disney World! :)

The pedometer is a great idea!!!
We are going in early December and are packing the "cheapy" ponchos....not for the rain...but for the "wet rides" we are eagerly anticipating at WDW and US/IOA.

I too am a great belliever in taking wet wipes everywhere (even when the children are not with us) when on holiday (vacation) if you have access to a fridge or a freezer, keep them in there they are even more refreshing then, normally I put a dozen or so in a ziploc in there.

Dude! Ponchos won't do you any good at IOA on Pluto's Bilge Rat Barges. My wife and I just returned from there this past July and we wore Poncho's and got soaked. From Head To Toe! And we did not have any Cheap-o ponchos either.

This is my favorite topic. My husband makes fun of all the things I wipe and clean - GLAD TO HEAR I AM NOT ALONE. Yes, I have three small children and carry the pocketbook wipes EVERYWHERE, the papertowels are a great idea and thanks for the pedometer (have always wanted one and now have finally added it to my list).
I just purchased Table Toppers at buy buy Baby to avoid cleaning the tables. They are disposable, adhesive placemats for the kids. Pretty cool. ;) :smooth: :) :Pinkbounc

Instead of taking paper towels, consider Bounty napkins. They are weightier than regular napkins and substitute easily for paper towels. That's what I plan to take.

The last trip I brought Biore face wipes. They turned out to be wonderful!!!! I could use them after the pool, at night when I was absolutely exhausted and did not feel like spending 20 minutes removing my makeup!! Also, for example, we had spent the entire day in the parks and got back to our room just in time to change clothes and make our Cal. Grill PS. I quickly washed my face and did a quick makeup job on the way there!! Anyway, just an idea!!
What do you guys think???

For those of you going in the hot humid weather try the Dove Refresher cloths. I loved the smell and they really make you feel fresh for the rest of the day. Also agree about the hand wipes packets and mini travel size bottle of hand sanitiser.:D

NEOSPORIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Table Toppers are the best if you have toddlers - They cover the table in front so the kids can't gather all the germs on the table as they eat- the best thing is you can just throw them out!
My mom has carried wet ones for as long as she can remember - they really do come in handy!
They now make Neosporin in travel pacs which is handy also.

When my son was around 9 to 11 he would complain of heal pain from walking or standing so much so I started to pack Dr Sholls heal cups. they really seem to alleviate the discomfort. He soesn't seem to have this ailment any longer but I still have them in the first aide bag that I take with us every trip.

Travel packs of Coppertone Baby sunblock. I just found these at CVS. They are single serving type foil packets of sunblock. They fit perfectly in my fannypack. They are great to supplement the stuff we put on in the room before hitting the parks.

I just saw those little packets! I also like the sunblock stick and the lip sun block.
I always carry a nail clipper with a file on it, I can't stand having a cracked nail or a hang nail and my nails are short. Also good for cutting something in pinch.

I always have Purell, Nice'n Clean wipes, Kleenex, and a Swiss Army knife in my purse at home and away. The SAK will definately need to be packed in your checked luggage now, but still, you can add it to your fanny pack once you arrive. The one additional item that I always have in my purse that I have not seen mentioned on this thread yet is Shout Wipes. I started carrying them when we adopted our son, but, ironically, I end up handing most of them out to my coworkers when they spill their lunch on their uniforms! Another thing I had along last time was the small pouches of fruit snacks. We didn't get stuck in many lines, but the couple of times we did, it really seemed to appease my (at the time) four year old.

You can not pack a swiss army knife in your fanny pack and enter a WDW park!

But you can carry it in your pocket. We saw a guy at Animal Kingdom opening a package with a knife he must have brought in with him, I swear the blade was 6 inches long! I know they can't search everyone but the bag searches seem useless to me. If someone wants to bring a dangerous object of some kind into a DW theme park, they can very easily do it.
On a more pleasant note, I am so glad to add some things to my Disney shopping list. The pedometer is a great idea!
Keeping the wipes cold and carrying them in a ziploc is a good idea too, the Dove ones sound nice. The Biore face wipes sound good to me too. For some reason, I never could stand the smell of all the wipes in the little packets. Or the baby wipes.
I just put a nail file and clipper in my little travel make-up bag too.
It's these small tips put together with all the other information we find on these boards that help add up to problem-free, magical vacations!
Thanks!

I boought my pedometer at a sporting goods store. Our WalMart also has them in the camping/sporting goods section.
Part of each day's diary is recording the mileage for the day. I am usually somewhere between 10 - 14 miles.

Ok, a friend of mine also suggested getting an el-cheapo small flashlight for little ones on the "dark" rides. I have invested little $$ and think it will help. Keep the ideas coming :D , we're leaving for WDW Saturday and I don't want to forget any necessities;)

How about "SHOUT" wipes (in individual packets) For those inevitable chocolate ice cream spills on your DS's white RL shirt:eek:

Must have's for the room:
1) mesh bags for dirty laundry. We presort into whites, darks, etc. during the week so when we come home, we're ready to dump the whole thing in the wash.
2) plastic clothes pins. Good for closing bags of chips, and hanging up we clothes on the line in the shower.
3) extra trash sacks. Room cans are always too small.
4) air freshener. No vent fan in the bathroom (if you know what I mean).
5) sound machine. Nothing like the sound of the ocean or rain for an afternoon nap.
Must have's for the fanny pack:
1) aspirin/tylenol/ibubrofen. Choose your favorite
2) gum. They don't sell it in the parks
3) tums/zantac. For those greasy burgers.
4) hand sanitizer.
5) a roll of pennies and quarters for the penny press machines.

A few things I've discovered;
liquid hand soap (I hate using a bar soap)
downey wrinkle spray (I hate ironing twice)
sunscreen in a travel size container with a sponge applicator. (like a shoe polish thingy--none on your hands!) I believe they are avail. at golf shops.

I have added Neosporin and Band Aids Blister block to my list. Wal Mart has always carried the antibacterial hand wipes in a great travel size package (flat and can easily be squished in anything). In case we forget something, is there any way to get from the disney resorts to a Wal Mart or a grocery store if we do not have a rent car??
Thanks for all of the great ideas!

I figured out how to make this work! I'm only concerned about my bottom getting wet since that leads to CHAFFING (ew). I was ok getting my feet, lower legs, and top wet. If you're like me, try this... I wrap the poncho around my waist (kinda like you would with a flannel shirt you were saving to layer later on, only you overlap the sides and tie it REALLY snug.) It has to be big enough to tie around you, and long enough to where the water won't get up in your seat. I would also tuck the extra plastic between my legs (from top and bottom). I don't know if this makes any sense, but it worked even when I was drenched and sitting in water.
In case it doesn't work, bring baby powder.

We bring a lot of the things already mentioned: Shout wipes, hand wipes, ponchos and the little individual sun screen packets.
We also bring along a small plastic file folder (it's about the size of a business envelope) to hold items we collect to keep for our scrapbook. Things we don't want to misplace or get wrinkled, like all the stickers we collect from different parks, stores and restaurants throughout WDW, brochures, maps and anything else that might interest us.

BEAR NECESSATIES!
That is my - now experienced- advice! No matter what you bring - you will never have it easily accessable when you need it!
I didn't use my usual skin care regiment, the laundry tablets, the shouts wipes (in the room when at the park),, Used the curling iron once (then got rained on  ).
The few things I am glad I did have-
extra cameras! I broke my (new) APS camera on the second day! THank god I brought the digital (one card = 80+ pictures), and 5 disposables! I still had to buy one disposable the last day at Blizzard Beach @ 19.99! Thank godness I didn't need more than one!
tums (never should have had that bacardi breezer with the room service pizzas!)
blankie for DS in porta-crib!
:p

Well, this is not so much a "thing to bring" as a "thing to do". I just called the credit card company and told them that we would be going to Florida in 36 (yes, 36:p !) hours. They added a little note to our profile with our dates of travel so we wouldn't have any trouble making purchases from unusual locations on our MasterCard.

Zip locks. They are the best thing. I always pack 5/6 of the big gallon ones and more of the smaller sandwich sized.
Sometimes I do laundry in them. I just put some hotel shampoo or woolite in with my stained item, add warm water, seal it up, then shake like crazy. Or it's great to soak things, too.
Also, with the big ones, you can usually seal regular paper inside it, so you can use it to hold brochures, etc, to stay organized.
I like the freezer bags. The quart ones are good, too.
I often sneak a bit of food from a buffet. Usually I just take a croissant or something small. Putting it in a ziplock keeps the crumbs from falling all over the place.
You can pack your wet items in them. Toiletries. Film without the canisters for easy airport security inspection. Put your underwear and socks in them, you won't have to go rummaging through your suitcase .
And the BEST tip. If you do your laundry yourself, inflate the ziplock, seal it, and stick it inside the wet garmet. Seperating the sides of a wet garmet allows the garmet to dry more quickly. This works. It's such a time saver. Some people like to use balloons. I like the ziplocks because you can re-use them for other purposes after the garmet is dry.

In no particular order but these are my "MUSTS"
Zip lock bags- various sizes, multiple uses
Small flashlights- dark rides no more
Wipes- mans best invention after zip locks
Sun screen- an ounce of prevention
Lip balm- Ditto
Juice boxes- easy, close, & cheaper
Band aids- just because
Neosporin- better to be prepared
Zipper wallet- keeps the important things in place
Extra sunglasses
Hat
Extra camera batteries/film- cost prohibitive in the parks
Shiney pennies/quarter rolls- who needs another line for change?
6 trips 4 years and still searching for the "perfect pack"!! ;)

After returning from the parks with the many ideas I had, here are what I discovered are MUSTS!
I agree on Ziplocs/wipes
Small container hand sanitizer
Band Aids (a few)
FILM, FILM, FILM (expensive to buy after you are in the parks)
Sunscreen (small bottle or put in a small container)
Camera
Sharpie Marker for autographs
Snacks
Take your own bottled (plastic) water and keep refilling (cheaper)
Lots and lots of $$$$$$ (he he!)
I packed a mini back pack and filled it up the first day with many more items that I listed here. I found that I did NOT want to lug around that much stuff.
The shout wipes were a good idea, but I found that even when packed I didn't use them until back at the hotel. The first day I packed in PBJ sandwiches, small bags of chips, gummies and bottled water, needless to say, I didn't feel like doing that daily. Even though it was not cheap to eat in Disney, I found that I didn't go on vacation to pack sandwiches around ;) .
Hope some of this helps.
Juli

Has anyone mentioned ear plugs?
They didn't help me this past weekend actually, but they did the trick for my husband.
We stayed at the Swan for the first time, it was okay.
But, when we tried to nap on Sunday afternoon, they were installing new carpet in the room above ours. They were hammering in the tack strips. I had to get up and go out but my husband was able to sleep with the ear plugs muffling the noise.

montessori, that was one I have on my list but I use them in the parks for a quick nap. Sounds Dangerous (no headphones) and the old Doug Live are 2 great quick nap places with earplugs.
I have a small waterproof camping box about the size of a deck of cards that is crammed full of many single use packets.
Several type of pain meds (Aspirin, Aleve)
Single use Neosporin and other creams.
Band-Aids
Watergel singles for Sunburn (I always forget the tops of my ears)
Blister pads
Very small folding reading glasses (I wear script suns at WDW never know when they might go flying)
Imodium chewable
Special Key ring (only used on trips) hanging from it
Photon light
Mini pliers
Eye glass kit
Safety Pins
P-38
Spare vehicle key
I have had a bunch of dental work the last several years and on 2 trips got bad infections. Sitting at WDW on a Saturday morning hoping the little tingle goes away is not fun since I know it would be mid day Monday before I get a hold of my dentists office.
Now I carry backup scripts just in case.
My small day bag also has a Microfiber hand towel when it gets hot along with a very small fan 2AA size that is just enough breeze.
Add the digital camera and a paperback book and out the door.

We do the earplugs for our 6yo. Very sensitive ears and therefore worried about some attractions--WDW is a LOUD place. She is so excited about this trip because she doesn't have to worry now.
Can't emphasize the bandaids enough--last trip it was just my 6yo and I, but I know this girl and had bandaids in my purse. Going along through the Treehouse we came upon a very sad little two or three year old boy whose little knee was bleeding.:( I asked mom and dad if he wanted a bandaid and got one out (with Pooh on it to boot!) I swear that mom almost cried and the little guy cheered right up. Made my day, I tell ya!
Extra batteries are a must--cameras, mini flashlights etc
A nightlight
a cup holder to attach to the stroller
disposable bibs (those ones by Pampers) and for the same little dude, a suction cup plate so his food does not go flying!

ZIPLOCS are a must! Shout wipes, tiny first aid kit(clutzy family - someone always needs a bandaid!) Eyeglass repair kit (found this one out the hard way  luckily the nice lady at the MK first aid station fixed them for me :p )
glow sticks for scary rides (not so bright as to disturb others but bright enough for the kids AND last 12 hours)
Wipies of course!
cooling foot lotion...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
