View Full Version : MVMCP Post Cruise

So I was talking to several friends on FB and it looks like we are going to get tickets to attend MVMCP on the Thursday we disembark the ship (12/16).

Well that is if it is that night, I researched and the last 3 years it has been held on Thursdays so we are going to assume they follow the same pattern.

We picked this day as most of us aren't arriving in time to attend pre-cruise and the first post cruise day you are pretty exhausted from all the shipboard activities. This allows for a leisurely day either in a park, at DTD, or you can resort hop then head to MK for the 4:00 opening.

I will create a listing here in this post of those who are in, so even if you said you were in on FB can you repost it here so it is official.

I am so looking forward to this as last year was so, so much fun! MVMCP and DATW with friends gets no better than this!

Darn, I can't believe they took away the DVC and AP discounts for the entire time I'm down there! That stinks. But I'm sure we'll still go. The Christmas party is just too much fun!!!

Guess they know we are all coming and wanted to get more money.

If my memory serves me correctly, last year they added the DVC discount later on. I was able to call back and get the credit to my account, and they issued me new tickets (the original tix were cancelled). So maybe they will do that again.

I am working on my budget for the big December trip. Not sure MVMCP will make the cut.

I wasn't planning on MVMCP as reviews of it were kinda so-so compared to the Halloween party.

Do you do the party events, or mostly move about as a crowd?

Will I be missing a good party, or a good time with DISers?

I will be seeing you all on the cruise and at D(and snack)ATW. And at other pre and post cruise events.

(My "splurge" might be La Nouba)

MVMCP will always be special to me because of last year. I was able to share it with a great group of DIS'r and made memories that will last forever so for us the chance to go again with many of the same folks is a given. We wouldn't miss it but that doesn't mean it is for everyone and that everyone should feel like they have to go.

If it were just John and I going, we would probably skip it as when I compare our other experiences of the party vs. MNSSHP, the Halloween party wins hands down in my opinion but I LOVE Halloween so that could be part of it as well.

Budget wise what we will do is not go to a park during the day. Our MVMCP will be our park tickets for that day. We will be tired after the cruise and I want to stay late at the Christmas party so instead of park hop and wipe ourselves out, we will get off the ship, drive to the world, do a early check-in and then who knows... I've tried a late party after a cruise with the day in another park before and never again for us! It was exhausting and we ended up leaving the party early as we were so tired. So it ended up being a total waste of money for us.

Instead I am sure at some point that day we will instead head to DTD or since it is a week before Christmas, if we haven't finished our Xmas shopping, we may head to some off Disney property stores and try and finish that shopping so I am less stressed when we get home on Saturday night, or we may resort hop, or maybe get together with some others for a lunch ADR , just not sure yet.

You are right, there will be lots of DIS'r time before during and after the cruise so you will want to make sure you plan some just family time as well.

The Plaza would be fun and not too expensive. But I'm not that picky so I am okay with a burger from Pecos Bills too. :rolleyes1

I did both the Christmas Party and the Halloween Party last year. I thought the Halloween Party was very fun, though I think I only rode 1 ride the entire night and I did it solo, it would be a totally different experience with a group of friends.

The Christmas Party was very fun as it was spent with my DIS Friends:grouphug:. We had a great time that night - laughing/crying. It was a very good end for my DIS weekend - I hated to see the weekend end. It was great being one of the last ones out of the park that night and not getting back to the resort until close to 2 am and then having to get back up by 6 am to pack and catch my flight out the next morning.

I would like to add DH & I to the list. We are thinking about it but as was already said we could rest after leaving the ship then use the MVMCP as our park tickets for the day. We went to DAP last yr but had our 4 kids with us and didn't want to drag them around so we didn't join in the group activities. Since it will be just us I want to partake in everything. I have dream most nights about meeting Disers and hanging out.:grouphug:

Yes, you need to purchase a separate ticket for MVMCP. If you plan on entering the park before 4pm, you also need to purchase admission to the park. The party doesn't start officially until 7pm, but you can get in a few hours early and get a lot out of your MVMCP ticket.

For dinner I was thinking Pecos Bill's or Columbia Harbour House. Since it is a hard ticket event, I would rather spend my time enjoying the special treats of the party than sitting at a TS eatery. (Pecos Bill's worked well for DAP with 12-18 of us.)

I'm probably leaning toward a TS lunch. Maybe at DTD or a resort? Haven't figured that out.

Thanks for the information. That means we have 3 plus hours to visit a park or DTD or resort hopping prior to meeting up at MVMCP. I have a hard believing that I'm just going to rest in the afternoon and not use my park ticket.

I'm thinking that the few hours between cruise and MVMCP will be the only time to RELAX. Everything else is brightly colored/booked.

I'snt Monday at work the time to rest? :rotfl2:

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get on a airplane Saturday morning after DATW. I would suggest no one sits around me and keep the isle clear.:scared1:

Even though it was a late night MVMCP was calm and relaxed in my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing as far as dinner that evening also. We've always gone to Pecos Bill's during the MNSSHP and MVMCP events.

DH and I are planning on renting a car at the port and going over to Ron Jon's surf shop before heading to WDW.
Then, we're either going to Celebration Town Tavern for lunch and then checking in at the resort or visa-versa - depending on the time.

No Early Entry for MNSSHP & MVMCP? It is being reported that guests attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) will not be allowed to enter the park until the party begins at 7:00 pm unless they have either valid daytime admission to the park or a confirmed Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR). For the past few years guests without daytime admission were allowed to enter the park as early as 4:00 pm using the party ticket.

They were letting people in at 4 pm for both MNSSHP & MVMCP last year. We will have to wait and see what happens in September when the Halloween Parties begin. If I remember correctly, this was said prior to the parties starting last year too, and then they granted early admission to party attendees.

Melody, I haven't been myself yet either but all the reviews I've heard & read say it's worth it. They are well covered in previous podcasts if you want to hear some reviews. The first party is next wk so there should be some reviews of this year's party up soon if you want to hear them before you decide. For me, it was a must do and the timing is just right. I'm glad I'll be able to experience it once at least and then decide if we go again on future trips. :goodvibes

For the party there was never a set time/place to meet up as there are so many variables to attending the party and so many people going.

Some will be going to the park at 4:00 while others later than that. Some who are attending are making ADR's and others are not, some have kids and want to concentrate on the child aspect of the party while others are solo and want to do other things so while we are all attending the the party it will be more of a running into each other party versus traveling together in one huge group like we do at DATW.

I know last year this worked out really well and we all unofficially met near the rose garden for the fireworks. I think that is probably what we will do again this year.

With that said, if anyone wants to create their own smaller groups to tour the party go for it. Also remember, the party is after the cruise so you will meet many folks on the cruise and then recognize lots of people at the party.

It was far nicer to travel as smaller groups and run into everyone throughout the night. Made it feel like the MK was all for us, because we seemed to know everyone.
