Why would a CM deliberately push you?

Did you go City hall with the name of the CM. I think your complaint may stand up a bit better if you reported the incident when it happened.

some cms are rude, ive never been pushed but have been shouted at rather rudely and had them flapping their arms at me. i think its *** of the language barrier but an attraction like that they should give staff some training in basic english

All the CMs I have met have excellent English, I have only come across one who didn't know what I was saying but was lovely and went got someone to translate.
They have to have basic English to work there, like if we wanted to work there we would have to know basic French.

Unfortunately, the location of Disneyland Paris (in the middle of Europe) means that they have to deal with so many different cultures and languages.
What this means is it's almost impossible for every CM to be able to communicate what is required clearly with words. Sometimes, they just have to resort to using hand gestures because they don't quite know the words required to ask what they want.
Unfortunately, to our particular culture this often comes across as a little rude, but I'm sure they mean well and are trying their best :thumbsup2

All the CMs I have met have excellent English,
I can't agree with this statement, as we often meet people working in Disneyland especially in restaurants who don't have a good command of English. And if they have sometimes are often rather rude anyway, as if speaking English is a bother for them.
The other day, for example, we were queuing for breakfast at Manhattan restaurant, a lady came saying if we could move to the other restaurant where the queue was shorter. It was almost our turn so my husband said we were in the other restaurant the day before and we wanted to try Manhattan (just to look at the inside). She replied the food was the same. Husband answered back that we knew very well and that we were going to wait anyhow. She switched to French saying the same thing again (I do understand French) so my husband got irritated and told her it was stupid talking to him in French as he doesn't speak French. She then did an unpleasant gesture like "go away, piss off" by raising her hands. We stood there and then in few minutes we managed to have breakfast.
Note: we aren't English native speakers as you see!

Sorry to hear you have had a bad experience but in all the times I've visited every CM I have encountered has either been English or been able to use basic English and has never ever been rude.

Would it help if we tried to use French? Or is it different in Disneyland and the staff are expected to speak English?:confused3

I often talk French to the CM's, however 90% of the time they reply in English, even tho my French is probably at least on a par with most of their English :lmao:

The staff is expected to be able to speak English. However, we have been to Disneyland Paris many times, and all the times we found some people who looked rather bothered to use English. My husband gets very upset about this, and I agree with him, they must use English if required by the guest. I don't expect any cast member or hotels and restaurant staff to be able to speak my native language, but I expect they can speak English at least, as it is a sort of "esperanto" nowadays.

I only know very basic French and i find that most CM's appreciate it if you do at least try and use the odd french word.
Bonjour and Merci can go along way. :thumbsup2

Yes, of course, greeting and thanking in French, but it seems that it isn't enough... I get the feeling that some people is really bothered to have to speak English. On the other hand, the French, as well as the Italians, don't learn very well English at school, so they may feel not good enough at using this language.

Like i said i have never encountered CM's who have been rude or not been bothered to speak or try to speak English in all my 8 trips to the magic. So i cannot agree or disagree with your statement.

I have definitely come across CMs who dont speak English and have admitted they dont when asked - however even if they do it will be very difficult for them as they are often speaking to people from another country (not UK) whos first language isnt English but are speaking it to try and communicate with a CM whos first language isnt English either.
Add to this all the regional variations and accents of the English language they are trying to listen to and understand. We have enough difficulty in this country at times :rotfl:

completely agree!!! many times i cant understand the ppl where i live (who r born here and use local words for things!!)
saying that, ive not met any rude cms, ive met sum who struggle with english, and ive always tried with my french (and been commended lol). it must be harder tho - if ur both using english and it is neither of ur native language, and wud guess this is where most probs occur. dh who is workin in france can give 3 diff sentance which mean the same, and regional dialects for them too means that they can even change sumthin as simple of numbers!!
i guess also, it depends on what u do class as rude, what one person sees as rude, another might not appreciate it, but also might not think it too bad... sum great gestures can be found in all languages..... say no more ;)

I have seen a number of times on here that people complained a CM 'just shrugged' at them. I don't think a shrug is considered rude at all in France. I think on the whole it all works very well, considering how many different nationalities are crammed into that space.

I have encountered a very rude CM, who complained about me in French - thinking I couldn't understand - to his colleague. His colleague laughed, making him rude also in my eyes. I don't get angry easily but I was pretty annoyed by this! However they have been the exception rather than the rule in all my trips to DLRP. I've also met multiple CMs who don't speak English at all well, but they tend to be the popcorn vendors etc rather than CMs who will need to explain things. I always order stuff in French and often get replies in English...my French is obviously too awful to continue a conversation in.:rotfl:
