Well, there was no thread for this that I could find, so I'll start it! Anyone else doing the 3-day Bahamas cruise on the Wonder that departs Port Canaveral on 5/20/2010???

It's my DBF's first cruise too! And my first Disney cruise. We are traveling with another couple (separate staterooms of course, haha)...no kids ;) All four of us are in our late 20s

I've checked for weeks and there was no thread so I am thrilled that one has now been started! My husband and I along with our kids 19 and 20 are on this cruise. Dh and I cruised this same cruise last Halloween and decided to take the kids in May. This is our 4th disney cruise and their 2nd. We are from just north of ATL, GA and are very much looking forward to this cruise. Is anyone doing FE's?

Hey Mary,
I was hoping someone else would do the FE's ;o) I think it would be kind of cool to do them with other adults (your kids included). We live in SC, also...only a couple hours from ATL!

We are on the May 20 cruise, kind of a Bday cruise for me (40). It Is Me and my Wife, with our 3 kids. 2 boys(16 and 12) and 1 girl (5) and a close friend of ours, who we are treating because she watches our kids so many times throughout the year. There are 6 of us total in 2 cabins. We got a great deal on the Florida resident rates.

Nice! This is my DBF's first cruise and a [slightly] early birthday present to him from me! (He will be 30--shhh!--about a week after we cruise)

Hopefully we will get a few people interested in the FE's! Now, I am a big fan of So Carolina, having graduated from Clemson many moons ago. Let's see if we can get a list going of those that want to do FE's. We'll just do one for the four of us. Our sons have the cabin next to us. We are in 6303 and 6305. Our first time ever in an inside cabin!

We live very close to Clemson ;) (I would send you the city in a PM if you want--not sure if I want to post it in a public forum like this)
I will definitely try to get the other couple traveling with us into the FE's. I think they'll be amenable. I'm probably going to order mine this week. We don't have a cabin assignment yet--we did a guarantee with a very tiny hope of getting upgraded :goodvibes The DBF has never been on a cruise, and this is a short one, so I don't think we'll mind an inside...although on my three previous cruises I upgraded myself each time (1st cruise--oceanview but with a TINY porthole window; 2nd cruise--oceanview with a big picture window; 3rd cruise--balcony) so this will be interesting for me, haha.

You don't have to give the name of the town. I don't blame you! I do love that area of South Carolina and loved my years at Clemson.
This will be our first experience together in an inside cabin. When my son graduated high school I went alone with him and his friends and we got an inside cabin on Carnival and it wasn't bad at all! On Disney we have always gotten cabins with balconies, but on our last cruise we really never went out there enough to make it worth the extra $$. We tend to spend alot of time on the decks of the ship and doing other things, so we thought since we were taking the kids this time and had to get them a cabin too, we would just try the inside. I think it will be fine!
Why don't we plan to get a list together by April 15th of those that want to do FE's. If you (speaking to everyone) do want to do it, and have a cabin number, just let me know and I'll compile it! If you don't have a cabin number, just list it as no current cabin assignment. We'll still put you on the list and then update with cabin number once they are assigned.

Do you mind if we push it back to April 24th? I hear that they usually send out cabin assignments about a month out...even if they mean a month out from the return date, doing it the 24th would hopefully get us cabin assignments, and we would still have nearly a month to get things together :cutie:

Good day to all of you fellow Wonder'ers!!
We'll also be on the May 20th sailing. We're from Central Pennsylvania.
It will be Me, DH, DD(26), DGS(not quite 3yo), DS(28) and his DF(28),(never mind how old I am:goodvibes), DH and I will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary about 2 weeks early.
DH and I have been on 2 prior 4-day Wonder cruises, and would have preferred another 4 day, but the "kids" want to do 5 nights at WDW first and time constraints wouldn't allow for a 4 day this time. This is the first cruise for the kids. We booked our rooms when we booked the cruise way back on July 29th. I was able to snag one of the Secret Porthole Rooms for me, DH, DD and DGS, DS and his DF are in a sideways cat 11.
I'll let you all know if we decide to participate in the FE's, haven't done that before, but sounds like fun.

YES!!!!! My wife and I will be on this cruise. We are so excited because this will be our first cruise ever and without kids as well. It will be our first trip without the kids in 10 years. I just hope the 3 day cruise will be enough, after reading some posts about the 3 day vs the 4 day. But oh well everything is booked now and I really dont want to go back and change everything. Any tips for a first time cruiser? What excursions, if any, has everyone booked in Nassau? Oh and what night is the Pirates in the Carribean party?

Tips--even for a 3-day cruise, bring more than one bathing suit! Haha. I could probably give about a million other tips but I wouldn't even know where to start.
We are booked for Discover Atlantis in Nassau, but I think we're going to cancel it and just take a taxi over to check out the resort. We don't have a huge desire to see The Dig or whatever...we just want to check out the hotel itself.
I *think* the Pirates part will be on Friday night.
And yay for more people going without kids! Not that I mind them at all...I have a beautiful niece and an adorable baby nephew who are my heart and soul...but I'm glad to see we won't be the only child-less people aboard!

The kids and I are just doing a bit of a self guided walking tour of Nassau, stopping at some shops and the straw market while DGS spends some time in the kids club, then the "kids" will probably hop into a taxi and head over to Atlantis for a few hours in the afternoon while DH continues to relax at the adult pool and I'll entertain the little guy at the kids pool.
We have reservations for Palo, but other than that we'll just soak in the atmosphere of the ship and Castaway Cay, see the shows, and eating way more than we should. DH usually goes to bed at around 10, so DGS will hopefully be asleep in the room with him while the rest of us enjoy the "nightlife". You'll probably find us at one of the lounges or up on deck 10 enjoying a bit of the rum.;) You can't miss us, I'm 6', dd is 6', DS is 6'5" and his DFiance is only 4'11".
The Pirate's Party is normally on Friday night beginning at around 9:45pm.
I'm a firm believer that if you try to load in too many activities you'll just overwhelm yourself. The Wonder is a beautiful ship, and the shows are great.

I would also be interested in possibly doing a FE, provided I can find the time to get everything together. My DBF and I are graduating from University the end of April, so we're extra busy right now. This trip is sort of a graduation present to ourselves. Currently we're in room 6067.
In Nassau we booked the Sunshine Glass Bottom Boat Tour, something my DBF is really interested in. Has anyone done this before? We're also thinking about renting bikes at CC.

We wil probably do the Fish Extenders as well. I just have to convince my wife.
When we booked the cruise, we were thinking there may not be alot of kids. It is during school time, and the end of the year is soon behind, so alot of people may not take their kids out. We did because we just couldn't pass up the deal. We will make them make up their work before we go. Maybe it will be a good thing, and the kids pool will be less busy.

I've done a glass bottom boat tour but wasn't very impressed with it...however, it was in Jamaica, not Nassau, and when we went it was not long after a rainstorm so the water was really cloudy.

Thanks for the info. We have decided to do the snorkeling adventure since it's just the two of us and no kids. Anyone heard anything about the snorkeling trip? I don't really have any desire to go over to the Atlantis resort either. Next time when we bring the kids we may do the sting ray adventure, but that's another time.

Excuse my ignorance but what is an FE????:confused3
haha don't worry, I had to look it up on the acronym list on this site--FE stands for "fish extender"--and then google that to figure out what it was...it's this little thing that you hang from the fish that has your stateroom number on it...it's made of cloth and has pockets, and the people who agree to do the FE exchange leave little gifts in each other's FE's...
sorry, I know I'm not doing the best job of describing what it looks like, but if you go to ebay and search for "fish extender" there are some for sale on there :surfweb:

Hi Y'all-
We just booked our rooms today. We actually did this exact cruise back on February 4th and had a great time, even though I was not feeling well and the weather did not cooperate! We did not get to go to Castaway Cay because of the weather and that was a bummer... Other than that, we had a blast. In Nassau, we went to Atlantis for the day and bought full privileges through the Comfort Suites. For every room you book there, you get 4 wristbands for the slides, pools and beaches. If you haven't been to Atlantis, I would highly recommend it, especially if you have active kids!
There will be 7 of us this time, and I would really like to be involved in the Fish Extender tradition! My in-laws and brother-in-law are going and it's their first Disney Cruise, so I would like to surprise them with the FE's I make for them. So, all in all we will have my husband and I, our 5 year old and my husband's 11 year old daughter, his parents, and my husbands brother. We are coming from Dallas:) If anyone has any questions about the cruise, feel free to ask- it's all fresh in my memory!

To further explain the fish extenders, we did this for the first time on our cruise last October. We didn't have any kids with us so I felt kinda funny doing it, but ultimately we loved it! If you participate, you hang your FE up on the fish outside your cabin door then throughout the cruise the FE participants bring by and put special treat bags in your FE pockets. The treat bags include all kinds of things like candy, things that represent your home state, stickers, disney things, whatever you feel like! The people that do participate in the FE's will list the cabin number and ages of those in the participating room. If there are kids participating, you can make your gifts more kids oriented. You can do as much or as little as you want! The gifts we got included the names and cabin numbers of those that gave us the gifts on a tag outside of little halloween like treat bags. Or others just threw a few pieces of candy in there. It starts at the beginning of the cruise and ends the last night before you return to Port Canaveral. I just ordered my FE from someone on ebay and it was only 19.99 and so very cute!
We'll do a final "role call" of those that want to participate on the 24th and then put out a list of those participating, cabin number and ages of those in the participating cabin.

I've been hanging around the DIS, and was thinking of starting a meetup if no-one did by Easter. Thanks Tara!
This is our 2nd Disney cruise, and I want our kids to join the FE exchange. Sailing are me (Tee 35), DH (Em 38), DD (Mad 6 - actually 6 in April, the cruise is her bday gift in lieu of a party), and DS (TT 1).
Can't wait to meet you all! We already have some decorations for our door, and now I'm going to get an FE on ebay.

Hi there. Can we join in? We are doing this cruise as well. We were going to do the 4 day on the 23rd, but when we checked into switching resorts for the Disney World part of our trip, we would have had to give up Bay Lake Tower, so my hubby vetoed it.
We would love to take part in the FE exchange and any meets that take place. Going on our trip is me (32), DH (34), DD12, DS11, DD8, DD6, and DS4 along with my parents and my hubby's uncle.
We booked the dolphin excursion for part of our group and the sea lion excursion for the others, and the men and my DS11 are going to try parasailing on Castaway Cay day. We also have Palo booked for the third night, so I am hoping it's not the same night as the Pirate themed evening.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Okay, this thread has gotten me soooo excited! I've ordered our fish extender and have made Palo reservations, nursery reservations, shore excursions (although planning to stay onboard in Nassau)... gathering pirate items and door decor now!! CAN'T WAIT!! :) :)
So are we waiting until April to do the all call for FE's? That seems SO far away :(... Okay, okay....I'm sure I have a bizillion other things to be prepping so I'll hold my horses :).
Quick question...I've read conflicting reports. I've got a 1 year old and a 2 year old in swim diapers. They CAN go in the Mickey ears or no? I've read both ways. I know they can go in the splash pad area NEXT to the Mickey pool, but the ears???
Thanks!! :)

Have you guys (the parents) never been to WDW either??? Regardless, you guys will have such a blast there with your kids, I'm sure.
Someone else mentioned how sad it was that we aren't doing the official FE list until later in April...that's partly my fault :rolleyes1 We booked a guarantee stateroom and probably won't get our room assignments until 2-4 weeks out, so we thought it would just be easier to wait until we (as well as anyone else who may have done guarantee rooms) had more of a chance of having an actual room number to add to the list.

We're originally Californian's so we grew up having Disneyland as the place to go. SO, even though I've only been to WDW once and my hubby has never been, we feel like we've had the Magic Kingdom experience a bunch :). Our oldest daughter (12) has been to Disneyland with us multiple times but since having the littlest kiddos we haven't been. This will be their first trips. :)

OK, while we agreed to do the FINAL list on April 23(?) I think it would be helpful to do a preliminary count just so we can know about how many cabins are participating. Even if you have already mentioned it, please post if you are definitely participating, how many of you and ages in room and cabin number. I ordered my FE on ebay and got it yesterday and it is SO cute!
I'll start the list. We are definitely participating. We will just put one outside our sons cabin Chris 20 and Erick 19 and their cabin is 6305.
Haven't started working on door decorations yet. As everyone responds if they are participating, I'll start a list and we'll do a "last call" the week of the 15th with the final list being published April 23.

I see :) I've been to Disneyland once but I worked at Disney World so it's basically my second home.
I have been thinking about dressing up for pirate night...I have pirate costumes from a pirate party I threw one year, but they aren't warm-weather costumes by any means and I'm not sure I'll have the money to order something specific for the cruise...
WE ARE DEFINITELY DOING A FISH EXTENDER. Not sure of our cabin number yet (we're in a guarantee) but it will be myself (27) and my DBF (29) participating. I've already ordered our FE...it will be a Pirates of the Caribbean one!

Haha, the other issue I should have mentioned is that one of them I definitely can't bring, for my own personal reasons; the other is the replica of Keira Knightley's dress from POTC 2 and would be REALLY cumbersome to pack. We'll see ;)

:goodvibes HI fellow cruisers
Or trip is comming faster than we know :thumbsup2 . ive been crazy 3 kids nursing student and i work full time in a ICU soo I started my FE gifts already and i just wanted to make sure that noone had any allergies :) I would not want to put candy in and any anyone have a reaction on thier vacation :scared1:. I just get nervous cause some peoples allergies are so bad all they have to do is be in the same room.
On a brighter note is anyone doin atlantis by the route of comfort suites??? I was on a carnival cruise last month and tried to do this and they told me you had to book for multiple nights however i see alot of people on the board doin this. Also it is only me and DH so if it can be done and a party of 2 wants to split the room let me know :)
Hope everyone is having a blast getting ready

Rita, I looked online at that room option and it's showing no vacancy for our dates. Did you get something to come up? We've got 5 of us, so that wouldn't work too well sharing, but you're sweet to make the offer!
I'm BEYOND excited! I love that our group has so many participating and am HOPING *fingers crossed* that many of you will also do a little dressing up on Pirate night so my hubby doesn't send me back to shore in a rowboat :).

My DH travels alot and belongs to numerous hotel rewards gonna see if he can get it cheaper or use rewards. Also if any of the adults object to liquor let me know Had to pick up a well deserved 6pack of bud lite lime (only 2 ww points ) and saw the greatest treat for adult fish extenders :goodvibes If noone objects by next week im gonna pick a bunch up ;)

Good morning all....
Robin & Rita, hope things work out with the Comfort Suites. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.pixiedust: The "Kids" and I are just going to take a taxi to Atlantis and spend a couple of hours roaming around and maybe playing a few slot machines. DH prefers to spend his time sprawled on a lounger back on deck 7, soaking up some sun and a few beers:drinking1, DGS will get to spend a couple of hours in the kids club.
I'm so excited for the trip too. The kids got their Magic Express Pkgs in the mail yesterday.:yay: We're doing 5 nights at WDW before the cruise. They are flying and DH(Don), DGS and I are taking the AutoTrain. Next week, the mail should be bringing the MYW package of stuff and then the cruise packet.
I got material to make our FE, and started on some of the gifts. The people I work with just don't understand how a 58yo woman who's been to Disney 25 times and on a couple of cruises can still get excited about going "again". They just don't understand, do they!!!!!!

Objection to liquor?? Hah! BIG NO! We are carrying ours on. I haven't noticed a reply to anyone with a food allergy, so since there hasn't been one, I'll assume all is well. As for Nassau, when my DH and I took this cruise last October we got a cab to the Atlantis to walk around, check out the pool, etc. Unfortunately, they have many guards walking around the hotel and will NOT let you in the pool area unless you have a hotel room key or pay for the waterpark thing. So, we decided to go gambling but the slot machines were pretty expensive and we went through $100 in about 10 minutes, walked away with nothing and went back to the ship. So on THIS trip, we are staying on board! Pool is free and no one will kick us out! :) The Comfort Suites deal is great and the hotel is literally right across the street from the Atlantis and on our last trip, our taxi co-riders were doing the Comfort Suites deal. They said they check in and out at the same time and just go to the Atlantis water park all day!
Don't forget, FE sign up ends April 24 so if you plan to participate, post it SOON! Please include cabin number, names are optional but M/F and ages of all that want to participate is greatly appreciated! :) I'll post an updated list shortly of those I already have so by the time the 24th rolls around, we will be set with the majority of the list! For those enrolled already without cabin numbers, please post your cabin number as soon as you find out what it is.

no allergies, NOOOOO objection to liquor! haha
has anyone brought alcohol onto a Disney ship before? we were just thinking about doing a bunch of nipper bottles, any word on whether that's okay? (I'm just so used to the over-zealous anti-bringing-your-own liquor policies of lines like RCI, Carnival, and Princess...I can't imagine that Disney's rules on it are so loose! don't want to bring a bunch of nippers and have them confiscated :scared1:)
Steve (DBF, 29 but turns 30 just a few days after the cruise!) and myself (Tara, 27) *WILL* be doing the FE exchange, and our cabin assignment is up. No pixie dust for us, but it's about time, as an independent travel agent, that I experienced an inside stateroom. I guess. haha. our room # is 2513.

Tara,
Found this on cruisecritic.com...
Bringing Booze Onboard
Bringing liquor onboard at embarkation: Allowed, for consumption in cabin. Note, however, that fragile items (read alcohol) must be hand-carried onboard in a day bag and/or carryon, which cannot exceed 22 inches wide, 14 inches high and 9 inches deep. Beverage coolers are not permitted onboard.
Bringing wine or Champagne onboard: Passengers who request a wine steward to open and serve a bottle of champagne, wine or liquor will be charged a corkage fee of $18 per bottle.
Purchasing liquor in port: Allowed, above rules for bringing onboard during embarkation apply.
Purchasing liquor in ships' duty-free shop: Held until debarkation.

Miztigg - your at OUR end of the ship:yay:
Ickletarakins: We have brought beer and wine, etc... on past cruises. We have a wheeled bag that we specifically use for this purpose. It must be brought on as a carry-on. We'll be bringing some beer, a bottle of wine or two and a bottle of rum. As Robinkeith stated, if you take a bottle of wine to dinner, you will be charged a corking fee, but if you walk in with just a glass of your own wine, there is no charge. If you ask, your stateroom host will provide you with wine glass(s) and they are the same as used in all the bars on the ship, There is no way to determine if it is your wine in the glass or if you purchased it on the way to the dining room. Just remember, you are not permitted to take off any opened bottles of liquor/wine. You'll have to finish it or possibly give it to your stateroom host.

Hey Y'all-
So excited- the departure date is coming up quick!! We have no allergies and absolutely no objections to liquor in the fish extenders-lol. When in cruised in Feb, we brought on a few bottles of liquor and those single glass wine bottles. It worked out perfectly, although I have to admit, I had a few umbrella drinks at the pool, too! We are having fun getting our FE gifts together- we still don't have room assignments- hopefully this week!
Oh ya- we were able to get a single day room at the Comfort Suites last time. I think it came out to $389 for 4 wristbands after all of the taxes and fees... It was worth it- Atlantis is quite amazing!!

Thanks! I had found that same info that Robinkeith quoted but again...just wanted to hear from people who have actually brought alcohol on a Disney ship. We'll probably end up doing nippers and no problem with them having to be in our carry on, I did know that from the other info. I definitely don't mind and will be buying/paying for plenty of drinks, but it will be nice to have some pre-gaming options available :cool2:

DH is the beer drinker and he likes to have cans of his "usual" for when he is lounging on deck or getting ready in the room. DD(26), DS' fiance(28) and I plan to spend one of the late evenings up on deck 9 or 10 relaxing with a bottle or 2 of our favorite wine. And DS(28) - and me too - enjoys rum and coke.:goodvibes. Don't want to sound like we over imbibe or anything, but this is one of the few opportunities when we can have time to just kick back and relax together. DH generally goes to bed early (10'ish) so the little guy will be crashing with him and the rest of us will take advantage of the "free" time.
Ohhh, I can't wait. Did I mention that I am almost completely packed?!! :rotfl: That should give you a hint as to how anxious/excited I am.

We have taken liquor bottles on every Disney cruise we have taken. Our first cruise was a 50th anniversary celebration for my in-laws and husbands aunt and uncle. There were 12 of us sailing in 4 cabins. You cannot imagine the liquor that they brought on board, including cases of beer, without a problem, because we all got huge cabins with huge decks on the back of the ship and they set up "open bar" for the whole cruise. It was unbelievable. Since then, we have taken several bottles of liquor on each cruise along with mixers and lemons/ limes. We always carried it in our carry on bag and never had an issue getting on. So, I would feel fine taking on whatever you choose to drink as long as you can put it in a carry on bag.

I'm pretty sure our daughter will spend the majority of her time in any kid's activity possible. She gets a little *tired* of hanging out with mom and dad since we've always got baby-duty (her little brother is 2 and sister is 1).
It will be VERY refreshing for her to get to be having fun with kids her own age. :yay:

Hmmmm, I did my online check in a couple of weeks ago. The things that I printed off were the signature pages for the Cruise contract and the Credit Card signature pages. The luggage tags came in the mail with the stuff today.
They were not printed off with the rest of my stuff that I did online. And no where did I see to do anything like that.
There are pages in the mailed packet that are the cruise contract signature and credit card signature pages also, but You/I just use the ones printed from Disney's website. My son has not done online check in yet, so I'll have to see what he got/gets in the mail.
We had selected our specific rooms when we booked the cruise back in July'09. I don't understand why you wouldn't get the "mailed" cruise docs. From what I understand, Disney should be mailing the docs to the TA then they would send them to you.
I NEVER use a TA. I am a little obsessive/compulsive with my trips and I prefer to have control of all our reservations myself. That way if I need to make a change or anything, I am sure it is done, because I do it. But that's just me being me.
UPDATE on cruise Documents: Since I completed my required forms online, they are not included in the cruise document booklet. It does states that since I completed the information, just to bring the signed forms along and turn them in at check in. Included in the booklet are 2 luggage tags per person. These are very similar to the luggage tags used for the Magic Express, just a different color. Each luggage tag has our name, the stateroom number, the sail date and the reservation number.

Just add them to the adult list and no big worries. They are just happy to have their own cabin (even if it is next to mom and dad!)

Just so everyone knows with kids 18 and over. The drinking age on Nassau is 18! Both of our kids reminded us of that! We are staying the week following the cruise in Orlando at the Marriott Cypress Harbour resort. I traded a timeshare week for a week there. It is the first time in a LONG time that we have gone to Orlando and NOT stayed at Disney, but we've got a week at the Boardwalk for Food and Wine in the fall reserved, so we had to do it this way this trip! Can't wait!! :surfweb:

Ahhh I feel like such a slacker! I haven't even started THINKING about what I"m going to do for the FE's yet. I'm a bit short on money for the next couple of weeks, bah.

Hey, if you are short of money do not worry about spending much on the FE's! This is just for fun and not intended to be stressful or put anyone in debt!
So, I get home from a week out of town and see on this board that everyone has gotten their cruise packets! My husband, who was here all week left out of town yesterday and said nothing while I was gone. So, I go through "my" mail and see he put both packages UNOPENED in my mail pile! Helloooo! Not excited??? I can't believe it!!

That's a man for you! When ours came, DH was at home. When I phoned him in the afternoon, I asked if there was any mail and he said, "yeah, just some Junk and something from Disney cruiseline". Me, I was almost jumping up and down in my chair here at work.party:
He's excited about the trip, just not the paperwork.

That's a man for you! .
Hey, I resemble that remark.:) It was actually opposite in our house. I was excited about the docs.
Our friend, who we are treating to this cruise, called us when she got the docs and said, "You didn't tell me it was a Disney Cruise, there are no slot machines on that boat." She knows us well enough that if we do anything it is Disney.

Just a quick question. In keeping with Miztigg's idea, I just happen to be at the liquor store today and saw something representative of my state, Georgia, in the mini bottle area. Naturally, my immediate thought was to purchase these "adult" gifts for our FE's so everyone can have a little taste of Georgia on the cruise! However, it did occur to me that maybe some people don't WANT any alcoholic gifts and if so, please just let us know. That way, I'll not put them in your FE bags!
Counting down the days till we sail away....as it pours down rain in Georgia on this Saturday......:confused3

Just spent 2 days at our timeshare in north central PA (couldn't do the whole week because of work, etc). It was a nice getaway, but kind of rainy and chilly. Wishing for much warmer & dryer weather for our trip. We have 19 days untill we leave. I definately need this vacation. One slight downside is that the day before we leave, my mom has to have a cardiovert proceedure to correct an irregular heart beat. I'm sure everything will be fine, just a bit stressed about it for her. They were supposed to schedule it for sometime this week or at the latest next week, but somehow it got pushed back till May 13. But that is how it usually is with medical stuff - hurry up and wait. Most of my family works in medicine, so I know how that goes.
You all have a great week and here's hoping it goes quickly.

Well this is my first time doing the Fish Extender (Not first cruise though) and I am wondering.
Do we put who the gift is from? Do we add a name tag to the gifts or are they mysteries?

Well, my experience is limited to the last cruise we were on and the people put our cabin number as the "to" and then the "from" was the name of their family and their cabin number.
I'm doing mine the same way. Hopefully, that is ok!

Just double-checking--is this definitely the final FE list? (it's the last one that was posted) Wanted to make sure before I went out to pick up my FE "gifts" :goodvibes
ALSO...is anyone else interested in a meet-and-greet? From everything I hear on these boards, people who do them usually do so the first afternoon. If someone who has been on a Disney Cruise before wants to pick the time and the place (because we've never done a Disney cruise and aren't sure about boarding times/ship layout), we are in!

We probably can't commit to a meet and greet, With the 3 kids they are going to be running us around. But if you you all set a time/place, and if we are able, we might pop in and say Hi.
However,
If you see anyone walking around with a LIME GREEN Wristband on, feel free to say HI. I am having some made up with "Disney Wonder May 20, 2010" on them.

The FE list is final, at least as far as I am concerned. As long as everyone has reviewed it and confirmed their info is ok. I finally completed all of my FE shopping and put together the gift bags today! As it turns out, for people with kids in their cabin, there will be one gift bag for the kids and one for the adults. The adult ones have the liquor in them! Want to make sure that the kids don't think it is some small version of a soda!
Anyway, hope you all are getting as excited as I am! All the gift bags, the FE list and Our FE is now packed in a bag and ready to go!! Happy packing!!
So, who is the first to leave? Anyone going to WDW before the cruise??? If so, how long and where are you staying? I need to know who I need to be jealous of since we are leaving right before the cruise.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Well Mary, we will be arriving at WDW around 11:00am on Saturday, May 15. DH, me & DGS are traveling by the AutoTrain and will actually be starting our journey south on friday, May 14. DD,DS &DF are flying early Saturday morning. We are staying 5 nigthts at POP with 4 day park tickets and the dining plan. We'll then be heading to Port on Thursday morning at round 9:00/9:30am. We like getting there early and watching all the people and the build up of anticipation . We'll be heading to the outside area of Beach Blanket Buffet first thing, then stopping somewhere for an adult beverage. At least that's the plan.:goodvibes Right now, we're sitting at 13 days before we leave.
I am getting very excited. My suitcase has actually been packed for about 2 1/2 months - minus the underclothing...can't forget that. I finished our FE about a week ago and I have all the FE gifts finished, just have to "bag" them.
GeorgeY
05-01-2010, 09:47 PM
We want to get to the port early as well. We are leaving Orlando around 8:45am try to get there right at 10am when it opens. Hopefully get a Boarding # 2 or 3.
We are actually going to the Magic Kingdom tomorrow morning for a few hours. We live just about 15 minutes away, driveway to parking lot.
We went shopping and got all of our FE gifts. We are rather happy with what we got, so I am going to spoil the surprise a little and tell you all about something we got everyone, Some of you probably can guess from my last email.
We had LIME GREEN silicone bracelets made up, Adult and Kid sizes that say DISNEY WONDER MAY 20, 2010. We will be wearing them and will try to get them to each FE asap so if anyone else wants to wear theirs for the trip, they will have it. No obligation to wear it, just if you want to. If not it has your sail date for a little souvenir.

No hard feelings if you say you'll be there and can't make it, of course!
Only problem is, I have no idea where the best place to do this would be. Or the best time...because I've never been on a Disney cruise and it's been 2 years since my last cruise, period.
So if someone wants to suggest some times/places we will almost definitely be there (barring any major issues/emergencies) :grouphug:

I think a meet would be a great idea.
The 2 previous cruises we were on, we (Dis Board members) met on the "secret" deck on Deck 7. It is the whole way at the back of the ship, there is a single metal type door that opens onto a very nice, large open deck with lounge chairs. There is seldom anyone back there, and it has a great view of the port. What do you think?
mjmahnke
05-10-2010, 01:57 PM
We are driving down to the port THAT DAY, so I'm not sure what time we will even get on the ship, so I can't commit to a meet. However, George,, I am so excited to know that we all will be easily identified with our green bracelets from you! So, I'll definitely be watching for those!!
As for the FE's, let's start the "gift exchanging" once you hang it up and end it by 5:00 PM on the last night.
For those leaving this week. Have a SAFE trip and I am SO looking forward to seeing my fellow DISers on the cruise!! Don't forget your FE's!!!!

I was expecting DH to be home today, but no such luck! His flight has been delayed due to the volcanic ash so we are hoping that he gets a flight out soon. We still have time, though, so I am not going to panic just yet!:upsidedow

How frustrating that must be. I'm sure your whole family is very anxious to have him home. I'll say a prayer that things work out and he's home ASAP!

Is this area fairly easy to find for a Disney Wonder newbie? If so, we're down! Also...any idea about a decent time to meet? I want to say that TR's I've read where the people did a meet did so a little before the ship left Port Canaveral...but I could be wrong...

No news this morning, so that may be a good sign! If he's calling me, that means he is still at an airport and not in the air!

Well, fellow cruisers, our journey begins tomorrow morning at 7:30am. We'll be heading to Lorton, VA to hop aboard the AutoTrain. We'll arrive on Saturday morning to spend the time before the cruise at WDW. Packing the car tonight, DD,DS & DF are flying down on Saturday, but we're taking all their luggage with us.
Have the FE and gifts all ready to go into the trunk first.
Goofykids123 - So happy to hear that your DH is home.
Can't wait to meet all of you next Thursday!! :goodvibes
We'll probably be back on the Deck 7 open deck around 2:30/3:00 on Thursdy afternoon. If anyone makes it back there, just say "hi".
Have a wonderful week and you all have a safe journey.:moped:

I wanted to Thank Everyone for thier FE gifts. That was really fun. The kids loved coming back to the room to find things.
Sorry for throwing it out of whack for a bit, when we upgraded cabins, but I couldn't pass the suite upgrade.
The cruise was great. Atlantis was great. We booked another on board and got the discount. We are going on the Med Cruise in June 2011.

Hi everyone. We just got back home last evening. Back to work today.
We would like to thank everyone for the wonderful FE gifts. DGS was so excited to find "presents" when we went back to the room. I am sorry that I didn't get a chance to meet all of you. I had on my lime green bracelet from George, but seemed to miss you all. I believe I did see Tara at Palo on Friday evening and I think Bernadette and her family was near us while waiting at the terminal. We also booked onboard for another cruise. We'll be on the May 22, 2011 4 night Dream.
We had a great time and couldn't have asked for more perfect weather.
Bernadette: DH would like to know more about "The Lion Brigade", so any info for him would be greatly appreciated.

Henlady--You should have said hi! Palo was amazing, right?
I have been slammed since we got home, especially with planning this wedding. Thanks to everyone for the FE gifts. Sorry ours were a bit low on the totem pole--we had candy and nippers to add to the mix but forgot the bag at home, go figure. Now we have two giant bags of candy and no clue what to do with it all!

Hello All! We had a wonderful time on the cruise!! Thank you for all of the wonderful FE gifts!! My husband and the kids were all pleasantly surprised and they are still talking about the nice people that I 'met on the internet.' Kris, you should have knocked us on the head...we're a friendly bunch! We did not book while on board, but we are already planning to cruise again; it all depends on whether or not we stay here in GA or move on to someplace else. I will be happy to send information about THE Lion Brigade. I'm sure everyone knew from the military related items that it was the White Family, but we did not put names on the pirate shot glasses or the kids gifts. The kids received various items according to their ages, but the one constant thing that we tried to give all of the kids was a US Flag. I hope everyone enjoyed their gifts. This was our first time, but we will definitely do this again. I am glad that I had the presence of mind to ship everything before hand. Our stateroom host delivered my boxes at around 2:00 on the first afternoon.

What a fun cruise! We LOVED all of our gifts! We ended up switching rooms with the boys because they had a baby in the room next to them and they got crabby about the potential early morning crying, so we ended up in 6305 and they got the cabin with the FE on it. GoofyKids123, the boys LOVED all of the military stuff especially the wallets. They are both using them now. They said they saw your husband deliver them and we went up to your cabin twice during the cruise to meet him and thank him for the awesome gifts and his service to our country. Unfortunately, you were out and about, so if you would, thank him for us. I see you said you are in Georgia! We also live in GA. What base are you all stationed at?
Henlady - we booked the same exact cruise next year that you did!! We booked the May 22 2011 cruise on the DREAM. I'm going to go join that group now, if it exists.
Again, thanks to all for such a wonderful FE exchange! It was the first time we officially participated and now I have more great ideas of what to put in ours next time around!!
