Packing for Trip!?

Can I pack now lol..(we have 1 month, 1 week and days left)..I really wanna pack! would I be a looney if I do it now???!!! (or at least start lol)

Anyone else who won't be leaving till the end of April start packing yet?

We leave in April too and I have already started laying items, such as bathing suits, out on the spare room bed.....it feels good to be productive.

I think I may have to do just as you are doing lol. Gees, seems as if I just put away our summer clothes lol (well heck I guess thats a good thing right?!)

That is a very wise idea. That way you are 99% sure that you will have everything that you will need. My wife has a kit with medicines, toilitries etc that is always made up so it is just the clothes that we need to pack. We had a cruse booked for Jan 23'rd this year and were flying into San Juan on the 20'th but our son went into the hospital on Boxing day so on Jan 18'th, he was still in the hospital. We took down our cancellation forms for his doctor to fill out on the Sunday. On Tuesday night @ 9 PM he phones and says that the doctor would not fill out the forms as he would not need surgery at this time and that he was on his way home from the hospital. Yikes. We packed from 10-1, went to work next morning from 7-11 and pulled out of our driveway @ noon for the airport........Pack early

Packing early is a good way to see if the kids have out grown all of their summer clothes. You may end up needing to buy clothes for your trip and if you pack early, the expense of new clothes can be made over a period of time rather than all at once.

I have been packing or shall I say "stashing" for months...LOL
My husband thinks I'm NUTS!
Since its winter here its easy to pack.

I started about about a month ago...tortured the DS with trying on summer clothing to see what fits and doesn't.

I am a crazy packer..I have to have everything in its place....

I start with 8 pant hangers per person about a month ahead of time.
I put a pair of shorts , and a shirt on each hanger...then attach a zip lock to it as well with the days underwear, socks..etc..

That way when I need to pack the bags I just take the hangers out of the closet and put them into the suitcase.... once we check in. I open the bags..the hangers go right into the closet in the room. All organized and not wrinkled. the suitcases are stowed away...and the cheap dollar store pop up hamper comes out for the dirty laundry. Dirty laundry gets packed into one suitcase so it can just be carried to the laundry room and dumped in the washer.
I buy a cheap shoes organizer for the closet... put the shoes in it fold it up and that goes into the suitcase as well. Shoes are hanging in the closet and not all over the room.


It makes for easy mornings..all we have to do it take a hanger out of the closet and put on the clothing. no searching , matching clothing, or whining children

I also find when I do this I don't over pack...
Last night I snuck one suitcase out. Its march break next week here so I'll probably take the rest of them out then.

We leave the end of April. I have been pre packing. I have made the kids try on all their summer clothes and I have sorted out what I would like to bring for them. I need to start making some lists. It is never too early.

I am going at the end of April too. I wanted to start to pack, but have not yet. I bought some summer clothes for my daughter and a couple of other things we are taking, so I may pull out a suitcase this weekend;)

:) Don't forget to put in some dryer sheets if you are packing that early as suitcases can occasionally make your clothes smelly.

i havent yet- but i sooooo want to! lol i also have things stashed just for the trip here and there. another reason not to start packing yet- costco has roots luggage 2 pcs on sale this week for 93.00. its the expandable ones. im thinking of buying new luggage. we currently have our old yucky walmart luggage. so i think i might just snag a set later today.

on a side note- does anyone use what is it called heys? luggage? im looking at buying some of the packing cubes that are featured on the shopping channel. silly me they had a showstopper 7 pc set on a fwe weeks ago for 35 bucks. i fell asleep and woke up after it was long gone. now its back to i think 70. so mad at myself!!!

People always comment on it. I love being able to know which bag is mine and watching them load it on the plane, knowing that its on there safe and sound! We have the packing cubes as well.

I just rcv'd all our stuff from Disney and our Luggage tags in the mail today..so that means its PACKING time...lol

We usually start to pack about 2 weeks before we leave. But I did have the kids try on their summer clothes to check and see what fits and what we need to buy. So far swimsuits and shorts.
We need to buy more luggage and I did see the Roots luggage at Costco but when we looked at it we thought the biggest piece wasn't big enough. What do you mean by expandable??

We are a military family as well! Thats why I'm partial to the Pink Camo too..I have the matching carry-on as well!

i looked at it on the website last nite- totally love it! a bit out of my range tho. but now im looking at getting the 5 packing cubes for disney vs the three. going to check the bay first since they carry heys- atleast according to the website.

I bought my luggage at Bentley here in canada when they had the buy one get one for half price sale..got a GREAT deal on it. I love the packing cubes!!!! keeps things nice and neat!

Darn it..really! I just waked past the Bentley outlet store in the Dixie Outlet Mall in Etobicoke and they had a huge sale...Keep an eye out! I'll let you know if I see them anywhere else!!
