Just bought tickets to see Lee Mead in Wicked in July. I only have a vague idea of the story and no idea of the music but DD(16) is a huge Lee Mead fan so we should have a nice mum and daughter day out. :cool1:

OOOoh we LOVE Wicked!!! You will have an amazing experience - if you want to have a quick gander at the music, my two faves are 'Popular' and 'Defying Gravity' - gives me goosebumps every time!! Enjoy!! x

Awesome show. I hope to take my daughter in Kids Week in August - and that will be our third year running to see it. I have the CD in my car and sing along (very badly!) to Popular and then (even more badly) to Defying Gravity - and remember how good it sounds done properly.
Do you know the Wizard of Oz well, Libby? I think it increases your enjoyment more if you are very familiar with that story as you see the parallels.

It's a while since I read the book or saw the film (I don't think riding the Great Movie Ride 5 times on our last trip would really help!)
I think I'll re-read the book before the summer.
Thanks everyone, for all you enthusiastic comments, I can't wait (but in the back of my mind I'm thinking that on that day last summer I was waking up in WDW :sad2:)

You will love Wicked, we went to see it last year and it is amazing:woohoo:
I also have the soundtrack on both my Ipod and in CD, and both my DH and my DS [who is very 'into' theatre] love it and we all sing along in the car when it's on :rolleyes1
I was at a talent show at DS school last night and a young girl sang Popular from Wicked and let me say she was outstanding, sent chills up and down my spine by how good she was!
An added bonus for you when you go to seet it is that you get to see the gorgeous Lee Meade:lovestruc
Enjoy:thumbsup2

I'm sure you'll love it, Libby. We're going to see it in August ~ I've bought the CD so that all the songs will be familiar and play it constantly. :goodvibes

Oh its amazing, we saw Indina Menzel in it when it first opened in London, I cried my eyes out ...
The music is amazing, and as a lifelong fan of the Wizard of Oz, it really was the very best musical I've ever seen (sorry Disney, but the Lion King just didn't do it for me in the same way!!)
Watching Kurt sing Defying Gravity on Glee last week made me teary too ... it really is an incredible show ... enjoy!!

I've seen it three times and it is just "Wicked" !
We saw it a few days after it opened in London and got to meet the cast back-stage (ask no questions;)) Helen Dallimore and Idinah Menzels were absolutely lovely and both took a shine to my daughter who was 6 at the time.
Happy memories.

I saw an advert for it before the Alice in Wonderland film at the pictures on Saturday - I'm even more excited now.

Me too! ::yes::
It's my DDs who wanted to see Wicked ~ DH and I both preferred to see The Lion King. We couldn't agree so compromised and are seeing both. :dance3:
Like I said previously, I bought the Wicked CD so the music would be familiar but after seeing that trailer I am really, really looking forward to it.
