Hey All!!
Does anyone know if Caribben Beach still has the steel drum band that performs outside of OPR? I can remember walking through that area about 3 years ago and we stopped and listened to the band for a while---really added to the "Caribbean" feel of the resort to me. I am hoping they still perform, but am afraid they might have been one of the casualties of the recent WDW cutbacks. Anyone been to CBR lately and seen any live entertainment near OPR??

I remember them also! They were wonderful, but I don't think they're around anymore. The last few visits to CBR, they just had piped music playing around the Banana Cabana (Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, Steel Drum music, etc) but no band. :(

Hi all!
I heard that after 9/11, alot of the live entertainment at the resorts were taken away as part of the budget cuts. I remember reading that the steel drum band was let go. When I went in Nov of last year, they were no where to be found. :( I remember sitting by the pool bar and enjoying the music with a tropical drink in hand. It was a nice touch to have a real steel drum band play and give you the feeling like you are actually in the islands. I hope Disney brings them back!

Thanks everyone for the replies, although that's not what I was hoping to hear! :( Maybe things will pick up eventually and they'll be back at CBR. They sure were a nice added touch to the resort. Would love to see them back someday. Looking forward to staying at Caribbean Beach regardless, but was just hoping they were still around for some added poolside "ambiance"! ;)

Have fun!!.. We still had fun even though the steel drum band was not there. We ended up buying a cd with island music in it.. and played it in the room! It definitely helped ;)

HI, we were there in 2001 at Christmas time and they had a variation of the steel drum band that they normally have. It was a one man band with steel drums and a synthesizer. He was very good. It wasn't the same but it was much better than nothing at all.
