Hi there! And welcome to my first ever PTR! I've got a couple TRs under my belt (links are in my siggy if you're interested), but this is my first attempt at a pre-trip report. I hope I can find enough stuff to talk about to keep this somewhat entertaining for the next month and a half!
For those of you who don't know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Michelle, I am 40 years young  and I am a Disney-a-holic. This trip will be my 6th, all coming during my adulthood. My first was New Years 2001, it was a very short, spur of the moment trip, but I fell for Disney hard then and try and get back as often as my DH will allow it.
I am married to Don, aka The Disney Grump. He is not nearly as fond of all things Disney as I am, and he has put his foot down that there will be no more Disney trips for this family for a long, long time.
Here is a pic of Don and I from our most recent trip in December.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/WDW%20Christmas%202009/IMG_1602.jpg
I also have two sons. Justin, who will be 14 in just over a month (how the heck did that happen?!)
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/WDW%20Christmas%202009/IMG_2869.jpg
And Jared, who is 9
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/WDW%20Christmas%202009/IMG_1590.jpg
But, for this trip, I will not be joined by my darling boys, no this is a girls only trip - just my mom and myself. Remember, Don has told me 'NO MORE DISNEY TRIPS'!!! :headache: Well, he wouldn't deny me a get away with my mother, and she has never been to WDW, and she loves flowers and gardening. So, sneaky me, plotted a return trip by showing my mom pictures of the beautiful Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. She decided that she would like to go. Yippee!! :yay: I convinced Don that since I have an AP and could use the AP discount for our room, that it really wouldn't be all that expensive. He agreed, so the planning began. :woohoo:
This is a picture of my mom, it's from about a year ago, but she looks pretty much the same.

So, there you have it, that is how this trip came to be. We are booked for 7 nights at CSR, May 1st thru the 8th. I'll be back soon with more details!

Choosing a resort......
So, I really wanted to stay at a Boardwalk hotel for this trip (as I always do, and never get to  ), but Mom couldn't get past the sticker shock of paying for a deluxe. I told her that I really only had two requirement when it came to where we would stay - it will be on site, and it won't be a value ;)
She looked at a few resort photos with me and we decided on Coronado Springs. I've stayed here once before, and while it was very pretty around the resort, I didn't care for the rooms and I didn't really like the looooooong walk to the main building. That being said, I do like the looks of the referbished rooms - and I'll get a whole queen bed all to myself! :woohoo: And, I've learned that just being in a deluxe resort doesn't mean that your walking distance to shops and restaurants will any shorter (like Wigd's 40,000 steps to her villa in December! ) so all and all I think this will be a good decision.
What I'm trying to decide on now is whether or not I should request a certain room location. We stayed in Cabanas last time, and while it was close to the main pool, it was a haul to get to the main building. Do any of you have any experience with this resort? Have a favorite section? I think I'm leaning towards asking for Castias just because it's bus stop is the first picked up and the first let off - might help with not having to stand on the bus. Or maybe I'll just take my chances and see what they give me......

Michelle, We stayed at CSR back in 2003, during a 4/3 deal. I thought the resort was really pretty too, and now I think the rehabbed rooms are beautiful (and YAY for queen sized beds:woohoo: ).
At that time, I was not the DISer I am today. I didn't even know I could request a building.......So young and ignorant, I was! ;) By some stroke of luck, we actually had a great spot. We were in Casitas, building 5---convenient to a bus stop, and not too far a walk to the pool. I think it took about 5 minutes to walk to the main building.

We stayed at CSR over spring break a couple of years ago and ended up in Casitas. It was a pretty good spot -- it was the building closest to the main buildings and the main pool. I would request Casitas though because I think it is close to just about everything. I would NOT want to end up in Ranchos which are the farthest from everything it seems.
I love the look of those new refurbed rooms. So pretty! :lovestruc Not to mention, the great food court, the big gift shop, and that fabulous pool and pool bar. Perfect for an adults getaway! :goodvibes

Just noticed this but I'm here now!!!!
We have requested Casitas 4 or 5 simply because they are close to the first bus stop. I figure that is the thing we will use the most and they are about 1/2 way between El Centro and the Dig Site, 2 things we will use slightly less. I also would accept cabanas 8 for the same reasons but that is bus stop 3 (not sure if that will be a big deal in May) Who knows, maybe we'll end up neighbors!

I didn't find the DIS until my 3rd trip - so I can relate to the ignorant phase! I've never requested a certain section of a resort, just took what they gave me, and have never really been disappointed. I do think I'm leaning towards asking for Casitas 4 or 5, seems like a pretty good spot.

Arrival Day - Saturday, May 1st
Our flight leaves OKC at 7:30 in the morning, not too terribly early, and we arrive at MCO at 12:55. I'm hoping we will be at CSR around 2:30, if we are lucky maybe even earlier. For those of you who read my last TR, you will remember that I got myself turned around in the airport and took us to the wrong place - that will not happen this time - I will never forget again that ME is on the 'B' side!!
I'm thinking that I'll do online check in prior to us leaving to save a bit of time once we arrrive. Then Mom and I will change into our swimsuits and head to the Dig Site pool. I will have a book and a

We'll stay at the pool until it's time to head back to the room to get ready for dinner. I'm leaning towards just taking a cab to AKL

Mom and I will explore AKL a bit after dinner, then head back to CSR to unpack and rest up for our first full park day!

Yeah, I really don't care what my view is - if we had a balcony it would be different, but we don't sit in our room and stare out the window anyway, so it really doesn't matter to me what kind of room view we have. Convenience to a bus stop and a place to refill my mug is most important to me. :thumbsup2

I sure hope day one pans out as planned - right now it seems too perfect for words :cloud9:
About the cab - I'm with ya, It will just take so much more time to wait for a park bus, then wait for another bus to AKL. We took a cab a few times during this last trip and it was usually between $10-$15 with tip, not bad at all considering how much time we saved.
This will be very easy to get used to, so just be warned...

Thanks ladies! We are in Memphis - and so far things are NOT going as planned, a health issue with Justin caused us to get a late start yesterday, so we didn't make it all the way here. Then Don had a conference call that went waaaaay longer than it was supposed to this morning, so we didn't even get to Memphis until 1:00, ate some lunch and now it's really too late to go do anything on our list. :sad2: The boys are wanting to swim, so I guess I'll take them down to the indoor pool here - something to keep them occupied for awhile anyway.

Nice first day! Great view, great meal, relaxation....:thumbsup2
Don't we all look up any time we hear 'Mom' in a store or wherever, even if we know our kids aren't even around?!?!? Mine are grown, but when I hear someone call for Mom in a store, my reflex action is to look up.
I hope Justin is better. Are you going to the zoo?
Hi MeMom! Thanks for coming over :goodvibes
Nice to know that even once my kids are all grown up, I'll still be on "Mom" alert!
Justin's deal was strange, but aside from causing us to get a late start on Monday, it didn't effect our trip. He seems to be feeling fine now.
We did go to the zoo - I was impressed, it's really nice!
Hey Michelle, I'm FINALLY here! ;) You and your mom are going to have such a wonderful time!!! Your first day sounds absolutely PERFECT! :thumbsup2 Hope Justin is feeling better....
Hey there Lynne!
Justin is feeling better, thanks.
Hey all! We are back from our little trip to Memphis and we really had a good time once we got past the first day. I'm trying to get caught up on the DIS right now, and once I do I'll get some pictures uploaded to share!

I love all of your first day plans!
Haven't stayed at CSR yet, but I believe that there is an entire thread devoted to fans of CSR on the resort board... perhaps you could check it out?

I'm finally here! I can't wait til I can make the rule of "no value resort" hehe but while I'm a college student- I can't really be picky! hehe
I have always like that resort- its was always one of my favorite themes.. but I have never been in the rooms.
This will be a nice trip- just you and your mom. I would love to do that with my mom someday. We are planning a trip for next year with the entire family- and I'm excited because its their first time staying onsite and going to the parks besides Magic Kingdom.

Well, I'm sure if my choices on resorts were to go value or not go at all - I'd choose value! Don and I had NO money when we were first married and I was still in school, so I love that you can find a way to go. :thumbsup2
This will be the 2nd trip that mom and I have taken, just the two of us. We went to Hawaii in 2005 and had a fabulous time. I highly recommend mother/daughter bonding time :goodvibes

Hi Becky! I'm so glad that you're here!! I'm with ya, it stinks that we were so close and couldn't work it out. But, with you trying to get your house ready to sell and Don's crazy work schedule that kept changing, it just wasn't meant to be. :sad1: I'm sure I'll get a chance to go with him again in the future and we'll definitely meet up then!
I can just say how incredibly crazy it is to live in this state?! Yesterday we had a high of 70 degrees, it was beautiful! We had a cold front move in late in the evening and this morning it is below freezing and we are expected to get between 4-6 inches of SNOW today! :headache: Will this winter ever end?!!!
I've got my pictures uploaded from our little trip to Memphis so I'll get those posted soon. You all know me and pictures by now, so it shouldn't surprise you that it is going to span about 4 posts.....

:sad2: I took the boys to the park on Thursday wearing just sweatshirts and we got 5 inches of snow last night! Thank goodness it's already starting to melt today because we JUST melted off the last of this horrible winter! We are sitting at #3 for the most snowfall in a season with only 3 inches to go to break the record which is entirely possible in Iowa with 1 month still before the average last snowfall.
May 1 can't come fast enough!!!! Only 6 weeks to go :woohoo:

Our Spring Break Memphis trip
Our plan was to leave OKC late in the afternoon on Monday, right after Justin's baseball practice ended, but things didn't quite work out that way. On Sunday night Justin began complaining that he was having pains in his chest, we assumed that it was indigestion and gave him some antacids, that seemed to help, but he said he was still having some sharp pains on occasion. The next day, he seemed fine, until he got to baseball practice. I dropped him off and his coach called about 30 minutes later and said Justin was complaining that his chest hurt and he couldn't catch his breath. We went and picked him up and he was really hurting. We called his doctor and spoke to the nurse, she felt like it was muscle related and said they were about to close for the day and couldn't see him - that kinda aggravated me, but anyway. We took him next door to a clinic by the school that we've gone to on occasion in the past and they wouldn't see him unless we signed him over to them as a full time patient. That confused the heck out of me because we've taken both kids there before when we couldn't get in to see their regular pediatrician and never had a problem. So, we ended up having to take him to a minor emergency clinic, which took FOREVER. Good news is, they listened to his lungs and his heart, even did an ekg just to be safe and they found nothing. The doctor said it was probably muscle or skeletal related and that he probably wasn't drinking enough water. Apparently this kind of thing is common in teenaged boys, but I've never heard of it, we were a bit worried!
Minor emergency finally behind us, we got on the road about 6:30pm. Don had a conference call at 7:30 in the morning so he didn't want to get to bed too late, so instead of driving all the way to Memphis we stopped in Little Rock for the night. Don's conference call Tuesday morning went on and on and on, it was nearly 1:00 by the time we got checked into the hotel in Memphis, and Don had another conference call at 1:30. At this point I was not so sure coming along to Memphis was such a good idea! The kids and I walked next door and had lunch at Pei Wei, then went back to the hotel. Don had a meeting at 4:00, so we really didn't have time to go anywhere. I took the kids down the to indoor/outdoor heated pool, but if it was heated it wasn't kept very warm - the boys were freezing and only lasted about 10-15 minutes, so that was a bust too! Finally, I got on line and found a mall. The boys and I went shopping for awhile while Don went to his meeting. I found a Disney store and looked around a bit and bought the Princess and the Frog. We went back to the hotel and watched it on my laptop, my silly boys who refused to go see a 'girl' movie with me when it was at the theater, really liked it! Then we went to dinner at Carrabba's where a waitress proceeded to spill a full glass of ice water all over me! Thankfully, we were close to the hotel, so I left the boys there and went back to change out of my soaked clothes. At least my dinner was comped!
Wednesday things finally got better! Don had a meeting at our hotel that morning, so the boys and I took the car and headed to the Memphis Zoo. I was really impressed, the zoo was very nice, and they reciprocated my membership to the OKC zoo, so we got in for half price - woo hoo!

Then we headed back to the hotel to pick up Don. We stopped and grabbed some lunch then made our way to the National Civil Rights Museum. Jared had recently read a book on Martin Luther King Jr and he was very interested in learning about the Civil Rights Movement and in seeing where MLK was shot and killed.

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3227.jpg
You start the tour off by viewing a 30 minute film called 'The Witness', it is the story of Dr. King's last few days as told by the man who was on the balcony with him when he was shot. It was a very informative, very moving film. We had paid extra for the audio tour, since the boys would much rather have a story told to them instead of reading it. It was worth the extra $$ for that for sure. We all enjoyed our tour, it was a great educational experience for the boys. You are also able to go across the street to the old boarding house where James Earl Ray fired that fatal shot. They have the bathroom where it is believed the shot came from encased in glass for you to see. They also have some interactive stations where you can see all the evidence the police gathered and how they tied him to the crime. It was very interesting!

On Thursday we got up and packed our things to go home. We were planning on going to Graceland this morning before heading out of town, so we left our bags with bell services and went to visit Elvis. Of course, Don again had a conference call - this time it was at 9:30, thankfully this one was short and didn't delay us too much! First stop on our tour was the mansion itself.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3272.jpg
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3273.jpg
We were told that Elvis bought it and the 13 acres it sits on when he was just 22 years old for just $100,000. I'm sure that was a big sum back then, but it seemed so cheap to me! We were allowed to take pictures inside, but no flash could be used, so some of these will be a little dark.
First was the formal living room and music room
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3236.jpg
Upstairs, where guests are not allowed
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3237.jpg
Dining room
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3238.jpg
Very dated kitchen!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3239.jpg
In the next few rooms you can really see Elvis's sense of style, or lack there of!
Hang out area in the basement, where they would watch TV and listen to music
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3242.jpg
Pool room - isn't this just awful?!

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3246.jpg
And the famous Jungle room - that green shag carpet was even on the ceiling!

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3249.jpg
The kids really got a kick out of seeing all that 70's 'style'
Next we went outside to see the offices in the back, the horse stables and then the trophy room - this place was packed with awards and gold records!

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3255.jpg
Next we went into the racquetball building, the front part was used to hang out, and play games and music
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3262.jpg
The actual racquetball court has now been changed into a memorabilia room

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3267.jpg
The final stop on the Graceland grounds is a visit to the gravesites of Elvis and his parents

We then took a shuttle back across the street where we went to Don's favorite portion of the tour
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3274.jpg
I'm only including a handful of pictures, there were probably a dozen or more cars, plus motorcycles and small motorized vehicles in that building - Elvis obviously loved cars!

The famous pink Cadillac

We went through a couple more exhibits, then headed over to see his private jet

It would be nice to fly like this!

Finally, we stopped at the on site diner to grab some lunch, it was decorated like a 1950s soda shop - so cute!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3291.jpg
Went back to the hotel to grab our bags, then headed for home! It was a fun couple of days and nice to get out of town and see something different!

Your plans sound good - much better than mine, sitting in the house watching the snow fall....... :headache:
But it's March Madness time!!!! If you have to be stuck inside, at least you have quality B-ball to watch! (Might I recommend cheering Northern Iowa as they take on Kansas today :rolleyes1 Everyone loves and underdog right?)
Yikes, what a rough start to your mini-vacation! Looks like you salvaged it OK though. The zoo looks nice and I would love to visit the civil rights museum, I bet it's a pretty moving place to go. I've never been a big Elvis fan but Greg has said he wants to visit Graceland so I suspect we will end up there someday.

I do love college basketball! Just 15 minutes until the games start for today! I was on Don's blackberry all the way home Thursday checking scores to the games. :thumbsup2 Funny you mentioned Northern Iowa. They had some fans on the local news last night (OKC is a host site for the first two rounds this year) and they were talking about the crazy weather we've had this week - cool, then warm, now snow! But, I'm sorry to say, I just can't root against Kansas, can't go against my school's conference! Unless they were playing Texas - then I could ;)

Yeah, we didn't have the best start that's for sure!
The Civil Rights Museum was very well presented. I never would have had that on my list of places to visit either if Jared hadn't asked about it - leave it to a 9 year old to educate his mother!
I've always liked Elvis, my mom was a big fan so it rubbed off. I remember when he died, I was only 8 years old, but I remember watching all the footage of it and crying with my mom. My kids knew he was a big deal, but had no idea how HUGE until they saw all his stuff - they were impressed!

Graceland was great - but be prepared, it's a money pit! It was $106 for the 4 us to take the tour, not to mention the many gift shops and eateries. I figured it was a once in a lifetime thing though, so I didn't mind the expense. It was all very cool to see.

Great pics!! It looks like ya'll had a great time!! The Disney Store you went to is only 10 minutes from my house! It's the only Disney Store in the area! I was actually there on Tuesday picking up my copy of The Princess and the Frog! And would you believe that I've lived in Memphis for 21 years and I've never been to the Civil Rights Museum or Graceland?! Our zoo is fabulous isn't it?! We love going!!

Unless they were playing Texas - then I could ;)
UNI is on spring break this week and they probably assumed it would be warmer there. They should not be surprised by crazy weather...they live in Iowa!
It's funny how we feel about opponents, I'm a UNI fan first and ISU second, I do NOT like Iowa but when they are doing well, I do enjoy watching them. When they were undefeated in football this past season, I did find myself cheering for them just a little

What a fun trip you had!! You saw so many different kinds of animals!!! :thumbsup2 Love the baby giraffe! Must have been very young because I think they are 6 feet tall when they are born. (One of my Samantha Brown specials ingrained in my head :rotfl2:)
Graceland looks like it was very worthwhile....I will have to show the pictures to my parents....they are both big Elvis fans. Wow that pool room is absolutely hideous!!! Could you imagine having a few drinks and then walking into that room? :rotfl2:

Oh my gosh, how funny! What time of day where you there? I sure hope we weren't at the mall at the same time and didn't even know it!
Isn't it strange how we can live right by things forever and never go see them? We have a beautiful memorial downtown from the Murrah building bombing in 1995 and I had never gone to see it until we had family in from out of town that wanted to go.
Yes, we really enjoyed the zoo, it was very nice!

It was a fun little trip! The zoo was really nice, we enjoyed it. The baby giraffe was so cute, I'm sure they had a sign up telling when it was born, but I missed it.

I was a little nervous with Justin, I just didn't know what it was. All I could think about were the stories you here about young athletes collapsing and dying from heart conditions they never knew they had. :sad2: Thankfully it was nothing serious at all.
I didn't know about the Civil Rights Museum there either, my 9 year old had to tell me about it!

I was hoping to get to tour the Sun Studio and see Beale Street as well, but time didn't allow for it, maybe I'll get back there with Don sometime in future.
Graceland was interesting, I figured we couldn't go to Memphis and not visit Elvis! That jet was something else, even with the dated decor it looked awesome.

After Justin's scare and the rough start to your Memphis trip, it looks like you had a fabulous time! I thought it was really neat that the entrance of the Memphis Zoo was all Egyptian -- I guess because there was a Memphis in ancient Egypt? The zoo, itself, looks like a lot of fun! The boys always make me laugh with their photo poses.
The Civil Rights museum must have been a very moving experience. One day I would like for my two to see that.
Elvis' decorating style was cracking me up -- that pool room!:laughing: How cool to see where he lived!

I thought the Egyptian motif was interesting too, I noticed a sign that said why they went with that theme, but I got distracted and never went back to read it!
I was really glad that Jared suggested the museum, it was a good thing for them as well as Don and I to experience.
I couldn't believe that pool room, and what was even more amazing is that they made a point of saying that that room had been professionally decorated. Seriously?? I professional decorator suggested that the same loud fabric be drapped all over the walls, the ceiling AND the furniture????

Yes! The audio did say that the two rooms in the basement (the navy & yellow room and the pool room) were professionally decorated! I don't remember if they said that about the jungle room or not, but I'm guessing it was too. I sure hope he didn't pay them alot of money for their services :lmao:

Day 2 - Sunday, May 2nd
I think I mentioned before that Mom has never been to WDW, so I really want to cater the trip towards things that she is interested in doing. She is most excited to see all the flowers and topiaries at Epcot for the Flower & Garden Festival, but after that, the park she is most interested in visiting is Animal Kingdom. So, we will start day 2 with a trip to
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Animal20Kingdom20Entrance.jpg
I will break down our list of things to do by land.
Dinoland: Only one thing appeals to Mom here and that is Finding Nemo - The Musical, and then she only wants to do it if time permits.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/FindingNemoMusical_700x391.jpg
The rest of Dinoland is on the 'won't do' list.
Asia: Our 'must do' list is longer here! They include Kali River Rapids
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/kali-river-rapids.jpg
Expedition Everest (this is my must do - not sure if Mom will try it yet or not!)
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Expedition-Everest-Yeti-783404.jpg
And the Maharajah Jungle Trek
If time permits we may see Flights of Wonder.
Africa: We have to ride the Safari and do the Pangani Forest Trail.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/safariridenamego8.jpg
We'll skip Rafiki's Planet Watch and the Character Trails at Camp Minnie-Mickey, but we must, must, must see Festival of the Lion King!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Festival-of-the-Lion-King.jpg
Discovery Island: Have to see It's Tough to be a Bug, I love that show, and I also think Mom will enjoy the trails around the tree.
Now, for the most important part of the day - food :lmao:
Lunch today will be counter service, probably at Yak & Yeti
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/7a8cd01c0.jpg
or possibly
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/ak_piz1.jpg
We also HAVE to stop by the
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Dawa_Bar_in_Disneys_Animal_Kingdom.jpg
for a Lost on Safari. And at some point I will really need to have a jalapeno cheese stuffed pretzel - yum!
We will probably take a break in the afternoon and head back to the resort to freshen up. Then we'll head to Epcot for our first glimpse of the
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/epcot_flower_festival_tinkerbell-re.png
We have a 6:25 ADR at one of my favorite Disney restaurants
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/tutto-italia-ristorante-1-12.jpg
After dinner we will shop around World Showcase (with no little boys sighing and asking me to hurry up ;) ), probably grab a Grey Goose Slush (I have not yet tried one of these and this MUST be rectified! :thumbsup2 )
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/BirthdayTrip09308.jpg
and wait for Illuminations
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/3229899929_abf1a2f40f.jpg
If we aren't too tired we might pop over to the Magic Kingdom for a bit of extra magic hours, but I have a feeling if we do go, we won't last long!

I'll keep watching too!

Goodness, I was behind two updates. It looks like you guys had a good time in Memphis. My sister and her husband go there pretty often for long weekends but I've never been. As for Graceland, I guess the decor was pretty modern back when he had it done. Don't know if I would have liked it even back then though.
I love the Animal Kingdom and think your plans look very good. For some reason, we just can't seem to like the Finding Nemo show. We've tried it a couple of times and each time, we come out disappointed. Guess it's just us.:confused3 Now, the Festival of the Lion King is a totally different story. Fantastic is one of the words that I often use to describe it.

I'm kind of shocked that they can't book the desert party yet. I would like to see pictures of the offerings and seating area - hope you get a ressie! I enjoyed your Memphis pictures. My son & I went to Graceland when DH was at a conference - the place is so 70's cheesy, but kind of cool. Did you get a bunch of snow dumped on you this weekend? We got 10-12 inches at our house & had a interesting trip trecking to Tulsa for a concert. Crazy!

Yeah, the Graceland decor is very 70's, I'm sure it was all the rage when it was done - but I'm with ya, I'm sure I wouldn't have liked that pool room at least!
Finding Nemo is not nearly as good as FOTLK, but I enjoy it - if for no other reason than to take a break in the A/C :thumbsup2

We were in Memphis just tagging along with Don while he worked too. I thought Graceland was pretty cool too.
We didn't get near the snow that they had predicted, only about an inch - it all went NE of us, to you obviously! Isn't it crazy having a snow storm like that this time of year?? What concert did you go to?

I HATE Dinosaur, I only go on it because my kids like it. It's way too jerky and bumpy for my taste. I don't think Mom would like that aspect of it either - the scary isn't so bad.
I wish that was my Illuninations photo! Isn't it awesome?! But, it's not - almost all of the pictures in my plans I found using google.

I can't wait for Mom to experience this attraction, I just know she is going to love it!
We'll also head over to The Seas to take a spin in a clamshell and say hey to Crush

Last, but not least, on the Future World ride circuit will be
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Walt20Disney20World20Epcot20Future2.jpg
Today we also have the Behind the Seeds Tour - I've always thought it would be an interesting tour to take - I hope I'm right!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/land_pump.jpg
For lunch I had been planning on eating at the Cantina in Mexico, but it will be closed while we are there, so instead I think we will eat in Norway
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/3469213421_8152b98a2b.jpg
I've never eaten there, but I've heard they have good sandwiches and I'm pretty sure that I need to try that school bread that everyone always raves about!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/3327883119_7716ceca56.jpg
We will take plenty of time this afternoon to take in all the flowers and topiaries out for the F&G Festival, and we may try and take either the English Tea Garden Tour or the Fragrance Tour in France.
Dinner tonight will take us to the Grand Floridian
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/grand-floridian-hotel-001.jpg
We have a 6:20 ADR @ The Grand Floridian Cafe. This is another new restaurant for me and I'm looking forward to trying it!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/GFCAFE_1_998.jpg
I have nothing planned for after dinner, we may look through the shops at the GF and then call it a night, or we may head back to Epcot or hop over to the MK, or we might go to DTD for a couple of hours to shop there - we'll just do whatever strikes us at the time!

Hi Jen and :welcome: to my PTR! Glad you followed me over!
Thanks for the compliment on my pics. I have a DSLR Canon Rebel xsi, I love it! Almost all of the zoo pics were taken with the zoom lens, it's a Canon lens EFS 55-250mm. The one thing about the DSLR that is kinda of a pain is switching out the lenses - if I wanted to take a picture of the boys many of the times I had to switch out the lens, take my picture and then put the zoom lens back on for the animal shots. Takes some extra time, but the results are worth it :thumbsup2

5 WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!!
:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:
This weekend should keep me busy, both boys are playing in a baseball tournament (thankfully at the same park!). The park is about a 45 minute drive from our house. Both of them had a game last night and both have 2 today, 1 each definitely tomorrow and then more if either of their teams finish in the top 4 and move on to bracket play. Only problem is the stupid wind is blowing like crazy this weekend! Last night it was 20-30 mph, they say today is going to be worse with gusts up to 50 mph  it's coming out of the south right now, but is supposed to turn from the north later this afternoon - that could be flat cold!!

I love watching my kids play baseball, but today it was not fun - that wind was bad! It's been a tale of two tournaments for the boys. Jared's team is 3-0 with one pool play game to go, they are pretty much assured of making the championship bracket. Justin's team on the other hand is 0-3, yikes! They were competitive, just came up short all three games. They have one game tomorrow and that will be it for them this weekend.

Unfortunately we don't own any sleeping bags - I may need to go get one for tomorrow though! It was c-c-c-cold today! I was bouncing back and forth between two different fields watching the boys play - Justin's field wasn't so bad because the wind was at our back, but on Jared's it was in our face, so yes, we ate more than our fair share of dirt today!
I knew it! I have an xsi as well! I love it so much I'm surprised I haven't named it! :rotfl: I haven't invested in any additional lenses yet...but I have my heart set on a 50mm fixed...now I want the zoom lens. Sigh...

Ugggg, I woke up with my head feeling like a bowling ball this morning I was so stuffy from being out in that wind! I wanted to go right back to bed, but had to get up and get ready for church. We had ground breaking on a new wing the church is building and the bishop for our district was there to preach - I didn't want to miss that! I was very glad I went. Of course, then it was right back out to the ballpark!

Baseball was good for Jared's team this weekend, they made the championship bracket but lost in the semi's by 1 run! They ended up in 3rd place, so it was still a good weekend. Justin's team struggled a bit, but ended on a possitive note with a win, it wasn't enough to get them into the championship bracket, but at least they didn't go out with a loss.

Day 4 - Tuesday, May 4th
I am super excited for this day because we will finally get to the Magic Kingdom! (assuming of course that we don't make it over for EMHs on Sunday night) I chose today for MK because there is no Spectro on this day, I'm hoping that helps keep the crowds lower.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Magic20Kingdom.gif
I am so excited for Mom to experience the sights and smells of Main Street, mmmmmm can't you just smell the fresh cinnamon rolls from the bakery? We may even have to pop in to get one!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/DSC02842.jpg
There is always a long list of 'must do's' for MK! I'll start in Tomorrowland:
Space Mountain
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/800px-Magic_Kingdom_Space_Mountain.jpg
Tomorrowland Transit Authority (even though they have practically ruined it with that new lame spiel! :headache: )
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/tta.jpg
Buzz Lightyear
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/2770028389_428a143ccf.jpg
Carousel of Progress - as cheesy and outdated as it is, I love it and I know Mom will get a kick out of it too.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Carousel_of_Progress_in_the_Magic20.jpg
If time allows we may do Astro Orbiter - great views, but it does make me a bit queasy, so it's on the 'maybe' list, I'll do it if Mom wants to.
Will not do:
Indy Speedway - too slow and smelly!
Stitch - no explanation needed!!!!!
Monster's Inc - I know everyone seems to love this show, but Mom and I both have a fear of being singled out, so that will keep us far away from the Laugh Floor!
Fantasyland:
It's a Small World - I told Mom it was a Disney rite of passage, she had to ride it at least once!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/orlando_009p.jpg
Peter Pan's Flight - I'm not sure what it is about it, it's just an attraction that I love. I smile every time I hear the music for it on Mouse House Radio. :cloud9:
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/disney-magic-kingdom-peter-pan-flig.jpg
Mickey's PhilharMagic - my favorite of all the Disney 3D shows, it's just fabulous!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/mickeysphilharmagic.jpg
I doubt we'll do any other Fantasyland rides, we may throw in a few if time allows, but I can tell you there will be no ride on the teacups for me!
Toontown:
I love Barnstormer, but would feel very silly being two adults riding on it, so I doubt we will. We may check out Mickey and Minnie's houses though before they go away for good.
Frontierland:
Must do: Splash and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/wdw-splash-mountain-400-3.jpg
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/big-thunder-mountain-400-1.jpg
If time allows maybe we'll go over to explore Tom Sawyer Island, I've never been over there.
Liberty Square:
The Haunted Mansion is a must do and probably The Hall of Presidents too. We'll ride the Riverboat if we have time, never done that either.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/800px-The_Haunted_Mansion_Magic_Kin.jpg
Adventureland:
Gotta see the Pirates!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/piratesofthecaribbean431.jpg
And take the silly cruise through the jungle.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/jungle-cruise-adventureland-magic-k.jpg
Lunch will be CS again. This time at Columbia Harbour House
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Columbia_harbour_house.jpg
Love the Anchor's Away sandwich
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/DSC02974.jpg
For a snack I'm really hoping that they still have the yummy cinnamon almonds that we had in December.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/WDW%20Christmas%202009/IMG_2108.jpg
Dinner is at the Polynesian
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/frontresort.jpg
at Kona Cafe

Originally our ADR was for 6:10, but I moved it back to 5:20 when I was able to book the Wishes Dessert Party :woohoo: I want to have plenty of room for all those yummy desserts! I can't tell you how excited I am about this. I'm also so excited for Mom to see Wishes, I'm certain that she's never seen a fireworks show like this one!

Love Day 4 plans. We, being my goofy DH and I, do all the Fantasyland rides--I love Pooh and he loves Dumbo. I'm with you...don't like being singled out and we really didn't care for Laugh Comedy anyway.

Mom is popping on every now and then and reading this PTR as well, so I think the pictures are helping her get a better idea of what to expect. They do add to the excitement!
No plans to do the tea, I'm really NOT a tea drinker, don't like it at all to be honest, although it does look really nice! I think our schedule is pretty full anyway, not sure when I'd squeeze it in.

I'm not a fan of celery or onions in my tuna salad either and I really liked my sandwich so there must not be any in there, if there was it was chopped awfully small :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, I love Mouse House Radio - it's a great Disney fix! It is an internet station, you can find it on live365.com, they have several Disney related stations but Mouse House Radio is my favorite. Nothing like surfing the web listening to Disney theme park music! :cloud9:

Gotta do Barnstormer! I want to do all of Toontown just because I don't know what's going and what's staying in terms of the Fantasyland expansion.
I listened to part of the new TTA narration and was thorougly upset that they had to go and ruin my all-time favorite ride!

So many things to comments on. I am not sure I knew that this was your Mom's 1st ever trip to WDW....how fun to get to see her experience WDW for the 1st time!
And what is this about *you* being married to the Disney Grump?:confused3 I thought I was!
Laughing at your reminder to yourself to stick to Terminal B for ME...I wonder how many of us have gotten lost on our way to ME.:rotfl:
What a wonderful agenda for your 1st day...Dig pool with margaritta in hand. Can't beat that! Plus, as you say, no one yelling "Mom...Mom...Mom!":rotfl:
Capping it off with Jiko and exploring AKL - what a wonderful 1st day!
Great TR about TN. How fascinating about the MLK museum. I had no idea it was built around the actual Lorraine Motel. Those photos of the museum...with the old cars and the wreath on the balcony look so erie...like time has stood still. I hope to visit there one day and see the tour you mentioned.
Also very interesting about Graceland. Funny, I assumed the mansion would be much larger. I can't believe how they have preserved everything so well! And the exhibits with the cars and airplane must have been so interesting.
What is this about a "Lost on Safari" at the Dawa Bar? I have never heard of this...do tell!
And I will also confess to never indulging in a Grey Goose slushie. I as well will be rectifying that this trip.
As for the Norway Kringala Bakery, may I recommend that one of you get the School Bread and the other get the Cloudberry Horn? I did not care much for the School Bread (I know I am in a minority here), but the Cloudberry Horn is my absolute favourite snack in all of WDW. I plan on indulging in quite a few over our 11 days in the World!
BTW - we will also be at the MK on May 4th. Hopefully we will run into you once or twice. Then we won't be strangers at the Cinco de Mayo meet!;)
And I would totally do the Barnstormer if I were you. Who knows if it will be around once the renovations start.
Tom Sawer's Island and the Riverboat are also on our to-do list. The kids and DH have never done them before and I haven't been in years and years and years.
And I keep hearing about those cinammon almonds....I must check those out too!:goodvibes

Gotta do Barnstormer! I want to do all of Toontown just because I don't know what's going and what's staying in terms of the Fantasyland expansion.
I'm pretty sure that the Barnstormer will be the only Toontown attraction remaining when they are finished, and it is being re-themed.

Also very interesting about Graceland. Funny, I assumed the mansion would be much larger. I can't believe how they have preserved everything so well! And the exhibits with the cars and airplane must have been so interesting.

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA the last few days. I had to make an unexpected trip to Minnesota, my Grandmother passed away. It was tough, but for the best. She's had severe Alzheimer's for many years, so the Grandma I knew has been gone already for quite some time. She was my last remaining grandparent, it's really sad to think that they are all gone now, what an amazing generation they came from. I miss them all terribly.
Anyway, so that's where I've been.......In the car......driving......forever......
My brother, mom & I left at 5am Wednesday morning, drove 13 1/2 hrs to my Dad's hometown. Went to the viewing and to dinner with the family. Thursday was the funeral, we left late Thursday afternoon and drove a couple of hours south to my Mom's hometown to visit her sisters, then got up at 4:30am yesterday and drove 11 1/2 hrs home. Now I have to get ready for Easter tomorrow - I'm beat!!

I'm trying to take a bit of time here and get caught up on the DIS, so I'll get over there soon - what I should be doing is going to the grocery store!

Like I told Anita before, really, she has been gone a long time already. That awful disease took the Grandmother that I knew and loved many years ago. She was just a shell of the great lady she once was. I think all of us were regrieving the loss we already had on the day of her funeral. It was a tough day, but as some of you have said, good to be with family that I don't often see being as they are so far away.

We had a busy weekend around here! I got home from Minnesota a little after 5 on Friday night. Jared had a baseball game at 7:30 (yes, his coach entered them in a Fri/Sat tournament on Easter weekend - once baseball season starts for us, it doesn't end until late July!) Anyway, we loaded up in the car not long after I got home and went to his game. They won 8-7, so moved on to Saturday.
Saturday we didn't have to be at the ballpark until 6:15 in the evening so I spent the morning getting caught up on the DIS, cleaned the house some, went to the grocery store and then made a dessert to take to my Mom's for Easter. Got to the ballpark only to find that they were a full game behind, our game that was supposed to start at 6:55 didn't start until around 8:30. Won that game so played in the championship right afterwards. They won that one as well, but we didn't leave the ballpark until 11:30, got home and to bed after midnight!
Of course, I wasn't about to let the family skip church on Easter Sunday, so I got everyone up to go to early service and Sunday school. :thumbsup2 We took some pictures of us all dressed up for church, well Don & I were dressed up - the boys, not so much

Don took one of me with my guys

And then Justin took one of Don & I together (as you can see, he is growing his gotee back - I'm glad, he looked very funny to me without it!)

After church we headed home to hunt eggs. In the past I have gone all out for Easter - wrapped gifts, full buckets and tons of candy filled eggs to hunt. This year was very different, I cut way back, mostly because the boys are really growing out of enjoying it. It's so sad that they are growing up so fast! :sad1:
Anyway, here they are with their Easter 'buckets' because baskets are too 'girly'

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3338.jpg
It was a beautiful day, so we hid the eggs outside. This year in lieu of candy, the eggs were filled with money - and there were alot fewer of them! The kids were pretty pumped to be getting cash though!

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3355.jpg
Afterwards, I made deviled eggs and baked the rolls to take to my Mom's and we headed over there where we ate waaaaaaay too much! I brought a gift for my nephew, here he is opening it - he is such a cutie!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3356.jpg
After dinner, the boys had another egg hunt outside.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/IMG_3359.jpg
Then Don, Justin, my brother and stepdad all settled in for a nap. The girls chatted and Jared and my nephew played games. All in all it was a very nice day.

What great Easter pics! I've cut back a lot on my Easter goodies too. I used to go all out but then found that a lot of it (with the exception of the candy) just kinda got sat to the side and forgotten. I bet your boys were super excited to see the money in the plastic eggs. I would have asked if I could hunt too!

I am glad that you made it back for Easter. You are making me so not looking forward to my son's sports days in the future! 12 midnight?! I was so impressed that the boys were up and smiling for early mass! What a good parents they have :thumbsup2
I am sure that the boys appreciated their "buckets". I really love that extra large reeces egg and the MONEY is always nice for them. Thanks for sharing your pics, looks like you had a great day!

Yeah, the money keeps the interest up for sure! I got the idea from my SIL, her mom did that for them all through high school to keep them interested in hunting eggs. I'd go on an egg hunt too if I knew there was money hidden inside! :thumbsup2

Thanks Katie, I really appreciate the prayers.
It made for a very fast trip up north, but I was determined to get home to celebrate Easter with the boys. And, yep, it was midnight when we pulled into the driveway! I told Don that night that sometimes I wished that our kids stunk at sports because they were exhausting  Really, most of the time I love watching them play, but it does get to be a bit much sometimes.
Is that not the biggest Reese's egg you've ever seen? I had to buy them when I saw them, and I may have had a slice off of Jared's yesterday...... :rolleyes1
Beautiful Easter pictures, Michelle! Sounds like you had an absolutely lovely holiday! We scaled back on Easter baskets this year as well -- the contents of our baskets look very similar!
It was a lovely day, I was even able to take my mom into putting away the china and letting us eat off of paper plates so we'd have less clean up :thumbsup2
Sounds like alot of us scaled back some this year! The boys only got one small gift each, Jared the DVD and Justin had an itunes gift card in his basket.

I enjoy arranging the baskets too - trying to get it all to fit just so, like they really even care, they just tear right into them!
Oh, you've no idea on the baseball thing! Both boys practice 2 nights a week and typically play tournaments 3 out of 4 weekends a month. Of course, they are never off at the same time, so we are at a ballpark nearly every weekend. Justin's 'little league' will be over this summer when he starts school ball - it's going to be like a vacation, he will be playing so much less. Of course, I've got many years before Jared is done......

Aww, sorry to hear your boys are outgrowing Easter. Patrick is holding fiercely to his belief in the Easter Bunny/Santa/Tooth Fairy!! I had bought a package of the small Reeses Eggs and when Patrick saw it in the cupboard after they had their hunt yesterday he questioned them and I told him I had bought them at the store. He then realized they had gotten the big eggs and since they were different than what I had bought, his indeed must have come from the real thing! Every holiday I think that will be it but so far the end hasn't come yet. (although if he knew money was the next version, he might be willing to let go of his beliefs :lmao:)

It is so hard to let go of the little boys I had not so long ago! On the one hand, I hate that they are growing up, but on the other it is rewarding to see them mature and change and face new challeges.

Well, the little ticker at the bottom of my siggy reads 25 days! Wow, this trip is coming up fast! Ever since I saw Katie posting some Disney trip flashbacks on her PTR, I decided that I wanted to do the same - BUT I'm running out of time! So, I better get moving with posting my plans, here we go - Day 5
Day 5 - Wednesday, May 5th
Today Mom and I will be early risers because we will need to be at Epcot before park opening for our Segway Tour!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/AroundTheWorld1_AVP_sized.jpg
I am so excited about this - think of the photo ops around World Showcase without all the people clogging your view! Of course, I also hope that I can get the hang of driving one of those things and don't make a total fool out of myself. :lmao:
Once our tour is complete we will head over to the Land to grab a set of FPs for Soarin', cause I just know Mom is going to want to ride it again :woohoo:
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/3165307836_012e2f6fee.jpg
Then we'll probably have an early lunch at Sunshine Seasons. I've never eaten here, but rarely read anything bad about it, so hopefully it will be a good choice.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/sunshine_seasons_menu.jpg
We will need food in our bellies for the next part of our plans - our DIS meet at La Cava del Tequila!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/0826AR_1709GD38186536-800x532.jpg
This meet is really growing, I've read that the area has 30 seats - I sure hope we can all squeeze in there! :crowded: I'm looking forward to it, I think it will be so much fun to meet everyone!
After our DIS meet we'll probably spend some more time looking at F&G stuff, doing some shopping (thanks to Anita I now know to ask about the special passholder pins :thumbsup2 ), and just enjoying the afternoon. I'm sure we'll have to have a snack because we won't be eating dinner until late - any suggestions? I'd love to know everyone's favorite WS snack! I also need to find some time to pop into
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/mouse-gear.jpg
You never know what might be screaming to be purchased inside that store!
We'll leave probably around 3:00 or so to head back to the hotel and get changed for the evening. We'll be headed to
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/downtown-disney-area.jpg
for La Nouba!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/La-Nouba-Cirque-du-soleil-727661.jpg
I've only seen one Cirque show, and loved it! We've never done the one in DTD just because it is hard to swallow the cost for a family of 4 on top of everything else you are spending money on, but since I just have to buy a ticket for myself this time it's much more doable.
After the show we'll grab some dinner, either at Wolfgang Puck Express
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Wolfgang-Puck-Express01.jpg
or Earl of Sandwich
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Earl-of-Sandwich.jpg
I loved EoS when we ate there in December and would like to eat there again, but I've also been wanting to try WPE. Oh, what to do???? Maybe we'll just wait until that night and see what sounds best. Then of course, I'm sure that more shopping will need to be done. I really think that I will NEED to check out what new D&B designs they have :rolleyes1
At least the following stores should be visited:
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/10020543103731.jpg

I really didn't pay much attention to the area where it is located when we were there in December, so I don't know if they even have room to add extra seating. I'm a little nervous that it will also be more crowded then normal since the Cantina will be closed.....
That's exactly why I am in no hurry for Patrick to figure out the truth because although Daniel is 3 years younger, I KNOW he won't have 3 more years after Patrick!
Very true! The older sibling ruins the fun for the younger one - I know I told my little brother........ :rolleyes1

I've got so many things that I'm excited about for this trip! All these things I've not done before, either because the kids are too young, or because it costs too much for all of us to do. It should be a great trip as long as the weather cooperates :thumbsup2
I'm sure we'll be able to grab a margarita and spill out into the pavillion - at least I hope we can!
GREAT day!!! I am so excited to hear about your tour! I do see those people scooting around and wonder what it is. Can you tell me a little more about what the tour is about?
When I asked my TA about it, she simply said that it was AWESOME! I'm pretty sure you have to be at least 16 to take the tour, maybe 18. The first hour is spent learning how to safely ride and navigate the Segway and the second hour is a tour of World Showcase on the Segway before it officially opens to park guests. I'm sure the tour guide will have lots of interesting information to share on the different countries of WS.
We loved Soarin too! Good idea to get the fastpass for an extra ride. We have eaten at Sunshine Seasons a few times and the food is always good. A nice place to grab a quick meal.
Soarin' is one of my absolute favorites - I always try to have at least a couple of rides on it per trip. Good to hear that you liked Sunshine Seasons, it always seems so chaotic when we walk through there that we've never stopped. I'm hoping that going during a slower crowd period and eating early will help with that.
I have yet to be to DTD, but when we do go, Earl of Sandwich is #1 on our list. It always looks SO yummy. Also, I would probably love the Christmas store and the Pin Trader store.
I did love EoS, I'd hate to skip my one opportunity to eat there this trip! Days of Christmas is my FAVORITE Disney store - I love it!
Can't wait to see pics from the show. I am sure it will be amazing!!!
I hope they let us take photos :confused3

Thanks for the tip on the Napoleon - now I gotta look it up!
I'm a little late, but I'm sorry about your Grandmother.
So funny, I got my daughter Callie the Alvin movie for Easter also. She watched it about 4 times on Sunday. The bunny got DS a nice collared shirt & cargo's from Holister, but he didn't like the color of both of them. :rolleyes1 I can't buy anything for that kid any more!
I love the day 5 plans. My son & husband rode a Segway at the a fair and loved it. I did want to pay the money to ride, but it looked so fun.
Jared has already watched his Alvin movie a couple of times as well. Isn't it funny how they can watch the same movie over and over and over again?!
I'm excited and anxious about the Segway - hopefully I'll be able to get the hang of it rather quickly.

OK, I did it - I bought new park shoes! I had been thinking about it, mostly because I don't want to wear athletic shoes with socks for the whole trip - they just get too hot, and if they get wet they feel awful! I also knew that I would never be able to walk around in flip flops all week and have my feet survive. I do fine with them for a day here and there, but not everyday, especially not at the beginning of summer before my feet have had time to adjust to wearing them often.
So, after looking and looking, trying to figure out what to get, I finally bit the bullet and spent the money for Keen's. This is the style I bought
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/a8a0aeed-ff40-4494-b560-7654abf9cc8.jpg
Are they the most stylish shoe around? Well, no, but oh my gosh are they comfortable! Seriously, I put them on and it was like heaven for your feet! I hope after walking around in them for hours they continue to feel that way. They are also waterproof, so if they get wet from rain or water rides they won't get all squishy and uncomfortable. I'm pretty happy with my choice!
Of course, I didn't stop there  I have a pair of Reef flip flops, they have a thicker sole and are brown with a leopard print strap. They are hands down my favorite flip flops, very comfy! Well today I saw these
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/FF_343833_xl.jpg
And had to get them as well! Now I think I'm all set for shoes! :woohoo:

FUN POSTS!!!! What a great Day 5 wow!!! LOVE it!! I have to tell you GO to WPE for dinner in DTD, you won't be disappointed. A GREAT meal there, especially as a QS meal (I didn't remember if you were on the DDP or not) but the food is really good!
Segway?! Cirque? WHAT a special special trip for you and mom! How nice! AND YOU are there for Cinco de Mayo???? :cool1: Oh how fun!!!!! enjoy that Tequila bar! I hear it is awesome! It looked really cool when we looked inside!!!
YAY YAY :yay: for Mickey Mail! I got some today, too! Cruise stuff. But it is fun to see mail from Disney in your stack!
Okay SHOES... NICE! I have never bought a pair of the Newport keens (my boys have them), but I do have a pair of Keen flip flops (they are more like slides I guess, a strap with a covered toe, and I also find them very comfortable! I am sure they will serve you well! Love the animal print Reef flops, too! I just bought a pair of Black Fit Flops, those I love! :thumbsup2 But isn't shoe shopping fun!

Great plans for May 5th! Your day looks incredible!
There was a slight possibility that me and DH were going to be doing it then as well, but I don't think we are going to be able to fit it in. It certainly would have been funny if we had met unplanned like that!
Can't wait to see how things shape up for the Cinco de Mayo Meet. I agree - we could be packed in there!:rotfl:
You will love LaNouba!!! It is incredible! What a great way to spend the evening with your mom! Hard choice btwn EOS and WP, but for dessert, you have to have Ghiradelli's ice cream! :lovestruc
Great decision to get some new comfortable shoes. Can't go wrong there!;)

Once our tour is complete we will head over to the Land to grab a set of FPs for Soarin', cause I just know Mom is going to want to ride it again :woohoo:
Then we'll probably have an early lunch at Sunshine Seasons. I've never eaten here, but rarely read anything bad about it, so hopefully it will be a good choice.

I think saving Cirque du Soleil for an adults-only trip is a great idea. Ed and I saw it on one of our rare trips alone and all I could think of was that I was glad we hadn't blown all that $$ on tickets for the kids.

Well, they aren't a delicate shoe thats for sure! I think these with all the holes in them though help cut down on the clunkyness (nice word, huh? ;) ).

Hi! Just subscribed to your PTR & read all 15 pages straight through!!! I had a million thoughts while reading but of course, now I forget everything I was going to say! :rotfl2:
All of the plans for your trip look great!!! Can't wait to hear more about the Segway Tour & see your photos without all the people in them! I would really love to do that tour someday!
Your Easter looked great as well. I understand what you mean about the kids growing up. My oldest just turned 9 & it is bittersweet knowing he won't be "my little baby" much longer! I can't believe how often he says "Mom, I'm too old for that." I figured he wouldn't do that until he was a teenager! :rotfl:
I thought it was funny when you mentioned hiding money in the eggs...my parents always did this so I have continued the tradition! I laughed because my nephew just turned 3 & he was looking inside the eggs & asking for money when there was candy in them! Guess its not a good tradition to start "too early" ?!?!? ;)
Can't wait to read more about your trip!!! So excited for you that its coming up so quickly!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi there and :welcome: to my PTR! I know exactly what you mean about forgetting what you wanted to comment on, I do that all the time when I get behind on a report!
My youngest is 9, and is already so grown up as well. Having that older brother pushed him to do so a little quicker I think.
We were cleaning Justin's room yesterday and putting all of his Easter stuff (candy from his bucket, stuff from my brother & mom, etc) all in one place, and he said to me 'are we going to do this again next year?' I asked if he was ready to stop, he just shrugged and said 'I don't care'. *Sigh* :sad2:
That's funny that you have always hidden money in your eggs. When I was a kid we didn't even have candy in ours, we hid the real hard boiled eggs that we had colored. I've never done that for my kids though, we color some that we put in a centerpiece on the table but don't do anything with them past that. Didn't even do that this year though.
I see you are planning a Christmas trip. We went this past Christmas and it was awesome! I'll do my best to get over to your PTR today and check out your plans :thumbsup2

Day 6 - Thursday, May 6th
Today we will be heading to Hollywood Studios.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Hollywood-Studios-20th-Anniversary-.jpg
We are going on a day that has no Fantasmic! showing, immediately following a day that did have one, so I'm hoping for low crowds here. My plan is to get there well before rope drop so that we will be able ride Toy Story Midway Mania first thing and then grab a FP for later.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/toy_story_mania_ride.jpg
Also on the must do list as far as rides are concerned (at least for me, can't say if Mom will attempt this one or not) is Rock 'N Rollercoaster. I love this ride!!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/disney-s-hollywood-studios_rock-n-r.jpg
As much as I hate to say it, we will probably skip Tower of Terror. It is themed so well that I'd love for Mom to see it, but I'm not a huge fan of the multiple drops and I don't think she would be either.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/tower_of_terror.jpg
The other things on the must do list include:
The Great Movie Ride, love it, and hope we get the cowboy instead of the gangster
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/The_Great_Movie_Ride_05.jpg
One Man's Dream
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/One-Mans-Dream-Marquee-web.jpg
The Animation Academy
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Animation20Academy2002.jpg
And last but not least, one of my favorite Disney shows, Beauty and the Beast
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/hollywood-studios-shows.jpg
If time allows, we'll see Indiana Jones & Voyage of the Little Mermaid, I haven't seen this one since 2005 - I think it's time to check it out again!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Indiana-Jones.jpg
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/volm20.jpg
Lunch will be counter service. I'm thinking of trying Starring Rolls
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/Starring-Rolls-Bakery.jpg
Where I just might be tempted to try a Butterfinger cupcake!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/butterfingercupcake.jpg
Once we've completed all we want to do at DHS, we'll take the friendship boat over to Epcot. We have a 6:30 ADR at Coral Reef for dinner
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o265/SoonerGirl69/May%20PTR/coralreef.jpg
No real plans after dinner, we may just call it an early night and head back to enjoy the resort, or if we aren't too tired of walking around, maybe we'll go over to the Boardwalk for a bit.

I know, those show times can really mess with a good touring plan! That's why I only put one on the 'must do' list, anything else will just be gravy.
I haven't been to Coral Reef in awhile, the one time we did go our service was less than desirable, I'm hoping this time it will be different. Food was good though!

I agree that the theming of ToT is excellent! I hope your mom will ride Rock 'N Rollercoaster with you. I LOVE it too. Coral Reef looks neat. We've never been before.

I'm all caught up Michelle!
Your plans are looking wonderful! You and your mom are going to have such a great time! I can't wait to hear about the segway tour. I was just telling my in-laws about that as something they might want to do when they go with us next summer. I saw some folks doing it this week but it was during regular park hours. I can't imagine trying to manuever those things through some of those crowds!
Also, I know I am late, but please accept my condolensces on the loss of your grandmother. I know exactly what you mean when you say that the grandmother you loved was already gone because that's how I felt about my mom. She had brain cancer and my "mom" was gone months before her body passed. It's still so very difficult and yet also a relief to know that they are not suffering any more and are in a better place.

I'm excited about the Segway tour, but I will admit, I'm a bit nervous about driving back from WS to FW when the tour is over - when there are lots of people that I could potentially run over! :scared1:
Thank you for your condolensces. I'm so sorry about your mom. A good friend of ours lost his mother to brain cancer and it was so so difficult for him and his family. My other grandmother died of cancer as well, and even though we were not at all ready to lose her, it was a relief to know that she was no longer suffering.
Day six looks great, too! That butterfinger cupcake is making me drool. Yum! And THREE WEEKS!!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
Doesn't it look yummy?! AND the inside is all gooey - I doubt I'll be able to eat more than a few bites, but I HAVE to try it!
