About two months ago my husband quit/took time off from his job to take care of my grandmother. With her Social Security we were okay with him not working. Well, the weekend before last she decided to move back in with my mother. Trust me, we did not make this decision lightly. We made sure we were doing the right thing. Anyway, when he left his job he told his boss that he would begin working part time once Mom got settled in and things fell into place. The first week that he was out of work he spent driving up and down the mountain (1 1/2 hrs. each way) every day to spend time with her while she was in the hospital. He was trying to get her used to staying with him all the time. Anyway, his boss agreed that he would return to work when the time was right. He went back to his boss last week to see about returning to his job full time and his boss told him no. He said that he couldn't count on him now. My husband had a long discussion with his boss about this and at the time the boss was fine with it - mainly because they haven't had much work this year. They only had 3 employees, counting my husband; so they don't qualify for the FMLA.
Anyway, all of this has both of us stressed out. He didn't really want to go back to his old job but he was going to until our vacation next month. Right now there just are not many jobs in our area. He REALLY needs to find a job! I leave Saturday for a business trip to Canada, which adds more stress to us. I hate to travel (except to WDW!) and we are not used to being apart. Then this morning my best friend was really rude to me. Shortly after that I got called into my boss' office to discuss my attitude.
Basically, my husband and I could use all of the prayers and pixie dust you can spare. Thanks!

Chell,
The good book says if you honor your mother and father your days will be long.
Your DH did the most unbelievably unselfish thing for your grandmother. How many people are willing to take such a chance for the sake of someone else? Only the special ones....
My Dad would go and feed my senile grandmother lunch every single day. She didn't even know who he was. Till the day she died at 91 he took care of her needs like she was HIS Mom.
Today my Dad is 83 and the longest living member of his family. I am so grateful that he guaranteed for me more time with him.
Your blessings are coming, prepare for them...:)

In this day and age it is almost unheard of for someone to do what he did for his grandmother. He really understands the meaning of family and honor. Many prayers and good thoughts that everything works out. I have a feeling it will.:)
