There is one of those great big white cranes in my backyard and it just gives me the chills. Agan the old Hitchcock movie coming back to haunt me. I need to be on Maurey Povich with my fobia of birds...heck even Kara's cute pictures give me chills and those are babies!!!!!

So whats your phobia??

Yep. ;) JK!!!

Actually, I better not hate them. I have one in a cage in the other room (a cockatiel). In fact, he whistles parts of some Disney tunes. The Mickey Mouse Club March, the Tiki Room theme, Pirates of the Caribbean and a couple others. No, he doesn't know It's a Small World. ;) I am not looking to drive myslef crazy!!

I'm afraid of people who don't like birds. ;)

Seriously, though, I'm afraid of heights... not so badly that I'd call it a phobia per se, but I try to avoid them when I can. Also not crazy about driving over bridges for fear of them collapsing as I drive over it. Again, not quite a phobia, just an intense and irrational dislike. I can do it; I just have to look straight ahead as I drive and block out the periphery as I drive... I try to pretend that I'm on a regular road instead of a bridge.

But I do have a true phobia -- cockroaches. Any kind of bug that lives in colonies, but especially cockroaches.

Now Jay that might be a bird I could get along with.

I'm like you Kara it isn't really a phobia...so bad that I can't go near them cause as everyone well knows those seagulls at Disney will drive you nuts! Its just ever since I was little and watched that movie "The Birds" they just give me chills espeically when there are a lot of them in one place.

I guess hate isn't the right word because I actually helped a baby bird into the bushes the other day....just really uncomfortable...LOL!

Birds give me the creeps.

Not trying to offend any bird lovers, I can't help it, that's just the way it is.

I really am an animal lover. However, after being bitten several times by different birds, I have decided that birds are not for me. The unfortunate thing is my inlaws have a cockatiel and a parrot. They have willed the birds to us. I am just thrilled. Nothing against your babies though Kara, they are adorable!!:smooth:

I hated birds until Kara started posting pictures of her baby birds. Now I look forward to seeing them every day. :)

The other night I went out to the back deck to water my flowers and was shocked to see so many barn swallows!! There must have been 200-300 of them on the electrical wires and another 50 or more swarming around just above my head, and swooping down nearer to the ground. It was very eerie, and definitely reminded me of "The Birds." I watered my flowers, but kept glancing at the swallows. They were only there that one night, very strange indeed.....

but I don;t enjoy what they leave behind.

I have 3 neighbors who have -between them probably 7 or 8 feeders. Guess who has the biggest tree in the neighborhood???

ME.

What to birds do after they eat POOP all over my deck, the solar cover to my pool, the leaves are covered, the grass is white the patio is spotted and we have West Nile Virus haning around the state.

I had a blue jay dive bomb my Maine Coon all 16 pounds of her. A BB took care of her. She didn't die, but let me tell you she didn't return! After many passes, we'd had enough.

Birds are fine, it's the neighbors I'd like to smack. You don't need to feed birds in the summer, they need food in the winter when there are no worms and when the little white stuff that comes out of their butts looks like the snow!

Birds are fine, it's people that are stupid.

Birds make me EXTREMELY nervous! Anything that moves quickly freaks me out. Birds, fish and .... ACK... FROGS! I can look at pictures of birds but just show me a picture of a frog or a fish and... ewwww..... I get the chills. Getting close to any of the above for real? FORGET IT....I'm a mile away in seconds. Actually....I get the heebie jeebies just considering thinking about the thought of possibly someday looking at a picture of fish or frogs. *Shudder shudder* http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/errrr.gif

I love birds from a distance. Seabirds, exotic birds, whatever, as long as they can't bite me. My mom went through a bird phase and we had finches and cockatiels and lovebirds. I think they're cute and stuff but I don't like them on me.

I think my bird is protesting this thread. I went in to feed him & now he's mad. He kept biting at me. No fear tho. He won't bite me as hard as anyone else. So if he's testy, don't stick your hand in his cage. ;)

LOL!! The other day I saw 2 little mockingbirds chase away 4 big crows. Kind of a funny sight, really!!

We had a finch nest in our bushes a few weeks ago. As they're learning to fly, one of the babies landed on a window ledge outside my office. One of my cats was in the window and went crazy!! We have dark solar screens, so the bird couldn't see the cat, but he was only about 3 inches away. Good thing the window wasn't open or it could have been really bad!!!

......either! They all belong OUTSIDE, and not in cages in peoples Homes!:o Thats what I think, anyway!;) My late mother used to love to go bird watching, at a local park. When she passed, we took her ashes and spread them through out the park. Near her favorite spot, after spreading the ashes, a beautiful Red Cardinal flew onto the bush 2 feet from us! We smiled, knowing in a way, it was Mom saying she approved.:o

Anything that flies creeps me out. I have always had a fear of birds, especially if they are inside.

But, a month or so ago I had a bat in my bedroom. It woke me up in the middle of the night by flying around. I am terrified of bats!!! It took a lot of nerve for me to get up and to kill the darned thing. I knew if I didn't, I would never sleep again. It wasn't a pleasant night.

We just got back from a two week vacation at a cabin in the northern part of the state. The grandkids had a ball feeding the ducks who would waddle up from the lake looking for bread. I had to stay inside as some of them would fly at each other fighting for the bread.

I love birds. Peacocks are my favorite.:)

I have acrophobia. But I play on that fear all the time. I love thrill rides. I'm ok as long as I'm sitting, but if I try to walk up an steep incline or stand looking down a deep ravine, my knees get weak and I just about collapse from the fear sometimes.

I also have a fear of something happening to one of my kids.:(

I am scared senseless of bird, too, especially when they're flying.

Something about the flapping of wings near my ears sends chills up and down my spine.

I just had a bird in my house. Yuckkk!! The kids left my sliding door to my screened in patio open, but opened the door from the patio to outside, so one flew in unnoticed. Anyway, I come downstairs with 2 laundry baskets, and hear a fluttering in the verticals of the sliding door. I flew back up the stairs and promptly called DH at work. DH called his Dad,who drove the 20 miles just to get the bird out of my house.

I like birds although I wouldn't be too thrilled if an entire flock of them dive-bombed me. What I really am terrified of is SNAKES!! Gosh, I hate them!! I'm not too crazy about crawling or flying insects either.

I love birds. I have one on my shoulder right now. When I was little, we lived in New Orleans, and they encouraged pigeons to come to the French Quarter back then. (They stopped that before the World's Fair to make the city not quite as nasty.) I loved to cover myself in bird seed so that they'd all land on me.

Mice scare me to death. I won't go in the garage if I think there's one in there.
