We are heading to the SL during autumn half term and have booked a Montanna Room. Does anyone have any specific room recommendations or sections of the hotel that they think are better than the others???

I've seen some peoples's photos and their rooms were on a corner of the hotel which seemed to make the rooms nice and bright. (probably won't make ALLLLLL that much difference as we will be up for brekkie at 7 EVERY morning!!!!!! and back as late as we can!)

Have also seen a Montanna room that had a balcony......but only had a big double bed in not 2, wonder if any of these balcony rooms have 2 beds ****wish****

The hotel looks quite big, and I notice that there are 2 wings to it like the NY and NPB. Just don't want a repeat of last year at NPB when we had to walk about 10 miles to get to reception!!

Any hints or tips gratefully received:flower3:

Weird...I though I HAD posted this in the Sequoia lodge FAQ thread. That's the downside of always using this forum on the browser on my phone!!!!

I have stayed there three times now each time in a montana room - the first time we were on the fourth floor looking out towards Newport Bay - room was quite nice, second time we were in a dark noisy room on the ground floor so when we were going back again I emailed them the week before to ask for a room on a high floor. We were on the top floor - I think it is the 7th - was very quiet as it is a small floor with no wings so not a lot of people tramping by on the way to their rooms. If we go back I will be requesting a room on that floor again.

thanks very much, that is good to know as we have young ones who will appreciate a quieter spot.
Do the montanna rooms only refer to the main section of the hotel or do they also refer to the wings?

Any rooms in the main building are montana rooms so you can end up walking quite a distance if your room is out on the wings.

We booked a Montana Room but were upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite when they made a mistake with our booking. This had a huge balcony and a King bed, a huge dining table and was generally fantastic all round - sorry but I don't know if there are any suites with 2 beds, so can't actually help that much, but thought I'd share my experience - I love this hotel!

Montana room will be good because you're in the main building :)

Have a good trip!!

Too right...maybe if I flounce up to reception in a massive meringue dress (hiding the kids and grandma underneath) they'll do the same for me too!!! hahahah

Ooohhh, now you've given me an idea! Travel in my wedding dress!!! Won't have to worry about luggage allowance as I can hide it all under my dress!!! :rotfl2:

For our last trip, we were in a Montana Room.
We checked in in the morning and got our room. I immediately didn't like it but DW said nothing so we headed for the parks.
It was on our way back from the parks that night when i brought up the subject of the room.
It was in a corner on the ground floor, car park side. It was small looking (due to the lay out), dingy looking and generally not nice. It had a tiny little window too which didn't help with the impression of it being tiny (the picture doesn't really show it that well, I took it on my phone, but it wasn't nice at all)

So when we got back to the hotel we asked if we could get a different room. It took a lot of CM's looking at floor plans trying to decide which would be the best room for us (the CM's were wonderful by the way - I was a but apprehensive about asking for a switch as it just seemed like we were being 'fussy' but they were great with us).

In the end we were shown a room on the smoking floor (we're smokers but not indoors :lmao:) and thankfully on getting out of the lift there was none of that stale smoke smell.
The room was almost directly 3 floors above our first room but the difference couldn't have been any more obvious! The room was probably the same size (sorry, didn't take a photo) but the bed was on the other wall, and the whole two exterior walls were windows, and a door onto the piéce de resistance, the world's biggest balcony!

That was all ours, about 3 times the size of the room!! As there were only stairs facing out onto the balcony rather than another room we had it all to ourselves - the only way out onto it was from our room!

This was the view of the front of the hotel from the balcony too :)

There was only a king bed sorry but it was easily the best room we've had at the Sequoia Lodge :cool1:

It was moved from the FAQ since the FAQ thread is for information and reviews rather than questions :thumbsup2

Wowee...lucky you! I ge the impression rooms like these are only kingsize, so no good for us! I guess they don't want lil kids chucking themselves off the balconies...good point in fairness!!

I have found this tho' http://www.********************/dlp/hotels/sl.html which might make it easier for me to ask for what I want nearer the time. How handy is that? Now all I need is the room map that they use at the hotel...anyone up for a stealth mission????:rolleyes1
