We just booked a last minute trip for mid-May at OKW. Will not have a car, but want to do all our meals in our room. What have some of you used for grocery delivery? What options are there? And what are the delivery costs? I have read some about GardenGrocer, what has been your experience with them? Are there other services that do this as well? Your input will be greatly appreciated. TIA

We have used GardenGrocer several times and have never had a problem. I have always pre-paid so you do not have to wait. They just deliver to baggage holding and when you come back to the hotel you let them know you had a delivery and they will bring it to your room. I think if you spend more then $200.00 there is no delivery charge anything under that is a $12 charge I think. I have never had a problem with them.

Marge runs WeGoShop for the orlando area. A nicer or more accommodating person you'll be hard pressed to find.

She has a standard shopping & delivery fee, but you pay actual prices, can use store sales & coupons (she gives you the receipt) and will shop for whatever brands or sizes you want, not just what's on a website. She's also shops whatever stores you prefer making multiple stops if need be (liquor etc).

BTW - I have used both services wegoshop & gardengrocer, I won't bash, but simply say I will never use GG again.

Another :thumbsup2 for Marge at WeGoShop. We used her in December. No problems, gave us all the receipts, got what we asked for and a nicer person you could not hope to meet. I wouldn't use anyone else to get groceries for me in Orlando. She even gave me a discount for an extra delivery during the week -- ran out of alcohol. ;)

Haven't used the other service so can't comment but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marge.

Enjoy your trip!

Do you have to be present to accept the alcohol from Marge?

I was happy with Garden Grocer. They delivered exactly what I ordered and left it with Bell Services because my room wasn't ready yet. When the front desk told me that my room was ready, I went over to Bell Services, and they went upstairs with me, bringing my groceries, my luggage, etc. While gathering my stuff, I went into the storage room with them and saw that my margarine was in fact in the fridge.

I have heard stories of people getting last minute phone calls from WeGoShop shoppers asking to make substitutions. People say good things about Marge, but it sounds like she has other people working for her, and perhaps they are not as diligent as she is. I am not speaking from first-hand experience about that service.

have used garden grocer many times and have never had a single complaint -- they let you know the sales and it can all be ordered on line ---once we were actually there when the gg delivery person came -- he put everything away for us!

The first time I used Marge she asked for me to be present because there was beer and wine in our order. I like to be there anyway so I can put everything where I want it in the kitchen. We've used her twice and she was always accommodating and prompt with delivery.

We did garden groc. for our trip last yr for water, diapers, & snacks. It was at storage when we got off the Magical Express.

The small $12 delivery fee is worth not having to find room to put those things in the bags. More room for customs. Airlines are getting stingy w/ the bag thing.

We will use it again in Nov.

We have used gardengrocer once and they were wonderful. They called us about an hour before we got to BWV to tell us that they were dropping off our groceries with bell services. When we checked into the resort, our luggage and groceries came with the bell services all at once - it was great! :thumbsup2

I don't think you will go wrong using Garden Grocer or WeGoShop. Both have their fans and for the most part provide a good service.

We personally use WeGoShop because we need specific food items from Whole Foods for food allergies and food preferences. I also like being able to look at Public's weekly ad and order what ever fresh produce is on sale that week. We fly the red eye from the west coast and the last thing I want to do is shop or lug extra food stuff in my luggage.

Has anyone ever used DVC's grocery service? Comments, concerns?

We used Garden Grocer this past Jan and they left out the case of water in our order. When I called Luggage Dept to see if it was left there by accident, but no luck my water wasn't there. I called Garden Grocer and they would replace it next day but it would be delivered in the afternoon which wasn't going to help us since we were only staying 5 days. Garden Grocer would credit our card for case of water. Well for some strange reason I called the Luggage area again and explain my problem and they advised they would send someone out to BUY a case of water for me and was there a particular brand I requested! Very nice response and we had the water later that night delivered. We were staying at the Beach Club Villas. So I don't know if this was handled the way it was because of where we were staying or because we ordered thru Garden Grocer. Either way we received our water and credit on our card for it, great service both ways!

Don't do it unless you're willing to pay $6+ for a 1/2 gallon of milk! Prices for DVC's "grocery service" are the same prices you pay in the small shops at the resorts.

BTW, we've had great experiences with Garden Grocer. We might give WeGoShop a try next trip because of all the great reviews, but I wouldn't hesitate to use Garden Grocer again.

Glad this was posted. I'm taking a solo trip in October and it's going to be a little longer than the usual trips. And I was thinking of stocking up so I could have some meals in the room. Both delivery companies sound like they are very good and now I just have to check the websites out.

Thanks to the OP...:thumbsup2

I have used wegoshop.com 5 times and I highly recommend their service.
I like the fact that I compile my own list and don't have to shop a "virtual grocery store". I can specify brands, sizes and whether or not I will allow substitutions. I like the fact that there is no markup on the grocery items and I receive the original store receipt. I think there delivery fee is fair and I know we save money with them.
Have a Great Trip

When I was getting ready to place my WeGoShop order I looked at the Publix weekly ad for a couple of weeks so I could get an idea about brands and sizes available in FL. A couple of times Marge made substitutions for me but always to my benefit and even used her shopping card for us. She is the best!

We wound up getting a car as a last-minute change last year. So I wound up just going to Wal-Mart and getting the stuff myself. However, we'd planned to use a shopping service, so I did all the prep work for it.

The biggest plus for WeGoShop seems to be the flexibility. They'll basically shop at any store you ask them to, which means you can find any of the things you'd find when shopping for yourself. With GardenGrocer, you're limited to the items on their shopping list.

The one thing I did find to be very helpful was the fact that GardenGrocer had an online list to choose from. I found it easier to browse through the GG list and select things than I did trying to come up with a list from scratch for WeGoShop. In the end, though, I wasn't thrilled with the fresh meats, seafood, and deli on the GG site. The selection was limited, and prices seemed very high to me. I also wanted stuff from the liquor store.

So, I decided to use WeGoShop.

I did some cheating to create my shopping list. My local grocery store has a web-order page to have groceries ready when you arrive. I used that to do the shopping and create a list, which I entered into the WeGoShop site's shopping list. (I suppose I could have done the same by taking a notebook to the grocery store and walking the aisles.) What I wasn't able to do, however, was come up with products, sizes, and estimated prices from scratch on my own.

We will probably be getting to POP around 12:30 -1 and just want to go straight to the park after check in. We can leave our luggage and stuff with bell services and have be sent to the room. If we don't arrive back to the hotel around 10 or 11, what do they do with the perishable items (ie: milk, yogurt etc). Do the CM at the front desk put it somewhere? Would you advise that we get milk from the marketplace instead? How late does GG deliver?

Bell Services has both a frig and freezer so when your order arrives they put all perishables safely away until you call for them.

We use GG and love it! :lovestruc I like shopping the website... and if there is something that isn't there you just request it, e.g. liquor, sugar free, etc.

I have used Wegoshop twice in the past, but I think I will try GG next time. I really felt I had to be present to receive the groceries as it was presented to me, and of course the time we agreed on ending up not being as convenient as I would have liked. Not anyone's fault - just the usual hard to plan exact timing when you'll be in the room, not in the shower, not stuck waiting for a bus stuff that happens at WDW. We did not order alcohol either. I did feel compelled to add a tip onto the delivery fee (it is a line included in the total bill to fill in), and this definitely made the final price jump substantially. I also have read on the Dis boards that there is a service charge to use a credit card - somehow I missed that and all that together makes me think I will try GG just to compare.

We like freshly cut deli meats will WEGO Shop get them from the deli? I don't like the prepackaged stuff.

Yes, they will - I've specified that before. It isn't a problem at all.

Has anyone checked DVC prices? I checked the first few items on my list - eggs, milk and bread - and found DVC prices to be LESS expensive than Garden Grocer.

RE: DVC Grocery service

I have to admit it has been a while that I have checked. I will give them a look. We have had no problems with GG in the past and thought their selection and prices were very reasonable. I know the last time I did check with DVC grocery service, most items were more expensive but things do change..smjj
