Anyone who has been on a Wide World Of Sports Package ????

I have been trying to find out info regarding the passes to the venue and the themepark. I have now gotten the days that my son will be fencing so I tried to get a package but the only one Disney is offering is at the AllStar. With the new codes I can stay at the Poly for less $$$. I was told that I can still purchase the passes for the theme park but today I was trying to purchase said passes and was told since I didn't get a WWoS package I can't get tickets. Not that this is a surprise that I got different info but I thought I would ask here before I call back and try to get someone else in the Sports Dept. and see if I can buy the passes. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Does everyone stay at the All Star resorts on these Disney sports events? None of our fencing club is staying on the package. Fencing is a sport that requires alot of National and International travel. We all have our alligence to various travel rewards programs. Limiting access to a special pass seems counter productive to me. We are fencing 3 out of 4 days and I am sure there are some who will fence all 4. It takes all day to get direct elimination. I can't believe they will not be willing to sell a pass for a limited amount of days that isn't offered to the public when I am spending more at a Disney resort. Anyone have any knowledge of how this works?
