Vendor Reviews

DFTW (A)- Our planner was Karen Heyn and she was great! The weather did NOT cooperate with us and we were given the choice of moving our DP inside, which we opted not to. Karen was great with helping us out and being very accommodating. My mom spent a few hours on the phone with Karen the day of the wedding to come up with a solution for our reception. I did NOT want to move it inside but after our guests froze at the DP I felt I had no choice. Our original backup was the Dino Lounge and I didn’t feel that was an adequate solution. After many phone calls back and forth we were given the choice of Living Seas or Conservation Station.

Eric and I ultimately decided that keeping with the AK Theme was most important and we went to Conservation Station. It was a wonderful alternative (although I still was in love with Tamu Tamu). We were also given the choice of heaters at Tamu Tamu (for $250 each) but I really wanted our guests to be comfortable. Conservation Station ended up entertaining the kids for HOURS and our guests loved it!! Disney said they have done many events at Conservation Station but never a wedding.

Beaute Speciale (A)- We had requested Ana and I never was notified that she wasn’t coming. I was very surprised when two girls showed up. They did an amazing job though! Our makeup stayed put all day and Lauren’s hair was AMAZING. I would highly recommend them!!

Apex Media (A+)- George was AMAZING!! I haven’t received a video yet so I guess I can’t fully rate him, but everything was just great. He did a good job at not being seen. I don’t remember seeing him too much. The price was great and we got just what we needed (2 hours). He ended up shooting all of the wedding and even following us for pictures afterwards!

Roots (A++++) OMG I can’t say enough about Roots. We first met up with them on the Monday before the wedding for a mini-shoot. This was amazing. It was great to meet with them and learn how they operate before the wedding. It totally put us at ease. The wedding day was nothing less than stellar. They were unbelievable. And just like George, stayed very inconspicuous. I don’t remember seeing them at ALL during the ceremony lol. And they got us a few teasers just the next day!!! AWESOME!!!

Transportation (B)- The motor coach that we used going from the ceremony to the reception was GREAT. The driver was wonderful and very friendly. However, the Limo driver was not so great. He didn’t seem very friendly and he actually got lost brining us to the reception. We mentioned it to our WP who is going to look into it. At one point I almost knocked on the window to tell him how to get backstage at AK…luckily he figured it out!!!

Food (A+++)- We were really please with the food. The anti pasto display during cocktail hour was delicious and the dinner buffet was amazing. Everyone came up to us to tell us how pleased they were with the food. The bartender was AMAZING and very friendly. He continued to bring me drinks throughout the night…the kids thought the Mickey Mouse cocktails were pretty cool too!!

Cake (A+++) We ended up going back to our original dream cake after being a bit short for our F&B minimums. I don’t know how worth it, it was (we normally wouldn’t have spent that much on a cake) But everyone loved it. It tasted as fantastic as I remember and we ate if for a few days afterwards. My parents surprised me by brining the topper home (Made of fondant and chocolate)…apparently they had quite a bit of trouble with airport security who insisted on checking it out (a Mickey shaped bomb perhaps?). They ended up breaking it  We took a few pics with it before throwing it out.

Mickey and Minnie …they totally WOWED us. Way better than we ever expected and our guests just LOVED them.

What we could have skipped:
I’m not sure there was anything about the day that we didn’t find worth it. The cake might be one. If we had more guests we would have been fine and gone with a simpler cake. But it was amazing and I love the pictures!!

Thanks! The shoes didn't fit me right. I tried them on when she got them and they seemed ok but later on they just felt a bit snug. She ended up wearing them instead and I stuck with my originals.:goodvibes

They would have changed into their formal attired, lol. But the cake had already been made so it wouldn't have really fit. They agreed to change our center pieces but couldnt' tell us what they would look like. We definitely agreed that Conservation Station was the way to go:thumbsup2

Lol you'd be suprised how little cake was left, lol. We munched on it for a few days before throwing out what was left. It was SO yummy!!

The dino lounge would have been awful. Conservation Station eneded up being so great for the kids. There were so many activitites for them to do. They were exhausted by the end of the night!

I got a call from the Florist the day before the wedding saying that peonies arrived fuschia on the outside but once they opened they were light pink. She wanted to know if I was ok with a mix of pinks or did I just want to go with an all fuschia, all rose bouquet. I told her no big deal, just make it a mix of pinks. It was so gorgeous and I'm so happy I went with the peonies. Laura was amazing to work with and everything was just perfect!!:goodvibes

Lol no you haven't. I did have a different dress. Back in January (I think) I was browsing David's Bridal website for shoe ideas and noticed their 2010 dresses had come out. I literally gasped when I saw this one. I went to try it on and it was simply perfect. I loved my other dress, but there was NO contest. I'm really happy with the choice I made...I think the other one was pretty but I love the floatiness of mine (plus it didn't wrinkle easily and had no train!):lovestruc

To be honest...I have never really liked Living Seas. It seemed dark to me, plus we put a lot of work into the decorations and I felt like everything would just look thrown together. Conservation Station ended up being a great indoor alternative.

It was a very large space but it was nice because it allowed our tables to be set up on one side, bar in another corner, food in another and we still had space for a dance floor and for the kids to run around!

I love your hair with that hair piece and the flower on your dress. very vintage and cool looking. im glad conservation station worked out for you guys. were you able to walk over to the petting zoo at all? not that you would really want to in your wedding dress :eek:

i also had major transportation problems. we hired cabs to bring our guests to the DP and only 1 driver out of the 8 cabs we had didn't get lost. so everyone was about an hour late which was really annoying. i hate Mears, i have had numerous problems with them while down in disney.

Minnie and Mickey were too cute...they really got into it. My favorite picture is one where Mickey and Minnie are kissing in the foreground and we are kissing in the background. Not sure who got a picture of it though.

Thank you!! Everything did turn out great...but I'm not sure it would have if it weren't for my Mom! She was wonderful and helped take a lot of my stress away!

Wow that's interesting that I'm not the only one. We didn't end up being very late. In order to get backstage at AK you have to drive like you are going ot the Lodge, but before you get there you hang a right. I knew this ahead of time so when I saw the driver head through the toll booth at Ak...I knew we were in trouble. Eric loving refers to that drive as the AK 500:lmao:

We didn't head over to the petting zoo, the whole thing was inside. BUT we did get to watch some of the animals on the monitors as they were all in there night barns for the evening!
