Hi everyone I have been planning a trip to DLP for a few months now and it seems like I will be going solo. I have been to WDW solo many times and have no issues with that. I can do what I want when I want. I am a bit apprehensive about going to Paris solo. I was planning on a week in Oct. with 5 full days at DLP and a 2 day break in the middle visiting Paris. Is this feasible? Is traveling to Paris solo safe? This would be my first trip out of North America and it seems very daunting. Are there guided tours I could take to or while in Paris. I have found several bus tours but kinda feel weird about being alone having red some pretty scary things about Paris. Any advice or help would be fantastic.

Thank you so much!!!

Hello!

I don't see why you shouldn't travel around Paris on your own provided you are happy with the flight etc from N.America. I am a female and would happily go to DLP or Paris by myself but I can speak conversational French and I also would limit my time in Paris to the daytime (rather than night) to feel 100% safe - Paris is a bit city after all and I personally wouldn't walk round any big city, London, NYC in the dark on my own. That said I would happily stay out as late as I wanted at DLP! I wouldn't feel threatened there in the slightest.

In terms of your plans - You said you wanted to go to DLP for 5 nights and take a 2 day break in the middle to go to paris - I assume you mean stay in a hotel at DLP for the 5 nights and just go to Paris from there? Whilst it iis possible to get into Paris from DLP the metro ourney is quite long (about 40 mins) includes changes and some french speaking. Also I personnally would want to have done the return journey and be safely back in the resort quite early into the evening. I would suggest either;

Stay at DLP for 5 nights and book on to the Cityrama (I'm sure thats whats its called but correct me if I'm wrong!) tours - they leave from DLP and do both a daytime and nighttime tour or Paris that you could do on 2 seperate days to break up DLP and see the city in the safety of a group, or,

Book 3 nights at DLP and then move to a more centrally located hotel in Paris for the remaining 2 nights to explore the city from there. That way you don't have that long metro ride and you can book on to tours that the hotel provides etc.

I have been to Paris many times and in my opinion it's like any other big city - yes there are rough areas but if you stay central and in the "tourist" areas it shouldn't be a problem - unfortunatly you have to pass through the suburbs to get from Paris back to DLP on the metro - so if it was my trip I think I would go for 3 days at DLP and then 2 in Paris - hope that helps and have a great time :)

Do it!

You'll have a great time! I can understand you being a little apprehensive about traveling alone but Paris is a lovely city.

Speaking French would make it easier but it's certainly not essential. The transport network is pretty simple to understand and at most major stations they have staff that speak English. Planning a route is as simple as following the lines on the map with your finger and making a not of the stations and line numbers.

5 days in Disney does sound quite a lot, especially in October. It might be worth adjusting that and spending a bit more time in Paris. There's lots of museums to enjoy!

There are many organised tours of Paris but you'll have a much better time exploring them on your own! That way you'll get to take things at your own pace and just do the things that you want to do.

Don't worry about being on your own, Paris is a busy city and I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid at a lone traveler.

It is possible to get from DLP into central paris without changing.Its a direct line and there are several stations where you can get off and be reasonably close to the main sights. If you get off at Auber the tour buses leave from just across the road, or you can get off at Chatelet des Halles and its very close to walk to the River (Notre Dame, Louvre etc) or get off at Charles de Gaulle Etoile and you are right by the Arc de Trimphe on the Champs Elysee. You can do all this without speaking any french. Get a mobilis ticket (13E) which gives you return to Paris and back and unlimited use of metro.
The metro is really easy to use.
I went as a 19yr old (female) to work in Paris for 4 mths and felt totally safe

Great Thanks everyone, and yes the plan was to stay at DLP and just venture into Paris for 2 days and just commute back and forth for the sightseeing on those days. I can speak some French. I can read and write it alot better actually. I want to make sure I do everything atleast once at DLP so that's why i want to spend as much time there as possible. Museums don't really interest me all that much, but I would like to visit a couple.

It might be worth your while looking on the DLP uk website as we have some 40% off deals at the moment. There's info on other threads about non uk visitors getting their tickets this way.
