Signature Dining are the more upscale restaurants at WDW where the entrees usually cost more than at the regular restaurants included in the DDP. But in my opinion using 2 DDP points for any restaurants is a waste, I would rather pay out of pocket and use the DDP points for something else.

It's certainly not a waste if one is on the DLX DDP as we were a couple of weekends ago. $72/day for 3 TS meals + 2 snacks + 1 refillable mug for the trip. One could hit the per day cost with one meal at a Signature Dining restaurant alone and there are still 2 snacks and another TS leftover!

The allotment of food you get at a signature restaurant for 2 credits on the basic dining plan is exactly the same as you'd get at a one-credit restaurant - one entree, one dessert, one non-alcoholic beverage. On the deluxe plan, throw in an appetizer. You don't get anything extra on the basic plan because it's 2 credits. These restaurants cost 2 credits because they're more "upscale" or because they charge a premium for entertainment (in the case of CRT or the dinner shows)

I'll take a filet and some sushi from California Grill over a chicken dinner at 50s Prime Time ANY day. :)

One can come out quite ahead on the DLX plan very easily.

As for which is a better use of credits it really depends on what you looking for. CG is loud and busy but the food is faboulous with great presentations. Entrees cost about 40 dollars and desserts about 10 if you are doing deluxe you could also get an appetizer. The dinner shows are all you can eat food slightly better then cs but also include beer or wine plus afamily style for about 50 dollars.

We are doing deluxe so we can do both a signature a show and CRT and still have real meals left over. Those 3 alone can set a family of 4 back 600 and deluxe for 5 days costs 900.

I'm not speculating on the quality of the food or the worthiness of the dining plan (I'm not a dining plan user, I don't like having to order food in a certain pattern - appetizer, entree, dessert or entree, dessert depending on which plan). I'd never come out ahead on the deluxe plan because I don't order or eat all that stuff. I am a two-appetizer and no dessert person at California Grill.

Many readers think that because a restaurant costs 2 credits they may be entitled to more than they'd be entitled to at a one credit restaurant (basic dining plan users may think they're entitled to a third course, usually). Not so - you aren't entitled to an appetizer at a 2 credit restaurant on the basic dining plan just because the restaurant costs 2 credits.

The only exception to that is the Fantasmic Package at Brown Derby, where you do get an appetizer on the basic (but only if you book the package).
