Before I go any further...1) I work for CPS so don't feel the need to call on me and 2) Kindergarten is not mandatory in Massachusetts ;) :lmao:
 HI!!!! Back by not-so-popular demand, I am starting a PTR report for our very first Star Wars Weekend Trip. We are going from May 27th-June 1st meaning that for the 2nd time this year, we are allowing our little princess to skip out on Kindergarten for a couple of days (2 to be exact).
If you are a new reader, I probably should introduce myself
 Hi, I'm Kristine. I'm a 33 year old wife/mommy/social worker/scrapbooker/sewer from Boston!

Here is Princess Aisling...pronounced Ash-ling so I will probably refer to her mostly as Ash. Our first trip this school year (where Aisling missed 3 days...are you following along- only 5 days total at WDW this year...the teachers can't get too mad can they???? :confused3) was for Aisling's 6th birthday. It was a surprise trip. If you enjoy surprise videos, check out the link for "Tink Got Me My Very Own Sharpies"...the link to YouTube is on the first page.

This is my DH. He humors me with all things Disney and for that...I must love him :lovestruc We have been together for 10 years. I smartly didn't let him know about the true extent of my Disney obsession until after he said "I do" ;) He likes to pretend that he's sick of going to Disney but has more fun than all of us when he gets there :rolleyes1

Am I first??? If so, woo-hoo!!!! :banana::woohoo::yay::dance3:
You probably have a good room only discount for this trip but just in case they just sent an e-mail to Disney Visa holders for a kids eat and get free park tickets on a five day four night package when staying with an adult on the QSDP.

Woo Hoo....I have readers!!!!!!! Thanks all!!!
You never know how people will react about the pulling out of school debate, hence the "I work for CPS" disclaimer ;) Personally, our school is SUPER strict. They can not miss a whole week at once or they will fail them. So we just split it up :rolleyes1

Interesting that Jen mentioned the hotel deal!!!! I was next going to tell you about our hotel story
If you read my latest TR, you know that Randy can no longer stand POP. 2 years in Deluxe and the man is ruined. Randy is in the "I work long hours all year to afford a nice hotel" club. I am in the "we are never in the room" club. But I'm also not stupid enough to turn down Deluxe! :rolleyes1
So I got an AP in 2009. I had gone on the October trip with my family and a girls trip in February. It made financial sense to get an AP for the year. It saved $70 on the park tickets PLUS the hotel savings on both trips. But that stupid AP just burned a hole in my pocket and my friend Stacy and I decided to go in January for my bday to get one last use out it. Problem was that the airfare never cooperated. So our "super cheap" trip got very pricey. In the end, I had to make the responsible decision to cancel.
In the meantime, I was totally bummed about not being able to go in January...even though it was the responsible thing to do. And then they announced Star Wars Weekend :cheer2:
So I threw out the idea to Randy who thought it was a good plan. We could go down for a long weekend. His only condition...no POP. I had planned to stay at POFQ so that was the plan. I priced it all out. Price worked. But then Disney started throwing out all these insane deals. I had spreadsheet upon spreadsheet of crazy Disney math.
THEN my friend Cindee threw out that she might rent DVC points and stay on property for the weekend (she's a local). HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
So I checked out the rental boards. I could get a studio for roughly the same prices as a Mod. I asked Randy what he thought. His visions immediately turned to the Beach Club Villas. Unfortunately, we were too late and all the studios were gone there but.....
They did have AKVs Savannah view  The resort that turned my DH into a Disney Deluxe hotel snob! We LOVE AKL so I knew that it was a great choice. I really had wanted to try somewhere new this trip but the more I'm thinking about it...for a short 5 night trip, it works out well to be somewhere we know so we don't have to waste valuable park time wandering around getting our bearings!

And your super awesome friend Stacy is staying there too with her boys. We are soooo looking forward to this trip. The kids are going to have a BLAST! The other day on the way home, Cooper asked if 3 people could ride together. I told him I was sure that we could all fit on some of the rides together. Jackson said, "no, Mom, he means us and Aisling". So they can't wait to ride rides with a girl they have never met!

I must admit your title sucked me in and then................to find you are from Boston  Well, I just had to read on more!
I don't hesitate to take my kids out and I must say I've never heard of a school that could "fail" a child for going on vacation if they were otherwise doing well academically. Fail them for whatever work was missed yes, but in general? Makes me wonder where the heck you live :rotfl: Anyway...............don't get me going on that whole issue. Sometimes I so wish I was the homeschooling type :rolleyes1
Anyway.............count me in!!

Don't get me started either...it's NUTS! We live in Methuen. My DD goes to private school. They will administratively fail them...which means they'll stay back. Yup, that's right...they will make them repeat a grade. Even if they had straight As before or after a trip. But private schools can get away with that I guess. Personally I feel like saying "hey, I'm paying you...if I want to pull her out and she's doing fine...it's just money I'm wasting for tuition isn't it???" :rotfl2:
Yeah for another trip!!!!!!!I won't be calling CPS...I would do the SAME THING LOL!!
Star Wars weekend was my second choice of times to go so I cant read to hear about your trip!!

Ahhhhh...private school. That explains it! I know a lot of public schools "threaten", but if push came to shove they'd be hard pressed to really do anything beyond not allowing a child to make up the work which, if they were doing really well, wouldn't have a huge effect overall
btw, we were neighbors. We lived right next door in North Andover until 2005. Now we are just east of Worcester.

Since you've been there since the conception of my trip reports I figured the least I could do is be there for you until the end of yours. Of course it looks like this promise may have us both writing about trips taken with our great grand children but hey, I'm in if you are.
Ah the lure of the Beach club. I almost allowed myself to be washed ashore on one of it's waves. But like you said the crazy disney math and the multiple discounts to explore did me in. In the end, I had to give up the surf. But I'm keeping my breakfast at Cape May. Even though it's for fringin 7:30 and it's probably gonna kill us. :faint:

My DH is from N. Andover. I'm from Methuen originally. We lived in N. Andover until last June when we finally smartened up and realized that we could get a bigger house/yard for our money in Methuen.

Did the math kill you? I hate math. It was way too much...room only codes, AP discounts (if I renewed my AP), Disney Visa offers, gift card offers.
I'm happy with our choice. It was only about $70 more than POFQ would have been so I'm okay with that.
I can't BELIEVE that you are still doing a 7:30 ADR at Cape May. Those better be some darn good eggs ;)

We also have a hard time taking time off around school breaks (plus mommy doesn't have the patience for the crowds :rolleyes1). I'm (clearly) fine with kids missing school esp. Kindergarten if they are doing well and don't need the extra classroom time.
Aisling IS well aware of this trip. She put in her order with Miss Stacy for a Star Wars- themed dress. She talks about it CONSTANTLY. She would be packed already if I let her :scared1:

As for the school debate, I plan to pull Jordan out of school as long as she can handle making up the work.

Sounds great so far!
We can be fined over here if we take the kids out of school, for my December trip my girls missed the last 5 days of term, they only watch DVD's all week anyway :sad1: Anyway the Head said he'd have to inform the Child Welfare Officer as it was for more than 4 days. We could have been fined about £1,000 ($1,500) but thankfully snow closed the school on the very last day (unheard of here) so we only had 4 days off :yay: :rotfl: But really the CWO should be more worried about the kids that are constantly off not good parents who want to take their kids to WDW for a few days. Anyway vent over :rotfl:

That is why I would love to have the means and knowledge to start a year-round school! I personally think kids need more frequent breaks instead of one long one over the summer where they forget things and get out of the habit of school. Of course, the other benefit is that several breaks throughout the year would be perfect for trips to WDW! ;)

No kidding. What kills me about Ash's school is that because it's private, they don't have to follow the 180 day rule. So she has all kinds of days off, half days, etc that the public schools don't. It's nuts. They are now giving them 3 days off for Easter (as a reward for a fundraiser). REALLY? And I jokingly have suggested that our teachers are a bunch of party animals because they recently announced half days for St. Paddy's Day and Cinco De Mayo!

I found it at Walmart. I will try to take a pic tonight and post it. It was super cheap- maybe $4 a yard. I am making Ash a dress and the boys bowling shirts. Though, they might have to take them off if it gets too hot. The fabric is black/dark blue and has little teeny white stars on it. It is really cool.

I can think of a million ways my parenting may ruin Jordan but taking her out of school to go to WDW is not one of them! So don't worry you are not ruining Ash - in fact you are showing her that family time is important and that education, knowledge and life lessons also come from enriching experiences not just from school and books.

Yup...Airfare has become a thorn in my side. That's the whole reason I had to cancel my trip in January. I haven't even told Randy how much it ended up costing because he would lose it :ssst: I've been watching SW daily since we booked and the airfare on the way there was holding pretty steady at $159. This week it went up to $164. That's when I got nervous and decided that I could wait any longer. At least it's SW so if it goes down...we'll get the credit. And no baggage fees!
The real annoyance was that I had a DING this morning for Orlando (luckily is was only from May 1st- May 22nd) or I would have cried!
Yes I have a pretty good local following on my TRs and the sad part is that we have NEVER met in person! The only one I've met is LuccaDrake (Beka). The worst case is Jennifer48 who lives within WALKING distance of my house and we've never met :scared1: Jen actually was cut off on the highway by my DH and only recognized him from my TRs :rotfl2:

The worst case is Jennifer48 who lives within WALKING distance of my house and we've never met :scared1: Jen actually was cut off on the highway by my DH and only recognized him from my TRs :rotfl2: I know! We need to rectify that soon. Even if its meeting for drinks at the Loop or a stop at the Disney store in the mall! :rotfl:
I still can't believe that that was Randy that day that cut me off. DH thought I was looney for thinking it was him and then I was right! :lmao:

No kidding we need to get together. We should be ashamed of ourselves!!!!
The airfare is flying out of Manch. SW doesn't fly to Orlando direct out of Boston (not that I want to spend the parking fees at Logan). Airfare math is almost as bad as Disney math (flight price vs. parking fees vs baggage fees). For us and our 4 bags :scared1: it's cheaper to fly on SW this point. Although I am determined to get it down to 3 bags this time. Aisling's darn pettis take up so much room though!!!!

Love those Princess Leia photos! I thought you guys would get good airline rates leaving from larger airports. I can fly on AirTran from my tiny airport to Orlando for about $250 a ticket as long as you book far enough in advance. Stacy is right - hotel check, airfare check, now the obsessive planning can begin!

What a wonderful surprise! Another trip!
I do miss the days when we were able to take the kids out of school for Disney. :sad1: I am still in denial that Tricia is starting high school next year...
Enjoy it while you can!
Looking forward to all the plans... VAKL is amazing!

We used to! I never paid over 200 to Orlando until October. Now this is kinda the norm. I hate Airtran so I won't fly them. They usually have fares for about SW or JetBlue offers but we usually skip right over that option. I know plenty of people on here have had good experiences with them...we just haven't :sad2:

For those who don't follow my ranting on Facebook...I am in Lion King h-e-l- l! Well not hell exactly. We went to see the Lion King on Sunday. It was absolutely fantastic. Only problem is that I can NOT get the music out of my head (listening the CD on repeat for 2 days doesn't really help either ;) :rotfl:) But I can't help it. The music is fabulous. And it is completely getting me in the mood for AKV!!!
So of course that started me on a quest to find the lobby music that they play at AKL. I have found a list on Mousesavers of different CDs that the use. Now I'm trying to figure it out if I should download the songs on ITunes. Why can't they just sell a CD of the loop of songs they play???? Come on Disney- money making scheme here!!!
Aisling was a big hit at Lion King. She of course wore her FOLTK dress I made for AK last trip. Luckily it still fit with a top and leggings underneath it for Boston weather.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Aisling%20Bday%20Trip/AK/ak5.jpg
A stage manager asked to show her off so Aisling took off with her around the theatre having people check out her dress. We walked out of the theatre and of course the first question was "what are we seeing next time" This child is obsessed. She is more fun to watch than the show. Her face just completely lights up the whole time...that's if she's not singing. (no clue where she gets that from ;)) My mom leaned over to me during the scene where Scar kills Mufasa and said "there is something wrong with her"...she was still grinning ear to ear :scared1:
Best moment of the show is when Rafiki (who is female in the stage show) came out for her big solo. Aisling apparently wanted to make it a duet. We were in the 3rd row. And Ash sang at the TOP of her lungs the entire song! (which is not a song that's in the movie so most kiddos don't know it). I was waiting for Rafiki to exit the stage and come down and hit her with that stick!!! :lmao:

Congrats on booking your airfare and I wish mine was that cheap :rotfl: Flight prices have gone crazy here, I looked the other day and for the 4 of us to fly to Orlando in August it will be over £4,000 that's about $6,000 :faint: I don't think we'll be back to WDW for a while!!!

$6000????? YIKES!!!! Ok I won't complain about $314 then! :scared1:
I've been to Ireland lots of times but I lived there for a year doing an international internship at a residential facility for 12-18 year old boys. Fun times!

WHAT's THIS??? WHAT's THIS????
Is Tink on my ticker finally in the middle???????:cool1::yay::banana::cool1::yay::banana::c ool1::yay:
I've had an interesting weekend. Yesterday I brought Aisling to dance and when I came home I found my DH, the pool guy, and my neighbor in my backyard....opening our pool :scared1: Ya...I live in Boston. It's March. You do the meteorogical math :headache: We need a new skimmer and for the filter to have a major cleaning so the pool guy was over doing that and convinced Randy to open the whole pool...AGAIN :headache::headache::headache:
Then we had a cookout last night to wrap up the fab 70 plus temps we had yesterday. During the cookout, I get a call from my mom crying (and my mom is NOT a complainer so this was concerning). She was spring cleaning and on a ladder and fell. She hit her head and totally banged herself up. Managed to crack a couple of ribs along the way. She also has some of the nasiest bruises that I've ever seen.
Today we had a girls day planned at the Museum of Science. This is an identity exhibit that she wanted to seen. Needless to say, I drove it but every bump she was yelling out in pain. We had to take elevators everywhere. We decided to see 2 shows (Sharks in 3D and Antartica at the Omni) During Sharks...I all of a sudden did NOT feel so good. I made it through the show...barely. We figured maybe lunch would help so we went and grabbed salads. NOT a wise choice as it turned out. I just ended up getting sick again. We had tickets for the Omni so I decided to brave it. For those who are not from the Boston area, the Omni Theatre is a 180 degree theatre (think Soarin on Steroids). Um, ya that didn't help the nausea. So we were quite a pair at MOS! But we were laughing so hard at ourselves...it still was a wonderful day!
And then to come home and see that TINK IS IN THE MIDDLE!!!!

If truth be told, Jetblue is my fav, with southwest a close second. But as price is almost always a factor I have flown Airtran many times and in fact are flying them again for my next trip. One way though. And they have already changed the times 3 times since booking. But it was cheap-cheap. So I'll suffer through it. Maybe not quietly.

Um...ya...I would try next week if the timing works out ;)

It may be happening next week . It said by the end of the week on the first announcement and then Mid-April on that. I would check

You got the Simply Violet????? Oh it's so pretty!!!
So I got a $50 bonus at work for a contest. I got an Amex Gift Card. I was going to get another Vera but I don't need one and I'm trying to be (somewhat :ssst:) good. Tried to use it to get my new lens but it wouldn't go through on Amazon. Does anyone know if I can use it to buy a Disney Gift Card. We charge everything to the room at WDW. If we have gift cards/reward points, we go down the night before check out and apply it to our room balance. For some reason, I think WDW hotels don't accept Amex Gift Cards. So then I came up with the thought that if I could go to the Disney Store and buy a Disney Gift Card with it, I could still use it for Disney. Anyone ever tried this????
My other issue this week is that my new baby arrived safe and sound. I put it on my camera....took 10 pics...and my camera stopped working. It got the dreaded Err 99 message. (This is a general failure error on Canons). First...I cried. Then I went online and looked at all the suggestions. The first one was to simply turn off the camera and turn it back on. Tried that and the camera wouldn't turn on at all???? :confused3 So I figured (hoped) that the battery must have been dying and switched it out. Turned it on and the error code was gone  Issue is that I can't find ANYTHING online about a dying battery causing this code so now I'm terrified that it's going to fail AGAIN...cleary right when I'm about to get that perfect shot at Disney :headache: So I will be continuing to play with the camera this weekend but if anyone could send me good camera vibes...that would be great :grouphug:

Stacy....they want to know how the sewing is coming :rolleyes1
All joking aside, Stacy is making something special for Aisling and her boys to wear and other than that, she's wearing repeats from October. The only thing I'm making is a Sea World outfit. Aisling picked out the fabric (which I really don't like but she does....:headache:) but that as far as it's gone. We are battling because I think she should wear capris and a top and she wants a dress. I'm sure she will win

Couldn't you just buy some fake princess Leia buns to pin on?
I vote for the Seaworld dress too. Do you know how hard it is to get my DD9 into any type of a skirt now? Never mind a dress. It just breaks my heart. I wear dresses and skirts all the time. She is going to wear a minnie and a Daisy T-shirt we just bought on our next trip though. BUT with jean shorts or capri's. It's all jeans, all the time here at my house. So that's why I voting for the skirt.

I could buy fake buns but I'm thinking it's going to be WAAAAY to hot for that. We'll just make due with what we have. I'm more concerned about her recital at this point. I hate the thought of buying fake hair for that.
She will probably get a dress. I just wanted to make something different. We are the direct opposite...I'm always in jeans and SHE wants to wear the dresses!

Ya...I'm a terrible saver. Saving enough for our house down payment/closing costs was torture :rotfl: Randy is better than me thankfully. I also have found saving my money in an ING account is a lot easier for me since I can't touch it without 3 days notice. It's hot here today too. Forecasted to be 87. NEVER this hot. Luckily on Good Friday one of my coworkers and I ran out on our lunch break (since we couldn't eat lunch because we were fasting) and got a quick pedi. Never thought my toes would be showing on April 7th!
Regarding the tickets, we decided awhile ago that we will get Aisling tickets to do something for her bday/Christmas. I think we only got her gifts for her 1st bday. My hesitancy about Wicked is that she saw it for her 4th bday. But she LOVED every second of it. So I figured at this point, she's old enough to decide for herself if she wants to give up a chance at another show to see it again.
I am so sad we can't join you at MP. How fun with that have been. I have to get to NY soon. I'm dying to go make a muppet!

If she loves Wicked enough to pick it again over something new, I think buying tickets was the right thing to do! That is a great tradition of doing tickets for bday/Christmas.

We loved it too. Here is my little Elphaba the last time we went. I refused to paint her green. We told her the theatre wouldn't allow it ;) :rotfl: As it was we had to pray that we wouldn't be caught bringing her in. After we got the tickets, someone informed us that they weren't allowing children in under 6. She was 3!!!! Um, shouldn't that information be on ticketmaster??? Your pool is OPEN????!!!!! :rotfl: I can't even imagine wading waist deep in a pool now.......................freezing would be an understatement! My parents have a pool. Dad usually opens it around...................IDK....................4t h of JUly :rotfl: We've got a hot tub - that's more my speed (anything under 88 degrees is too cold for me!)

I haven't thought too much about this year. I love flowers too. The more the merrier :) Right now I'm just cleaning up the mess from the winter. YUCK!

Um, yes, my pool is open. It almost caused a divorce. I left my DH home alone with his buddy (who runs a pool company) for 2 hours. They were supposed to be replacing our skimmer (which was leakinga little last year) and cleaning out our filter. I came home and it was open. :scared1: I wanted to murder both of them. I told him it couldn't be opened until we got home from DISNEY (as in JUNE). He listens well.
It's $110 for orchestra for Wicked. Yes, mezzanine and balcony are cheaper. Let me know if you need the pre-sale code.

Thank you. We had so many random strangers stop and take pictures with her. They thought it was HILARIOUS that she was 1) there and 2) that she was dressed like Elphaba instead of Glinda

It's $110 for orchestra for Wicked. Yes, mezzanine and balcony are cheaper. Let me know if you need the pre-sale code.
Hey, gee, thanx much for the offer:) When do the tickets actually go on sale? I assume the pre-sale refers to anytime before then? Where did you get your code? Perhaps you are "on the inside" ????????????
Personally I think you should have made dh go swimming yesterday. AND everyday now until the date most 'reasonable' New Englanders would open their pools for the season :rotfl:

I'm in the Broadway Across America eclub...they send the presales. I wish I had some better connections than that (otherwise I wouldn't be paying $110 for tickets :rotfl:)
No clue when the tickets actually go on sale. I didn't bother looking since I had the eclub code and the presale code.

Luckily, she's huge so nobody batted an eyelash.

First off, what an adorable picture! Aisling makes a great Elphaba!
And seriously, they wouldn't let kids under 6 in? Wow. I had no idea about that. Yes, they definitely should have mentioned that before you bought the tickets! But that's great that she still got in!

I don't know what is up with the "no kids under 6" thing. Apparently they thought it would be too scary???? Um, not for my kid!
Clearly, she doesn't look 3 in the pic so nobody even questioned her age!

PSA about Character Changes
Don't know if everyone saw this news this morning but here are some character changes coming this weekend to WDW
On April 11th, Ariel will leave her Grotto for good. She will likely appear elsewhere in the parks, maybe even with Prince Eric! But unfortunately we have to say goodbye to the Grotto to make space for the Fantasyland Expansion.
Other changes in the coming weeks involving characters at the Magic Kingdom:
Goofy will move from Frontierland to Adventureland and be dressed in a pirate costume.
Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar will replace the Country Bears in the Frontierland Hoedown.
Pooh and Tigger will leave Fantasyland and now will appear in Town Square.
Snow White will leave Town Square and will start greeting Cinderella’s Wishing Well.
Chip and Dale will relocate from Town Square to Tomorrowland.
Mary Poppins and Bert will appear in Fantasyland near the Cinderella’s Carrousel. (This one confused me...I've seen Mary there lots of times already)
Wendy will join Peter Pan in Fantasyland.
Character changes in Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
Lotso from Toy Story 3 will be debuting at the Animation Building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, replacing Carl, Russell and Dug from UP.
Jojo and Goliath will no longer be greeting near Playhouse Disney Live. However, you can still find Jojo at the Play’n’Dine meal where she’ll be joined by Handy Manny.
Piglet, Pooh and Stitch will join Donald, Daisy, and Minnie at the Sorcerer’s Hat in the mornings. How exciting!

Ariel is suppose to be on her legs with Prince Eric in the Adventureland Gazebo. She will move back to Fantasyland but I am not sure if she will appear with or without her legs.

Who wants to hear the completely stupid thing I just did which made me throw up??!?! (I know that sounds tempting!!!!)
I got home from work and there was a DING on SW. $99 :banana: It was only good for my flight home but fine. So I cancel my original flight home, book the DING fare and woo hoo now have $90 in SW credits :banana::banana:
OR SO I THOUGHT :scared1::scared1::scared1:
I went to put the info in my Blackberry and realized the flight number changed. Hmmm that's weird given that I had booked the exact same flight. Here in lies the problem. I booked TWO FLIGHTS FROM MANCHESTER TO ORLANDO. Yup...I wasn't coming home I was going there twice :scared1::scared1::scared1:
I immediately call SW and get an angel on the phone
OR SO I THOUGHT :scared1::scared1::scared1:
She immediately tells me that she can fix the error at it will be ok. Um, ya...she was lying. She couldn't fix my error. She can just tell me how to cancel the DING and book a new flight. LADY I KNOW HOW TO DO THAT!!!
SOOOOOO if my flights weren't expensive enough, I then had to rebook them at $20 a person more than I originally paid.
But wait...I had an epiphany. All my DINGS always just say "from Manchester" (didn't realize that until tonight) So I go into Ding and change my home airport to Orlando. Amazing...there is a $99 Ding from Orlando to Manchester listed. YES, I won't lose the $60!!!!!! So i go to book that.
SOLD OUT for all flights on June 1st. :sad2::sad2::sad2:
Yup...so I just made a $60 mistake. I was sobbing like there was no tomorrow. Randy is no help as he just kept saying "it's only $60...it's only $60" Guess he doesn't get the principal that we are now spending $375/person to get to Orlando. UNHEARD of fares!!!!!! And that ladies and gentlement is why I am going to puke
If anyone wants to send any airfare vibes that I end up a least getting some of it back in a credit, it would be much appreciated :flower3:

sorry about the airfare! I haven't looked at kayak a single time since I booked. I do not want to know that it is cheaper (and nothing I can do about it). OK, I lied, I just checked and rates from LR are up around 400.
Are you driving to the airport or can your mom drop you guys off? If she can, maybe you could fly back to a different airport with a better rate? I don't know a lot about these things since our nearest 2nd airport is 2 hrs away!

HIJACK ALERT - hope you don't mind Kristine!
I know a lot of you guys are show/Broadway people so I thought you could help.
Do you guys think it would be okay to wear nice jeans with a dressy top or sweater and nice shoes to see a 2pm show of Mary Poppins on Broadway?
I planned to wear linen capris which look nice and are comfortable but it is going to be way too cold. I don't have any pants that I like enough comfort wise to wear for a 16 hour day - riding a bus, walking around the city and seeing a show. Thoughts? I don't want to be inappropriately dressed but I want to be comfortable too.
Thanks! Jen

You will be absolutely fine. I went to see a show in khaki shorts, sneakers, and a tshirt on Bway once :scared1: (we were hanging out in the NYC for the day and decided on a whim to get tickets at the TKS booth) Problem was we ended up in the front row. I felt like a clown but you know what...nobody looked twice at us. Do you have comfy nice shoes???? Frankly, I would re-think them. Unless you are good at walking in nice shoes. Me...not so much.
Hope you guys have a great time at the show. Thank goodness we didn't join you. They decided to announce that Aisling is having dance pics AND class tomorrow!

Thanks! I knew I could count on you for a good opinion. The shoes aren't heels - they are Bass loafers so I think I will be okay.
Thanks for the show wishes! I am a little nervous - this is our first day trip to NYC and it is going to be a really long day for Jordan. We catch the charter bus at 6:45am and get home at 11pm. I wish you could have joined us but you definitely wouldn't want to miss dance pictures. Next time!

I do not know. It's really weird. In fact it's not on the show schedule through 2011 at this point. Very odd. Why don't you like NYC?????

I'm your Bway gal ;) :rotfl: I have boxes of Playbills. By the way, I just finished Kristin Chenowirth's (original Glinda) autobiography...it was quite cute if you are looking for a quick read. She gives a little Bway dirt and some insider stuff about Wicked (including how Elphaba flies by way of a computerized petti)
Hopefully Jordan will sleep on the bus. Aisling stayed awake the whole drive last year and then fell asleep just as we pulled into the city :headache:

Thank you! It was one of the best moments ever. The interaction was great and it was SNOW WHITE (me and Ash's favorite). And it made it even better when I found out that they didn't have them all together at every MNSSHP....we just lucked out!

Today I had my Mickey Mom's Club Party! It turned out to be a success. The kiddos all seemed to have fun which was the important thing!
We had 9 kids who were able to come (it's school break here in Mass). I picked up a couple of extra things for the bags from $1 Spot at Target. We made the punch recipe that's on the Mickey Mom's website. We also made Mickey head shaped rice krispie treats that I let the kids dip in red and yellow melted chocolate. We also made pirate swords/fairy wands (pretzels rods dipped in white chocolate and rolled in sprinkles). I got the Mickey chicken nuggets from Target and the Mickey cheese from Walmart to do cheese and crackers. We save all our popcorn buckets from our WDW trips so I made popcorn and filled them all.
The kids played the Bingo game, played outside for awhile, and played Toy Story Mania on the Wii. I had my scrapbooks out for people to look through and the planning video playing when everyone arrived.
We didn't do trivia because we had some younger kiddos
We blew up our balloons at the party store. They only burst one filling them up but we lost a bunch of them during the party. I think it was the temp outside making them pop.
Downloading some pics now :thumbsup2

Unfortunately I can't really post more pics. The other kids are in them and well you understand...
I had to write 3 little essays to get selected for the big red box of Disney goodies. You had to be a member of the Disney Mom's Club in order to get the invitation to write the essays. Then you had to have been to WDW within the past year. If you had, you could apply. It was really fun. Of course it costs you more than the stuff they send you but that's ok!

Sorry I have not posted sooner, just catching up on DIS after a crazy week. I posted the first thing I made on my PTR--a reversible bubble skirt that is black and red w/ white polka dots. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. The other two things I have planned and bought the stuff for: 1) an Ariel shirred dress and 2) a skirt to go with her birthday top I will make also. I want to do more, but I think I am going to run out of time. :faint:
Ouch! They would not wave the fee after the confusion? :confused3: I sure hope you got it all worked out (without having to spend the extra money--I would cringe too).
I want to read the Kingdom Keepers series before we go but I have not had a chance yet. I hope to this summer (amongst all my school stuff! :lmao:)
I am still here--just got delayed with life! I know, I know how dare life get in the way of DISing :rotfl:
Wow--I cannot believe how quickly your trip is coming up. I am looking forward to the day I can say weeks, instead of months! Though, I have so much left I want to do for it, so maybe not.

At work now :) I had court today so my MIL is watching Ash for the day (no folks...I didn't get in trouble...I work in the court house half the week!) Tomorrow it's supposed to rain so maybe we'll go see Oceans and Friday we might hit up the library. Yesterday we went to visit Aisling's "friends" at the zoo. Pics coming when I can upload them.
And in other news...my ME documents came :woohoo: Normally this is exciting but this time it was a total surprise. I was told that I wouldn't get them because we rented DVC from someone who lives in England. But we got them...woo hooo...we don't have to lug all our bags across the airport (unless our flight gets delayed) We also can skip the ME line that they now have for people who don't have their booklets. :cheer2:

It is tempting. As it stands...since it's so close to the hotel, I might run over there solo to take some pics. But we'll see when we roll in from SW. It's our last night so we'll definitely sleep in the next morning (we always do on checkout day).
