View Full Version : Price of costumes in the parks?

As we are celebrate the kids birthdays whilst we are away, we thought it would be fun to buy them all a dress up outfit each whilst we are there to wear on the day of their birthdays.

However, I saw somewhere (?) earlier that costumes can cost up to 55 euro in the parks! Is this correct?

The costumes we will most likely buy are selling in the Disney store over her for approximately £18-£25. If the price is so inflated in the parks, we will just buy them here and take them over.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

They are very expensive in the park - definitely buy before you go.

I heard that they were expensive there, so I've already bought my DD's a cinderella dress & Jessie outfit from Tesco - £9.00 each!

I think the dresses are different at DLRP to the UK Disney stores (but could be wrong). However they are definitely a lot more expensive.

Thanks for the tip, I will have to have a look in Tesco. What a huge price difference!

So far we will need Woody, princess Tiana, Ariel and Peter Pan....they are prone to change their minds though!!

they are very different and much nicer too

when we got dd her minnie costume in 2008 it was 45 euros the princess ones start around this and go up as they get more extravagant lol there are several different styles for each princess dress

the costumes in the parks are very expensive. starting from 45 and going to to 60. this is without any crowns or anything. to be honest i dont really like the costumes they have at the parks they are about the same quality as cheap ones i have seen at home. they have a few nice ones but i dont think they are worth the money. i have bought all of ashleighs dresses off ebay

dds minnie dress has lasted 2 yrs and is perfect from dlp, her asda dress looks tacky and didnt last, her cinderella and belle dress from disney store over here look old and wore after just 3 washes

I agree they are different - but I would never pay 55e for one! My 4 year old has a Tinkerbell dress from the disney store and it had just about fallen to pieces after 6 weeks - my 2 year old has a minnie mouse dress and ears from Asda, it's lovely and cost about the same as just the ears would at dlp(£12)!

yes there are some nicer ones like the minnie ones but a lot look cheap and tacky and definatly not worth the price tag.

i buy ashleighs ones from walt disney world and they are totally different. the difference in quality is quite evident.

We went nov time and took dresses with us. I'm def glad I did as the same dress at dlp was 60 euros. Like some have said they prob were better quality but I would never justify spending that amount. Our friends were looking at the buzz light year one which was 55.

The girls hadn't seen the dresses before we went so I laid them out in the room and told them mickey has left them for them!!! X.

I've just bought a really great woody one from ebay, £20.

Have to say given the prices in the aprks, I would have much rather done this!!

Oooo sorry for butting in but how long ago did you get the Jessie outift? and did they do them in little sizes?? Skye really wants to be Jessie for her birthday party this weekend (the day before we go away, why on earth did I do that?! lol) but the cheapest outfit I could find was £20 on ebay! Otherwise she's going to wear her Belle dress.

I found a lovely Snow White costume in the party section of a larger Clintons store. It was only £12 but seemed much nicer than the supermarket ones as it had the velvetty front IYKWIM!!

I've got Skye all her princessy dress from supermarkets though and she's none the wiser! (then she is only 2!) When she's older I will definately consider getting her a proper Disney one (probably still only get at the Disney store at home still though!) but she wears them so much and she'll grow out of them quickly too!

We bought Amelie her Minnie Mouse dress 2 years ago at DLP and the main difference is it has a tail (it's attached with Velcro). It's lasted quite well and she'll probably wear it this time. When we bough it, I think the price was €35 but the enchanted dresses were €65 and one poor guy with two dughters was being stung for 2 of them!

Aw Skye would love that! She's only little but they have it in 3-4 online so fingers crossed! I'm going to leave work early to pop to Tesco on my way home now! :) She'll have an outfit to wear everyday next week then too!
