Here are a couple links to the next truck I want to drag the trailer around. If it is half as good as they say it should be one heck of a truck.

I think I'll be waiting till 2013 or 2014 to look for a good 2-3 year old model. No way I want to pay that kind of money for a new truck.

I will be keeping my truck 2 more years I know. When I bought the truck I bought the 7 year or 200,000 mile Ford warranty on the motor. So I still have 2 years or 110,000 miles to go. I agree what they want for a new superduty is crazy. I have owned all 3 major brands of trucks and my superdutys have been best overall truck hands down. Now my GMC work van thats another story 178,000 miles on it no major problems and it runs great,

Mike, I have had an 03, and an 08, both were first year of new engines, and won't do that again... LOL I think I will let Ford work out the bugs without me this time!
I am just about ready to pull the trigger on a 2010, pretty darned soon, looking at a f-350 SRW 6.4l crewcab. :D

Why srw when you had drw? I ask because I have srw and was thinking of going drw. With my toy hauler I am just under the limts of 12,000lb for a conventional trailer. Were drw was 15,000lb with a 4:10

Mike, our trailer isn't really that heavy, it's only about 11k packed to the gills. The biggest reason is fuel mileage!!! I am hoping that I can get a little better than the crappy 8mpg I get now... LOL
The other reasons are just size and money, if you drive the truck every day for every day things, DRW kinda get in the way in the wally world parking lot. LOL ;)
Right now, the 2 that are on my short list are both 350 srw's one is a short bed with 20's and is really sweet looking, it's black with chrome package, the other is long bed, blue with the 20's and looks pretty sweet too, but is a little more money cuz of some unnecessary options.. like sync, and fx4
Not sure what we are going to do yet, will probably work out the details on Thursday night at the dealers.

Someone tried a similar stunt with a Chevy. Didn't quite work out.

I love the king ranch interior.
right now my 05 Duramax has only 59k on it and is now paid for. Wont be seeing a new truck in my driveway any time soon, I figure I got at least another 200k to go on this one.

Thanks for the info. I would go for the long bed they just handle trailers better. We had a short bed dodge and that thing bet us to death compared to my crewcab longbed. The dodge was the DW and we traded it for another dodge but a long bed. Plus the long bed hauls the cart better. Have fun getting a new truck I still have a couple years to go. When you get it post a pic.

Sorry no website for that. But if I lived up north I would have a snow plow on the front of my truck.

No plow, I already work 2 jobs. Most of the trucks with plows on them are beat on pretty bad, personally I would never buy a used truck that has been used to plow. I have a 70ft driveway and a Craftsmen snow blower that handles it just fine, the subdivision road is paid for with homeowners association dues.

I've had my eye on the F450 with the 6.7, but I think I'm going to wait a year to see how the motor is. My 05 6.0 is/has been trouble free, and I don't want to risk it.

I have been checking out the used HDT market lately. It would be much cheaper for me to keep my F250 and buy a 2005 or so Volvo HDT than it would be to trade for a F450. I may end up going that route when I buy a big toy hauler.

I had thought the same thing but I don't wan't to maintain 2 trucks. A big rig for me would set way to much.

Quick - my dad is about to sign on an '08 F-450 DRW that seems like a good deal, only has around 7,200 miles on it. Has 4 doors, leather, Navigation system in-dash, and an 8-foot bed so the thing is a beast and he has them down to 41k. But it sounds too good to be true. Still has a 100k warranty, but wondering if that '08 engine is a problem?

Dan, the 08 was not a bad engine, just had a few bugs. Mine gets terrible mileage. Some of them had problems with the DPF regen thing, mine smoked SOOOO bad when I first got it, people would pull off the road behind me. :lmao:

Yeah, that blue is a lot better than the neon blue on my Toy. Although mine is pretty easy to spot in the parking lot, shines like a beacon ;).
John, thanks for the quick reply, having brunch with the parents later this morning. Call me old-fashioned, but even at the discount price he found the truck for, 41k is serious coin in my book.
He's taking the equipment trailer down with him this week when he goes to get the 450, will drive his current 350 onto the trailer and tow it home. I hope he takes pictures of that. I sure hope that Ford appreciates him spending my inheritance this way
