Are you able to use DVC points to book a Disney Cruise?

Yup! Check the member site for the point chart...the points are per person though not per room.

Although they are high enough that the first guess is likely to be that they ARE per room. :rotfl:

I just got back from a DC using my points. I found out while I was there that you can book some people in the room using points and some using cash. Apparently, you should book the 1st and 2nd people in the room with points and the 3rd and 4th with cash, because the 3rd and 4th people are so much cheaper. I haven't tried it yet. Hope it helps.

I have looked at using our points for DCL a few times... but with all the deals that come up or even early booking savings, I have always found it cheaper to pay cash for our cruises. If you look at each point being worth at least $10/ pt... we always seems to see we've saved $500 +.
That being said, we also don't have a million points...

Definitley! I could not figure out cruise points, I kept thinking the per person point amount was the TOTAL. I think the cruises are sort of a ripoff anyway, so much more to see at DW!!!

DH & I booked the WB TA in Sept. for 143 pts each. That's a steal. We had to book within 3 days of disembarkation, which we did. Don't usually think DVC pts used for DCL is a good deal but in this case it was. It breaks down to 10 pts a day per person. Not bad when the only cash out of pocket is the $95 booking fee and tips. Oh, and the points are per person. Not per cabin. Whatever you decide... have a great time.

We booked our June, 2011 on the Dream on points and found that we only would have saved about $300 by renting our points and paying cash. So, sometimes, booking a cruise on points isn't *that* bad of a deal. We had the points to spare for 2011 so we opted to just book it and be done with it. :thumbsup2

IMO, it is better to rent your points and pay cash for a cruise. The points it takes for a cruise are way too expensive.

What kind of cabin is that though, a 12?
I can't see the cash price on DCL sight as it is sold out. But you could have gotten a category 9 with an oceanview for about the equivalent in cash for your 143 points each. Also OBC that you won't get with the points and no $95 fee.

That is a steal!!! :worship: Have an awesome time! I suppose it is, if you consider that it is Disney doing the stealing.

I have absolutely no interest in renting points. For me, using points for a cruise is worth every point.

Don't forget to add in the port fees, which you do not pay with points.

Port fees are included in the cash prices quoted by DCL.

You can use your points to pay for your cruise, of course. Many people do. But for many others, it makes no sense to do so. The math just doens't work in favor of using points.

My time is worth money. I realize I pay more points for the convenience of not going through the hassle or risk of renting points. For me, that math does add up.
