View Full Version : Best Snack for your money

I was just wondering what the best snacks were when your on the DDP? I've noticed that some places you can get a pretzel or a bottle of water as a snack but other places you can get much more like a turkey leg. So what snacks are the best for your money? Thanks! :)

The pastry at the bakery in France at EPCOT is amazing. Had the best Napoleon and couldn't believe it was a snack credit. It seemed like the parks actually had better snack options than our resort.

The snacks options have changed a fair bit in the last year. You can't get Turkey legs and I don't think you ever could. They no longer allow most of the candy as it now has 'for sharing' on the label. Everything must be single serving and nothing is priced over $4.

Disagree on the latter part--stuffed pretzels are $4.29 but count as a snack.

I don't have any experience on what constitutes a snack. I've never been to WDW with the dining plan and have had to be conservative with snacks. This trip (the girls' first) we will be on the QSDP so I have been researching and I am making a snack wish list. So far it includes:
Ice Cream Sandwich
Dole Whip
School Bread and last but not least the traditional
Mickey Ice Cream Bar

Cinnamon Buns at Main Street Bakery

That would be my vote! I usually ate one of those (or maybe 1.5) with a cup of coffee (from our hotel, they had a really good Italian brand) for breakfast on our last trip. Although, I think I am going to have to try that ice cream sandwhich in the first post on our nexy trip! Ummmm!

BLECH!! I found the pretzels to be hard, tough and chewy, overly salty and absoulutely HORRIBLE! It was sad actually, as I usually LOVE a soft, warm, salty pretzel, but these where so bad they went straight in the garbage!! Save your snack credit!

There was some sort of strawberry, whipped topped funnel cake we got at Magic Kingdom last year a little bit before the fireworks. We were shocked that it was a single credit - but it was. So delish. Even without the topping, it was so yummy, TDF!

EDIT: The place is called Sleepy Hollow (in Liberty Square, Near the hall of Presidents)

And what is School bread?

You get it at the bakery in Norway. It's sort of like a bavarian cream filled doughnut except the pastry part is bread. It's topped with coconut. I tried one last visit because so many people on here were drooling over them. It was good but I doubt I'll have another one.

Dont know where you got the pretzels but the ones we got in Germany were huge!!! and Soft. We keept a link to the snack thread list on our balckberries last year. That way when we got hungry we looked up what we were near and got something great!. Loved the Shaved Ice outside of Japan they were big too. Dole wips at the Poly, Ice cream at the shop just over the bridge to frountier land. We didnt have a bad snack all week:banana:

I agree with disney77. There are some great snack ideas in the confirmed snacks post. My personal fav choices are the crepes in France @ Epcot, the doh bars at 'cookes of Dublin' in DTD (they are deep fried chocolate bars), and the triple chocolate cake available at many resorts and restos around the parks (a chose this because after tring many snack all over Disney, its my DDs absolute favourite).

The candied almonds are one of my favorite snacks.
Also, and it probably isn't true anymore, but in January 2010 I could get a caramel apple with or without nuts at the candy store in Frontier Land. I forget the name of the store, but it's near Pecos Bill's. It is priced at $4.99, but they said the register wasn't "changed", so it still rings up as a snack credit. (They told mgmt about this, but no one had changed the programming, and they gave up asking.)
I don't expect it to be around next time I go, but I will check.

Yet another one here that thought the pretzels were gross  Had the sweet prezel filled with cinnamon apples at DHS at Herbie's Drive In. It was a tasteless card board mess. I hate to throw food away--but these went straight in the garbage.

Now it may not be the best monetary use of a snack credit, but we really enjoyed this:

Japan/Kaki Gori:
Kaki Gori $2.25 Shaved ice topped with fruit syrups: choice of strawberry, honeydew melon, tangerine, or rainbow (all three flavors)[/B]

Alot of posts of the DIS said these were really good. I thought it would be like your normal icee, but it's not. The shaved ice is actually a finer texture and the flavors are absolutely wonderful! GREAT choice on a hot day! :cloud9:
