Hi there,
I'm getting into planning mode now for our trip in Sept. and have a couple of questions for you.
Firstly is Potomac Mills an outlet mall or a regular one?
Second, we are staying in Crystal City DC and going to Roanoke next.
Is it feasible to drive to the start of the Blue Ridge Parkway from DC then down the length of it to Roanoke or are we trying to cram too much into 1 day and if so what would be good?
Thanks for your help,
Carol:Pinkbounc

Potomac Mills is a day trip in itself! And yes, it is an outlet mall. Stores like JC Penney, Spiegel, Saks (Off Saks) Liz Claiborne, Nautica, Ralph Lauren, Disney Outlet, Carter's (children's clothes) L.L. Bean, Books-A-Million, Daffy's, etc, etc, etc!

There is also a HUGE brand new Ikea.

I'd break it up into two days if you are big shoppers!

Hmmm...from Crystal City to Roanoke is quite a hike, but doable. You will have to push though. Some beautiful places to stay between DC and Roanoke along the route you are speaking of are Charlottesville, Lexington, Staunton and Waynesboro to name a few. Not sure if you are looking for intimate "bread and breakfast" type accomodations or a bigger chain motel. Hope this helps some! PM me if you have other questions!! Enjoy your trip!!!

What cracks me up about Potomac Mills is that they bring tour buses into that place.

It's about 10 minutes from my home, spoils you in nothing flat.

Potomac Mills is about 20 miles south of DC, right off I-95 (it has its own well-marked exit), right after you pass into Prince William County. It's huge! Also, just about every American chain store is located around the mall: Best Buy, Wal-mart, Sams, Lowes, Borders, etc. It's a true shoppers paradise. DH avoids it like the plague, except for Lowes (power tools and all).

They have a website:
