Just wondering whether we need to buy sandwiches before we leave or is the food onboard affordable?

Well that depends.. In the departure lounge where you wait for the train to come in there are a few counters you can buy food in. We usualy have a bite there while waiting for the train to arrive (this is at ashford international). This negates the need to buy food onboard as it's only a 2 1/2 hr journey. However we did travel leisure select on the way back from our last trip and the food was very good. I would expect the food prices on-board to be not too steep but i wouldn't expect competitive prices.

If you do want to buy food on board (which is expensive but not extortionate) buy it early on, they tend to run out of everything.

Thanks for the advice. I will take some sandwiches I think because by the time we check-in at the hotel at disney, etc I think my ds will be starving lol.

If leaving from St Pancras there is an M&S Simply Food before you go through the Eurostar Check in, my friend and I always fill our bags with goodies from there to eat on the train and then we just buy hot drinks on board, we think it is a nicer selection of food and cheaper too!! Although I am partial to the Milka MJoy milk choc bars that are sold onboard the train!! Yummy!!
