My 14 yr old DD had some routine tests on Monday. they called yesterday and said her urine test came back positive. Positive for what? I was in such a tizzy I didnt ask. I have a call into the clinic now, but otherwise we have to go back to the lab today at 2:30. any ideas what they could be looking for?

Perhaps they just mean it was positive for a urinary tract infection.

I agree that it's probably just a UTI. Since they're calling her back, they may not have done a "clean catch" sample and want to do one before they give her antibiotics. Samples for UTIs have to be done a certain way so that bacteria that isn't actually in your urinary tract doesn't skew the results.

Can you have a UTI without any other symptoms?

I had a postive test once on a routine physical (it said I had blood in my urine) but when I went back to get the "clean" test it was negative. Did she have her period when the test was done, that's the first thing the doctor asked me. I was all upset too, but it turned out to be nothing. Hope all goes well!
