Anyone else get the contract letter from OKW

No, no letter here. We declined extending during the original offer.

Yes I got the letter also--I declined it last time. I still had to get it notarized again with 2 witnesses signature.

So is this some sort of letter/document...or are you having to sign new deeds, again? Our mail is always several days later on our rural route.

We signed our 4 OKW deeds over the first time, and they are recorded and showing on the Orange County site.

We recieved a call from someone at MS a couple of days ago wanting to know if we wanted to extend our first contract. We said that we did not and then she said we would recieve a letter in the mail to sign stating that fact. I thought it was sort of weird as to why it was a question.

Yes, we got the letter and I was none too pleased. I promptly called DVC as I sat by the lithograph we'd received 2 years ago for answering their request about the extension. We'd said "No" to the extension, but the lithographs were sent for answering, not for answering "Yes". Well, the explanation that we received this time was that the lithograph had been sent in error (!), and they maintain they have no record of our having responded. And like a naive person, once we received the lithograph, I threw away any records, figuring the issue was done with. And since the person who originally notarized our documents was DH's secretary, who has since been laid off, we're stuck with doing this AGAIN. Wonderful(Not!) Disney IT.

My guess is that if you don't respond you will get a bill for the extension cost. This is one of those deals where if you don't specifically decline it in writting and notorized, you must accept an pay. We declined our two contracts right away and did so while we were at WDW. It was so easy that way, and we KNEW it would be recorded, since they were the ones who notarized it.

I'm not sure if it is currently $20 or $25 per point. $25 was approved at the association meeting, but it was discounted to $15 if you extended right away, then it went to $20. I don't know if it bumped up to $25.

We did the same thing and I'm still irritated about the entire experience. When I bought at OKW, I specifically asked my guide why my points expire in 2042 and what will happen to OKW at that time. She said it will probably be torn down. While I was skeptical about that, she really had to work at it to get me to purchase. I just hate the fact that they are charging members for the extension. It's just clearly a way to grab more cash from us.

I'm still very happy with our purchase though and will enjoy staying at OKW for 32 more years.

Why is this such a pain?

If it's the notary...we went to Wells Fargo, asked for a notary. We don't bank with them at WOULD NOT bank with them due to past experiences, but they let us use a notary for no fee, when signing our original paperwork. It was during the time that Wamu was becoming Chase, and Wamu (our bank) refused to notarize anything b/c it had "mortgage" on it, which is why we sought out WF, but they do "keep" notaries on hand for signing things for their customers!

And MIL used a notary's services, again for no cost, at BOA for some things she had to deal with as well. We've never had a problem getting a notary's services for free when we have needed it.

So get it signed and send it in! Just don't understand the problem... (and am trying to help, if it's the annoyance of perceived cost of a notary that's the problem)

I got the letter, too, since I ignored the whole thing the first time 'round.

The letter does offer to let me purchase my extension for the full $25. I didn't need it at $15, and I certainly don't need it for ten bucks more.

Luckily, all the secretaries at school are notaries, so I won't cost me anything to get it done now.

Didn't receive it either and hopefully we will not since we declined last time and did the paperwork, etc. If you are a AAA member, they offer complimentary notary services.

Same here. I called to find out what the current cost is and, in the event I pass away and, should my heirs decide that they would like to extend, what would happen. I was told the cost is now $25 per point and, when the paperwork is turned in declining the offer it is irreversible. Since we have 400 pts we'd rather spend the $10,000 on an add-on or another contract rather than an extension that we won't be around to enjoy.
