I will start our TR, but will take it slow so I can enjoy it all again :goodvibes. We had a wonderful time, and I have posted a few pictures of our favorite crew members on a thread about favorites. Our cast is as follows: me, DH49, DS26, DDIL22, DD24, DS21, DDIL21, DD18, DS16, DS8. We worked on this trip for a year and a half. Our DD24 gave this trip to us as a 30th wedding anniversary present.......she's our favorite :rotfl: . We had originally planned on driving to Nashville and flying Southwest to Orlando. As the time approached to buy the tickets, my DH and I began to get other ideas. Our family has always loved road trips, and we asked who would want to rent a bigger van (ours is just a 12 passenger with seats for 8 and room for luggage) and drive. All but DS21 and DDIL21 wanted to do that. So we called around and got a good deal on a 15 passenger, got the extra seat taken out for luggage, had seats for 10 and room for luggage. DS21 and DDIL21 flew out of Nashville and we picked them up in Orlando and drove to the port on 2-19-2010. We left home about 7ish that morning and took a slight detour. DS26 and DDIL22, who spent the night at our home the night before, had left a pair of pants at home. We drove through their town and it wasn't more than a 25 minute detour of our planned route....so no biggie. Our 2 married sons and wives live in a town about an hour away from our home, but had decided to spend the night for fun....and we are closer to Nashville :goodvibes. DS8 was beyond thrilled to have his whole family together....as was I :goodvibes.
So...another storyline is our hotel choice. I was pretty set on the Hyatt at the airport. Even when we decided to drive, I kind of thought we'd just all meet there and crash. DS21 suggested going on to the port...and that's what we did. I got CIS off priceline for 50..00/room. I got 3 rooms for the 10 of us....and it was PERFECT!!! We ended up with 3 kidsuites...that's what they tend to give to priceliners....but when we checked in I asked if one room could not be switched to a regular 2 queen room. They obliged me and were the epitome of wonderful service.
Our drive was uneventful. We saw tons of State Troopers.....tons. We ate at Chick-Fil-A because....well because we just have to :goodvibes. 2 of my children have worked there and they may get tired of it, but the rest of us don't. And we outnumber them . The flight of the 2 noncompliant children was delayed and they got to the airport at 8ish instead of 6ish. But we were ok....we killed some time on potty breaks, and then just circled through passenger pick-up several times until they came ou the SW door :yay:. We were all hungry but as we left the airport we kind of missed food places until we got to the port. I had read there were food places at the port so we did not panic but we were hungry. We drove to Kelsey's, a GREAT pizza place, placed an order, drove to our hotel, checked into our fabulous rooms and DH went to pick up our delish pizza. Honestly, it was the best pizza ever :worship: . I can answer any questions about the rooms at CIS. I found out while checking in that the park and cruise program is now free at CIS. Can we all say :yay: ? They said they would have a shuttle for the 10 of us at 10 am. We were told to meet in the lobby with our luggage at 9:45 ish. We did, and it all went like a dream. We probably got to the port a little later (like 20 minutes later) than I was hoping for but I am not complaining. Jessica set up the shuttle for us on the spot that night. Prior to me checking in, the earliest shuttle scheduled was 10:30 and it was full. So, she thrilled us by getting us a shuttle at 10. Our shuttle driver was Crystal and she was so kind and helpful. She informed us that CIS was the only hotel that had their own shuttle. The rest of the hotels share shuttle services. It was a 5 minute drive to the port.
So.....DH's turn to contribute to this TR by helping me post pics of the room, the shuttle, and of our lovely tyedyed tees :).

Your family is adorable. I can not wait to hear more.
Question regarding CIS bunkbed suite, how big is the twin bed that is in the room with the bunkbed?
We have 25 days.
....thanks for sharing:thumbsup2

@bbnn1122...thanks, and the twin bed in the bunk room is just like the bottom bunk. It's just a twin....but comfortable, nice mattress and all. Our DS16 slept in it...or the bottom bunk, and he's 6'4'' and 200 lbs. Of course, no one's picky on such a fabulous trip :). I can't express how happy we were with the CIS. It was just the perfect choice for us.

There is a youtube on tiedying Mickey tees. It is very easy to follow. There is also a thread on these boards in the creative DISigns forum. We all got together the weekend before our cruise and us girls made them. It was soooo much fun. The thread is great with lots of beautiful designs :).
Really, your tees are beautiful. You did a great job with them. Can't wait to read more about your cruise.

Good to hear about the bed, because my DS 16 and 6"6 will be in that bed.
My other DS's 10 and 12 I know will love the bunkbeds.
Thanks for getting back to me. I forgot I had asked the question.:)

Thanks everyone for your sweet comments and words of encouragement. We had baseball all weekend and I was busy at the ball park :goodvibes. It is still chilly here in Alabama, so we appreciate the lovely cruise even more.
I believe I left off as we pulled into the port in our shuttle. Again, Crystal was wonderful! And we were met by a porter to collect our luggage. He was quick and efficient, and I feel like maybe I didn't tip quite enough, but I was still a little unused to it all. As we were entering a woman was waiting with her children for their post-cruise pickup. She told us we would have such a wonderful time! I said, "I don't want to be you next week!" We went through security to enter the port with no problems. As we stood in line to go through security I started to cry because I was so overcome with excitement! My DS16 brought his rather large pocket knife without realizing he would be going through security, and we had to fill out paperwork and leave it with the security team. It was no problem, and they were very nice :thumbsup2.
When we went up the escalator a cast member offered to take our family's picture in front of the model ship. She liked our tie-dye shirts! We went to check in. 6 of us had passports, and 4 didn't. It was an easy check in and we got boarding pass #4. When we checked in we were given our Castaway Club member lanyards. We used them all week! We then went to the lines for photo check in. It moved through quickly. We looked around the terminal, then we found seats in the waiting area and read and waited excitedly! Eventually it dawned on us to step outside and check out the ship and luggage loading process. DH and DS8 spotted our luggage being loaded on the ship in a pallet. We saw Mickey and Minnie in their nautical gear and got in line for some pictures with them! Before we knew it they were loading the ship :yay:!
We boarded, and they announced the Nelson family in the atrium :cloud9:. We headed straight to Topsiders! It was yummy, and we got there before the crowd hit. We had no problem finding seats. We wandered around the ship to get acclimated. The rooms were ready in no time. We met our room steward Edgar. DS26 and DDIL22 had a different room steward, which made it a little tricky at tip time. Our bags were delivered to our rooms in shifts. But we eventually got them all. We unpacked, and toured a little more. The boys tried to play a little football in the netted sports area. On the kickoff, DS16 accidentally found the one hole in the net, and kicked the football through and off the ship :scared1:. We saw a Disney employee at the port find the football and pick it up. We’ll never know if he figured out where it came from! Then it was time for the lifeboat drill.
We got distracted looking around and being excited and were a little late to the first show :scared1:. It was called " All Aboard: Let the Magic Begin." Of course, it was delightful. Alfred and Seymour (a comic duo) did a small intro to get everyone excited for their full performance the next night. Our favorite part was the end when the Disney Magic Performers and Lumiere sung a montage of “Be our Guest” to prepare us for dinner!
We had the late dinner seating and it really worked well for our family. I don't think we could have been ready for dinners at the early seating. After the show, we all headed to Studio Sea for Mickey Mania :). DS8 and I were picked to play and it was such fun. It was our first meeting with Lousia, and we all fell in love with her. She is a delightful young lady and such a great hostess. DS8 was NOT happy to lose . He struggles with that. But after that we were off to dinner....no time to mope ;).
We ate at Parrot Cay for our first dinner and met our most excellent servers Pairoj and Richard. I am sorry for those who had other servers, because I am sure ours were the BEST :woohoo:. Dinner was great. We did take pictures of some of our menus, but not this night. We were still new and not organized. Richard was our assistant server and got our drink orders and had them ready each night after that. The theme was Island Dinner. We ordered lots of different things from chicken to steak to seafood. Choosing a dessert was our favorite part! It was nice that they always offered a trio…a small selection of three of the desserts on the menu.
After dinner we were off to Studio Sea again! We decided to be brave and try the Disney karaoke. Last time we went 10 years ago we watched one evening and always remembered it as being fun. Believe me when I say, we are not singers!! But…we love Disney tunes and know every word to almost every song, so we couldn’t resist. DS8 was first to sing and he chose “Son of Man” from Tarzan. Then DS26, DD24, DD18, and DS16 sung “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” from Carousel of Progress at DD24’s request (her favorite ride in Disney World). I raised them right :goodvibes. Neville and Louisa got a kick out of the song choice. Later DD24 and DD18 played a large trick on their father. They signed him up to sing “Come Clean” by Hillary Duff. He obliged, and DD18 sang it with him for moral support. The crowd loved it, and one dad in the audience even told him later that it gave him the courage to get up there:). To close the night off DD18 and DS21 sang “A Whole New World” with a little cameo from DS26 for the bird squawk (you die hard Disney music fans will know what I mean). After karaoke was over we all retired for the night since it was late and we had many days ahead! No sea sickness yet :thumbsup2.

Funny about the football going overboard. I'm guessing they've seen it all at the ports, though. ;)
Sounds like day one was awesome for all of you. And no seasickness, yay! (BTW, were you taking anything for seasickness or waiting to see how you did?)

You know...I didn't think about that. I bet they find footballs quite often.
And, no I didn't take anything for sea sickness at that time. I bought wristbands and never used them. I have trouble driving the day after I take NyQuil so I was hesitant to take any meds. I did finally take Bonine one evening....formal night. On our formal night we were sailing from Cozumel to Nassau. The seas were rough, and I was pretty miserable until I took the Bonine. The last time we cruised in 2000, I was terribly sick the first night. That cruise we went straight to Nassau and so I think it was rougher than just sailing to Key West like we did on this Western.
Oh...I forgot to add that CIS = Country Inn & Suites :goodvibes. Someone asked and I forgot to respond.

Today, our first full day on The Magic, was DD23 birthday, and she turned 24 :bday:. I will tell more about our dinner celebration later. It was a great day.
So, I forgot to say DD18 and I signed up for SPA treatments the day we boarded. We did that at Rockin Bar D and it went fairly well. The CM in charge of sign ups was not doing a good job of directing people coming in to sign up because she was in a long conversation with someone (looked like a friend or family member on the cruise). It was ok, but a fellow cruiser kind of got stuck directing newcomers where the line ended because the CM was not paying attention, and I felt bad for the lady. You could tell she did not want to boss people around, but someone kind of had to do it. We signed up for our treatments, plus one for DH. DD18 and I signed up for ours for the day at Key West. We weren’t docking until noonish so it gave us time to go to the SPA and still get off the boat with plenty of time to tour.
The services were wonderful, and it would be nice to do them at home sometimes….but I’m not complaining :). It is nice to be able to indulge on the cruise. DD18 and I both got men and we were a little nervous and uncomfortable. But, that’s just us and I understand it does not bother everyone. I wonder if you can request. I’d be happy to answer any questions about the treatments we chose if anyone needs help. Anyway….we finished and went back to the cabins to meet everyone else for lunch.
I believe we ate on deck that day and it was a lovely day and the burgers and fries were delish. The married kiddos headed on to Key West and the rest of us took our time. When we got off the ship we passed the little huts that rent golf carts, scooters and bicycles. We got prices, but decided that we would just walk. That did not last long :rotfl2:. We all enjoy walking, but 6-10 people who don’t know where they are going is not a good idea. So we went back to the “huts” and rented two 4 passenger golf carts because they were all out of 6 passenger carts. We rode in a golf cart to the rental place, signed the paper work, and were off to tour. It was drizzling by then, and it was chilly. It really “spit” the whole time we were driving, but it was still pleasant. We saw Hemingway’s home, and went to The Southern Most Point to take pictures. We saw the train or tram that rides along and it looked nice, we just like the idea of driving ourselves and stopping where we wanted. We also went to CVS. I needed toothpaste and vicks. I wish I had thought to pick up several pairs of reading glasses because I lost mine shortly thereafter and never found them at the lost and found. I can’t read a thing without them, and was annoyed. I mean, you can buy them on DCL….they are only 40.00 . But, I digress.
We headed back to the ship because we were all very excited about the show that night….Alfred and Seymore. They were sooooo funny the night before in their intro. The ship did not depart that night until after midnight. Some CMs told me it was to give the crew some extra time off the ship. I liked it because it meant sleeping most of the sailing time and helping me avoid sea sickness :goodvibes.
So, I will close now and get DH to help me post some pictures of Key West just a little later. I will continue with the show that evening, and our dinner and after dinner activites. It is such fun to re-live it all and share with people who love it as much as we do :goodvibes.

Great report so far 84disney!! Looking forward to more!
I have to again agree with you about Louisa. She was outstanding during our cruise in January. I think/hope we will start seeing her name more and more in peoples reports. Talking with her then she is loving what she is doing. I don't know about her long term goals but I could see her becoming a CDA or CD in the not too distant future.

Well….I am back with more trip report. We had a wedding this past weekend and lots of baseball these last few weeks. I must admit we have been looking into another cruise on the new ship. We are figuring up who can contribute what amount :rotfl2:.
We got back on the ship with no line or problems. The ship stayed at Key West that night until 1 am. Our server told us they do that ever so often for the cruise staff. I was glad because we sailed after I had hit the sack and to me it meant less time awake while the ship was sailing. I was worried about sea-sickness. I took DS8 down to the lobby to see Lilo and Stitch and met an awesome young man who was in charge of the character line. His name is David and he was such a pleasure to chat with. I asked him about his job, thinking he was a character escort, and found out he was a performer. He said to look for him in Twice Charmed and Once Upon A song. But He would not tell me who he was in the shows. It was such fun to me to talk to the different staff members and hear their stories. He said he was hired for Villains, had just finished rehearsals in Ontario and this was his first week on board. It was exciting for me to see how much fun he was having working his dream. He was delightful and there is more of him and his sweetness later in my trip report .
We all got ready for the show and dinner. The show was hilarious :rotfl:. It was Alfred and Seymore. We had seen them briefly the night before. It was a dance/comedy routine and was very funny to us. After the show we went to Studio Sea to play Who Wants To Be A Mouskateer? None of our group was picked but we enjoyed watching. The hostess was really good. It wasn’t Louisa, but she was nice. After watching, we headed to dinner at Lumiere’s. It was a French dinner….and DD24’s birthday dinner celebrationparty: . I had mentioned to Yolande, our head waiter, that DD would be celebrating her day and she said she would indeed have a cake sent to the table. Pairoj also helped and double checked all the details. The food was delish. We always enjoyed the bread and whatever dip accompanied it. Richard always had our drinks ready and refilled without ever having to ask. We took pictures of some of our menus, but I think we didn’t have the hang of it yet this evening. I will post the one’s we took. Next cruise….pictures of all menus and more of our food. After dinner…..the cake arrived. It was beautiful and we ate it….and our desserts from the menu. I am so ashamed:blush:. Pairoj wrapped the left over cake in foil and delivered it to DD. He handed it to her and said….It’s Louis Vuitton. So cute .
After dinner we went to Studio Sea again and watched some karaoke and sang a little, too. We walked around a bit to walk off dinner and saw some “one hit wonders” meaning, we met some of the crew dressed up as singers who were one hit wonders. The staff was rounding up a crowd for a party in Rockin’ Bar D called One Hit Wonders. It was funny to guess some of them. It looked fun, but we were ready for bed so we wished them well and headed to our cabins.
I will get DH to help post pictures later this evening, and I will write more tomorrow on our day at sea and our formal night….and sea sickness.

We were on the same cruise and I remember seeing all the t shirts at the terminal!!! We were also on deck when the football went over and watched the guy get it. I think he was thinking about trying to kick it back!!!
Alfred and Seymour were fantastic and everyone, if you get the chance, do go and see them. Great fun and loads of laughs.

Sorry I've dropped the ball with the TR, but I'm going to attempt to finish it out with a bang!
Monday, the 22nd, was our day at sea. We all ate together at Topsiders breakfast buffet. We loved that they had Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast each morning! It was a sort of cloudy rainy day, so we didn't do much swimming, we went out on deck when we could catch the sun, but it never lasted long. DH, DS8, and I went to the lounge to play Pictionary. It was fun, and there were some real good players there. We did not fare well, but don't worry....we made up for it later in the week with some serious trivia game wins :rotfl:.
Before stuffing our faces again with lunch, we decided to check out the exercise room. DS16 really wanted to work out, as he was missing his P90X :confused3. Alas, they spotted him and he had to leave. I was there with him, but he was not allowed to stay. He brought the book to the P90X workouts, and just did some of the workouts in the stateroom. I know some may not agree with me, but I think they should work something out in the weight room for some of the younger cruisers that want to keep up with their workout routines while vacationing. DD24 and I ran on the treadmills at the front of the room, and the seas were rough. Both of us struggled. I was mildly sick the rest of the day, and was really bad off that evening. DD24 thinks hers may have been more of vertigo problem, but it definitely affected her.
We ate lunch on the pool deck....in the partly sunny warm air. We always enjoyed the offerings, but we like burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and fries:goodvibes. They had wonderful healthy options also....we just did not eat as much of those :rotfl:. We did enjoy the soft serve ice cream.
After lunch we found something for ALL of us. It was a game called "So You Think You Know Your Family?" It was modeled after the Newlywed Game. DS8 and I were chosen from the crowd to be one of the 3 teams (each team had a parent and a child) :yay:. The kiddos went back to a sound proof room first and we parents answered questions. We were asked about best friends, favorite foods, and least favorite subjects in school. We were reunited and we saw how we matched up. Next, us parents went to the sound proof room while the kiddos answered questions. We were chatting and heard the room errupt with laughter. I said...."wow, someone just told a funny story." I think we all hoped it wasn't our child telling on us :scared1:. We reunited, and compared notes. Guess whose kiddo told the funny? They asked the children what was something they thought they had gotten away with that their parent still did not know about. I guessed eating a cookie or a piece of candy. They game show host was grinning from ear to ear and said..."Well, no. Andrew said he had a stain on his shirt one day, and you asked him if it was marker or crayon. He told you it was, but it was really......boogars . The room errupted again. A couple of times after that, people would jokingly ask him..."What's that on your shirt, Andrew?" He loved it.
We went back to our staterooms, did a little laundry :laundy: . It was right down our hall way. I liked that....as laundry is one of my hobbies :thumbsup2. It was formal night and the show was Twice Charmed. It was really, really, good. Some of us were struggling with sea sickness, but the show was a wonderful distraction. We had fun dressing up, but it was work......kind of like a wedding :goodvibes. We would still do that again, as it just added to the fun for us. Dinner was at Animator's Palate. It was so good. Again, our servers, Pairoj and Richard were wonderful. I was really struggling by this time, and Pairoj could tell. He would talk softly and pat my shoulder. DDIL22 offerred me a bonine tablet, and I took one. I was nervous it would make me sleepy but it did not. DD24 and I had to leave dinner just a little early, but after about an hour I was able to join the rest of the family at Studio Sea for singing. DD24 stayed in the room and slept. We are not singers....by any means, but we had fun. And there were some really talented singers to balance our acts out ;) .
We all hit the hay after the singing partay :woohoo: so we could be ready for Cozumel the next morning. We had plans for a jeep excursion and were all really excited for it.
When DH gets done mowing.....I will ask him nicely to help me post some pictures. Thanks for hanging in here with me and DD24 as we move along. It is making me sad.....we had such fun :) .
