With 2 adults is the Quick Service Dinning plan worth it? We do not want to waste time sitting in resturants. Would we save much money or would it be around the same to pay as we go

It probably depends on what your eating habits are... It will likely save you money if you're ordering "snacks" instead of a drink, and meals that cost more than $8 or so...

check out some of the dining menus above to see what you would order and add it up.

You get 2 quick service meals, 2 snacks & a refillable mug on the plan.

Would you get dessert at each CS if you were paying out of pocket? What kinds of meals would you be ordering? Some of the meals aren't as expensive, some are a great deal on the DDP (1/2 chicken and rib meal)? Would you be purching a refillable mug if you weren't on the DDP?

It really depends on what you would normally purchase if you weren't on the plan. We don't typically purchase desserts, but they come with the CS meals. If you don't usually order a soda or other drink with your meals, that's not a valuable add on.

I have purchased the QSDP for our April trip. I'm not really sure that we'll come out ahead, but I like the convenience of it. Also, I have no problem having two bites of a dessert and then tossing it. (Many people find that wasteful, but sometimes a taste is just perfect and I can live with the waste.) We are planning to dine at the nicer CS places that are on the higher price end.

The QSDP also includes the refillable mug. The other plans do not. We always purchase the mug whether or not we're doing a DDP.

We are DVC members and are using the quick service plan for the first time when we go this June.
If this helps you here is the list of participating restaurants I like the selections and I won't have to be eating hot dogs and hamburgers all the time on the plan. There are a lot of good choices.

We have used Quick Service as a family, but we probably wouldnt bother with it for hubby and I. The reason being you can have a dessert with each, and in that heat, its hard to really enjoy a rich piece of chocolate cake. We would rather split a meal, a soda, and save the money.

There is value in the QSDP, most counterservice meals for 2 adults will run about 25 dollars with tax included. That's 50 dollars for meals per day. since the QSDP only costs 30 dollars per day, you are ahead by 20 bucks. Even if you go the burger and fries route (ech!) your meals will still cost 40 bucks per day out of pocket (average cost of a burger and fries pre-tax is around 8 bucks) but does not include dessert! Then there are the snack credits! It will be a real challenge for you to use all these up. I would have left 10 unused snack credits on our trip if I did not learn that certan types of candy could be purchased from our resort gift shop with snack credits. 31 dollars worth of Wonka Bars and other assorted disney branded candy were purchased for these credits and brought home as gifts for family and friends. From my experience, It was too much food! Between my girl and I, it was so much food, that although we had ADR's for table service restaurants every night of our trip, we simply had to cancel all but 1 (Cindy's Royal Table) as we just did not have the appetite to go to any of our ADR's! Disney really tries to stuff you at their restaurants even the CS meals are very filling!

To work out whether the QS is worth it for you, I'd check out the menu and prices on this site.
http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm
The prices might be more expensive than that listed - I think they are from 2009.

I also checked out the snacks on this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2381706

My party consists of 2 adults and 1 child, who has a very healthy apetite. We decided to go on the QS. I figure we will have to share meals with our son but we would breakeven on snacks alone for him. For an adult to breakeven and assuming $4 per snack (inc tax), you would need to spend about $12 per CS meal. I don't particularly care for all the desserts, but will try to substitute for healthy options or a drink where I can.
I figure I'll be ahead if I want to eat at the following places:
Magic Kingdom - Columbia Harbour, Cosmic Rays, El Pirata y el Perico (if opened), Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station (if opened)
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons, Tangerine Cafe, Yorkshire Fish and Chips, Yakitori House
AK - Yak and Yeti, Pizzafari
HS - Pizza Planet, Starring Rolls
DD - WPE, Earl of Sandwich, Cookes of Dublin

Factoring in the point that the CS meals do come with a drink, if you were going OOP and assuming that you're buying a drink, you'd probably have to spend under about $8-9 for the meal, plus $3 for the drink to come out ahead.
I also wanted to go on the plan because it meant that we wouldn't need to think about limiting our son when he wanted a snack based on price....we just have to worry about fat and sugar content :)

The QS also comes with the refillable mug - which if we get a room close to the refill station - which will probably be pure cream. With getting a hot drink in the morning and at night, we'll probably come out slightly ahead based on drinks as well.

W and in that heat, its hard to really enjoy a rich piece of chocolate cake.

And from a practical standpoint, virtually impossible to eat an icecream in the heat and get more than a few bites into it before it collapses all over the place ....

If you do your homework you can have better meals using the QSDP. Places like WPE and Pepper Market are more along the lines of TS quality food. Last year our bill at WPE was $90 for 4 people and it's a CS that is included in the plan. Places like that make the QSDP a total bargan.

If absolute bottom line money savings is your plan, you can do better than the QSDP. BUT, if you want to eat what you want, when you want, if you like having things pre-paid so you don't have to worry, and if you like convenience, the QSDP is a great way to go. As many posters have noted, food at WDW is expensive at regular prices. When we went last year, I'm sure we would have agonized and "cheaped out" at every opportunity without the plan--not my idea of a fun vacation. The QSDP removes that layer of stress, and it's a good deal. You can do a little research and planning and realize a big savings over regular prices. We found almost every lunch and dinner we had would have been over $50.00 (for our family of four). The plan cost us $100.00 per day for the family, so 2 regular meals for us was already at the break-even point. Add breakfast, snacks, and most importantly, WATER or drinks while you are in the parks, and the QSDP becomes a clear winner. You could easily drop $20.00 out-of-pocket in the parks, and even a cheap breakfast at McDonalds will cost us $20.00, so I figure we were saving about $40.00 per day with the plan. Eat what you want and walk off those calories in the parks!
