Forgive me if this has been answered already, but what is the advantage of checking in early on-line? Is it just to get into a shorter line at the gate? Everyone here seems to say they spend the same amount of time when arriving. We have been to the fort numerous times and never had trouble checking in on the day of. Thanks

I can't speak to online checkin for campers, but I think one advantage for doing it for the cabins would be a better chance that your cabin would be ready for you when you get there, if you get there before checkin time. But, that's just my theory of the day.
I get to do online checkin tomorrow! :cool1::cool1:

NONE, at least if you have a campsite. We took just as long as everyone else and there was no advantage. Over the summer there was a different line for on-line check in folks and they were slower than the regular line. This time the lines were all the same except that there was an on-line sign by one of the counters so people started getting in that line instead of the regular line and a fight almost started with people in the regular line that said they were on-line people also. Then we were told that all windows are on-line check in. Very confusing. Now when we stayed at a hotel it was much better organized. Fort Wilderness just doesn't seem to have it together yet. If you do check in on-line, they will have your information in a packet already printed so that will save time once you get to a window but there is no special window.

Hmmm, the Advantage??
I would have to say for me it's just something to cure the insatiable anticipation of being one step closer to our visit to THE FORT!

Unless Disney decides to dedicate a lane to Online Checkin Only (and enforce it), the benefit will be negligible. They have set up a dedicated lane before, but then they directed (at least some) regular checkin guests to that lane.

No advantage for the cabins, either.
When we checked in, the regular check-in line was much faster than the on-line (the customer in front of me in the on-line check-in line was having a very bad day). I changed lines and got served faster.

:rotfl2:I used it last time and we still waited in the line more than 30 minutes. Apparently a "difficult" customer was in front of us. When it was our turn the CM said, have you been here before..."yes" then she practically tossed our paperwork at us and we were off - we were there about 10 minutes or less. I think if a person has issues they should just go inside to deal with their reservation.

Thank you everyone. We will be at the Fort Thursday morning for 4 days. I figured it was a waste of time unless they had dedicated lines at check in. Hope to see some dis memebers while we're there.:yay:

With on-line check in do you get to find out your site number when you check-in on-line?

No, you don't find that out until you get there.

We did this on our last arrival and it was good. Now we could have been lucky too. We checked in online 10days before and printed everything. We then got there around 10am and there was one person ahead of us. We then got a text message a little while later that our cabin was ready for us.

So basicly with online check-in you just have your reservation info printed out before you get there? Isn't that the same thing you get in a confirmation from Disney?

That's about the extent of it, your packet is preprinted and your credit card is already attached to your KTTW for charging if you want to do this. May save seconds waiting on the printer but that's about it.

you walk up say your name(show id) they grab your disney hotel pack with tickets and room key and you walk away. I found it wonderful and there was no line at all when i walked up, not even one person! and it took a second to show them id and you were gone. I will continue using on-line check in! My family loves it :)
