I am going to WDW in October and I have the GF booked for all 7 nts but the first 6 are garden view and all they had for the last night was lagoon view -- I call daily to see if GV opened up but so far no luck. If I could afford to upgrade the whole week to LV I would and I don't mind having 1 nt LV but I do not want the hassle of changing rooms for the last night of the trip. My question is do you guys think if a GV opens when I check in that they will let me switch my last night to GV and refund me the difference in price from a LV?? Or do you think I could just ask upon check in if I can stay in my room the full 7nts since I really don't want to switch and ask that the difference be refunded?? What do ya think??

I think if you explain it to the front desk, they'll let you stay in your GV room for all your nights, and they'll adjust your room rate on the last night to the GV rate. They probably have a room available in GV, just reservation office doesn't show it. They could always just upgrade someone staying 1 night in a GV to a LV. Everyone wins. ;)

That's what I thought -- they could upgrade someone if they want but I do want the difference back -- it's substantial -- if it was only like $20.00 or so I would tell them to let me stay and keep the difference but it's more like $80.00 plus tax.

After my last stay at the Grand Floridian, I have found the front desk staff to be so accommodating, it was amazing. Anything I asked them for, they made it possible. And, I, too, would want the difference back if I paid for a LV and got a GV - and I'm sure they'd give it to you. BTW, I do love the LV! I wouldn't say it is worth the price (GV is a really great savings! Plus there aren't any bad GVs), but the view truly is great.
Enjoy your trip! Let me know how it goes! ;)

I think a GV room will open up before you leave for your trip. People's plans do change. I'd advise calling back as often as you can to see if you can get that last night. You might try at the 5 day mark or any other cancellation windows to see if something opened up. Good luck!

Did you try the new codes to get discounts and maybe the lagoon view may not be so far out of reach for the whole stay? Did you get the new codes for your garden view at 239? I am not sure if there is lagoon view but it may be worth a call
