Below is our current team listing with your mileage to WDW. I will start subtracting from our totals soon, remember, we are trying to make it to WDW by fall, WE CAN DO IT!! Its suppose to be in the mid 70's this weekend for the Princess 1/2, I am so excited, I was worried it was going to be in the 20's with snow flurries again. Hope everyone is having a great Monday!!!

Hi goofs! I know, I never came back and gave you guys an update last month. We'll see what I can do tonight or tomorrow because in approximately 48 hours I'll be in Disney World!

Steve - Hope your daughter is feeling better! I wish I could get DH to do this with me. I felt lucky that he agreed to be in the cheering section for me for the 2011 Half!
Maura - I am going small...very small. Maybe just a Mickey head on my ankle or something.
Ashleigh - How long is your C25K program? I looked at so many of them online. Just curious which one you are following. I just finished week 3 as well, but my program is 28 weeks long and I am still on the walking phase. I start adding in running next week.
Kim - Good luck at the Princess Half! Hope you are feeling better by then!
I haven't posted for about a week or so because work has been crazy! My back is a ton better and I was able to get in good workouts Thurs, Sat, and Sun. I was down 3 more pounds when I checked this morning, making a total of 5! :cool1:
Feb mileage (or at least since I started tracking): 9.8
I am looking forward to being able to post higher mileage, but 1.5 in 30 min is really good for me right now. I can see my endurance and ability getting better each time, though, so I am confident I will get there!
I am starting back to Curves today. My new workout regimine will be Curves Mon, Wed, Fri and Walking/Running Tues, Thurs, and Sat. That leaves Sunday as a rest day, though I will probably get in a light walk anyway.

Sorry Gang for being MIA for so long. I have been having life taking over events! I started my new job which is so amazing! I am providing primary care to the homeless which is incredibly challenging. The nice aspect is I can spend as much time as I need to with each patient. I think I dealt with one person over two hours on Friday!
I have found my new workout- Bikram yoga! I am still feeling great from it and I took a class Sunday afternoon. For those who have not tried it yet it is a yoga class held in a room that is 105 degrees and 90 minutes long! Talk about sweating! Unfortunately I can probably only do it 2-3 times a week (I heard you were supposed to go every day....yeah, right!)
I will try and figure out miles. I have been doing lots of spin class, yoga, weights, fit camp, running so sure what to calculate in terms of miles (do I do just the actual miles?)
I did do the Half at the Hamptons- so sorry I missed you Angie- It would have been fun to run with you. I was so excited when Team Hoyt passed me! It was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed the course. Rye is so beautiful! Are you doing anymore of the "will run for beer series" Next up for me will be Great Bay in April. Hope to see you there!

Megan Have fun at the World. I am still sneaking peaks at the airfares to see if there is any way I can run away from home this weekend!
Jeanette I think having your own "Hidden Mickey" would be neat.
Joanne Glad your new job is working out well. It seems there are as many flavors of yoga as there are ice cream. I don't think my gym offers that one--but I would die of the heat anyway, so I don't think I'd be up for it.
To everyone else Thanks for each and every mile you achieved in February. And never think that "it's not enough/very much". We all are on our own fitness paths, however long or short they are.
Just got back from "if it's Tuesday it must be speed work and yoga". A challenging workout of intervals (200, 400, 600, 800, 800, 600, 400, 200) which I managed to get through. Yeah! Something is definitely going on in my left knee--feels like minor ligament strains, maybe? Anyway, I think that my leg weight training will need to be modified for a while. It's the only thing different that I am doing, so I am hoping that is the cause of the problem.
We may see upper 30's today....maybe spring will come soon?

Maura beat me to it, but I was planning on saying the exact same thing. Remember too that a couple of us are training for triathlons or marathons, and that does kind of screw the numbers a bit.
Plus, I cheat. ;) I run every day, so even 2-3 miles per day adds up pretty quickly.

Good evening Goofs! 4 days till the Princess 1/2!! While I am not looking forward to running the same course as the January 1/2, I am excited to cross the finish line and get my medal!! Hoping for warmer weather, anything will be better than January. As of right now, its suppose to be in the mid 40's at the start and in the upper 50's/low 60's when I finish. Its a heat wave!!!
Maura...while looking through the February thread for miles, I saw that I missed your question about going into the parks. We rarely go, maybe a few times a year for a couple of hours and thats it. We get in for free and can sign family in for free also but the last place I want to go on my days off are into the parks!
Joanne...the yoga class in the heat sounds interesting but I don't think I could do that everyday either.
Megan...maybe I'll see you at the start line!
Jeanette...how do you like Curves?
Everyone...as Maura and Rich have stated, EVERY mile counts and you should be proud of each one whether you did 5 or 500 for the month!!:yay: And don't forget, if you do a 5K, 10K, etc, count your miles as double!!!!
Here's what I have so far for February...
Kim 55.28
Maura 105
Rich 143.73
Steve 171.3
Todd 33
Angie 41.1
Lauren 48
Jeanette 9.8
Cindy 96.45
Suzanne 96.35
15204 - 800.01 = 14403.99 to go!!!

And as another reminder - yoga, weights, etc all count as one mile for every fifteen minutes, so don't forget to include those!
Personally, I would rather run for an hour than do yoga for half that time. It's easier to do the run. :)

Good Morning Goofs.
Suzanne: The weather for the princess sounds wonderful. Enjoy!!
Rich: You're not cheating, you're earning everyone of those miles. I cannot believe you can run every day(I'm sure you do, I'm not questioning that, just amazed). That is very impressive.
Maura: Hope the knee is feeling better. Enjoy your warmer temps.
Joanne: I'm glad you like your new job. It's great to find something you can be passionate about and I'm sure you're making positive effects in people's lives. Glad you had a good race in Hampton.
Roselark: Congrats on losing 5 lbs. That's terrific. You seem to have a reasonable plan. Good luck sticking with it.
I made it outside for my run yesterday despite the forecast of rain and snow. I had just about talked myself out of going when I looked out the window and it wasn't at that moment raining or snowing. I decided I'd rather run outside than have to get on the TM later in the day so I headed out. It was cold and windy, but no rain or snow for the whole time I was out there. I think I was going a little slower than I was supposed to be, the plan called for 5 miles at 1/2 mar pace, but I think my legs were still tired from my LR on Monday. My Garmin kept losing the satellite, so I'm not sure what pace I did. It didn't really matter because it felt like such a psychological victory just getting out there. I hit the snooze button several time and didn't get up for a workout this morning. Maybe next time.
Have a great day Goofs.

I had totally forgotten about the "miles for other minutes". So you can add 55 more miles--from the yoga and weight training that I have been doing.

Time to go run....

Hey Goofs. I'm sorry I have nothing to add for February. :sad2:
Started a new program on Monday. Starting fresh and trying to build a new base before my actual marathon training starts this summer.
Apparently, your body doesn't like you taking off so much time... :lmao:
It was slow, but I got it done. Ironically, I have caught a cold for my first week back into the game. Go figure! :rolleyes1
Hope everyone has a great weekend. We have tickets to Alice in IMAX 3D for my daughter's birthday. Going to Mellow Mushroom for pizza after. Should be fun!

Hey Goofs! I have been pretty busy with my grad class that I am taking...my midterm is due on Monday, so I have been working on that. I am trying to break away from my habbit of procrastinating all the time and am trying not to leave it all until the last minute on Sunday evening. I think I am off to a good start, but it is seriously cutting into my DIS time! :sad2: Whose bright idea was it to start working towards my masters just after having a baby:confused3 Oh, well...
I did want to check in and give my mileage for February. In February I ran/walked 22 miles. It is supposed to get into the 40's here this weekend! I am so excited! I would love to get outside for a run, but I will have to see what kind of progress I have made on my midterm and if I really need a break!

Just a quick post before I head to bed for the night. Work has been crazy and I started a photography class at a local camera shop. Add that to my new workout regimen and I feel like I am going non-stop until I hit the pillow. This is good though; my sleep quality has much improved, even with my added soreness from Curves.
Suzanne - I love Curves. First, I love that it is all women; this really helps me to feel more comfortable. Second, I always had a hard time at the gym knowing what machines to use, when to use them, and then I inevitably would have to wait for one of the machines I needed to become free. With Curves, everything is laid out for me, I do everything in the circuit in order, and I do the circuit twice. Everyone changes places at the same time, so no waiting for a machine. Also, there are women of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds. I am average for a change...not the oldest or youngest, not the most overweight, not the worst dressed, etc. Finally, The machines use hydraulic resistance which increases when you increase the speed of the reps; this makes them really easy to use. I was concerned about eventually "outgrowing" the machines to the point they would not be challenging, however, there is a college girl (she is on one of the college sport teams, but I forget which one) and she says she still prefers Curves over the weight room at school. She has a beautifully lean and defined body, and if she still gets a challenge from them, then I will be able to for quite some time to come :worship:

14403.99 - 77 = 14326.99 to go!!
I was hoping for 80 degrees on Sunday for the Princess 1/2 but there was ice on my car again this morning so it looks like layers, layers, layers. Maybe this time I will actually toss my throwaway sweatshirt instead of wearing it until the end!!

Good mornin' Goofs. Counting the 15 min. = 1 mile for crosstraining, I can contribute 27 miles for February.
Training will start ramping up in March. My 16-week tri training plan kicks in next week. If nothing else, the potential of drowning in the Potomac in September is motivating. :)
Big weekend around here - DS11's travel hockey team won their division (1997 & 1998) for the regular season. The playoffs are this weekend and they are the #1 seed. If they win tonight, we'll be camped out in a hotel for the championship game tomorrow morning. If they don't win tonight, it will be a long, sad drive home.

Oy, I forgot - GOOD LUCK SUZANNE!
DS team did, indeed, rock this year. I just hope they can pull off winning the playoffs. DS11 has been so close so many times. This is his 5th year of full-ice hockey. The kid has played, and lost, 3 season-end championship games. I know how it feels - about 90% of the figure skating medals I won as a kid were silver!

Happy Sunday everyone....
Shan Glad to see that you're getting back out there. Hope your training is going well. I hear you about taking time off--I took a few weeks off and felt like I was starting from scratch. But you'll get back to feeling good, don't worry!
Ashleigh Good luck with your studies. I know what it's like. After my second was born, I took time off to go back to school and finish my MBA. So it was raise two kids under 2-1/2 by day, and take classes at night. It was actually one of the most fulfilling things I think I've done. You'll make it through.
Jeannete Looking forward to seeing you post some of your camera class output!
M What tri plan are you using? I need to go find a new one suited for Olympic distance--not that I've committed to any specific race yet, but I need to integrate that with the running plan I have now and create some funky hybrid. I did it last year and it seemed to work out.
Got out for 9 miles today on a sunny day. Temp may only have been in 30's or 40-ish, but with the sun it felt warm. I could have run in shorts!
Now to go grocery shopping and then tonight it's the Oscars.

Hey Goofs,
Hope everyone is doing well today. I need to read old posts for proper cheers and good luck wishes. As for me, I am on the injured list (still ran today, but bagged it after less than 2.5 miles), and need rest - but have an extra kid over, and DW is out looking for stuff for a home improvement project, so no rest for this weary SAHD.

Maura - I found a reasonable looking free tri plan on the Internet. It is on my work computer, so I'll have to get back to you on where I got it.
I have a similar grad school story. My kids are 21 months apart and I was a SAHM for 4 year. When I decided to go to grad school they were 2 and 4. I went full-time for 2 years, and taught freshman classes, so I could graduate before DH's job moved us again. I still ttried to be home with them as much as I could so they weren't in FT day care. Those two years are a blur!

Good afternoon Goofs! I think Spring is finally here in Florida, I have flowers budding in the front yard and 80 degree weather for the next couple of days!
I did the Princess 1/2 on Sunday with 3 coworkers. It was their first 1/2 and two of them told me I was the reason they were there!! I am still really sore today and need to get new shoes as soon as possible. It was chilly at the start, in the lower 40's I think, but nothing like January. I was in corral C which was exciting as I am always in the last corral, it felt great to start and hear fireworks behind me two more times!! I jogged the first mile without a walk break which is big for me. Throwaway sweatshirt came off in the Magic Kingdom parking lot but kept the gloves. In the past two January 1/2's when I exited the Magic Kingdom and it was one lane past the Grand and Poly, it was always wall to wall people and no room to jog but not this race. There was room to jog when I wanted and never a backup of people. I shaved alittle more than 5 minutes off my time from January and almost 10 minutes off my time from last January. As long as I finish and keep getting better, I am happy!! Deciding if I want to skip the January 1/2 and do the Princess again instead???!!!
Hope everyone is having a great week and staying injury free.

Congrats Suzanne! You look so happy and your hair looks fabulous! I always look like such a wreck in race pictures. I'm convinced that races are contagious, especially Disney races. First year we went, only DH ran. My BFF was with us on that trip and decided to run the following year. My first was this year. Next year my BIL is joining us, so we're up to 4 people in 4 years.
I swam 750 meters last night, not impressive, but I haven't been swimming for months, so it is a start.

Good Morning Goofs.
Suzanne: I too was thinking you looked fabulous in your pics. I thought maybe you were 0.1 mile into the race, not 0.1 mile from the finish. Great job on taking so much time off from your January race. Very impressive. I'm glad Spring has arrived for you. I keep waiting....
M: Congrats to your son. I love his huge smile and such nice plaques.
Todd: I hope your nice weather is continuing.
Rich: Hope the injury heals soon.
Maura: Glad you had some good weather too for your 9 mile run.
Jeanette: Good luck with the photography course. And Yeah for good quality sleep.
We have had some decent weather lately too, although the wind has still been strong so it hasn't felt as warm as it looked. I got out for 10 miles on Monday with the middle 8 at marathon pace. My knee was a causing me a bit of a problem early on so I stopped to shake it out and massage it then it was fine for the rest of the time. Not sure what's going on there. I'm scheduled for a 6 mile tempo run today. I forgot my Garmin at home, so I'll just have to go by effort today.
Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone Maura sent me on over to join the Super Goofs if you'll have me. The team name fits me!:upsidedow
I'm a 40 something mom of three (DS22, DS20 and DD15) who runs and is a disney lover. I can't believe I found a place online where I can 'live' both! :banana:I've been running for about 2 and 1/2 years more on than off although winters here in Upstate NY make December-February a more "off" time.
I completed a couple of local 5K's last year and then my first 1/2 in October. I was the person who said "I can't run, I'm not athletic, it's boring". Well I have found, "I can run!" not very fast mind you, but I can do it. One of my proudest moments is actually finishing the 1/2 in 2:07, since my goal was 2:30! My DD is the one who inspired me to start running. That's a story for another time.
Actually getting to FL and completing a Disney 1/2 or full marathon is an ultimate goal for me. Don't know if it will be this year or next or the one after but I'm focused on eventually getting there. My goal for this year is to possibly run a marathon in the fall, or maybe another half. DH is thinking about trying one too.:yay:
Looks like everyone has got the same 'spring' fever I have and is out trying to log some miles. I actually got outside Sat, Sun and Tuesday this week without having put 10 layers of clothes on!
Our next Disney trip is in June and I am so looking for going for some runs within the resort area around POR and OKW. I've been on DISboards for a long time (don't post too often though) but never knew that WISH was here!
Combining Disney and running....I just can't believe there is actually a spot to do this!:woohoo::woohoo:

Jeanne Welcome to our little family. Sounds like you're a fairly speedy runner! And you also sound like you're ready to do a marathon. I did my first in January...at Disney. It seems to be the source/inspiration for many of my firsts (first real race, first 1/2, first full). Do you have anything in mind for your fall race? I am debating whether to do a fall full in the hopes of qualifying for Boston. I missed by 3 minutes at Disney. Hope you figure out a great challenge.
Cindy Hope your knee feels better. Only about 1 month to go. If it was me, I would be in my "watch out, please don't let anything happen to me" mode. But I'm sure you're less neurotic than I am!
Suzanne You always look so happy in your race pictures. Glad you had a good time.
I just got back from a spin class at the gym, where I got the distinct impression that the instructor thought someone needed to keep an eye on me. One of the trainers was in the class, and at one point the instructor went to chat with the trainer and it seemed like they were both looking at me. Then at one other point in the class I was looking around and looked over towards the trainer and she was smiling at me. Maybe they thought I was gonna keel over! I don't know why...I felt fine and wasn't slacking. Oh well. It was a good workout.
Have a good day, Goofs.

Maura,
Wouldn't call myself speedy but Thank you! One of the best things that happened last year was when a person that I didn't know approached me at a Car event I was at last year with my DH and said 'You must be a runner', I asked her how she knew and she said because of my calves:rotfl:. I got such a kick out of that!
Not sure yet on my fall event. Maybe the Wineglass Marathon in Corning, NY. My BIL has run it a couple of times and likes the course. My DD runs XC in the fall so many of the fall weekends are spent 'running' around to XC meets, therefore I tend to try and pick an event that doesn't conflict with her meets. Only two more years of watching her until she's off to college so don't want to miss too many and she is a 'back of the pack' runner so always like to be there to support her, even if she is last.
Wish I could find something like your Spinning class to do to cross train but I live in a pretty rural area and options are limited.

Suzanne - congrats on a great race. You looked strong and crossed the finish line with a smile on your face! Way to go!
Jeanne - Welcome, glad to have you on board.
Cindy - hope the knee is doing better.
M - congrats to your son and his hockey team!
As for me - got my runs in, dialed it back down to whatever I could comfortably finish in 20 minutes for M-W this week, and then tried 4 miles today. I was prepared to bag it early if my leg felt bad, but it seemed to hold up okay. I think I just strained a calf muscle, but combined with not much sleep and not enough food (both my fault, more or less), it just made it worse. A couple days of easy running, rest, and extra food, and while I am not good as new, I think I can manage 4 or 5 tomorrow and Saturday, and then we'll see what I can do on Sunday.
I'm not really worried about BQing (or even PRing) at my next race, but part of that is because I am toying with doing a timed ultra 3 weeks later.

Angie Your quilt is great!
Shan Yeah for making it through week 2. Hope the gymnastics meet went well. I used to be the same way watching my DS play baseball---just couldn't do it comfortably.
Rich Hope your weekend runs went well and you recovered from your calf strain.
Did my 10 mile today, which was fine, especially since I did nothing on Friday and Saturday. But I had a good reason. DD had qualified to run in the Distance Medley Relay at NCAA Division III National Championship. They didn't have the greatets race there, but DD ran reasonably well and I'm very proud of her. Her team came in 10th at the meet overall, and with a key runner out injured and a couple of people just missing (by hundredths) qualifying for event finals, that was a great result.
Time for lunch.

My weekend runs went, in a word, poorly. Did only 3.25 or something yesterday, and then just over 1.5 outside this evening before bagging it. This is taking longer to heal than I like.

Rich...hoping for a speedy recovery!!
Shan...how did your daughter do at her meet?
Jeanne...where in Clermont are your SIL/BIL? I love it here but since my husband and I both work for Disney, we never go to the parks.

Hi Goofs,
We have a beautiful, sunny upper 50's kind of day here--just wonderful. So after the cake finishes baking, it's time to walk the dog. Went to the gym for my usual Tuesday speed work and yoga. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Goofs!
Finally got in a semi-decent run today. 4 miles at a decent speed, and I didn't ache afterwards. With any luck, I can resume normal running this week, though I probably won't be adding speedwork or anything soon. I'll try running 4-5 miles every day this week, and see about doing a longer run on Saturday.
Question for the team - there is a 6 week, "Bike Across SW Michigan" thing at the Y. Basically, you record your miles over a 6 week period, seeing if you can make the 272 miles (or whatever it is) they they have laid out. If I do this, would those bike miles count double, since it is an organized activity? (Even if they don't, that's a nice chunk of mileage toward our team goal.)

It's actually in the 50's here today and the sun is out! First time in four days!!
Went for my first 5 mile run since last November with my sister this afternoon and didn't feel too bad, we'll see how i feel tomorrow. It's nice to run with someone for a change, usually it's just me and my mp3 player.

The team goal and the miles to Disney are related. Since the teams are kind of unofficial, more social groups than anything else, we decided that our "challenge" this year would be for the Goofs to run, walk, bike, bobsled, row, rollerblade, swim, stroll, or otherwise convey ourselves a total team distance that would equal the total distance that all of us live from the Happiest Place on Earth.
So, we added up how far everyone is from WDW - it could be any place in the parks - mine, for example, is roughly equal to the distance from my front door to the front door of AKL, which is my favorite resort. I think a couple are to Wilderness Lodge, or Magic Kingdom. If your favorite place in WDW happens to be a spot where you have a perfect view of Illuminations, use that.
Each month, we record our total mileage. That way, even once someone finishes their miles, they are still contributing. And, of course, the lucky souls who live within a couple hours of WDW don't have a huge advantage.

Thanks!
Go so my mileage to Disney, which is to the Magic Kingdom, is 1199 miles by car. The Magic Kingdom is the when I really feel like I'm 'there' That's because that was the only place when my parents took me there in 1974 not long after the park first opened. I will add those miles to the total but I'll try and add the running miles too! Thanks for filling in this new-timer!:flower3:

Good Morning Goofs.
I've been enjoying the warmer weather and longer days. Haven't been able to take advantage of them as much as I'd like because I fell out of bed and screwed up my neck and hips. (Seriously, what adult falls out of bed? I feel like I am a 5 year old some times.:sad2: ) Getting 'fixed' today though. Planning on marching in a parade on Sunday with my pups.
Welcome Jeanne!
Rich- I'm with Suzanne, count it.:thumbsup2
Angie- Great quilt!!
Suzanne- Are you sure you didn't make a quick stop off at the powder room before the photographer snapped your photos? You look smashing.
Maura- Isn't this weather to die for? However, in typical Michigan style, I fear it will snow on Mother's Day. :guilty:
Hope everyone is having a great week!

Good Morning Goofs.
Todd: Sorry you hurt yourself falling out of bed. That is a bit unusual for an adult to do. Hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your good weather while it's here.
Rich: Glad to hear you are on the mend. I'm curious, is there any reason behind your running streak?
Jeanne: Welcome to the Goofs. Good job on running 5. It is nice to run with someone every once in a while.
Maura: Glad you are having some nice weather. We are too. I am so completely neurotic about getting sick or injured right before a race. I'm always pushing my kids away when they're coughing or sneezing towards me. I won't let them jump on me either the week before for fear I'll pull a muscle. Before my marathon last fall I wouldn't car pool with my neighbor because I didn't want to be cooped up in the same air space with anyone for so long.
Angie: The quilt is fantastic. I also like the curtain rod with all that Bling!
Megan: Where's that race report? Hope you had fun at WDW.
I got out in the cold rain for 18 on Monday. The knee was good. I didn't do a good job fueling in that I forgot to restock my gels after my 5.5 mile loop then had only 1 gel and a few pretzels for the 13.5 mile loop. Oops. The last 6 miles were a bit of a struggle, but I got through it. I ran 9 miles yesterday in temps that were 25 degrees warmer than Monday. I'm not complaining, but it was almost too hot. I just have to get acclimated a bit. I'm running a 1/2 marathon this weekend, the weather is supposed to be on the warm side, so we'll see how it goes. I may scale back on my speedwork on Friday so my legs aren't so tired for Sunday.
Have a great day everyone.

Todd - hope you get better. FWIW, I have done that a couple times - usually because DS or DD has climbed into bed and kicked me out, but I think I have managed it a couple times on my own as well.
Cindy - sounds like a nice long run. Hopefully it is not too warm for your half on Sunday.
Regarding the running streak - a couple years ago, I looked at my training logs (after a bad race, I think), and decided that my running had been too sporadic. I had been running long enough that I could try daily running, so I figured I would give it a shot for a couple of weeks. If I got hurt, or it was too difficult, I would stop and try a different running schedule. And I just kept going. Eventually, I realized I had run every day for something like five or six months pretty much without realizing it - I mean, I knew I was running every day, but it didn't really "click" that I had been doing it that long. So, I just kept it up, and yesterday was day #575 or something like that.
When I am being dilligent, I try to have easy and hard days during the week. When I slack, every day is pretty much the same - four or five miles, most of it pretty easy, with the last mile hard.

Hey Goofs! Hope everyone had a nice week and has an even better weekend ahead! :goodvibes
My DD did well at her meet, tied for first on beam, second on bars, third on floor and fourth all around. Didn't place on vault, she has a fear issue going on right now... It was a small meet and fun for her. I'm now trying to decide what to do cause they invited her to move up and the price is just too much. I know she is gonna be heartbroken. I have until April 1st to decide. We're already paying a small fortune for my other daughter's swim so at some point I got to ask myself what we're trying to accomplish. They love their sports, but they're not going to be getting college scholarships. That's all I'm saying. :lmao:
Angie, the quilt is AWESOME! Love it!!!
Maura, congrats to your DD on her race! That is fantastic! :woohoo:
Suzanne, congrats on the lost pounds! :yay:
I'm struggling! I kept going on and off, finally got my butt in gear and lost four pounds. I was so excited, then I somehow gained back a pound this week and I'm counting calories! UGH! :scared1:
So I just finished week three. Got in a little over 10 miles this week. Still doing walk breaks. I'm slowly getting back there, I think? :lmao:
DH is running a full on Sunday and I'm gonna attempt to get us both into the Peachtree again this year. Online registration starts Sunday. Wish me luck!

Hello, I'm new to the Goofs and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jason and I'm 34. I live South of Cleveland, OH which puts me 1014 miles from WDW. I picked up running about 16 months ago after losing a bunch of weight and needing to get active again. I've since ran in 4 half marathons including the Princess just a couple of weeks ago, several 5k & 10ks, and a couple of sprint triathlons. I'm hoping to complete a full marathon and/or olympic distance tri by year end. My mileage in Feb was 98.7 miles.
I'm happy the weather is turning. I've been able to run outside for the last three days and now have 8 days outside in the last two weeks. It's nice get off the treadmill finally. I'll have to start pushing myself next week instead of just enjoying being outside.

Welcome Jason! Your race "curriculum vitae" sounds a lot like mine. Sounds like a mrathon would be a great next challenge. Got anything coming up in the near future? I am also looking at an olympic distance race this year. Just need to get a plan.
Shan Kid's sports can get so expensive, can't they? I'm rather glad my kids ran in HS and played Little League. The cost was a lot lower! Of course, if they had been interested in other sports, I'm sure we would have been supportive.
Megan Okay, I've read the blog post, so I'm looking forward to the rest of your trip report. Seems like all the pretty Princesses (and handsome Princes) had a good time at the race. I feel like I should run it just to get the medal--something about doing all the Disney races (which means I'd also have to do Everest and Wine and Dine!)
The last of the good weather days here...but I went swimming. I really need to rampu up the swim and cycle workouts if I want to do the tri this summer. I tried doing some swim drills today--yes, that was me coughing and sputtering. I think I need to get some swim fins.
Enjoy the weekend all. A frined has convinced me to do a 5 mile trail race tomorrow, so that will be "interesting".

Hiya Goofs! I've been MIA for a bit, but I am checking back in. You all have been busy!
Welcome Jason! You're not too far from me...the weather has been lovely, hasn't it!
Maura-You should totally do the Princess next year! That is my plan for next year! And really, the races are just another excuse to make a trip to Disney!
Shan-Wow...My brother rides horses...talk about expensive!..my mom always joked that she could have put him in swimming! It would have been a lot cheeper! And DH wants DS to play hockey...not the cheapest sport by a long shot! Of course DH thinks DS will be the next Sidney Crosby and give us an early retirement! :rotfl2:
Suzanne-You looked great finishing up the Princess! I always look a mess when I finish my runs and I am only doing 40 minutes of running/walking! My hair is falling all over and my face turns beat red...and stays that way for about an hour after I finish!
Angie-Your quilt is awsome! My DM and DGM are both quilters. My mom is going to make a quilt for DS after our trip in June. We are going to have the characters all sign squares of fabric to make it!
It has been beautiful here all week, but I have not been able to get out for a run in it...I hate to leave Colby after being away from him all day at work, so I like to run after he is in bed. Even with the time change, it is getting pretty dark by that time, so I have been sticking to indoor runs. Things are going well with my C25K. I am hoping we can get one more really nice day tomorrow so we can take DS to the zoo! When we took him last summer, he slept the whole time! Of course he was only 2 months old, too! Here's hoping!
I also made a discovery tonight! Colby is cutting his first tooth! Finally! He is 10 months old...that is when I got my first tooth as well, so following in my footsteps! So far he has not been fussy at all...hopefully I don't jinx it and he sleeps well tonight!
Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

Welcome Jason, now I'm not the newbie anymore !
Hi Shan, my son spent 10 years in competitive gymnastics so I totally understand the cost! He stopped when he was 16 due to a back injury but was on track to compete at the college level. The good thing that has come out of this is he has used the experience doing gymnastics to get him a job. He coached all the way through HS and now coaches during his breaks (he's in his 3rd year of college). Coaching at 19-20 is way better than flipping burgers. My sister's son played Hockey and it was WAY more expensive than the gymnastics esp. since he was a goalie and need tons of equipment.
Hi Ashleigh! I remember those 'first tooth' days! How exciting! My 'baby' is 16 years old in two weeks. 10 months old is my favorite age, they are so cute but not quite mobile yet so you're not chasing them everywhere.
The weather has been so gorgeous here in Upstate NY. Today is supposed to be the last hurrah of the nice weather so I'm going to try and go out for a long run this afternoon. Ran Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday this week for a total of 13. Want to get back to the 25 or so miles a week I was doing in October.
Hope everyone has a marvelous weekend!

:rotfl2:Ha! Not quite mobile?!?! He has been walking since he was 8 1/2 months old! And crawling since 6 months...he is into everything! My mother suggested tying a weight around his neck...maybe that would slow him down? :rotfl: God bless our pack and play or I would never be able to unload the dishwasher or get dinner made...Colby would be too busy trying to 'help'! :lmao: He is pretty darn cute if I do say so myself!! I just wanted to tell about my race this weekend...I did the Shamrock Shuffle, went into a "flat" course with a terrible headcold, but didn't want to back out after registering, so figured I'd just get thru it, and not worry about my time...the course had one flat spot, the rest was ALL hills, dont know who decided to call it flat, but it wasn't! The weather was excellent, it got up over 60, unheard of in NH in March, sun was out, even got a little sunburn on my nose! The race director had planned on approx 300 runners, there were over 600 that showed up, they ran out of food, ran out of water, ran out of t-shirts, but it was all good. AND, I even had a decent time (for me) even with the hills and the headcold. AND, my dd ran it too (she does run with me occasionally) and she had a good time too. Neither of us won in the raffles, but we did have lunch after in an Irish pub, the food was YUM!
Today, we finished off the maple syrup (making it, not eating it, though I did some of that too!), done for the season!
Hope everyone else had great weekends!

Got my last good weather run in today, since it going to get cold for the next week or so. Also did my first sorta long run since running the Princess half. Did 8.5 yesterday and it felt great. I actually made myself stop so i wouldn't push it too much. Of course then today felt horrible.

Ashleigh Your son is adorable (I peeked at your trip report), and I can't imagine what it would be like to have a child walking so early! BTW, I love OKW. My sister has DVC there (they bought the first year it was available) so I have been lucky to spend time there over the years. It is big, and feels different from other DVC resorts. I have said (too many times to some of my family) that I would be very happy living in a 1BR unit there! They broke the mold after they built that place.
Angie Congrats on your race. And glad you had nice weather. My mother (who lives in MA) always says "We get your weather one day after you have it). So YOU got my nice warm 60's!
As for me, on Saturday I did an impromptu race with a friend. It was a 5 mile trail race called "No Frills, All Thrills" at a local MetroPark. Can you say hills? Oh my god, I have never done a race that was 80+% up and down. Only the inital ~1/2 mile or so (and same finishing) were flat. It was hard!
The weather here--which has been glorious all week--switched back to late winter (happy vernal equinox!) so race temp was 36F with a wind of about 5-10 mph. Once I started running I was comfortable--temperature wise anyway! Fixed on one person who seemed to be about my pace and age group and tried to stay with her. Funny, I chatted with her after the race--she was faster uphill and I was downhill, so every time I thought I was closing on the downhill, she would regain on the uphill. I did end up passing her after the 4 mile point.
Finished in 42:53 (8:35 pace), which was 4th in my age group (would have placed based on last year) I guess this is an okay time, since it was a trail race and hilly, but it's off my best 10k pace fo sure.
Got a tech shirt, and they were selling nice headbands for $5, so picked one of those up. Then my friend and I headed to Ann Arbor, where we were supposed to meet up with her son for lunch, but he was a no show. So just the two of us at Blimpy Burgers.
I was expecting to feel it in my legs yesterday, but amazingly did not, so I headed off to Ashtanga Yoga (and skipped my scheduled LR-- a fair trade)
Today might be a rest day--haven't had one in a little while. We'll see.
Hope everyone else is doing well and your teams are surviving in March Madness. MSU pulled out another heart stopper (after again blowing a big lead). Their chances are dim though, having lost their best guard. But the weekend games sure were entertaining!

Hi Goofs! I feel like I write in a bunch of different places lately and seem to miss updating you guys. Well, aside from the instant posts from my phone, I'm updating you guys first this time!
I managed to make it to the gym this evening. I hopped on the eliptical for 10 minutes for about .75 miles then I went to the indoor track and did W2D1 of C25K. I know that I train for longer distance, but I'm really working on getting faster and running longer for longer so during the week I am going to focus on that program.

Angie and Maura, congrats on your races, your rock girls!
Rich, hope you are feeling better.
Joanne, volunteering for the Boston marathon sounds awesome, I'm sure you'll have some great stories to share.
As for me, Spring break is just around the corner for my daughter and then she has 9 weeks to go until summer. It feels like the school year just started and she is almost done with her freshman year of high school. I can't believe it. We picked her classes for next year and she'll be taking chorus again which she loves and plans to be on the newspaper staff. We are trying to decide where to go for vacation this summer, any suggestions? Disney World is not on the list!!! I am signing up for a local 10K next month with part of the fees going to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer fund. Good cause and shirt, medal and food for $25. You can't beat that!!
There are a few Goofs who haven't been around in a while so I am going to send them a private message to make sure everything is OK. As we all know, life just gets in the way sometimes but there are so many new posters on the Wish boards looking for a team that I don't want to hold a spot for anyone who is no longer interested in participating. Does that make sense? Anyone agree or disagree? Please tell me, I'm a big girl and you won't hurt my feelings, I promise!!!

Joanne Congrats on the Boston gig--may it be a quiet, uneventful day.
Megan A little speedwork is always fun to mix things up. Hope your LR goes well.
Suzanne Since we jave the new team now (The Incredibles), we have some room there for newbies--but I think it's great to just check in amd make sure people are okay.
As for me---it's been a weird training week. One thing though--don't do speedwork (or run) in the afternoon after you've gone out to lunch! Even though it was 2-3 hours later, it didn't work. I quit halfway through.
Otherwise, I am tackling cleaning the garage. DS wants to park the car inside since it is the beginning of "Water Wars" at school--it's a senior thing. He wants to make sure noone can get him when he leaves for school in the a.m. Seems like we have stuff out there theat has been there forever. Mostly, I leave the garage to my DH, and neither one of use is big on clutter, but there is still stuff there that I have no clue why we have it. So maybe if the weather cooperates, we can get it done this weekend.
Anyway, have a good one, Goofs!

Hey y'all!
I'm still here, just quiet! :goodvibes Spring gets me down with my allergies, but I'm plugging along (don't the trees understand that I love them and so they need to quit killing me?)
I've decided that if I want to run the whole Mickey Marathon (2012 :scared1:) that my time in the 1/2 must get better. I just don't have the attention span that my current time in the 1/2 would suggest I need for the marathon, as in SIX HOURS! So I've decided speed work is what's in store for me for now rather than distance, though that will change somewhat as I get closer to the DL 1/2. Also I don't think my cross training is where it should be either, as in not at all as I hate cross training! :rotfl: But I've read a few things that suggest that I need it to help avoid injury and that somehow it will actually help my speed. So those are my goals coming up, get faster slowly to avoid injury and be firm with myself on my cross training.

Did a speed day yesterday and today was an easy recovery run. Long run planned for tomorrow. Will easily get my 25-30 miles in this week. I'm hoping the weather is nice this weekend so I can get some
I've got a 5k in a couple of weeks and was hoping to PR there. It was my first race a year ago when I started running. It's exciting to get to run the same race from last year and start comparing the differences. I expect at least a 3 minute faster time this year.

Oh gotcha! Didn't know you had a 'runner' to be! My middle son walked at 7 months, he was so little and walking! He is the one who was the gymnast, is there a connection? Maybe??!!
Well even when you can't go for a run, you are running after them!
...ah the good old days....
Now my three DS 22, DS 20, and DD 15 (16 on April 4th as she keeps reminding me!) just drive me a little crazy but in a good way! :)
Yes, already a runner. He certainly keeps us running after him! He can now open up all the cupboards and likes to throw all the contents on the kitchen floor. Maybe we have a baseball player on our hands? Or maybe a QB?
~My birthday is April 4 as well!~
Ashleigh Your son is adorable (I peeked at your trip report), and I can't imagine what it would be like to have a child walking so early!
Maura
Thanks! I am glad to hear you like OKW! I am excited about staying in a new resort.
Sounds like you had a good race!
Here in dreary Erie it has started to snow again. No big surprise...I am looking forward to spring break! Tomorrow is our last day of school until April 7th! I am so excited to be able to stay home with Colby for a while! If the weather breaks again maybe we will be able to go out to the peninsula (there is an awsome trail for walking/running/biking). But it has to be pretty nice for us to go down there. It is always about 10 degrees colder down there because of the lake.

Happy 'Easter' birthday to you Ashleigh! :bday: I know it's not April 4th yet, but close enough!
Enjoy every minute with that little boy of yours, gosh it goes so fast. Our schools Easter break here doesn't start until April 1st but they don't go back until April 12th.
I'm just getting my miles back under me. Hoping to go on my long run tomorrow. 7 miles is what I plan on. Seems like it's taking so long to get back into running where I was last fall. Would love to get back to 20-25miles a week, but trying not to push it. Don't want to injure anything.
Hoping everyone has a great weekend and the sun shines!:cool2:

Hey Goofs! Hope everyone had a great week and is ready for the weekend!
Week four back running is done. It was an easy week and I got in 8 miles, all under a 13:00 pace - still incorporating walk breaks. My old knee injury aggravated me a tiny bit today, but nothing I couldn't handle.
Still debating on gymnastics! :lmao: I'm pretty sure we're gonna go thru with it. Thanks for the comments.
I got DH and myself into the Peachtree Road Race again this year. Took a little over an hour before I got us both in. I also signed us up for the Georgia Marathon next March. DH will be doing the full and I'll be doing the half. The first 200 for each distance to sign up got a kicking deal - $35 for the full and $25 for the half!!! I couldn't pass that up, though that course is the same one I injured my knee on... Don't like those hills!
DH had a rough full this past weekend. He finished, but an hour slower than last year. He said he learned a valuable lesson - to train! I'm very proud of him. He has determination!
Got one more week until we arrive at Kidani Village at AKV. I'm so excited. The Easter bunny will have to visit us while we're at Disney!
Hi Jason! Welcome to the Goofs!
Maura - Way to go on the trail race! That is a great pace! Congrats!
Joanne - Awesome about the Boston Marathon!!!

Hi Goofs,
Just a quick note - still trying to hack up a lung, but I got in a decent 7 miler yesterday, and have maintained my streak on the other days. Should be getting back in the swing of things this week, and I signed up for the "Bike across lower Michigan" challenge thing at the Y, so I should be adding lots of bike miles next month.

Hey Goofs! I've been skimming on my bberry, so please forgive me for not replying to folks (need to covince my dad to get wifi!). My monkies are on spring break this week, so we left DH at home and headed out to visit family. I decided that this week will be my self-imposed, self-directed triathlon training camp, so I packed up my bike and we headed to the multi-sport training mecca of . . . Cleveland! I rode 15 miles around my home town in 38 degree weather and swam 750 yds yesterday. Up for another swim today!

Hi Goofs,
The drama that is college application process has pretty much played out, so I hope to stop feeling anxious...for a little while anyway! DS got into 4 out of 6 schools he applied to. Could be 5, if U of M comes through (not holding my breath) and could have been more but we found out that his transcript did not reach one of the schools (don't get me started. There's enough blame to go around), so his app was considered incomplete.
So we have to do some last minute school trips and then DS needs to reach a decision that he will be comofrtable with. Hoo boy.
As for training... it's going fine. Runs are okay, swimming is the usual laugh-fest and haven't gotten out to bike, but have been doing some indoor work. Got my second wetsuit in and it's the keeper, so need to send the first back.
Weather is starting to shape up. It's supposed to hit mid to upper 70's here by Thursday.:cool1:
Shan Enjoy your Disney trip. I still regret not making it down for Princess. Guess my next Disney trip will have to be DL 1/2.
Rich Glad the streak's still intact.
M Glad you're getting in your workouts--and we'll send the nice weather your way (after we're done wirh it in Michigan!)
Jeanne Hope your 7-miler went well. You'll get back to where you were, mileage-wise.
Lauren Hope you find some speed work and XT that works for you. It's alwasys good to mix things up now and then just to keep from getting bored. (That's how I ended up running in the first place!)
Jason Good luck on your upcoming race. Hope you get your PR.
Time to go walk the dog.....

Good Morning Goofs!
I have been quite remiss in posting here as of late, as I just got out of hospital after a week. I haven't done anything, being bed ridden. But I am almost back to 100%.
Today is supposed to reach a high of 70° here in Metro Detroit, and I plan on getting out and adding some last minute miles to March.

Month mileage update. Did a pretty good job this month, but took off 6 days in a row after the Princess half. With the weather turning so nice, it'll be much easier to keep up the mileage.
Feb mileage - 98.7
March mileage - 109.8

Todd Sorry to hear that you were inthe hospital. I hope whatever it is has been resolved and that you will feel great soon. The weather should help over the next few days. It is so nice out now.
Guess it's time to tally up the mileage for the month. I'll get to work on that soon. Right now I am putting the finishing touches on Lemon Cloud with Strawberry Compote. Bringing dessert over to friends' house for dinner.
I earned every bite of this dessert. Today I did a stint on the bike, and thought I'd follow it with this weight class. But it turned out the class was also a Cardio class, too. So I got an extra workout--not expected!

Drive by Goofs...
Got 39.42 miles in for March. It should increase as I've got some races coming up I'm gonna actually have to train for. :lmao:
Getting ready to leave for spring break. Can't wait to see my pal Mickey. I'll be MIA until we get back.
Have a great week everyone! :grouphug:

Hi Goofs!
Todd- sorry to hear about the hospital stint. Hope all is well.
Maura - yay for extra workouts? (Okay, that should be a good thing, but it doesn't always feel like it at the time, does it?) Enjoy the dessert - you earned it.
Shan - walking miles count, so maybe walking around WDW should count double too! :)
Jason - well done on the miles. It does get easier as the weather gets better, doesn't it?
As for me - ran and biked yesterday, ran intervals and biked today. Lost more fitness than I liked, but I'm not going to worry about it.
Miles for the month: 143.47. (Lower than I would have liked, since it is missing a couple long runs, but life happens, right?)

Please don't boot me off the team, I read every day, just don't have much interesting to say!!
My miles for March are 63.81, and please add 23.3 to my Feb total ('cause I forgot to double my race miles)

Hi Goofs. Sorry I haven't posted in a while.
Rich: Hope you are feeling better soon. Good job on keeping the streak alive. Thanks for sharing your reason behind the streak. I'm glad you brought up injuries (or lack there of). I currently run 3x a week and hope to increase it over the summer, but worry about getting injured. Not that I intend to start streaking but hope to go up to 5 days a week without incident.
Maura: Enjoy the dessert. It does sound like you earned it.
Jason: Belated welcome to the Goofs.
Todd: Glad you are out of the hospital in time to enjoy the good weather. Hope all health issues are behind you.
M: Enjoy your vacation in Cleveland.
Have to cut this short for now. Hope to get on again later.

Way to go to all Goofs! :grouphug:
I think spring is actually here and we'll all be able to enjoy some sunshine soon, even us 'up north' people.
Todd - glad to hear your on the mend and back with us here!
Maura - that dessert sounds delicious and not to heavy on the calories
Cindy - I'm also trying to get back to 5 days of running a week, not quite there yet but maybe this week!
My miles for March were 57.8.
Hopefully April will be better, thinking of doing a Mother's Day 5K , have to ramp up the miles if I will actually be able to do a marathon in October. Still not sure I can do it...time will tell!

Hi all! We are finally enjoying some spring weather up here! I have gotten outside for a few runs lately...it is so much nicer than running on the TM! I am enjoying spring break...11 whole days off of school! It is great spending lots of time with DS! Today we started a mommy and me swim class. Colby loved it! I probably can't count my time in the water with him as 'exercise' though...
I also decided on a Jogging Stroller. I am getting the Baby Trend Velocity Jogger. I will probably be getting it within the week. I am pretty excited about it!
My total for March is 36 miles.
Hope everyone has a good holiday this weekend!

Including today's backwoods hill adventure with my pups, my March total is 39 miles.
My goal for April is to at least double that.
And thank you all for your well wishes. I think I've triumphed over it.
