My use year is December.
Am I subject to not using the Disney Collection in the last 4 months of my use year even for the member cruise??
This seems like an awesome trip and I am looking forward to hopefully having the opportunity to book for next year.
I would love to hear some reports about past member cruises and what were some of the favorite moments??
Thanks,
Bob

The rule of four can be a bit confusing but it doesn't mean you can't have a reservation outside of the DVC resorts in the last 4 months of your UY. All it means is that you cannot do the actual booking it in the last 4 months.

Rule of Four as posted on member website:
Rule of Four
You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection, (excluding Disneylandİ Resort Hotels in California), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year.
Booking day for the Member Cruise is usually 10 months before the sail date so the rule of four wouldn't apply.

DVC has officially announced the date in the Spring 2010 Disney Files magazine. SS Member Cruise 2011 will sail on the Disney Dream September 18 - 22, 2011.

The DVC Member Cruises typically sell out either on the initial booking day, or shortly thereafter. No need to worry about booking close to sail date, as there most likely would not be availability at the later time.
We have sailed on two DVC Member Cruises and have thoroughly enjoyed them. We have had a chance to get together with friends (fellow members and DVC Guides as well) and find a camaraderie that makes you feel like you are among all friends and family.

This may be a dumb question but --- Is there a reason I can't pull this particular cruise up on DCL?

Because DVC chartered the entire ship for that date. The Member Cruise can only be booked by MS. The booking date will probably be announced in Oct.

Thanks Michael. I don't feel so dumb now.

I checked DVC website for it. We have never done a member cruise- do you use points, purchase, or either?
It leaves on my birthday so I really want to be on this cruise!!
I left the Disney files open for my dh to see with a post-it that said My birthday present (and anniversary and Christmas) for 2011.
I have been on the Wonder and the Magic-can't wait to check out the Dream!

You can pay with points, cash or both. But, you can't use more than one payment method for a single passenger. The point & cash rates should be out by October.

I saw the dates in Disney Files and I decided that since my birthday is a few days before then this is my present to myself. Can't wait for more information to come out.

If I remember correctly, posters have commented that this cruise is more expensive than the non-member cruises of the same length, etc. Am I correct about this - it's not a "perk" of any sort? How is the extra cost justified if, indeed, it is more expensive?

It is a little more expensive than a regular cruise. For the past two years, at the least, the tips have been included. There are special guests during the cruise. Each person in the stateroom receives a gift usually every night.

I'm trying to convince DH that this is something we should do! We were going on a Holy Land cruise next year, but we're now thinking that 2012 would be better for us.
I would be missing the first day of school if we go on this cruise, but I think it would be worth it.

I too am considering this cruise. I am having a little trouble justifying the extra cost. Right now DCL has a special on a 10 night mediterranean cruise for $999. This four day cruise would be about that same price!:scared1: Is it really that great?

If I book the member cruise 2011 while on the Wonder in 2010....will I get the discount and stateroom credit?
Also interested in what's different about it...

The Member Cruise can only be booked by Member Services. The cruise is a charter and DVC sets the pricing and booking date.
