Meet the gang

Hi everyone! This is my first attempt at a PTR. So please be patient with me.

So I bet you are wondering when this trip will take place and who are all these people on this trip. I will be going on the Adventures By Disney Backstage Magic Tour from from April 12th - 19th. The tour starts on the 13th and ends on the 18th.

The cast of this trip is very large. We will have 43 DIS'ers! i will be rooming with Kim. I met her on the Podcast cruise the DIS Unplugged and Dreams Unlimited put on in May of 2009. Kim has been going to WDW for a long time. I think she has spent something like 589 nights at WDW so far. Me on the other hand have been going to WDW since 2007. I lived in Southern Cali as a child. We would do a couple trip to DL and Knott's every year. This will be my first trip spending more than a day at DL. John and Katherine will be a big part of this trip too. I have become great friends with Katherine and John, we met during the podcast cruise also. I have met half of the people on the trip from the podcast cast cruise. I can't wait to meet the rest.

On with our plans. We arrive on April 12th. Kim and I arrive at LAX within an hour of each other, so I am planning on meeting her at her gate. I will be in Las Vegas spending time with my family and flying in from there. Kim is spending the weekend at WDW before the trip. We both will be leaving on the 19th. Kim will be flying out of John Wayne and I will be flying out of LAX. Kim will be going back home, I will be going back to Las Vegas to spend more time with my family.

So our plan for the first day is, after we get our bags and take the town car provided by ABD is check-in at the hotel which is the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. We will be there for the next three nights. Then we are meeting up with Karen (Klam chowder) and Katherine (Katscradle). Karen managed to get 4 tickets for the April 12th taping of the Ellen Show! :cool1: :woohoo: :dance3: I'm so excited because I love the Ellen Show! Thanks Karen!!! :worship: :worship: It will be at the Warner Brothers Studios. None of us are renting a car so we will be taking public transport over there. Wish us good luck with that! After the taping I'm not sure what we are doing. I would like to head over to the Roosevelt Hotel and have a burger. I have heard they have a great bar that serves awesome burgers.

The second day is ABD check-in day. We don't have to meet with ABD till later in the day so we have most of day to ourselves. I was think of hanging around Hollywood BLVD for the day. We could take the tour of Grauman's Chinese theater, shop and just hangout. Diner is at Trastevre Ristorante at the Hollywood and Highland Center. I'm not sure what we will be doing after dinner but I'm sure it will be with the group.

Day three is our first full day with ABD. I can't wait to go over to the Jim Henson Studio. I loved Fraggle Rock, so getting to see where these muppets were created is Awesome. I still love Kermit too. I don't have that many stuffed animals. but I do have Kermit.
As of now there is a big group of us planning on a pilgrimage to IN-N-OUT for dinner this night.

I'm hoping to get some live postings in during the trip. I just bought an iphone and have the eticket app for DL on it. The app has the DISBOARDS on it and it is designed for the iphone, so it is alot easier to use.

Plans for the rest of the trip, and how we found out we get to eat at Club 33!

Day four is a big day. Today we get to go to Imagineering, Walt Disney Studio, the Archives, and Disneyland! We will be having breakfast, lunch, and dinner with ABD and will be checking into the Grand Californian today. The GC will be our home for the next four nights.

Day five, Club 33 day!

We have a thread over on the DIS Unplugged boards for all of us to talk to each other before the trip. Kevin is known as the taunter for all of the DIS planned trips. Every time the team plans something cool Kevin loves to taunt us with the fact that he knows and we don't. It's a lot of fun for all of us. So a few weeks back he posted that they have something cool planned if it all pans out. They were still signing the papers with Disney so they wanted to wait till everything was set in stone before they told us. All of us were hoping it was Club 33, but we weren't sure how they would pull this off. So on Tuesday February 23, we had a private chat so they could let us in on the secret. As soon as they said Club 33 we all went nuts! They were helped out by a friend of theirs named Glenn. If it wasn't for Glenn we would not be going to Club 33. We are trading breakfast at the Plaza with Mickey and Minnie for Club 33. Sounds like a great trade to me! Our breakfast starts at 8am and ends at 10am. We will have Club 33 all to ourselves. I have a feeling that Club 33 has never had a group like ours in there before. I hope they are ready for us. Because we have the club to ourselves the dress code is gone. All of us hit the park for the rest of the day with ABD after breakfast so we won't have time to change clothes. Today we also get to see Walt's Apt above the fire station and get to ride in the Lilly Belle train car.

I know a bunch of us want to get a ride or two in on this trip. Also this is the opening weekend for DCA's Food & Wine Festival. I'm really excited about this. I have been to food & wine at Epcot, plus we have a food & wine weekend here in Aspen that I have been too.

Day seven, last full day at DL/DCA. this will be a sad day. The last ABD item is breakfast at Storytellers. There are few of us staying an extra night so I'm sure we all will hangout today. As of now my cousin and his wife will be joining us today. Plus I believe Nancy a corespondent for the DIS will be with us today too. Kim and I were thinking of doing Sweet Sundays today, but I think if everyone coming over today we should skip it. Kim and I will be spending 11 days at WDW during Food & Wine this year so we could do Sweet Sundays then.

That is the coolest thing ever. Do you have to pay extra on top of what you already paid ABD for your breakfast at the Club or are they just trading it out for you for the breakfast you were supposed to already get?

As far as I know we don't have to pay for breakfast. In order to go on this trip we had to book thru Dreams Unlimited Travel. They are the ones who are responsible for getting this trip together. From what a couple of us think DU is paying for our breakfast. I do need to find this out so I can thank the correct people. If ABD did a trade I would like to thank them. Kevin works for DU and has done all the bookings for this trip on the DU side of thing. I will definitely be thanking him for all his hard work when I see him on the trip.

As everyday goes by I get more excited about this trip. We are having a private chat for all of us going on the trip Thursday, March 18, so we can get to know each other better.

I feel very lucky to be able to go on the ABD tour. We have been very slow where I work and at the first of the year we were all cut down to 32 hours. If it wasn't for the fact I already had the trip paid or I would not be going either.
For the Disney enthusiast this is a dream trip. Not only are we getting to see and do some pretty cool stuff, I get to do it with a bunch of great people. :cool1: :cool1:

I also have heard great things about ABD. Everyone raves about the tours they do. I'm going to be so spoiled after this trip, it will be hard to go back and do trips on my own. :rotfl:

I think this weekend I will pullout my one piece of Luggage we are allowed to bring on the ABD trip and start packing. We are aloud 1 piece of luggage and a carryon that will fit in the overhead bin in the bus. ABD moves all of our luggage for us and it has to fit in the bus. I wont need my shorts around here for a while so I will start packing those first. I have my power strip in the bag already. I need to start going thru my electronics and get all of the chargers together so I don't forget something. I just ordered a new fleece jacket, a pair of shorts, and a new shirt for the trip. Other than that I don't have anything new to add for this trip.

I did just pay off a DVC rental for part of my October trip. Todd and I will be rooming together for the first four nights of my October trip. We wanted to stay in the Epcot area resorts, but they were already booked up so Todd and I will be staying at Old Key West resort.
Kim, Todd and I will be running/walking in the inaugural Wine and Dine Race. Kim and I will be doing the relay and Todd will be running the 1/2 marathon. I can't wait till the time changes so I can get outside and start running.

I guess that is it for now.

Today I was thinking about what to do during our free day in Hollywood.

If we don't want to leave the strip I was thinking of doing the Grauman's Chinese Theater tour, checking out Madame Tussauds, then the Kodak Theater.
The Kodak is where the Oscars are held. If we don't hit The Roosevelt Hotel the night before then I would love to check it out on this day. The Roosevelt is where Marilyn Monroe lived for a time and where the first Oscars were held. This Roosevelt has tons of old hollywood history. I read on another TR about this trip that this Hotel is where Bill "Bojangles" Robinson taught Shirley Temple to tap dance for the 1935 movie "The Little Colonel". It was the tap dance sequence on the stairs. Here is a link to a clip from the moive.

Signing on! I can't wait to hear about this ABD trip! I would never take it because I live in So Cal and would never be able to afford a staycation like that! So I will live vicariously through your adventure.

We will be at the GCV for two nights the day your group arrives. You are also getting there on the start of the Food & Wine Festival, so if you have extra time off, that might be a great way to enjoy yourselves.

I have a friend who is a Club 33 Member and have attended some of their "Member's only" Dinners when I can afford the $150pp charge, believe me when the wine is included all night, they have seen about everything. The one thing that will probably overwhelm the staff is getting all the merchandise that your group will all want to buy from the case to commemorate your trip there! :lmao:

I would triple check this before you go, the dress code is not that severe that it is hard to adhere to. I've heard in the last couple years they have been not letting guests in. When guests (who a club member has made a regular reservations) pick up passes at Guest relations, they give us a card with all the Rules and Regulations including the Dress Code. I guess that is so if you are not dressed apropriately you can pick something up on Main Street to wear!

Hi Alison! Glad to have you reading this, I might have a couple of questionsn for you before I leave.
When I was looking at ABD trips this was one of the trips I was not that interested in. If it wasn't for the DIS doing this group trip I would not have gone. This trip is alot money for 5 nights. I lived in So Cal as a kid and in my early twenty's and worked at Greenblatt's on Sunset in 1990. The last time I was in Hollywood it was well, let's say scary. I have been told that Hollywood BLVD has been cleaned up some since then.

We are staying an extra night at GC (Sunday) so we can enjoy DCA F&W. Are you planning on doing Sweet Sundays? My roomy Kim has done this at Epoct's F&W and loved it, so we were thinking of doing this. Then we want to check out as much of F&W as possible.

I wish I was as lucky as you too have eaten at Club 33 more than once. :worship: :worship:
One of our salesman at work has eaten at Club 33 many times. He worked for GE and they had many work functions at Club 33. When I told him I get to eat there he just looked at me and said "so, I've eaten there a bunch if times". :scared1:

We were told by the people that booked Club 33 that we can wear what we plan on wearing that day to the park. They said because we have Club 33 too ourselves that is why Disney agreed to dropping the dress code. What is the dress code for Club 33 anyway? I have seen video on You Tube and people were in shorts and t-shirts. I would think for men they would require a collard shirt, and I'm not sure what they want women to wear.
I will be tripping out when I get inside and am afraid I will miss something. What would you say I need to make sure I see in Club 33? Thanks for any info you can give me. :goodvibes

Are you planning on doing Sweet Sundays? My roomy Kim has done this at Epoct's F&W and loved it, so we were thinking of doing this. Then we want to check out as much of F&W as possible.

I did one Sweet Sundays last year with Keegan Gerhard, if you're a Food Network Fan you know who he is. He has a restaurant in Denver. As part of my Pre F&W 2010 report, I'll include pics for that Event. At $45 a person the value was marginal, at $70 a person we decided not to do it this year. I had planned on it until I saw the price list. :scared1: As it is I think we've dropped about $1500 and that's with the AP discount on all the evening events!

I hope Club 33 is warned to have lots of merch on hand for our group. It seems all of us want something from there. :eek: I need more money for all the stuff I want to buy on this trip. I hope to keep it in check some, and just get a few t-shirts and pins from most places. :rotfl:

The way their merchandise works is that they order it once and when it sells out they order something else. Normally there are some kinds of shirts, perhaps a beverage container (I have a coffee cup, travel coffee cup, a few shot glasses and some wine glasses), then they'll also have other things at random like key chains, cards, tote bags it just depends on when you're there what they have in various sizes. The merchandise is pricey $$$$, even more than regular Disney pricing reality zone.

We were told by the people that booked Club 33 that we can wear what we plan on wearing that day to the park. They said because we have Club 33 too ourselves that is why Disney agreed to dropping the dress code. What is the dress code for Club 33 anyway?

For Lunch Guests may come in fashionable casual attire in order to enjoy the Disneyland Resort in comfort. However, no tank tops, cut offs, swimsuits, bare midriffs, flip flops or beach wear may be worn. Walking length shorts are acceptable. Jeans are acceptable, provided they cover undergarments and are not extremely faded or torn.

What would you say I need to make sure I see in Club 33? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I've been in large parties there and they can only fit 36 in there. Post lots of pictures, I'm curious how they would serve breakfast, buffet style probably, from what I've seen you'll probably have things like scrambled eggs with black truffles, some sort of seafood cakes like salmon or crab, ooooh or maybe crab cakes benedict! I'd love to see what they do, the lunch is incredible, and the few dinners where I've been there to order off the menu we've always ordered the Vintner's dinner.

Anyways, I'll be following your reports closely!

I did one Sweet Sundays last year with Keegan Gerhard, if you're a Food Network Fan you know who he is. He has a restaurant in Denver. As part of my Pre F&W 2010 report, I'll include pics for that Event. At $45 a person the value was marginal, at $70 a person we decided not to do it this year. I had planned on it until I saw the price list. :scared1: As it is I think we've dropped about $1500 and that's with the AP discount on all the evening events!

The way their merchandise works is that they order it once and when it sells out they order something else. Normally there are some kinds of shirts, perhaps a beverage container (I have a coffee cup, travel coffee cup, a few shot glasses and some wine glasses), then they'll also have other things at random like key chains, cards, tote bags it just depends on when you're there what they have in various sizes. The merchandise is pricey $$$$, even more than regular Disney pricing reality zone.

I was wondering if Sweet Sundays was really worth $70.00 PP. Thanks for the info. I think I will save my money and spend it on something else. I might have to check out Keegan's restaurant the next time I'm in Denver. I love Food Networks Challenge series, I just looked at his menu and it looks great.

I wanted to get a pin for myself and a friend. He will be at Disneyland Paris in May and we are going to trade pins.

I just bought some black flats that I'm trying to break in to wear at Club 33. I was thinking my sneakers might be a little yucky for the Club and going in Walt's Apt. I might put another pair of shoes in my backpack so if my feet start to hurt I can change.

A member of our concert band is a Club Member and every year that our band plays at the park, we do a dinner the night before at Club 33. We are always in the trophy room because that's where they put Private Parties. They have some nice nostalgic pictures in there, but other than the microphones in the chandeliers, I can't think of much else.

Hi guys! I got a surprise from the Brown Truck Of Joy today and here is what was in the box. The backpack is not too big. I am hoping to barrow my grandmothers Nikon 12MP DSL and her HD video camera and am not sure if the backpack will be big enough. So I think I will bring my big backpack to my grandmas and if I don't need it then I can leave it there during the trip. Well. other than the pictures I don't have anything more info on the trip.

Hi everyone!
We had a private chat on Thursday and found out we will have three tour guides on this trip. Normally they have two on the tours. ABD decided since we have 44 people instead of 40, that we needed an extra tour guide. From what was said during chat this was the first time they allowed more than the 40 people on the tour.

The other thing we found out is they want the Dis Boards and Dreams Unlimited to agree on another tour before we go on this tour. The top two trips we talked about during chat was Disneyland Paris which ABD doesn't have a tour for and Ireland. I think I need a second job!
We didn't really talk much about our up coming trip. Most of us are coming in a day early and heading over to Warner Brothers Studio. We are having another chat next Thursday and I hope they have more info on the next trip for us. I need as much time to pay for and plan the next ABD trip as possible.

I am so ready for this trip! It has been a long cold and cloudy winter here in Colorado. I'm hoping for perfect weather. I'm thinking 75 - 80 and sunny everyday would be sooo nice.

Well I spent a week in Aspen last year in April, and it was still snowing and cold. I don't know if it will be as high as 80 on your trip, but it will definitely be warmer than where you are. In April it should be in the 70's during the day, but could still get chilly at night.

Where did you stay when you were here? It is rare too talk to someone who has visited here. Most people go to Vail because it is closer to Denver. April is kind of ugly around here. The snow is brown and melting.
I live across from the airport a ten minute walk to Buttermilk Mountain.

Do you think it will be in the 50's at night in DL/DCA?
I plan on bringing shorts and capris for the day time and jeans and fleece jackets at night. I need to remember to bring my umbrella and rain poncho home from work and pack it.

Temperatures are in the low 50's at night right now. When I got home Thursday night around 11PM it was 52. By April it should be in the high 50's if things are normal, but this has been a crazy weather year! Hopefully we're done with the rain and by the time you get here it's Sunny as Usual!

I stayed at a friend's house in Snowmass Village. We were going to a cousin's wedding in Denver and spent a week in Snowmass Village then went to the wedding. We had a really good time.

You should be fine with what you are packing. As long as you are bringing a light jacket for night. People just think CA is always warm, but once the sun goes down, it does get chilly. But it is so cold where you are, I am sure you can handle it. I think us Californians are wimps when it gets at all cold. We get used to the our nice consistent weather all year round. I live in San Diego so the weather is usually a little cooler during the day here than at Disneyland. I work by the beach so even in the hotter summer months, 5 days a weeks I am where it is nicer when it gets really hot inland.

I'm also less than 1/2 a miles from the beach so temps are pretty consistent where I live. DL is more inland so the hot is hotter and the cold can be colder, but there is something about the park itself that when it is very cold going through the turnstiles, magically the park is quite a bit warmer. I don't know how they do that!

Hi everyone! I thought I would post about Monday night's Dinner.
Kim and I will be having dinner with Nancy she is YellowMickeyPonchos on the boards. Nancy is also one of the DIS Unplugged west coast correspondents. I have only met her once briefly in December out at WDW. We have been talking to each other for awhile. I'm excited to be able to spend some time with her. She will also be at the Club 33 breakfast.

Here is a picture of her and I from December. It was so cold and windy I was wearing two Hoodies. Part of the reason I was so cold was I tore my Achilles Tendon after being on property for only 45 minutes and could not walk. I was either in a wheelchair or an ECV the entire trip.

We will be having dinner at Yamashiro/Pagoda Bar. It's less than a mile from the hotel. It is up a winding hill so they have an awesome view of Hollywood. I don't like seafood, but they have a few alternatives that I think I will like.

I don't know if this has been mentioned BUT if you see something in the curio cabinet in Club 33 that you think you'd like, don't wait until the end of the meal. They don't always have a huge amount of stock on hand and many times they can be out of some of the items.

Today I made our reservation for Yamashrio. I'm not sure what time we will get out of the Ellen taping, so I made our reservation for 7:30. I was thinking we could watch the sunset up there at the restaurant.

I really like Guy Fieri and hope he is doing a demo that first weekend.

What color are your scooters? Will they be decorated in some way? I know some people have a basket in front and the basket might have flowers on it.
Most of our breakfast's are between 7:00 and 8:00. I think we have most of Saturday to ourselves. From what I've read our tour ends around 10:30 or 11:00 on Saturday, this is past tours. Our tour might be a little different so we'll see when we are done. This might be the only time when I wish the tour would end a little early.

I didn't do the LGMH, John and Katherine did it for me. The closest Home Depot is around 180 miles from me. I have a good idea how they did it. They taped the entire paint chip to a sheet of paper and then printed my board name and Steamboat Willy on it. I think they test printed to see where it would print and then taped the paint chip in that spot. I then cut them out and laminated them.

Thanks for the tip! I love Robert Irvine also. I never miss an episode of Dinner Impossible. Either one of them would be great.

It is an exclusive "Members Only" club located inside Disneyland. Walt came up with the idea after the 64 World's Fair as a place to entertain dignitaries, but he never saw it open. The membership is extremely limited and several years ago the waiting list was closed because the people at the end of the list would never be offered membership during their lifetime. Members almost have to die to give up their membership.

It is a five star restaurant (although it is never rated, being a private club) with a full bar and extensive wine list, the only place in DL that serves alcohol. Google Club 33 and you will find a ton of unofficial sites from people who have dined there. I've been there, and it's awesome!

Guy Fieri is doing culinary demonstrations the first weekend of F&W. I can't remember now where I saw all the things that are scheduled for our weekend, but it will be a fun bonus to check it out. I'll be going back in May to work at F&W, being a "Cheezette" for a friend who will be doing a cheese seminar. I'm super excited to get the preview on our trip and then get to go back so soon.

Guy Fieri is doing culinary demonstrations the first weekend of F&W. I can't remember now where I saw all the things that are scheduled for our weekend, but it will be a fun bonus to check it out. I'll be going back in May to work at F&W, being a "Cheezette" for a friend who will be doing a cheese seminar. I'm super excited to get the preview on our trip and then get to go back so soon.

Hi! :wave2: Thanks for reading my PTR. There was a time that I didn't know what Club 33 was too. :crazy2:

It is an exclusive "Members Only" club located inside Disneyland. Walt came up with the idea after the 64 World's Fair as a place to entertain dignitaries, but he never saw it open. The membership is extremely limited and several years ago the waiting list was closed because the people at the end of the list would never be offered membership during their lifetime. Members almost have to die to give up their membership.

It is a five star restaurant (although it is never rated, being a private club) with a full bar and extensive wine list, the only place in DL that serves alcohol. Google Club 33 and you will find a ton of unofficial sites from people who have dined there. I've been there, and it's awesome!

I'm still debating on whether or not we want to fly out of ***. The airfare from DEN is just so much less, even if you factor in a hotel. I wish we did have a bit more snow this winter. We didn't get much at all down this way.

Where are you at? We didn't have as much snow this winter compared to the last few years. It was colder and more windy this year too.

I try to fly out of Aspen if at all possible. In January 2009 I flew in and out Denver. It took us 6 1/2 hours of treacherous driving to get home. :eek: After that trip I decided if it was possible I would fly out of Aspen.

From what I understand you guys were the exception to the rule. Most guests are not aloud to take pictures in the apartment. The guides do take a few pictures of us up there though and they give them to us.

Oh yeah! In fact I was at my computer reading DIS emails and checking the board. Last year I had Vertigo incident and for the first 10 or so seconds I thought the Vertigo thing was coming back, I thought I was feeling woozy, but then I could hear the large furniture creaking and realized that it was an earthquake! It went on a lot longer than most others, but we didn't have any problems, however I realize our TV is not stabilized. :scared1: We need to take care of that.

Don't you leave tomorrow for your amazing trip? I hope we don't have any big aftershocks once you're here! Hope you will be checking in online while you're traveling! I will love to hear about all the BSM Hollywood things.

I'm glad everything is Ok at your house. My cousin said he thought it felt like 35-40 seconds.

I don't leave till next week. I think by the time I arrive the aftershocks will be so small that we won't feel them, I hope.

I'm in San Diego. We were at my sister's house during the earthquake. It was the longest one I remember ever feeling. When we got back to our house all of our pictures on our wall were crooked and some things had fallen off shelves, but nothing broke.

I also just found out that my husband is going to a business lunch at Club 33 on April 17th. So I am thinking about driving up with him and hanging out at the F&W festival while he is at lunch.

If you see us say Hi!!!

Hey I don't know if you got a chance to check it out but Guy Fieri is going to be at F&W Fri & Sat doing a demo @3:30 both Friday and Sat. I'm going to try to be at the Friday one, I doubt it will happen because DP is a flake and lags like you wouldn't believe, but maybe we can get an autograph at the 4:30 session. We'll see, hope you Hollywood leg is as good as your DLR will be!

Hi everyone!:wave2: We have been so busy!! Monday was after we arrived we headed strait from the hotel to Ellen at the Warner Brothers lot. Ellen was a lot of fun. After Ellen we went over and had dinner at Yamashiro. It was a great meal.

Tuesday we hung out at the hotel and walked around Hollywood Blvd. Then we had our first official ABD meet and great and dinner.

Wednesday was the EL Capitan Theater, tour Jimmy Kimmel's studio, and the Jim Henson Studio. Plus we went to the Carol wood Barn in Griffith park. Then Kim was one of the lucky people to win two tickets to see Jimmy Kimmel.

Thursday was amazing! We went the Imagineering, the Disney Studios and DL/DCA!

We just got back from Disneyland. We only had two hours in the park. We rode HM, Nemo submarine ride and Space Mountain. We had a couple of funny things happen on Nemo and Space Mountain.

Tomorrow is Club 33!!!!!! We are meeting at 7:00AM so I'm off to bed.

i was missing your updates, but assumed that you were mega busy! We'll be at the VCG tomorrow as soon as I can get DP out of bed and going. I've just finished packing and am about to load up the car. I'd really like to see Guy Fieri's demo tomorrow, but I don't think she gets the time frame that we need to be there to get in! The line will start forming at 10AM! Anyways hope we meet up sometime during this weekend!

Glad you are having a great time. How much do you love your Guides, Michael and Jaime?!! Aren't they THE BEST? We love them!!! They made our week too.

I'm here at my grandmas in Las Vegas and was planning on starting my TR today but her Internet is not working. It worked fine last night, but it is not sending out a signal today. We were going to wait a few hours and then call the cable company and see if they could check it out.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday April 9, 10, 11.

I want too say I had the best time!!!!! This was a great trip for anyone who wants an inside look into the parks.

I went to work till 12:00PM on Friday. My friend Kevin was taking me to Denver after work and I was staying the night at his house and then flying to Las Vegas on Saturday. After work we drove to Denver it was pretty uneventful.

When I got to Las Vegas I just hung out and talked to my family. Went to IN-N-OUT for dinner and went to sleep.

Sunday after I woke up I asked my grandmother if I could barrow her Nikon D300 camera and of course she said yes. Then it was off to WalMart for some last minute items and I also went and got a haircut. Kim was in WDW at this time and later on that night while I was repacking we started to texted message each other. Her Magical Express was picking her up around 4:00AM so she decided to not sleep that night. They had extra magic hours till 2:00AM at the Magic Kingdom, so she went to the and texted me a play by play of what she was doing while I repacked. I tried too go to sleep around 12:00 but could fall asleep. I finally fell asleep around 2:00 I think.

At Walmart I saw a woman who was working there wearing this jacket.
It was her mothers and she worked at DL for 36 year. :worship: :worship:

Monday April 12

My alarm went off at 4:00AM so I got up and showered, dressed and got my hair done by 4:45. The cab driver should have been to my grandmas by 5:10 and he was late. He didn't show till around 5:30. So I got in the cab and thought I would check the weather on my iphone, by the time I looked up the cab driver decided to take the long way! I told him that he was going the wrong way and he offered to turn around and go the other way. I told him no because at this point it wouldn't help and to please just get on the interstate and take me to the airport. He then asked if I was late and I said I am now! After that he took me strait to the airport. I got t the airport checked in the grabbed a small coffee and the headed for security. I have never flown Southwest out of Las Vegas and they are in Concourse C only. So I get to the security are and they only have ONE person checking ID's and only two scanners for your carry on bags. So this took awhile. I get to my and grab the flatties for a picture and realize I left flattie Shanan at my Grandmas!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I had dumped the bag just as the taxi showed up and I thought I grabbed them all well, I didn't. So we board the plane for the short flight to Los Angles and I thought I would take a picture of the flatties in the window well, Shanan's husband Jason is up on the window and must have decided he didn't want to go without her and JUMPED!!! :eek:
Now I'm searching for flattie Jason and thinking I really can't be trusted with these poor people. So I can't find him and realize he must have slide into the row behind me so I start trying too see if I can see flattie Jason, NO LUCK!! :sad2: I know he must be there, but I stress out during the rest of the flight. I decide to take a few flattie photo's anyway on the plane and HOPE I stop losing them. :rolleyes1

After the plane lands and we can remove our seat belts I lean over the set and start looking for flattie Jason, I spot him under the guys foot next to the window. So I ask the man if he could please hand me the laminated paper doll under his left foot. The man looks down grabs it, takes a look and hands it to me with a real puzzled look on his face, I say thanks and put Jason back in the bag. Crisis over!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

So, I was planning on meeting Kim at her gate, but the way LAX is laid out you can't go from one terminal to another without having a ticket. I collect my bags figure out to get over to Delta's baggage claim. I walk in and see our ABD driver. We chat for a couple on minutes and then Kim sends me a text saying they are on the ground, I tell her where we are. I wanted a picture of her coming down the escalator, so I go over and wait and wait and wait after about 20 minutes she sends me a text saying they have not deplaned because they weren't ready for them. I think it was another 10 minutes before we saw her.

After that we go to get her bags, we waited about 15 or 20 minutes watching the conveyer go round and round while nothing came out. Then a man says that the bags are coming out of another carousel so we check it out and sure enough here comes her bag. They never did change the sign saying that that flights bags were at the other carousel. Off we go to the hotel.

We freshen up a little bit the head down stairs grab a cab and head for Warner Brothers and the Ellen Show. The cab ride was $18.00 with tip.

Part two of day one. Monday April 12.

We arrive at the WB lot and I call Karen to see if her, Katherine and John have eaten yet and they hadn't. We decide to eat at the WB Cafe. Karen said it was about a fifteen minute walk. Karen said the cafe was by where you check in for the WB VIP tour I say Ok we'll be there soon. After I hang up I tell Kim what the plan was, but we weren't sure where to go. So Kim and I ask the lady in the ticket both and she wasn't sure and said to ask the tour guide standing on our left. We go ask and he gave us direction and off we went. It was about 15 to 20 minute walk. Half way there Kim was complaining about the walk, it was pretty funny. I felt bad because Kim had not slept for about 34 or 36 hours at this point. I was wearing a pair of flats and they were hurting my heal while we were walking, we made a great pair. I was complaining about my heal and Kim about the walk. We finally arrived at the VIP area and I spot Karen, Katherine and John taking photos in the courtyard and run over and jump in Katherine and John's photo. They realize it is me and hugs are exchanged. I pull out the flatties and we spend a few minutes taking photos before we going and eat.

We all go in the cafe figure out what we want for lunch and get our food. They have a grill area where you can have hamburgers and steak sandwiches made. If you are in a hurry they had a chicken plate you can just grab. They had a panini area where they make them to order, also an area where you can make a garden salad or they could make a specialty salad for you. I had a cheeseburger, salad and a coke for $13.00. It was very good.

After lunch we headed over to the Ellen show. I did not bring my camera because I new you could not take any photos there. I figured I could use my iphone. Well, at this point my phones battery was almost dead, so I didn't get any photos. We arrive and Karen show the letter saying we are confirmed guests, then we all must show our ID. Karen then must go stand in line to get our seat numbers and the rest of us go sit down. I believe the area we are in is the Riff Raff Room. After about 15 or 20 minutes Karen comes back with our numbers. While waiting to be brought over to the studio they played the last Ellen show on the flat screen TV's on the wall. Then a guy came out and asked if anybody had talent. So the first woman can whistle 7 different ways, it was dumb. The next person I remember did a rap about Ellen and that was great. The other person I remember could juggle 3 apples and eat one while juggling. He was pretty good. Then we were lead across the street to the sound stage where her show is taped. It started to rain. Kim and I both had umbrellas so I pulled them out. We were outside for about 10 minutes before we could get inside. They had security at the like you would see in the airport. You had to walk thru the metal dector and they went thru your bag. After that they lined us up in order of our seat number. It took another 15 minutes before we were let in the studio. They studio is very large. We were pretty far up. They had 204 seats and we were in 149, 150, 151 and 152. Kim and I had a camera in our way. Kim could see the guest but not Ellen and I could see Ellen but not the guest. The guests that day were Kristi Alley, Cindy Lauper and Matthew Morrison from Glee. For 20 minutes before the show starts they get us up and dance. They have speakers on the floor about every 3 or 4 seats. Kim and I had a mic right in front of us, so anything we said the mic would pick it up. I decided it was my duty to cheer, clap, laugh and yell as much as possible. When the show was over I was surprised I could speak. During all the commercial breaks we all had to stand up and cheer and dance. I was sick of getting up and down by the time the show was over. And NO we didn't get anything on the show, not even a CD. I was hoping they would have No or Go on this show but no luck. I love that game.
When Kristi Alley came out the first thing I said was how good she looks. She has lost around 30 lbs and it shows. Cindy Lauper didn't sing, she was on to talk about Celebrity Apprentice. The Matthew Morrison from Glee seemed really nice. I really enjoyed the taping. Thanks Karen for getting us the tickets!!!!!!

After the show we were walking back across the street and Katherine asked "where do we get a cab" the smart ### that I am said over their where the cabs are. So, we grab a cab back to the hotel and we agree to meet at the hotel at 7:00 to head over to Yamishiro for dinner. Kim and I head up stairs I grab my camera and we head for Hollywood BLVD. We walk around the Hollywood and Highland center because I wanted to get Katherine some chocolate from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

We take a few pictures and then check out the people dresses like characters for money. There was Elvis, Batman, and Super girl all talking to each other. A creepy Minnie Mouse was there plus Jesus! It was pretty funny. The next day Snoopy was there and I don't think his outfit has been cleaned in 20 years it was really gross! I didn't take pictures of the because I didn't want to pay them. Kim and I were talking about Jesus
holding the flatties and having their pictures taken with him. We didn't do it.
We walk around and spot a bus tour that said Topless Fun. So we pull out a flattie because that is a perfect photo op.

After we freshened up we head down stairs. Nancy and Mary Jo were coming over to pick us up. We all meet in front of the hotel and off we go to dinner. The restaurant is up on a hill and has such a great view of Hollywood and LA. We all take a few pictures in front of the restaurant and then check in.

We were sat in the middle of the restaurant at a big round, but it was kind of in our own room. It was very dark and I hadn't figured out if the camera had a flash on it yet because it had a shoe slide for an external flash. So I didn't get any pictures of the group. John if you have pictures of us by the Gong please post them.
We had 8 of us for dinner. It was Nancy, Mary Jo, Kim, Karen, Chris, Katherine, John and me. Everyone one ordered Sushi for an App except John and I. I ordered Calamari for an App and it was REALLY good. I did not take a picture of it but here are a few of the Sushi dishes.

Everyone loved the Sushi. For dinner I had Chicken and brown rice with long beans. I ate every bit of it. It was sooo good.

Kim was across the table and had the ribs. She said it was very good. Form what everyone said they really enjoyed their food. I would love to go back. If you have a chance check it out. We settle the bill and all of us go out front and take picture. I had not figured out my grandmas camera at this point, so my pictures are not as good as I hoped they would be. After dinner we went back to the hotel and headed for bed.

Sounds like you had a great day. Did Ellen seem as nice as I think she is? Thanks for the Julie Andrews pic from Graumann's---my fav. That restaurant had an awesome view & the food looked yummy too!!!!

She didn't interact with us as much as I hoped. She seemed very nice just like on TV.
I planned on going back to Grauman's and take more pictures, but we just ran out of time. I would really like to do this tour again sometime.

Day Two, Tuesday April 13. Word of the day is Mickey Mouse and yes that is two words. I didn't make this up ABD did. The theme of the day is It All Started With A Mouse...

I woke up at 7:00AM and Kim was still a sleep. I didn't want to wake her so I tried to be quit while I showered. She woke up not long after I got out if the shower. While Kim was finishing getting ready I walked over to Starbucks and got coffee and a scone for me. Kim got coffee cake. After we ate we just relaxed in the room till around 12:30 then I said lets get up and do something.
We headed down stair and when we got in the lobby we saw ABD reception desk set up, so we went over and introduced ourselves to Jamie one of our ABD guides. Kim thought she would start off in the right foot with him and told him how stupid the ABD paddle was. It was pretty funny. We filled out what we wanted for lunch the next day and then we meet some other DIS'ers. It was the two Oscar's. After the two Oscar's Tonya and her Mom Carol walked up. We all talked for a few minutes and then Jamie took pictures of us. Jamie told us to meet up stairs in the mezzanine level at 3:50 for the meet and greet and dinner.

The Mel's drive-in of Hollywood has a fascinating and colorful history. It is located in the historic Max Factor building, a beauty salon whose client list at one time included Jean Harlow, Bette Davis, and most of the major movie actresses in Hollywood. Mel's now shares the building with the Hollywood History Museum, home of 5,000 Hollywood exhibits and artifacts such as Hannibal Lecter's cell and the sets of Moulin Rouge.

I had a French Dip with onion rings and a coke. Kim had a chicken sandwich with seasoned fries and a sprit. Here is a picture of my lunch.

After lunch we headed over to the Roosevelt Hotel. We walked in and went into the lobby area. The ceiling is so beautiful. I grabbed my camera and then a security guard came over and said "sorry you can't take pictures of the architecture"! He said we could only take pictures of each other. So I told Kim she need to climb up on the ceiling so I could take her picture. :rotfl2:
They were filming in the ballroom so we didn't get to check it out either. We went to go look at the pool area and I went the wrong way and we ended up outside so I said lets go. Next time I will take my time and look around. We did see the Shirley Temple steps though.

We went inside because I wanted a Soda Fountain pin. I asked the girl working if the had any Disney Soda Fountain pins in stock. She pointed some out, but they don't have any that say Soda fountain on them so I got another pin.

We then head over to Trastevere Restaurant for dinner and a Disney version of Jeopardy.

Part way through the app's they start the Disney Jepardy game. How they pick who will play is by asking questions and if you are the first to answer the question correctly you get to play. So Jim is the first to answer correctly, then Tracey gets then next question correct. Now this next party is a little fuzzy for me. I'm not sure if Bill gets part of the Matterhorn question correct or if he got a different question correct. The guy running the game asked a two part question about the Matterhorn Bobsled. The second part of the question started with " this ride has a baskeball court in it" and I raise my had really fast. Well, after I raised my had he calls on me and I say "oops I don't want to play" he then says "well, why would you raise you're hand"? Good question!!!! So he points at Kim so she can answer the question, but because of her vision she did not see him point at her. We all tell Kim he is talking to her. He must have said something to her that he was he was pointing at her and she tells him she is legally blind. This guy then doesn't let her answer the question and was going too move on. I hope Kim will tell this story because I'm not sure what really happened. After that happened Kim tells him that he never let her answer the the question and he lets her answer and she is the last person picked to play. So once everyone is up there he tells them the rules and you must hit the buzzer in order to answer. He starts asking questions and Kim never hits the buzzer and so he asked Kim some simple question like what is your name. She answers the question and he tells her she must hit the buzzer first. Kim hits the buzzer and answers the quest so she gets 10 points. This goes on for awhile and it is pretty funny because he was doing it to Jim or Bill also. He was trying to keep the game close. The end of the game was you had to sing the Mickey Mouse Club Song I think. Know one really wanted to sing so Kim did it and won the game. She got Mickey Ears that said THE BIG CHEESE.

Our dinner comes out and mine looks good, it's Veal with a lemon sauce, potatoes and vegetables. Kim's had Pasta with some kind of sauce.

Let me say mine looked good, but Kim's looked gross. We both take a bite and both were AWEFUL! Kim ate a couple of bites and that was it. I removed the lemon sauce and ate one piece of veal. It was tough and over cooked. The potatoes were very good. Kim's was Wheat pasta that was really under cooked. Kim said that when she looked around the people with the pasta did not eat it. Kim ate more of the app's and thought those were very good. The Tiramsu came out and it was not very good either. Kim and I decide we will go over to the Soda Fountain for Sundaes after dinner now that sounds good.

After dinner Matt has gifts for all of us, he made shirts. They were great!!! Thanks Matt.

I pick the lanyard and Kim picks the pocket thing. We then start talking to Michael and Jaime for quite awhile. After that we decide to head for the hotel for some reason and run into Karen then Pete and Walter. Pete had a bag with a container with food in it. I see this and say "I see you went and got some food". This starts off a hour conversation. By the time we finally get to our room and get over to the Soda Fountain it was closed!!!!!! So we head back over to the Hollywood and Highland Center looking for something sweet to eat. The things we saw that we wanted to eat were closed. So we head over to the bar at the Renaissance and they had Warm chocolate chip cookies with whip cream. They were sooo good. They were only $2.00. As we were eating we see Katherine and John walk in front of the hotel and start having a a smoke. We settle the bill and head for the front door to see what they are up too. Just when we get to the front door Katherine walks in and SHOUTS "I JUST HAD A SCREAMING ORGAZM"!! We look at each other and then look at Katherine and say SHHH!!!! She was talking about a drink. :rotfl: At this point Katherine was pretty drunk. She had a few drinks at U WINK that night. At some point John says that the refrigerator uses a weight sensor to charge you for items inside. We are like are you sure? He said he was going to the front desk to ask about it. After he talked to the front desk John tells us that they do use the weight sensor. Kim and I decide we need to talk to the front desk about this. The lady says yes that is how they charge for items in the refrigerator. Kim then tells the lady that they should have a note post so people don't pick stuff up and look at it or put stuff in there and then take it out. Our fridge did not have a lock and we went to go put water in there, but before we put the water in there we looked at a few things in the fridge.

The yogurt was from another guest and had never been removed from the fridge!

Day Two, Tuesday April 13. Word of the day is Mickey Mouse and yes that is two words. I didn't make this up ABD did. The theme of the day is It All Started With A Mouse...

We headed down stair and when we got in the lobby we saw ABD reception desk set up, so we went over and introduced ourselves to Jamie one of our ABD guides. Kim thought she would start off in the right foot with him and told him how stupid the ABD paddle was. It was pretty funny.

My first group thought that paddle was the bomb! (And other groups after us.) Everyone happily said how they would follow it anywhere. It would take us places no guest gets to see. If I saw that paddle at the park, I'd try to hitch a ride! :) LOL! Many wanted to get it as a pin. I wish ABD would do that! Anyway, looking forward to more of your report to see the additions to the tour this year. :)

Sorry the food at Trastaverte was soooo bad. I remember it being pretty good the night we ate there....but I think Eric & I both had fish of some sort. We didn't like the tiramisu either which is why we went for ice cream at the Soda Shop.

Love those extra pics....the nighttime shots of LA from that restaurant are fabulous.

I hope they fix the problem with the food there. I was looking forward too that meal. The food was not very good at the Soda Fountain for breakfast either. I wish I got the Mickey Waffel it looked sooooo good. After that breakfast the food was AWESOME! :goodvibes

Kim got up at 5:30 and I got up at 5:50. We had to meet on the mezzanine level at 7:00 for breakfast.

We were having breakfast at the Disney Soda Fountain. Before breakfast we got a short tour of the Hollywood and Highland Center. The HHC connects to Kodak Theatre. Jaime was talking about how they rig the lighting and all the curtains so they can hide all of the stores. The stairs are a very low rise, so when the woman can walk up the stairs in their gowns without tripping. He explained some other facts that I have forgotten. We then took a picture of the group on the stairs. I didn't give him my camera so I don't have a picture. We will get a CD of the pictures they took but it will take awhile. Kim was the first person on the reservation so the CD will go to her, then she will have to make me a copy and mail it to me.
Next we went over to Grauman's and Michael gave us some history about it.

The grand opening of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on May 18, 1927, was the most spectacular theatre opening in motion picture history. Thousands of people lined Hollywood Boulevard and a riot broke out as fans tried to catch a glimpse of the movie stars and other celebrities as they arrived for the opening. The film being premiered that night was Cecil B. DeMille's “The King of Kings,” which was preceded by "Glories of the Scriptures," a live prologue devised by master showman Sid Grauman. A Wurlitzer organ and 65-piece orchestra provided music for the prologue. The theatre opened to the public the following day, May 19, 1927.

Authorization had to be obtained from the U.S. government to import temple bells, pagodas, stone Heaven Dogs and other artifacts from China. Poet and film director Moon Quon came from China, and under his supervision Chinese artisans created many pieces of statuary in the work area that eventually became the Forecourt of the Stars. Most of these pieces still decorate the ornate interior of the theatre today.
The Grauman’s Chinese Theatre was declared a historic-cultural landmark in 1968, and there has always been a restoration program in process to maintain the theatre's beauty. Following the 1994 Los Angels earthquake, geological experts were brought in to inspect the theatre and advise the owners with regard to protecting and strengthening the entire structure.

The theatre has undergone a major renovation. Timed to coincide with the opening of the Hollywood & Highland mall and the new Mann Chinese 6 Theatre, the renovation was designed to rejuvenate and enhance the Chinese Theatre. Additionally, several earthquake retrofits were required to protect the structure and ensure its permanence. With this facelift, the Chinese Theatre will continue to be the preferred location for the industry’s most prestigious premieres for years to come.

I order scrambled eggs, sausage, english muffin and coffee. The english muffin was cold when I got it, but that was fine. The eggs I got were went and the consistency of cottage cheese. I kept moving them around the plate to get rid of some of the moisture. The sausage was hot and very good.

After breakfast they gave us time to shop. You get a 10% discount on everything you buy that day. Sine I bought my pin the day before I didn't shop.

After Shopping we walked thru a connecting door over to the El Capitan. Wow is this place beautiful. We walked in found a set and listened to Rob Richards play and talk about the "Mighty Wurlitzer" pipe organ. Let me say that this organ was just amazing. Every sound is an actual full size instrument. I just sat there with my mouth hanging open. This organ blows and surround I've ever heard away. Someone asked how long does it take to master the organ, he said a life time. Rob said he is still finding new stuff on the organ even now.

After the organ they played the Alice in Wonderland pre-show. It was very cool. Kim and I didn't have time to see a movie there, but it would be an Awesome place to watch a movie.

Next we went backstage. They talk pipes that make the Thunder sound and other various things.
We didn't have much time. Then we got to take a look at the costumes and set pieces that they have on display.

We were given a potty break and then walked next door to Jimmy Kimmel Live. The building where Jimmy Kimmel Live is filmed is an old Masonic Temple. This is a historic building and they really can't changed the building. We are not allowed to take pictures in the building. When you walked in the building on the right is a room with a fireplace. They had a stage setup for a concert for that nights show. On the left there was a green screen setup and a bar. We checked out the editing and production rooms and then we went to the greenroom. It was very cool. It was huge. They had a couple of nice sized dressing rooms , a rooThanksm with a pool table and arcade games, then a big room with flat screen TV's, couches and a bar. Then it was off to the studio. This studio was very small compared to Ellen's studio. We figured the only bad seat would be behind the camera. The guides were allowed to take our group picture on stage with their camera only. The last thing we saw was the outdoor concert stage, We were told all outdoor concert lighting is really indoor lights. They had to build a special rig so they could keep the light covered when not in use in order to get a permit from LA county.

I will have to finish this tomorrow because I left my charger for my computer at work.

I hope they fix the problem with the food there. I was looking forward too that meal. The food was not very good at the Soda Fountain for breakfast either. I wish I got the Mickey Waffel it looked sooooo good. After that breakfast the food was AWESOME! :goodvibes

You are right Tuesday's dinner was just aweful!

I got the mickey waffle and bacon and it was good!
However the waffle was cold, but the warm syrup helped that.
John got the eggs and sausage, and regreted it.

In my eyes:
Wednesday's lunch was just ok!
Thursday breakfast was very good!
and Thursday dinner was just ok.
Keep in mind this is just my opinion!

I have too say I loved the grounds of the Jim Henson studios. You could not tell that La Brea and Sunset Blvd were right outside of the gates. This was Charlie Chaplins Studio back in the 20's. I think construction was finished around 1919. A&M Records was also located here. Both versions on "We Are The World" were recorded here. Jim Henson's children bought the property in 2000 and is now the home of the Jim Henson Company.
First thing we did was get our picture taken in front of the Jim Henson sign.

We were then broken up into two groups. We were with Michael's group. We watched a short film then we were off to the Creature Shop. I was very sad that the Creature Shop is just full of computers now, so we didn't get to see it. We did get to see the entrance area in the building though. They set up a few puppets from different movies for us to see. They had a dog from Snow Dogs. The hamster from "Nutty Professor" I think. We saw Baby Sinclair from the TV show Dinosaurs. It was the baby dinosaur that said "Not the baby". Then he showed us the computer where they do the live animation. It was something you must see in person to understand.
We watched a movie on the history of the Henson company, then we were shown how they work the puppets. They use a TV to see where the puppet/Muppet is. Since it is on TV it is the opposite of what you are doing. I guess it takes a while to master it. Heather volunteered too learn how to work the puppet. We then watched another film, but this was a muppet film on the history of the property. It was very cute. Then we were off to lunch.
I had a Cheeseburger and a salad. Kim had Shrimp Pasta and a salad. Mine was very good.

As we were leaving I took this picture of the sign on the gate and it started to close on Kim and I. We were cracking up at the fact that taking a picture would cause the gate to close. Our next stop was the Carolwood Pacific Barn in Griffith Park. I loved it there. THe train ride was so much fun.
As a child we use to go to Griffith Park a few times a year. It is a very big place. The barn was not there when I lived in LA so it was nice to see it. Here is some info on the Barn and train.

Walt's barn in Holmby Hills

In 1950, Walt built the Carolwood Pacific Railroad in the backyard of his house in Holmby Hills, California. He named the railroad for the street where he lived: Carolwood Drive. The first run on the Carolwood Pacific Railroad took place on May 7, 1950. The 2,615 feet of track included a 46 foot long trestle and a 90 foot long tunnel under his wife's flower bed. Amidst the railroad, he had a barn built where he could monitor and remotely control the switches on the track. The barn also served as a workshop and a place for Walt and his friends to relax.
When the Holmby Hills home was sold, the new owners had plans to preserve the house, but discovered that due to structural issues and asbestos, they demolished the existing structures and built a new home. Fortunately, Walt's daughter Diane Disney Miller recognized the importance of the Barn and began the process of saving it before escrow closed. Diane contacted Michael and Sharon Broggie, founders of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society, who began planning what to do with the Barn. A general contractor, Bill Abel, was hired to dismantle the Barn and it was stored until an agreement was secured with the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Live Steamers Museum. It opened in Griffith Park as a loan to the people of Los Angeles on July 19, 1999, and is located inside the 1/8th scale track, the same scale that Walt had at his home.

Walt spent many hours in the Barn not only working on his trains, but thinking about new projects and ideas. One could say that this Barn is the birthplace of Imagineering.
Today, the Barn is in a beautifully landscaped part of the park, with several nice picnic tables and many benches. Bring your family and a picnic basket to enjoy your lunch and some Walt Disney, railroad, and Disneyland history. The Barn is small, but full of many interesting items to learn about, and lots of wonderful stories.
The Barn is open on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 11 am to 3 pm. Parking is free, and admission is free. Donations to the Los Angeles Live Steamers Museum are accepted.

I had a great time in Griffith Park. It was a nice change of pace. It was a beautiful day not a cloud in the sky. The ride on the train was so fun! Kim and I really enjoyed it. I would love to go back there again.

On the bus ride back Michael and Jaime said they had Twelve tickets for Jimmy Kimmel Live. They were going to draw names and you could take another person if you wanted. Now Kim and I really wanted to go and were wishing for some pixie dust. So they start drawing names and quite a few people didn't want to go and they only had three tickets left when they drew Kim's name! WOOHOO we get too go to Jimmy Kimmel!!! We only had about an hour before we had to meet in front of the building where it is taped. It's a good thing it is just across the street from the Hotel. When we got off the bus they were passing out the pins for the day. Some how Kim and I didn't see them doing it and we were so excited about Jimmy Kimmel we head for the elevator. When we got in someone was talking about the pin of the day and Kim I are like OH NO WE MISSED IT. So, we went back down ran out and just caught Jaime and Michael and got our pin.

We headed up stairs again freshened up and went across the street. We saw Heather and talked with her about where we thought Michael and Jaime would be. I saw Michael talking with one of the guys from the Jimmy Kimmel show. We headed over there. Michael introduced me to Link and he would be taking care of us till we got inside. They had us stand in a different line since we were guaranteed a seat. We had a family of four in front of us. I don't have any pictures because Kim and I decided we didn't want to check our cameras in at the door. I think we waited a total of thirty minutes outside before they let us in. Once we were let in we stood in the entry for another 20 minutes. Once we were let in they sat us. They must check out the people and seat them according to looks and clothing. we were in the middle upper part of the studio. On the show that night was Alyssa Milano, Jerry Weintraub and The Specials.
After Jimmey Kimmel all of us walked over to IN-N-OUT burger for dinner. I had a single cheeseburger with grilled onion, fries and a vanilla shake.

Ok some how I missed posting pictures of the Pipe organ!

After Shopping we walked thru a connecting door over to the El Capitan. Wow is this place beautiful. We walked in found a seat and listened to Rob Richards play and talk about the "Mighty Wurlitzer" pipe organ. Let me say that this organ was just amazing. Every sound is an actual full size instrument. I just sat there with my mouth hanging open. This organ blows any surround sound I've ever heard away. Someone asked how long does it take to master the organ, he said a life time. Rob said he is still finding new stuff on the organ even now.

We were really busy! After the ABD stuff we would all go out and do stuff too. The night I saw you at DL we were running over to Big Thunder. We stayed till closing that night.

I really enjoyed Walt's Barn too!!!!! It was just chock full of so much cool memoribilia. Love the t-shirt. It looks like the same volunteers that we had were there for you too. I loved the guy that did most of the talking.....he & I had a great chat about Ollie Johnston.

BTW, for the Ellen taping you can see us cheering in the audience for split seconds here and there; apparently there was a camera right behind us that was panning the crowd...unfortunately most of the show was pre-empted by an Obama announcement at the security summit :rolleyes1

I was watching the show yesterday and spotted us 4 times. The shots from the front were long
shots, so you needed to be looking for us to really see us. We were shown a lot more on Ellen than Jimmy Kimmel though.

I have decided to have a "Backstage Magic" do over vacation and it's slated for Oct 28th for 7 nights......at Disney World:).

more or less, here is what I have so far:

Oct 28th: La Nuba
Oct 29th: MNSSHP (never been to it & looking forward to it)
Oct 30th: Epcot
Oct 31st: Keys to the Kingdom tour
Nov 1st: Magic behind our steam trains
Nov 2nd: Am character brkfst at AK, then onto Hollywood studios
Nov 3rd: Dinner at Narcooses (for the perfect "Goodnight Kiss") so I can see the fireworks at MK
Nov 4th: Havent figured it out yet.
Am thinking real seriously about doing a trip report on this as it would give me an excellent opportunity to have WDW and such be shown in a professional way as it would also provide me an opportunity to compare the 2 presentations popcorn::.

And I just e-mailed my travel agent, got the Ireland trip now secured.....with CEI International.:goodvibes
Ordered my money belt & clothes line just today.

I'm so glad that you are going to have a do over trip!!! I think you will have a great time at WDW! I'm head to WDW on Wednesday for a trip with great friends!! Then I'm back in Sept/Oct for the Wine and Dine race. I have never done the Backstage tours at WDW, but have heard they are really good. Where are you staying when you are there?

Your plan sounds great. After seeing the trains at DL I would like to do the Magic behind our Steam Trains too at WDW.

I went to MNSSHP in 2008 and loved it. You'll have a great time.

I really would like to do the Ireland trip too. I will have to see what you think about it when you get back.

Day Four April 15. Theme of the day is "Making the Magic". The word of the day is "WED Enterprises".

Once again it was a early morning. Breakfast was at Twist Restaurant. It was in the Hotel and a Buffet. It was a great meal.

After breakfast we got on the bus and headed over to Imagineering. I have been waiting to go here for a long time. My uncle was an Imagineer for Disney in the 90's and until her retired in 2005. He worked on many rides, but the one I like the most is Indiana Jones. The things he worked on were the big doors that open as you enter the ride, the flames, the spiders, the puff of air too simulate the arrows going by your head, the ball that rolls at you. Next time you ride look at the walls when you are rolling back before the ball rolls forward, because the vehicle is not moving, it is the walls that are moving. Back to Imagineering.... On the bus was a new guide Joey. He was a higher up at ABD and sent to make sure the rest of our trip went well. He was very nice and seemed very sweet. The guides explained that we needed to vote on whether we wanted to take time out of lunch so we could have longer to shop or leave the time at 1/2 hour for shopping. Everyone voted on shopping longer.

We arrive at Imagineering and were told you must leave all cameras in the bus. We waited out front for our guide Dave and our Guest pass that we must wear at all times. Dave took us inside so we could watch a movie about the history of Imagineering. When that was over we all stood up and Dave said he had a special guest that wanted to meet us, it was Lucky the Dinosaur. I have been wanting to see Lucky for a few years and new I would on this tour. I had tears in my eyes when I saw him. I understand that he is not real and is Animatronic, but the child in me forgets and believes he is real. So I think Miguel was called up to meet Lucky and get his Autograph. His Autograph is a four leaf clover. Everyone was allowed to come up and get their photo taken with Lucky. Kim and I got a picture together and separate. Lucky is made of some kind of foam and is very soft I was over the moon after meeting Lucky.
We were then split up and our group went to the Sculpting Room first. When we walked in I went and stood in front the Animatronic Joe Cocker. I had seen it on YouTube from the D23 Expo and was hoping we would see him in action. We saw a Cast of Johnny Depp for his Animatronic for Pirates of the Caribbean Ride and he talked about some other stuff then introduced us to Joe. It was really fun seeing this Animatronic doing his thing less than a couple of feet from my face. Here is a link to the YouTube video. They had the heads working also for us.

Then he started talking about the Original Snow White Marble Statues that are in the room, was interrupted by the other group waiting their turn in the room. They decided that they would tell the story when all of were together. So off we went to the Sound studio where we took a seat and put on headphones and were explained what Binaural Recording was and was played an example of a Binaural Recording. They turned off all the lights so you had too focus on the sound. It was very cool. Next we went back and hear the story of the Snow White statues. Here is a very short version. They were not a gift from an anonymous person like has been said for years, they were commissioned for Disneyland. After quite a few years out in the elements they were showing signs of wear. They were replaced and the originals were placed in crates and stored in a warehouse till one day a worker was moving the crates around and the one holding Snow White fell and she broke into pieces. She was fixed and and that is when the idea of placing them in the sculpture room permanently. We then were broken up into our groups so we could have our group photo taken with the sculptures. Next we went into the room where they make all the architectural models. It was very cool. We saw the model for Fantasyland. We were told that what was revealed at D23 Expo is not what Fantasyland is going to be like. They were getting ready to dismantle the model. What I remember was that they were not going to have as many Princess meet and greets as first planned and were going to put more rides in. Thank goodness for that!
I kept turning and looking at these HUGE pieces they were making that looked like they were 10ft high and reminded me of the brooms in DHS in Florida from Fantasia. Finally someone asked what they were for, David said they were going in the new Disney Dream Cruise Ship. Very cool, now I can't wait to sail on her so I can see where they end up.

After that it was off to Mickey's of Glendale the Imagineering store. It was funny seeing everyone run around like chickens with their heads cut off buying stuff. I on the other hand decided I would only spend $100.00. We had a coupon for 40% off one item. I chose a sweatshirt for the 40% coupon. I got pins and a T-Shirt. I bought pins for my friends as gifts. They will be receiving them next week while I am in WDW with them. The winners of most money spent was John and Katherine. I walked by John at one point and looked in his hand cart and it was half full of pins! Maybe he will be nice and post some pictures of what they bought. I will take pictures of the Sweatshirt and T-Shirt and post them later, but here are the pins.

The guy who did the presentation was OK, but it was not the same as Dave. I will post a link to a YouTube video someone did of the D23 tour that Dave did. We saw everything that Dave showed. Then after we saw the the items we were allowed to have our picture taken with one of Walt's Oscars. The one difference between Dave's tour and this one was that Dave played the bird that Walt found on the trip to South America that inspired his to make the first Animatronic. After most people left he played the bird for the few of us left. It was very cool. I tried to get a video of it with my Iphone, but must have turned it off because when I played it back there was nothing. Then we went and took pictures of the multiplane camera and a restroom break.

Now we are off then to have lunch at the Studio commissary. We only had 15 minutes to get our food! We had spent so much time shopping that we almost missed lunch. Kim and I ended up having Panda Express. It is a fast food Chinese Place. Because it was now only 10 minutes till close we didn't have much to choose from. I couldn't wait to see Legends Plaza. Getting to see the Partners statue up close is pretty cool. We did get a group picture taken with the partner statue, but I won't have it till we get the CD from ABD. The CD will be sent to Kim and then I must wait fir her to make me a copy and send it to me.

The one difference between Dave's tour and this one was that Dave played the bird that Walt found on the trip to South America that inspired his to make the first Animatronic. After most people left he played the bird for the few of us left. It was very cool. I tried to get a video of it with my Iphone, but must have turned it off because when I played it back there was nothing.

I noticed it was taking a long time and went too see what was up. They didn't show us and others as staying an extra night. I went over and asked Jamie if he new what was going on and he said he new about it and don't worry they would take care of it. I told Kim what Jamie said and we got our keys. Then Jamie explained to everyone that was staying an extra night, that they would have to come down stairs and recheck-in and get our keys rekeyed. We were not happy about that. We then decided to go to the room because we had about 45 minutes before we were to meet for dinner. Jamie and Joey saw us and asked if everything was OK. Kim explained it was a pain too have to come back on Sunday and have our keys rekeyed. I have to say that they listened to us because during our last dinner on Saturday they had new keys for everyone staying and they checked us in for Sunday and gave us the new keys. Kudos them for taking care of this. :thumbsup2

So we head over to our room and I start taking pictures of the room and I went outside and took pictures of all of us looking over the balcony. John is hanging off the balcony asking if the other DVC owners received a gift bag. I asked Kim if she got one and she hadn't. I told her I would complain to DVC about it. Off she went to the DVC desk. She talked to them and they didn't know what she was talking about. They didn't know of any gifts left for guests. We found out by Heather the next day that it was left their by one of her friends for Katherine and John and not DVC, they didn't read the card she left with the bag. Kim felt bad that she went and complained about not getting a gift bag when DVC had nothing to do with it.

These were the wines we could try. I don't like wine so I didn't have any. Kim tried them and really liked one of them. I think it was the Dr. Loosen wine. I just had a coke.

I forgot to take a picture of my salad!

My steak came and it looks small for a New York, but it's not a big deal since we had a lot of apps. I cut it open and it is not cooked how I like it. I ordered it Med-Rare. It was WELL DONE. It was like cardboard. I tell the waiter and he brought me a new steak and it was perfect.

The dessert was very yummy! I could only eat about a quarter of it because I was so full.

At this point it was around 8:45 and we really wanted to get to the park. I used my iphone to check park hours and DL was open till 11:00 and DCA was already closed. Not long after we talked about asking for our park hopper and leaving the guides announce we are heading over to DL for some park time.

Yay! you made it to the GCH, so you were in the part of the hotel that overlooked the Monorail and DTD? What was your room number? No wonder we had no chance of running into each other at the hotel, the DVC rooms are completely on the opposite end of the hotel!

We were in 4315 I think. It was a great view! Kim said when she stayed at GC before the room was smaller then this room. I had thought the room would be smaller too. It was a nice surprise that we had more room than we thought we would. I really like the room.

We were so busy on Thursday and Friday. I didn't take as many picture as I thought I would. We were so busy I had too remember to take pictures. :eek:

We were both dead tired every night. I did not have any problem sleeping.

We are off to the front of DL. They are going to pass out our park hoppers to us there. As we are standing and waiting they tell us that they have a fastpass for everyone that can be used for any fastpass ride that night. THen they tell us that they are going to take us the thru the exit of the Haunted Mansion so we don't have to wait in line. THe other surprise is that they have two subs for us if we want to ride The Nemo Submarine Ride and we won't have to wait! WOOHOO!

They pass out both the park hopper and fastpass ticket.

The park was packed because everyone was lined up and waiting for the fireworks. I love that the marquee says Traffic Trouble. :rotfl: They got that right!

Once we got there they really didn't need to bring us thru the exit because NO one was inline. The fireworks were going off at that time. They took us thru the exit anyway. We all ride Haunted Mansion and were told that we were the only people on the ride while we were in the Haunted Mansion.

Next we were off to Nemo. I had not been on this yet. I had been on the old Submarine ride, but it had been at least twenty years since I had rode it. This is the end of our night with the guides. We are given our pin of the day and say goodnight.

So 40 adults board the sub and we are off to the land or should I saw Ocean with Nemo.

We don't get very far when we hear a loud thud and the sub shakes. I'm sitting right below the sub driver and we over hear him talking to someone and saying that the sub "flew up in the air"! The person says back "just keep going". :scared1: We were cracking up, but a little worried. Then we hear John say "there is water around his feet" and we all start laughing till we hear the thud again. Later on we realize that we must have weighed too much because we didn't have any children in the sub with us.

Next up was Space Mountain. We all go to to Space Mountain for a ride. I had not been on it since they redid it and I was excited about it. We use our fastpass and it was about a 15 minute wait. We board and off we go for a ride into space, at least we thought. We were taken off to the left and stopped in front of a BIG BLACK CURTIN. Kim and I were wondering what was going on? THen a CM brought over a metal ladder and Tonya and I can't remember who else was in front were taken off. Then the next row was taken off. When they got to the next row we could hear the CM say that we were over the weight limit!!! OMG this was one of the funniest thing to ever happen to me at the parks. :rotfl2:

This is when we realize what had happened on the Submarine ride. We were hitting the bottom because we were over weight. These rides were not made for just adults to ride them. We didn't have any kids with us on this trip. So we are all cracking up and making comments about how we need to lose weight. The CM then tells us this happens all the time, none of us believe her though. We had to split up in order to ride. I love the Space Mountain at DL. It was a much smoother ride and like having the music. After this we decide we are done for the night. It was such a great day!

I don't know how to explain what a great day this was. If you are a person who loves the parks and is interested in the behind the scenes you should try and do this trip. It was worth the money.

Next up Club 33, Walt's Apartment, the Lilly Belle and a surprise from ABD.

We were suppose to have Wine tasting at The Wine Cellar and Dinner at Hook's Point, but ABD had a surprise for us, we were eating at Steakhouse 55!

You guys got some awesome upgrades on this trip, when did you arrive? Thursday night? We ate at Steakhouse 55 on Friday which must have been the night after you guys were there!

Yeah, it was Thursday when we ate at Steakhouse 55. They really tried hard to make this a special trip for our group. It really was an awesome trip. It went by so so fast, before I knew it the week was over and it was time to leave DL! :sad1:
The next time I'm at DL I would like to try Steakhouse 55 on my own. I would like to pick something off the menu. I'm sure it is very hard to feed 47 people at one time. They did a great job though.

So I'm not sure if you want to tell your story about what happened with your luggage? It is your story so if you want to tell it, it might be helpful to other people who go on the trip.

I'm still planning on doing a trip report so I will give the Readers Digest version.

When we got back to our room at 11:30 that night and opened our door to find our room empty.

Our luggage was lost!!!!

It never arrived at the hotel. I have a few theories on what happened but essentially it never made it on the ABD bus and Mom and I were without out luggage until 6 pm the next day when we had to retrieve it from Bell Services ourselves. Our Guides were somewhat helpful that night but essentially dropped the ball in some aspects. They brought us a bare basics toilitries kit and two t-shirts to sleep in that night but by the time it was determined that our luggage was not at the Grand Californian at 1:30 am it was too late to do much. I was not a happy camper to be wearing the same underwear the next day. Not. One. Bit. (This is when I need a foot stomping, arm crossing, bottom lip pouting princess smiley)

Kim said that South West Splendors she checked her room to make sure they took her luggage. If you are worried leave breakfast a little early and check and make sure they took your luggage. If they take your luggage and don't put it on the bus then checking your room won't do any good though. I was very happy when I heard they found your luggage.

Thank you for saying we handled it well. Both Mom and I were exhausted from only getting a few hours of sleep. I was a bit teary in the morning but was trying to be a good sport about it since I was at Disneyland and going to Club 33. My one consolation in the entire ordeal was that the guides got less sleep than we did that night. :rolleyes1

And trust me when I say that if they hadn't recovered the luggage, our Guides would have seen both my Inner Princess and Julia Sugarbaker unleashed and they would have trotted themselves over to Downtown Disney to buy me all new makeup at Sephora and a replacement Dooney & Burke bag plus a trip to the mall for new shoes, clothes - and underwear.

The one thing that saved the Guides is that when we were packing our luggage before we left for breakfast I convinced Mom to put her medicine in her carry-on bag and not the luggage. Mom has to take her cancer meds at the same time each morning - I would have been all over their butts and down their throats if she had put her meds in the luggage. They would have been waking up doctors and pharmacists all over Southern California to fix that problem.

So we head over to our room and I start taking pictures of the room and I went outside and took pictures of all of us looking over the balcony. John is hanging off the balcony asking if the other DVC owners received a gift bag. I asked Kim if she got one and she hadn't. I told her I would complain to DVC about it. Off she went to the DVC desk. She talked to them and they didn't know what she was talking about. They didn't know of any gifts left for guests. We found out by Heather the next day that it was left their by one of her friends for Katherine and John and not DVC, they didn't read the card she left with the bag. Kim felt bad that she went and complained about not getting a gift bag when DVC had nothing to do with it.

I felt soooo bad after finding out the gift bag came from Missy (Tothesea) and not DVC. THANK YOU MISSY!!! :goodvibes
But, in our defence, the front desk TOLD us it was from DVC, and to this day, we have never found the tag in any of our "stuff".
Wish I had a pic of it, it was very well done, and quite honestly, I had no doubt it was something DVC would have gave out.

OH! And congratulations Missy on becoming a DL CM!!!

Check in at the Grand was different for you guys & looked way more chaotic. When we got there, there was a CM with folders for us & they got our credit card for incidentals & we got our keys & it took almost no time. Wonder why they have changed that? And we had to go to the front desk Sunday to re-check in for our extra nights which was not a big deal really-or problem was they didn't show our DVC reservation for the room-so we had to go get our confirmation & then one of our guides dealt with it so we could go on to breakfast. That was our only issue the whole trip.
Funny you guys got the out on the balcony pics of your fellow adventurers too. I was cracking up when we all ended up on the balconies @ the same time.:laughing:
We were exhausted at the end of that day too...........it's just go, go, go on this trip!

Day five Friday April 16. Theme for today is "Walt's World". Word of the day is"Attraction".

Today is Club 33 day!!!!!!!!

We had to get up early again today. We were meeting in the lobby of the GC at 7:00am. Breakfast at Club 33 starts at 8:00am, but before breakfast we get to take pictures in front of the castle before the general public is let in.

Kim and I get down to lobby around 6:55. We leave the lobby around 7:10, and the walk thru DTD was pretty empty. When we get to bag check there was already a line!!!! These people are crazy!!!!!!!!!!

We get to walk by them and go wait in the plaza in between DL and DCA.
It was pretty cool being the only people there except CM's.

These next three pictures are pretty funny. I was the last one to ask for my picture in front of the castle. Michael asks if I wanted to do a different picture and I say what do you mean? He said jump up like they do at the end of movies like Grease. I said sure! Now I should have had my camera set on manual because it couldn't focus and take the picture on Automatic. If John is around later this week maybe he will pst the Video of Michael and I sort of jumping together. It was pretty funny.

Jamie told us to check these guys out, that they will give us a hard time. He was right. They made a big deal about hurrying and getting behind chain. I think they said the other people better hurry or something. Kim and I were like these guys need to lighten up. You would think that they new we are allowed to be there.

Those security guys were just awful. They were acting like we were criminals and late for the boat to Alcatraz. And to top if off, they followed us!!!!! I saw the guy in the hat lurking around New Orleans Square when we left Club 33. That was over 2 hours after we entered the park. They were acting like we were hoodlums off the street. Made me appreciate the friendly WDW Security a little bit more. :thumbsup2

Here is the line waiting to get our merchandise. I want to say that these poor people were not ready for us. They had merchandise, but trying to get it was the most disorganized thing I've seen in a while. We were supposed to have Club 33 for our group till 10:00. Kim and I got in line around 8:15 and at 8:40 she had finally got to place her order. I wasn't worried because we had an hour and twenty minutes before we had to leave. Then Joey comes up and says we need to leave by 9:15!!!!! All of us were saying NO WE have till 10:00! Joey said we need to be at our next location by 9:30. We were not happy. I told Kim to please eat for me because I was not leaving till I got my merchandise!!!!! Kim went and sat down and about 8 minutes later they took my order for my merchandise. Just before that they decided it would be faster if they took our order and then we went and sat down to eat, then they would bring our stuff to us.

Just as I sat down with my food and started eating Pete announced that the boys (guides) made some calls and we didn't have to leave till 9:45!!!! I wqs so excited because now I could take some picture of Club 33.

The waiter comes over and asked if it was Kim's birthday. Kim said No it wasn't. Then the waiter said he was told that someone at our table was having a Birthday, so we ask and everyone said it wasn't them. The waiter then said we could just keep the dessert. I ate a little of it and it was REALLY GOOD!

Jamie said they act like that every time they come with the ABD group. They need to get a clue. Jamie said that on a prior tour when they moved the chain people/person made a run for it. :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm not sure where they thought they were going, maybe they thought they would be the first inline for Space Mountain. :rotfl2: Now just because some idiot did that doesn't mean everyone is going to do it. It would have been funny if we all rushed them:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Before we left Club 33 Kim had said that she liked the POLO Shirt and I told her to go buy it. She said it's $65.00 for a Polo. I told her that she may never come back in here and this might be her only chance to buy it. I am always ready to spend other peoples money. Before I left she decided to get the Polo Shirt. I got the Polo also and really like it.

Are you at DL now? How was F&W this weekend, did you see any good Chef's?

I was very bummed, Sunny Anderson was supposed to be there and she had a family emergency. I actually went out Friday to see her, that was the only day I could have seen her. Saturday I had a funeral to attend, and Sunday was the day my friend had made a lunch reservation for me, my DP and some friends at Club 33. This was the one we had been planning for months. We left this morning after gorging ourselves Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Last night we reheated leftovers (that I brought from home). It was still a great time, but I wish Sunny Anderson could have made it out.

Have fun in WDW! I'm jealous! I won't be back there for a long time and even though I get to go to DL a lot, I still like WDW too!

Ok I need a friend like you have that can make me Club 33 reservations. I'm so jealous!!!

I most likely won't be back to DL till 2012. If I can swing it I might go back in December next year. The park looks so beautiful with all the holiday decorations.

Sorry to hear about your friend and Sunny. :hug: Maybe Sunny will comeback next year.

It was actually DP who knew, she knows Waaaaaay more trivia than I do, but she pays real good attention whenever we're places (like Club 33) and they tell us stuff like that. She's been there more than me and likes to give "mini tours" to our friends like this last weekend. She loves to tell people who don't know about the microphones on the times that we've been able to go with friends.

My first comment to the waiter when he put it on the table was "Where is the other half of my steak?"
Oh, and that is 2 asparagus spears, 1 smaller-than-a-golf-ball potato, and a small dollop of mashed potato under the steak.
If this meal was not part of our tour and I had been paying for it myself, something would have been said, I assure you.
I guess the whole "upgrade from Hooke's Point" was worth it though in the long run, as the steak (although small) was very good.
