Any suggestions for which building (and room?) for the Mansions section of Port Orleans Riverside? Will be one adult travelling with 9-1/2 year old. Getting a standard view room. I think I want first floor, non-smoking, pretty close to the main bus stop, themed pool, and food court. Which buildings did you like and why?

The mansions aren't *close* to the main stop. But it's not like it's a far walk.
We were in Magnolia Terrace, which is right next to the bridge you cross to walk to the main pool, and to get to the main bus stop.
If you were facing Magnolia Terrace, the left side would be closest to the quiet pool, the main pool and the walk to the central area.
Magnolia Terrace is pretty big. If you were on the opposite side, it still would not be far, but a lot further than you might expect.
Magolia Terrace also has a bus stop directly behind it.
The room we had was on the corner left backside of Magnolia Terrace.

I agree with luv2roam about the main bus stop. The other stops are much more convenient.

Everyone requests Magnolia Terrace. We did, and we didn't get it. We got Acadian House, which was very nice. Its a little further than Magnolia to the pool and main building, but its not bad. Its very easy to catch a bus at the north depot.

Oak Manor is supposed to be the smoking mansion.

We did stay at Parterre Place once. It really isn't convenient to anything. Its the longest walk to the main building, to the pool, and it isn't close to any bus stop.

Here is a map of the resort:

We requested Parterre Place on the side with the quiet pool. It looks like a short walk over the bridge to the main bus stop from there. It isn't a very popular choice so we expect it to be fairly quiet during value season!

We stayed at parterre Place in June and we were on the side by the quiet pool and the walk to the main food court area was just over the bridge not far at all, I would even walk early in the morning for coffee by myself.

I'd request Magnolia Terrace - Poolview or Waterview - that way you would be closer to the Bridge to the main pool and the
main bus stop. We stayed there in April and had a pool view and always walked over to main bust stop - about a five min walk.
Very enjoyable!

I agree about the Acadian House. The north depot is right there, and was much easier to get a bus from than the main depot. The only time I really had to wait much for a bus was at the main depot. I know you are thinking first floor, but I would suggest 2nd, simply so you don't hear the people above you. Even the "parking lot" view at POR is spectacular, as there is lawn and gardens between you and the parking lot.

The Acadian House was a short walk to the food court and pool, was quiet, and has that cool butterfly garden and house out back, along with a nice fountain courtyard out front. I looked at the other mansions, and was very happy that I ended up at AH.

We stayed in Magnolia Terrace, standard view. Our room faced the center courtyard on the parking lot side, about 10 doors down from the parking lot. It was very quiet and there were pretty rose bushes outside. We were on the first floor. Quick walk to the bus stop. Food court was about a 5 minute walk, main pool less than that. I would first request courtyard view, some of the rooms facing the parking lot were very close to the cars, this would probably be true in all the buildings.

We were in Acadian House, 2nd floor parking lot view. We loved it. We were less than 1 min across the parking lot to the bus depot and it only took us 5 mins to get to the main building. That was walking leisurely (sp?) after dinner back to our room. We are going in Sept and I hope to get the same area.
