For the second time, I have decided to cancel my FW plans to stay in a Resort solely because Disney would not add the dining plan to my FW reservation. I am military so I am using the ticket deal separately. It makes zero sense. I am staying at Pop Century so Disney is losing money as the campground is actually a little more expensive than Pop Century with the 40% discount. I just don't understand it.

I spent several weeks last year arguing with customer service about the DP. If I would buy the tickets from Disney they would be glad to include the DP but if not it wouldn't work. We chose to get our tickets at SOG and pay for meals but I wrote and told them what I thought. Then when I got the survey after the trip I let them have it. Interestingly enough I never got a response. Obviously it's still about the money to them not really caring about the military men and women.

I'm confused. To do the dining plan, you have to have at least one day in the parks. I've never had a problem adding the dining plan and staying at FW (and I also use the military ticket promotions). It sounds like you are getting bad information from somewhere.

Edit: Well, come to think of it. The one time we actually used the dining plan, we only had a couple of days left on our military tickets, so we bought a couple more days at Disney. That may be the difference.

Yep, there doesn't seem to be a way to add the dining plan to any rate without purchasing at a least a one day ticket. For those that don't use the military tickets, that is really not a problem, because we all then use that one-day ticket to upgrade our tickets at a later date, but I don't even think the military tickets you can purchase have that option.

We have some friends that use military tickets, and just let the one day tickets collect when they do get the dining plan, and use them as is for short weekend trips.

I thought if you bought at least one day's tickets you could get it. Am I wrong?

I am retired military and I have used the ticket deal last year and this year in April. I have to be honest....DP and FW doesn't really work for us. So I don't want it anyhow. I get tired of eating out everyday. We usually grill a steak and few hotdogs for a dinner. And go off property a few times. It is cheaper.

I sure hope you enjoy your time anyhow!!!! Thanks for serving.

When they talk about the Military plan, It says retired or active. My son served 7 years in the Navy but got out last year. I don't think he is concidered retired and he is not active. So this would not include him?

We are not going to be staying onsite this year. However, last year we did when Disney offered the military deal. We were able to get the 40% off and buy the dp without buying tickets. Even this year when I called to price it, I was told I could still add the dp without buying the park tickets because I was going to get them from SOG. I suggest if you really want to stay at FW call back until you can talk to someone else. All of their literature states that you can do this.

We have spoken to at least 5 Disney reps on the phone, and two agents at our post's ITR office to no avail. If you were able to swing it, I commend you on being a better haggler than I am :)

Actually, all their literature states you must buy a Magic Your Way package in order to get the dining plan. I would refer you to the Disney web site. If you got the dining plan with a 40% discount on the campsite and purchasing tickets separately at SOG, it most likely was an accident.

I booked our summer trip and told them we are using military tickets. They gave us 40% off of a room at ASM and we were able to add the dining plan. They did say that we would need to show our id's at check in. :goodvibes

We've stayed three times using the 40% off and got the dining plan without buying tickets (we get in free with a CM). We are staying again in July and when I booked, the agent asked if I wanted to add the dining plan and said as long as we stayed using the military 40% discount, buying tickets were not necessary. If we used the other discounts available (including the promo they're running now) then we would have to buy tickets.

We are booked for 9 nights in June at the POP Century. We are using the military 4 day ticket and not buying any other tickets. We got the 40% off our room plus the dining plan, with no problem.

We stayed at CBR last year. Took the 40% off, bought the military tickets and bought the dinning plan. As long as we were using the military offer, we did not have to have a one day ticket.
