<Steps onto soap box>

All day I had been about to pull the trigger on a Pentax K-7 from Amazon at $999.95 but waited...

when I got home and pulled it up they had raised the price to $1109.99.

$110 higher in just a few hours! :scared1:

:headache:

A few days before that it was deal of the day for $899.

Make up your mind, Amazon! You're killin' me!

Stupid question maybe...but why the K7? Have you looked into the KX, which I think starts at a cheaper price retail, and seems to outperform the K7 in a few areas?

Not criticizing...you may have an excellent reason or key feature needed with the K7...it only caught my attention because of the price you are mentioning, when the KX is so cheap relatively speaking.

The only thing the Kx does better that would matter to me is noise/low light performance (for dark rides at WDW, of course). Other than that I want the higher end on everything else. If I'm spending the money to upgrade I'm going to get the highest model I can get (from Pentax, not switching brands).

I wouldn't mind having a Kx as a backup, though, and for specific use in those low light situations, perhaps.

Cool...just wondering! Sometimes the higher end features might be quite necessary, so no qualms about it - it's just that hearing so much love for the KX, it was surprising to hear the K7 pop up again. There are plenty of Sony folks in that same boat - the A500/550 not having enough of the high end features they needed, so they either look for the last of the A700s or await its replacement. I admit the only thing I really wouldn't mind having on my A550, which otherwise suits all my needs, would be a weather-sealed body. Good luck on your search for the right price!
