Look to start collecting

What does everyone think I should collect? Personally I like snow globes. But being a guy I don't think they would bode well until I'm at least out of college and calmed down some. I see Pins are popular. Can anyone explain to me what makes these popular and what exactly are they? I have a print from Disney of Mickey that has no date. However I know it either came from the MK or a Disney store as those are the only 2 places my grandmother would've bought them from. Are prints relatively affordable?

Er, pins are very addicting. The reason for us? Each pin means something we have done, or where we have gone. We can look at one of our pins, and remember back to what we did or where we were when we got it. In fact, we have our first lanyards still intact, and have a pin from where we stayed, and every ride we did our first day. They are not that expensive, and easy to display. Prints, and reprints are not expensive, and are also nice.

I just don't know anything about pins due to me not being to Disney since 1996 at the 50th anniversary. I went back last week and was completely lost when I saw all of the pin signs. Had no idea what they were. Would've asked there but I was on a very limited schedule.

I recently got into pin trading as well, and I asked similar questions before I went to WDW in December. The advice I was given: Pick characters and/or themes that mean something to you personally and collect all of those or ones that appeal to you. In my case, my favorite characters are Scrooge McDuck, Stitch and Buzz Lightyear, and I am a Star Wars fan, so I collect most of those character pins and then any Disney oriented Star Wars Pin (not the SW characters per se, but like the Disney characters dressed us as different SW people, or Yoda in Mickey ears, etc)

my sister started with the pins back in 2000....she probably has some rare ones...i just keep em for my self now...im really into the vinyls now..only wish i started when park/urban 1 came out

Collect what you really like. Pins are great because they are so plentiful and you can set a limit as to how much you want to spend.

The problem with snow-globes is that over time, most of them will deteriorate and the value will deplete.
