What kind of job do you have that allows you the time to DIS during work? Is this done 'sneakily' or does your employer allow it? Have you ever been caught DISing when you shouldn't have been?
CONFESSION TIME --- I am working right now and DISing! I work in an office out of my home and can DIS any time I want -- not always a good thing though...... If I don't get my work done during the day from too much DISing then I'm in here at night catching up!:(

Yes, I am at work. Yes, I am sneaking this in. I have yet to be caught (probably shouldn't have said that). However, my excuse is that I am looking for cute information for my company newsletter. I am always using some of the "useless" Did you know facts found on this board in my company newsletter

I'm a programmer, thus I'm always on my computer -- I just keep a lot of windows open at any time.
Plus, Alt-Tab does wonders! :)

I'm dis'ing at work.:p They see me dis'ing sometimes, but they don't care. I get my work done in a fast, friendly, efficient manner. As a matter of fact, they tell me I work TOO hard.:p

I DIS from work, and it is OK. I am in MIS, and I am also on call at home 2-3 nights a week until midnight, so they do not mind, beacause I am working well over my 'alleged' 40 hours.

My employer is O.K. with personal internet usage, but there are some restrictions (fortunately, the DIS doesn't violate any of them). Those restrictions are thing like I can't post on a newsgroup or do chat. Porn is a no-no, and I can't make financial transactions (e.g., trade stock).
But something like this is O.K. I've even discussed it with my manager, and as long as my work is done, she's fine with my entertaining myself here.

I am a SAHM...... Does that count as work :earseek:

YES Laura -- I would including SAHM as 'working'!;) But, have you ever got caught 'DISing' when you should have been doing something else? (hee hee).
Seriously --- parenting is probably the MOST IMPORTANT job in the world! My kids are older now --- 13 and 19 but I still find a way to work and stay at home so I can be a BIG part of their lives 24/7. Now, I'm not so sure that they like it that way anymore though.
OMG -- I just re-read my post and I didn't want to to sound 'mean' to those that work outside of the home .... I have the utmost respect for parents that juggle home, family PLUS work outside the home -- I DON"T know how you do it all!;)

laurabearz - yes, I think a SAHM qualifies as work! :)
I DIS from work. I haven't "really" been caught, although I could be wrong. My computer faces away from everyone else. I can minimize quickly though! ;)
I do work at a travel agency, and I do sell Disney trips, so I can always say I'm doing "research"..... I do find some great info out here...

Yes, I’m DIS-ing at work. If they know, no one has said anything. Although, I try not to make it obvious. I have a privacy screen, so perhaps that helps. I’m a receptionist/secretary at a college. It gets slow here sometimes, especially during the summer. I don’t think anyone cares, as long as I get my work done.

I'm not at work now, but I will be in a few weeks. I'm a teacher and I DIS during my lunch and on my planning period. I find it to be a great way to de-stress.

I have two computers on my desk, one I only use for email and the DIS the other for work. Both of my PCs face the away from the door so I can get away with it.
And it doesn't hurt to get IMMEDIATELY into another window if someone comes in! :p

Well it irks my husband when I log on during the kids bathtime (HE does the baths not me.........) But other than that....... As long as the house is clean, the kids are fed, and dinner is ready shortly after he gets home...... He doesnt care.
Plus I always share with him the money saving ideas I get from The DIS. (Enough to pay for my online connections)

Yes, I Dis from work but I find it a great destresser (Ya that's what it is;) ). Since I get done what I need to get done and then some I do not think that my boss would mind. He even has me look up things for him. This is where I heard about the Swan amd Dolphin educator rate and he loves using that:)

I DIS at work. Usually when I'm on hold on the phone (like now). When someone walks by my office, I quickly switch screens. DISing is a no-no.

Those are the same restrictions I have. I also can't forward anything out of my email account to non-employees, and everything that comes out has a disclaimer attached. Also, my computer gets locked down at night at this special room that is like a library for computers. I am in corporate strategy, so most of us are "lockdowners."

YES - I Dis at work!!
I work Monday - Wednesday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm and I "do what ever I want" at work. I am the receptionist so the only job requirements I have is to answer the phone and greet people when they come into the office. I am on the Dis all the time at work.
On Thursday and Friday I stay home with my 2 1/2 DD and also watch my sisters 2 children (a 2 1/2 DD and a 5 month old DS). My sister watches my DD on Monday and Tuesday and my mom (Nana) watches all her grands on Wednesday!!
When I am at work I think of it as a mini vacation because when I am home it is CHALLENGING work - taking care of three kids!!
Here is another benefit - on Mondays and Tuesdays my DH and I go pick up our DD and my sister makes dinner for all of us. Wednesdays my mom (Nana) makes dinner for me, DH and my sister and then on Thursdays and Fridays I cook dinner for everyone. That way we only have to make dinner twice a week!!
I have truly been BLESSED to have a schedule like this!!

i, too, am a DIS-er at work...i am a receptionist for a computer training company. i sit up front all by myself..the instructors are the only ones that are up here most of the day...when the account managers head up this way, they have to walk up a lllllooooonnnnnnggggg hallway. i can hear them coming, so i switch my screen! i haven't been "caught" yet, but even if i did get caught, i don't think it would be a big deal anyway. i get all of my work done in a timely manner. besides, they LOVE me here...i could do no wrong :teeth:
yeah, whatever...
my job requires answering the phones, greeting people when necessary, signing people in for their exams, BAKING OTIS SPUNKMEYER COOKIES (best part of the whole day, well, except when it's time to go home!!), and do the occasional task for the account managers...i have way too much time on my hands throughout the day. i can't believe that i get pid to pretty much surf the internet all day long!

I DIS at work... I have to admit, it looked like my manager walked into my office when I was on the DIS... But nothing yet. *fingers crossed*. I get my work done quickly... mostly report writing, so I'm on the computer anyways...

I don't work outside the home (and not inside the home much either somedays ;) ) so it's not an issue here.
I do have to "sneak" chat sometimes, though :)
