I have been so excited and made planned reservations for our meals whilst at DLP. We have booked to eat at Chuckwagon Cafe on evening - buffet using free meal vouchers. However, I looked today on "Trip Advisor" and there are lots of reports of people being really ill after eating the buffett in Jan/Feb 2010. Does anyone have any experience of Chuckwagon - good or bad?

many thanks

only 20 days till we depart :yay: :yay: :yay:

We ate there twice during our last visit (31/01/10-04/02/10) recently and I have to say the food at the Chuckwagon buffet was very good.
The choice was plentiful and the quality was great. The desserts are very nice indeed :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I ate there in December and wasn't impressed, to be honest. I found the choice very limited, the quality poor (lots of cheapo processed stuff) and the atmosphere chaotic. For an extra few Euro you could go to Hunter's Grill where the quality and choice are much, much better and you don't have to hover around with a tray waiting for a table.

it was chaotic they had a que right past the toilets which we had to wait in despite booking a table, even though we booked a table we had to wait to find one they let too many people in to the number of tables it was a bit mad

i found the buffet in the studios the ratatouille themed one much better, same [price, quieter, calmer and loads of choice but its a shame they dont open for evening meals off season

never tried hunters grill, where is it?

Yes it's sequoia, i have eaten there many a times, and to be honest the other resturant in the hotel is just as good too. i would thoroughly recommend both of them.

We ate here 6th and 8th Jan this year. My 2 kids (9 and 3) can be a bit fussy. They totally enjoyed their food, and so did hubby and I. There was lots of choice and plenty of it. And SO much choice for the puddings.

I did notice when we were there, there was a sign in English, next to the chicken, stating that the chicken will be pink, as it is the way in which it is cooked (wonder if there had been a few queries about this:confused3)

As far as queues go, I have in the past seen VERY long ones here, but this time around we had reservations for 6.30pm and 6pm and this was a great time to eat.

We used to like the Plaza Gardens, but found on our Oct '09 trip and Jan '10, the choice of food here had gone very bad, so now decided we would always much prefer to go to The chuckwagon:)

I'd recommend it, but if we all liked the same, the restaurants would be packed:rolleyes1

And we were not ill afterwards, and neither was the other family we were with.

We ate in the Chuck Wagon when we were there in January and really enjoyed our meal there. I would say it was one of the better buffets on property and plenty of choice for little people too. We got in early so no problems with queue but if you go after park closing I could imagine the queue being crazy. I can't remember any of the food being undercooked and the ribs were great. We were definitely not ill after eating there. I always take things on Trip Advisor with a dose of salt.
