im looking at booking our next trip and thought it might save to stay off site and book transport separate. i was just wandering how much people pay to get there as i know the eurostar can very depending how soon you want to leave etc. its for 2 adults and a 2 kids 5 and 2. eurostar is coming up about £470 and flights £380. how does that sound? thanks

I pay, at the most, £116 return total for one adult, one child, flying to CDG. Hoping to get flights in an Easyjet sale like I did last time though, and pay around £75 total. You do need to add on your transfer costs from the airport to CDG, but for our party, thats rarely more than about £50 total.
When I factor in train/petrol/overnight hotel costs etc, its just not a value-for-money option for me to take the Eurostar.

does the price for eurostar increase the nearer the time you book or decrease? or is it just up and down regardless of how far in advance you book

The more seats they sell the more expensive the tickets get! :thumbsup2

You could also look at driving there and going via Eurotunnel as you pay only one price rather than per person

both times we've been weve driven, so costs us tank and half in petrol to get there and back ( so £75 in our car- we live in the midlands) then approx £40/50 for ferry crossing, or £80 for eurotunnel. then approx £20 in road toll each way. so for 5 of us driving works out between £155 and £195 depending upon ferry or eurotunnel.
we always find the drive easy
