We...
Are...
Driving...
Again.
Yes my fearless readers of things you need a pipe to smoke in order to understand...
WE
ARE
DRIVING
AGAIN.
To be specific, we leave in 13 days for a 13 day trip. We are leaving in 13 days and I am just finalizing portions of this journey. We are leaving in 13 days and we still do not know who all is going or when some will be joining us. We are leaving in 13 days with three people and that will grow to four 2 days later but may end up blooming to 5 or 6.
I do not know.
What I do know is that I am up at 4 am every night because I am slightly stressed.
One moment the phone is ringing....
Cross off what I just wrote.
Literally I just got a call and it is a confirmed fact that three of us will leave and 2 more will join on the 3rd day of the leg. I feel like I need a baton to pass or something.
Now we are needing to confirm runner number 6 as a possible late qualifier.
Confused? :confused3
Don't be. :sad2:
Here is what I know.
Which is not a lot but more than some. :lmao:
Notice I did not say most!
We live in Minnesota.
We being me:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Dis%20Meet%20at%20MOA/P1030053-2.jpg
Dawn: 38 and lucky to have found the love of my life later in life, Mom to 3 amazing teens and vacation planner guru.
Dan:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Florida%20Trip%20Dec%2009/P1030372-1.jpg
41 and a guy who is hard working and always wants the best for everyone. He is an awesome bonus parent to my kids and they adore him almost as much as I do.
Baylor:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Family%20Burn%20Camp%2009/P1020503.jpg
14 and heading for the high school next year! He is funny and caring and teaches me how to laugh every time he does.
This is the ensemble that will leave on Wednesday, March 10th around 4 p.m. for a drive to Tennessee where we will meet up with Shannn and her family again.
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/sam.jpg
Then on Friday, March 12th, we will head to South Carolina to visit my oldest son's college.
Treyner:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Treyner%20Grad%2009/P1020099.jpg
19 and a freshman in college who plays soccer. He is learning the balance of school and sports at a D2 level and girls...can't have Treyner without bringing up girls.
Which leads me to Treyner's current girlfriend who is coming with. As of 10 minutes ago for sure.
Taylor:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/17437_218396658356_608968356_296-1.jpg
She captured his heart in December and right now they are long distance as she lives in AZ. He was just there last weekend and now she is going to be with us for 90% of this vacation. We have talked a lot on the phone and she seems very nice and bubbly. I informed her that if she goes diva on the road trip, we can tie her to the roof.
She thought I was kidding. :rolleyes1 Treyner assured her I was not! :thumbsup2
We will stay in SC for Friday night and then Treyner's team has 2 spring scrimmages we will be attending Sat. March 13th. This was a new obstacle as of Sunday to work in the trip. Originally we planned on leaving Friday after he was done with classes!
As soon as the games are over, we will head on the road to.....
Marathon, FL - part of the Keys.
Never been to the Keys and found a deal of a lifetime. :cool1:
Well it is a deal as of now and I will find out how big once we are there. :teacher:
Found a resort with individual rentals that are reminiscent in shape to the Tree House Villas. Sleep 6 with full amenities...place has a private beach and all for $175 a night! For spring break with campgrounds charging $100 a night...that was a steal! pirate:
We will stay there Sunday March 14th - Wednesday March 17th.
Thursday March 18th we will enjoy visiting sights back to the mainland and then proceed back 6 hours to...
WDW!!!!
There we will spend 2 glorious days and nights enjoying a water park on Friday the 19th and Epcot Sat. the 20th. We have reservations at POP for now unless something bigger comes available.
Dinner Ressies for Ohana's Friday night and Biergarten Saturday. Yes - they were made 2 days ago!!! :scared1:
Then early Sunday Morning, we will head back to SC to drop off Treyner and Taylor who will fly home and then choke myself off of the vacation lows as we spend 20 hours heading back to MN and probably snow!
Yup...13 days and 3 solid says of driving total. The hours are close to 65 at least.
I may need a tranquilizer dart to put myself out of my own misery.
What did you say? :listen:
Oh yes...who might be the 6th person in your evil menagerie of torture?
Why that would be:
Carsyn:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Carsyn%20New%20Years%202009/17166_1195756495460_1274880185_3-1.jpg
The middle child. 16 and a pleasure to be around. Or not. Depends on the day. Mostly pleasure though. ;)
Don't cry for her Argentina. She is a maybe because she is actually going to be in Hawaii March 4th - 12th. Going with Treyner's ex-girlfriend for next to nothing as their family gets to fly for free and has buddy passes and the girls are staying with an uncle who lives 1 block from the beach.
Poor baby. I might just shed a tear.
Nope...I won't.
We are trying to decide if she can fly to Hawaii and then back to Miami. If she can, she will join us from the 13th on. If she cannot with the reduced rate we are paying as a buddy pass, she will be home taking care of the dogs while we are gone.
It just depends on flight openings and we may not know until we know, ya know.
So that is it.
The last minute hodge podge trip that will be the last hurrah this year.
Yes it is only March but there is house projects on the horizon as we look forward to, er I mean with deepest regret realize, that Carsyn will be graduating in a little over a year and that means another grad party.
Is it possible in 1 1/2 years I will be down to one in the house? :worship:
Don't get me wrong...I love them all but there is something to be said for them getting more independent and as adults it is a whole new relationship. :cheer2:
So please, join in the fun. Or the "Wheel of Torture." :cool2:
I do feel like I am sitting around the table in an episode of "That 70's Show" and am well aware once the smoke clears...this may be one of the craziest things I have done. I mean Orlando is 48 hours round trip...what am I thinking adding another 15 plus? :faint:

Yes it counts and yes mine is crazy - if you go back and read even the highlights of the other TR's...you will know that better than you might want to!
I do provide chapter indexes for people so they can just ship the blabber if they only want to read the actual TR. Although the blabber moments are some sort of crazy more often than not in my world!

Joining in !! popcorn::
Sounds like a crazy, fun, time!
I personally would rather drive then fly anytime. I'm terrified of flying and would rather spend the extra time to get there. We will be flying out to Orlando next week and taking a 10 week old baby,(hoping he doesn't scream and cry the whole time) so I'm stressing out BIG time just thinking about it. But my husband couldn't take the extra time off of work to drive this time around, so we had no choice. ((Please pray for me. :rotfl: ))
Anyway.... looking forward to reading more. I'm jealous you're going to the Keys.....always wanted to go there. ((One day)) :goodvibes

I personally would rather drive then fly anytime. This will be our 3rd drive to Florida in 8 1/2 months...plus we drove 60 hours to Colorado to drop my son at his first college choice in August...I feel like I need a CB! Breaker Breaker Good Buddy... I'm terrified of flying and would rather spend the extra time to get there. They did pretty well! Doing Property Tax tonight from last year that I never got around too! :rolleyes1
I can't remember, did you get a new van? Or are you taking the ghetto van? :lmao:
Ahhhhh wise grashopaaaahhhh...you rememember the ghetto miser van...well we upgraded...to it's equally ghetto fabulous cousin...who could be lovingly reffered to as "Buggar" or "Shrek" or perhaps "Big Green."
Seen it's better days on the outside but the inside is quite nice. Got a great deal - if it makes it through this trip and 1/2 of another one - it was cheaper than renting a conversion van.
Decided to buy very used...see how much we indeed liked the conversion drive and then in 2 years - get a newer version.
Baylor is all excited because he has plans for this van.
Big plans.
They include a Disco Ball in the back, a fog machine and having bigger tires in the back than front.
Also racing stripes!
I mean what is an old van without racing stripes? :confused3 :rotfl:
An official man Cave with gaming console to go with the TV or a "Shaggin Waggin" as he says with a wink. ;) (Treyner had an Escort station wagon so Baylor is claiming he is super sizing the original Big Mac!)
I assured him no girl's parents will allow their daughter to ride in said "wagin" and he said - "I know - I will be all big talk and no follow through...like Fez." (from "That 70's show!")
The fun begins!

I remember the water being really really blue and driving on a really long bridge. Couple miles long if I can remember correctly. My dad caught a shark and a puffer fish off of the pier on one of our trips. I also remember the key lime pie... yummy!! But other than that I don't remember a ton. We stopped going to Florida when I was around 10. But we went every year before that and we visited the beaches more than anything else.
One time my brothers found a shark on the beach and decided to dissect it on the beach...:sick: Then after the blood was draining into the water all day my mom thought it was a good idea to tell my brother to push it back into the water.... :scared1::rolleyes1 That is the year my brother walked on water. :lmao: Although I'm pretty sure it was all the sea creatures he was actually walking on. I was on five on that trip and my brothers were 14 and 16.

Due to technical difficulties...we have an update to explain!
Today has been a hectic day with tears.
Not mine.
Carsyn's.
The trip to Hawaii is off. They would haved been flying standby and getting to Honolulu is no biggie. Leaving is jam full.
The other issue comes down to lack of planning on Carly's part. (Ex girlfiend of Treyner who was taking Carsyn.)
Long story but she was not as responsible in communicating with her uncle that her mother did not want her to go. He talked to the mom last night and just found out she was mad at Carly and thus was mad at him for saying they could come.
Which got Carly's mom involved at an over the top rate. Carly is 19 and her mother is fighting her adulthood.
Mom's name is Linda.
Who is a lunatic on many levels.
Ex: Last year when Carly and Treyner went to prom - Carly's mom explained to Treyner that he did not have to wear a tux for Prom. She pictured him in a nice dress shirt and pants.
He told her that although he appreciated her thinking he did not need to spend money on a tux, that indeed he would be wearing one.
Linda, meet Treyner. The boy who packed 4 pairs of shoes and wore a 5th to go to Arizona for 2 days. He is all about the clothes and he will be wearing a tux.
She tried to pressure him into it and he said no.
Nobody tells Linda no.
Except Treyner. So she did not like him after that point and was a huge reason for Carly and Treyner not working. Treyner could not see Linda in his life forever. He has seen my dealings with his Dad's Mom who is a lot like that.
So it seems that ole Carly ticked off her Mom about XYZ and so Linda called her brother (the one who lives in Hawaii) and told him not to let them come.
Carsyn is learning a hard lesson on checking with more than the other friend involved on a trip and also how influential the boss of a family can be. I had talked with Carly's dad and uncle since they were the ones involved (Carlys parents are divorced) but Linda still runs the kahoonas. :scared1:
The good news is we are driving not flying so Carsyn can still join in the fun.
I am actually happy she is comming.
Even numbers for kids and we will all see the Keys together for the first time.
So our numbers are now 6.
Thank Goodness we bought that Van!!!

[/COLOR]
That's hilarious. My first car was a Ford Explorer and I tricked it out. It had a disco ball hanging from the rear-view mirror. (No fog machine though.) There were glow in the dark stars on the ceiling AND...a ball pit in the back. No joke. Every time I turned the corner, you could hear them flying all over the place. It was great!! :lmao:

2 days is better than nothing. I agree. I am trying to sell myself on the fact that this is not a repeat trip 3 months later by only going 2 days...is it working? :confused3:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I told Baylor this and he is beyond excited to get a ball pit! Keep the ideas comming! He is figuring out how to rig a baby gate between the drivers area and the back so no balls will become a hazzard.

Truthfully I am happy and I think Taylor is thrilled as well because Treyner had explained that the boys would be playing x-box in the van for the drive so she better bring a book so she was not bored! :lmao:

This made me think of our babysitters DIL. Her name is Toni, her sisters name is Kelly. A few years back, their parents divorced and her father married his mistress...Toni Kelly. How SICK is that!! He named his daughters after his mistress. Until she got married and took her husbands name, she and her step-mother had the same name
So you are telling me he had a mistress his whole marriage and then named his daughters after her? Did the wife have a clue?
Hmmmmm.....if my Dad had named me after my ex step-mother, my name would have been Big T!ts.
oh....wait...that is what I called her.
What was her real name again......?
Rancid corpse of a maggot filled cockroach?
Nope.....again a pet name.
Now you got me stumped as to what the heck her name was.
(Truth - I really did call her BT (the full name mentioned previously.) In fact my kids would say, are we going to go see Grandpa Dave and BT? And I would say, why yes my sweet angels we are going to visit the bowels of he!! just for scrapbooking shots.
(Ok...so the last sentence was my fantasy but they really did ask the first sentence and don't go hating me. She is satan with EE breasts. She had been married to my Dad for all of 2 months when my grandpa passed away and he had a military funeral. 5 children in my Dad's family and when the flag was folded and presented to the family, BT came forward and took it.
My uncles and aunt wanted to kill her and no joke thought about it.
She is the only person I have ever hated in my life. And I have dissliked many people.
Bummer about Hawaii but nice that Carsyn will be joining you!

Good Morning Vietnam!!!!
Or at least the US/Canada/UK/Ireland, cause I have not seen any Vietnam - ish locations in the avatar section!
Yesterday the entire day was spent finding recipes to make and cooking by me for the trip. I will have to catalog all the food - I am quite impressed with even some new concoction I found - one tastes exactly (and even a tad better) than Recces Peanut Butter Cups. (For my friends from the WISH - I tried literally a smidge - for now anyway! ;))
With 4 teens on the trip - pit stops could be pricey. So food for an army is needed not to go broke on the trip down.
We LEAVE WEDNESDAY!!!! :cool1:
I started my list of all things needing to be packed already.
Yes some of you OCD'ers out there would have it listed and packed by now.
We packed Baylor yesterday.
Carsyn comes home today after being in Iowa with her Dad and we will have her packed then too.
Oh...and Dan - the most amazing man on the planet and more talented than I could ever give him credit for...
Spent all day yesterday (literally from 10 am - 6 p.m.) ripping out the console in the new ghetto van and tearing through the front end so he could re-wire and attach an inverter (blah blah blah cause we all now I have no flippin clue what all that means) to make sure the new tv for the van does not drain the battery and cause us to be homeless in Illinois on our trip down. He tore up the carpeting, ran cords under the seats and the result...
We have a 19 inch flat screen TV WITH built in DVD player for our road trips.
Dan has a friend who knows a friend who knows a guy who finds things after they fall off the back of trucks.
Ok - I am kidding. He does have a friend though who got us access to an employee and friends website for a national electronics/appliance company and there they sell things new, refurbished, scratch and dented etc for cheap!!! Hence Baylor had enough on his own to buy the X-box and our ability to pimp the inside of the beast.
Including the purchase of the van and all the extras (TV/x-box/wireless remote/new stereo speakers etc.) we all spent about $1,900.
Now if we make it down and back - it was a steal because flying 5 of us was going to be $2,000 plus we would have had a rental van etc.
So...do we want pictures of all the food, packing stuff and van now?
Or should I wait to post it in the TR?
Let me get a vote people. In fact I may try and post a poll! :confused3 :woohoo:

Today we leave in 4 hours. I have been up since 4 am. If I get the rest of my itinerary done, I will post pics here. If not, I will try and upload them Friday night for you all once we get to Anderson.
I am exhausted. Carsyn had a huge project for her history class, 9 girls were in the group. Maybe 4 helped at all. Carsyn was up all night. Literally all night a in no sleep, trying to finish it.
35 minute documentary covering the 70's including politics, fads, fashion, entertainment etc. She is amazing at this stuff. The thing she put together was really incredible and a lot of creative design since Utube videos are not school friendly on their computers. She video taped the computer screen then transferred the video to the computer, added music, words etc.
At 10:30 when I crashed and the other girls said, they were done. There was 12 minutes. This morning their was 30 plus. All edited and spliced.
I am so very proud of her.
That is also why I have not had the computer! :thumbsup2
You will not believe all the food I made and we are bringing. It's like I am packing for the ark.
Shannn - Reece's Peanut Butter bars and home made nutter butters are coming!
I will say ta ta for now.
I will be asleep before we leave Minnesota I am sure.

So, I don't know what happened, but I somehow lost your TRs for most of 2010! :scared1:
But I found you again. :thumbsup2 But you're gone. :sad2: But you're off making up more wonderful stories for us to read later!
I hope you were able to stop at lots of Triple-D places! Guy totally reminds me of a blond version of my red-headed (bald) cousin. I even have one of the DDD books, but have only been to a few of the places in IL and AZ.
And btw - I can make the twin cities to Chicago trip in 5.5 hours. Yeah, I have a lead foot! :drive:
Just make sure you wave with all 5 fingers. The fibs might take offense! :rotfl2:
As a former fib, I'm taking offense! j/k Cheesehead! ;)

Hi Dawn, I just finished reading your PTRs and TRs and I loved them! You and your family are hysterical! As I read your TR from last year, It was like reading my story. I am 42, was married for 12 years, now divorced for 13, with 3 children 15, 17, 19. I too have found a fabulous man when I least expected it. We bought a used conversion ghetto van for our June trip that also includes my Bonus son 13, and daughters friend. Every story made me laugh, from the Cake store to the shirtless Space Mtn. I would love our families to meet in Disney! You sound so cool! Hope you have a great time on this trip, and I cannot wait until you get back so we could talk! I am looking forward to the promised pics and stories!:surfweb:

WE ARE HOME.
Got in at 7:30 a.m. due to brakes that went out in the big green booger. Thank GOD that they were able to be fixed for $500 including new roders (sp?) on Sunday by a nice company who offered to stay open past 4 p.m. close to help us. :worship:
There is also good news due to my tax money NOT coming on the 5th but instead on the 19th. :sad2: I did not spend it during the trip and was lucky enough just to pay the bill in cash!! :teacher:
(P.S. - Sorry God for thinking ya might be nicer to give me the money for the trip. Maybe ya do know more than me! :rolleyes1 :lmao:)
We have the best new souvenir and you will all die when you see the pics!
I am heading to bed.

Ya know I am really glad the brakes happened when they did because like 20 minutes later the mountains and nowhere with the 40 detour would have put us in the clutches of Billy Bob and his "What day of the week is this and how much do I feel like charging?" pricing. We were able to get done at a franchise with set pricing and a warranty for life that we can get serviced here in MN if there is an issue. :worship:
