I am scheduled to go to a conference in Oct. Do I book my hotel at the conference rate and miss out on the possible chance for free disney dining, if they do that this year.
Or do I book my hotel without the conference discount, and hope for free disney dining.
Is it worth it to pay an extra 25 bucks a day in hotel costs to gamble on free dining? Also, if they do offer free dining I would assume it really is worth 25 bucks extra a day in hotel charges, right?
Oh and to add to the dilemna: My next door neighbors workfor Disney and might be able to give us free guest passes to get into the parks for free. I assume that if I use those passes it doesn't count for the requirement of buying at least one day pass, right?

Do you have to book the room for the conference now? Dates for Free Dining should be out next month or begining of April.
For the Free Dining, you would need to purchase a one-day ticket min.(can be saved for a future trip or upgraded) and stay 3 nights.
How much time will you have to go for dinner or breakfast? Do you have much free time to go to the parks?
$25 dollars more for the room isn't much when you are getting the food for free. If you won't be able to use the credits because of the conference, then it's better to go with the other hotel. TS dinners will easily cover the $25. How easy will it be for you to get to the conference from a Disney resort? Will food be available for you at the conference? Is there a special ticket for people attending the conference to go to WDW?

It's all going to depend on where you are going to stay and how much you are looking to spend.
If the conference resort and free tickets outweigh the savings you'd get from free dining, then you should go that way. If you just want the free dining no matter what, then you don't have a choice but to wait and see if it comes out. Remember that in order to get free dining you must pay full rack rate for the resort room. The best way to tell is to estimate where you'd like to eat and how much you want to spend, and see if the free dining savings might outweigh the conference booking discount. It's also going to depend on the level of resort you would book if you choose free dining - conferences are usually in deluxe resorts or CSR.
If you book free dining you have to buy at least a one-day park ticket for everyone on your reservation. If you get free tickets from your neighbors, you'll still have to buy some form of ticket from Disney on a reservation package to get free dining.
You may also want to note that if you choose the discounted conference room, you won't even be able to purchase the dining plan, because conference discounts aren't associated with package reservations and they can't add a dining plan to a room-only reservation.
