We went on September 29th last year. It was warm! I'll be remembering that when thinking of this year's costume. The crowds were great and everyone was in a festive mood. We walked on to all the rides with little, to no wait at all! We were able to get some quality some with the characters as well!
We had spent the morning at MK, had a TS at Tony's Town Square around 2:30, headed back to the resort for a swim and shower. Changed into our costumes and headed back to MK around 6pm.
We had a blast! Can't wait to get back!

We will be going to MNSSHP on Oct.3. I only know of this date because we are attending the Wine & Dine Marathon week-end, and you get a ticket to the party with your package. Can't wait! This will be #5 for us.

This will be my first time going, well depending on what day(s) they are doing it during my trip. Quick question, do you have to have a regular ticket/park hopper to go, or could i tour one park during the day then head to MK for the party? I can't wait for the sugar coma!!

You will need a hard ticket for the party but, no regular ticket to get into the park. So you will be free to do whatever you wish during the day!
You are usually allowed to enter MK at 4pm with your party ticket. The party officially starts at 7pm.

We originally were planning on going to our first ever MNSSHP this October but then decided that since we are already going in March, that we would skip out on it this year so that we can buy a house. Now we are back again talking about doing a trip in October, but for a long weekend. We also want to go to F&W Festival which will also be a first for us as well. Crossing my fingers that it will happen. If not this year, then definitely we will be there next year :goodvibes

I've read that even if it rains heavily, the event still goes on and money is not refunded. Is that really true?

I'm super excited as this will be the first time I'll be going to MNSSHP! I'm thinking about being Belle but in the simple blue dress that she wears at the the beginning of the movie. My mom doesn't know that we're going to the party yet, so I was thinking about surprising her for her birthday with the ticket, a disney gift card, and Halloween costume. I just don't want to get something that'll be too hot. :confused3

yAY! Jumping on the thread. We are going to our very first MNSSHP this year as well. We are arriving October 30th so we are eagerly awaiting the date release. We are hoping they will have a party on November 1st as they have the last two years. If they do than thats the day we plan to go.. otherwise we will be buying tickets they day they go on sale for October 31st unless we can get an early flight to MCO on the 30th and then we will go that day.. Fingers crossed for the 1st. .
I don't think my husband and I will be dressing up but my son will be. We are trying to get a custom costume made for him but I need to take measurements and then see what the price will be. He wants to be Sora from Kingdom Hearts.

DD is going to be Cinderella and DS wants to be Sora too. I bought all the pattern stuff to make it for him. WE are big Kindgom Hearts fans. DD's name is actually Kairi.

This year I am going to be the Corpse Bride!! Found a really pretty costume, but I think I will use my own hair. It should be pretty long by then. DD is still trying too decide what she wants too be.
We love the headless horseman!!!!!!!!!!!
not sure how too add my photos...I will try and figure it out! Can I add them from Facebook???
We are also so excited for Food & Wine..I am putting $20 a week aside starting the first week in March so I can totally enjoy my self for our October trip.

We are going to Disney 9/13 - 9/18 and are planning going to the MNSSHP then.
It's just my husband and I and I want to dress up. I'm trying to get him to dress up too (nothing extravagant, just something to get in the spirit of things). He thinks since it's over a month before halloween, we'd be the only adults dressing up. Can you guys help me with this? Do adults dress up, that far before halloween? How is the party in mid-September?
So excited to be going to my 1st MNSSHP!
Thanks for your help!

We are all going as video game characters I think. My daughter of course will do Kairi . My boys 8 and 9 will be Shadow and Sonic the hedgehog ( I wanted them to be Sora and Roxas ) , and I will do either Lara Croft and my husband Indy or we will do Mario and Princess Peach. lol

If you don't mind me asking.. How did you find a pattern? My mother is great at making costumes for my son but she needs a pattern of sorts to make it otherwise I am going to be paying a cosplay person to make it for me.. I didn't find just one pattern. We bought a couple (at the 1.00 Simplicity pattern sale.) My mom is a seamstress and she is going to make it for us. He wanted the costume from the first game (although we almost talked him into Halloween Town Sora) We got a hoodie pattern, my mom had a shirt pattern that will work with the zipper, and for the shorts we found a fairy costume with a pantaloon type thing that will work perfectly for the shorts.
We LOVE Kingdom Hearts. I bought it for DH at our first anniversary (was in 02) and we decided if we ever had a girl we would name her Kairi. DD has the red hair and blue eyes to match too so that worked out well.
When I saw you were from Altoona and you were using Sora I had to say "Hi"

If you go to www.cosplay.com and type Sora into the search engine you will pull up a lot of personally designed Sora costumes. Some people even include tips and will give advice. There are a few Halloweentown Sora ones on there as well. Some are not so great and some are amazing you just have to sort through them.
We are working on making our own keyblade so if anyone wants our help with one just PM me.

Last year was the first year for my sister and me to go. We absolutely loved it, and will be going again this year. I found the "Tips, Tricks, etc." post from last year very very helpful as a first timer. I researched everything for the 2 of us, so she wouldn't have to worry about it, but I was able to do so without spoiling too much for myself - so glad of that! We went on November 1 last year and it was warm, but not too bad. We can't wait to go back!

In general there are no refunds for rain, however, if they cancel the fireworks or the parade or shows due to rain, they will usually work with you. They've done a free one day ticket or a ticket to another party night and some were able to get a refund but there really are no guarantees.
If you are really worried about rain, you could always wait to buy the tickets till the week of or the day of and watch the weather reports.

I went in Sept last year and it rained. The parade was late starting and then when it did start no headless horsemen. The villians show was cancelled so they could clear the stage for the second show. the rain stopped and we did see Hallowishes, the second villian show and we trick or treated. We had the best time and can't wait to go back this year

I'm hoping we can go this year. The last 2 years we arrived the Sunday before Labor day and left the Friday after and both years they had MNSSHP the Friday before and the Friday after Labor Day. This year we're arriving the Friday before (have an early flight) and I'm hoping we'll be going to MNSSHP that night.
Since I hear they let people in early (4pm) for MNSSHP I'm planning on reserving an early dinner in MK that night and then we'll be there for the fun. Since it's so hot that time of year I'm trying to think of a "cool" coustume for my son (3). A simple one I was thinking of was to get him a pair of red shots and a black t-shirt and yellow crocs. I can add to big yellow felt buttons to his shorts. He can wear his Mickey ears, I'll get a pair of the Mickey Gloves when we get down there and some black makeup on his nose.
Peter Pan canalos be fun - green cut off shorts, green T-shirt brown crocs, a smal sword, hat, etc.
Depending upon how "game" mys sister and husband are we can either get matching t-shirts or do more like the Mickey outfit (Blue shorts, orange t-shirt, brown vest and Goofy Hat, Whit shorts, blue sailor shirt, yellow shoes & Donald Hat, stuff like that).
First I need to find out if they'll have it on 9/3!

First time for us this year, hopefully during the first week of Sept.
Being a total MNSSHP noob, a couple of questions:
1) When buying tickets, do they have to be for a specific night?
2) How soon should we get in line for photos with Snow White and the 7 Dwarves?
3)Will I need another suitcase to lug home 10 pounds of candy?
4) Does Cruella still come out with the villains?
Myself, wife and daughter haven't decided on costumes yet, but Peter Pan, Wendy, and Tink may happen, but also Huey Dewey and Louie is also possible.

What restaurants are open during MNSSHP? Debating on whether to do something quick before or something during. Not sure how tuckered I'll be though, since I'm most likely going the day I arrive. They only have 2 the week I'm there, Tues and Fri, and I figure Tues will be less crowded. Thanks in advance!

We went last year and had a FANTASTIC time. The kids loved dressing up and all the CMs make a big deal out of it.
Here are the only pics I have in photobucket right now.

This is the bag I made for the kids to use TOTing. They filled them about 1/2 way up which was a ton of candy.

Being a total MNSSHP noob, a couple of questions:
1) When buying tickets, do they have to be for a specific night?
Yes, each night is only allotted so many tickets.
2) How soon should we get in line for photos with Snow White and the 7 Dwarves?
Can't help you there. I assume it would be just like any other meet & greet
3)Will I need another suitcase to lug home 10 pounds of candy?
The bags they give you to trick or treat with are a little bigger than a lunch bag. We only filled them about 1/2 way. And we just grabbed little bags of candy to take with us to the parks for the rest of the trip. I don't think you'll need another suitcase.
4) Does Cruella still come out with the villains?
Yes

Another noob question: By going to the party, does that use one of your park 'visits' or by buying the ticket does that get you in to MK? We were planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon for the day, resting, and then going to MK for a 430pm dinner at LTT. I'm just trying to save a day on my ticket if I can. I've heard you can get into MK any time after 4pm as long as you have your ticket. True?

Correct. You will not have to use one of your park days to get into the party. As long as you have a ticket to the party, you will be able to enter anytime after 4pm! :goodvibes

We will be going to MNSSHP for the first time this year. I am sooooo excited, and I can't wait to see my 2 girls faces :)
Can I ask your opinion on something?
What costumes do you think I should get for my girls (they will be 3 and 18 months)? I would like the costumes to be linked in some way. I thought of Princesses, but thought of maybe doing something a bit different. I would like the costumes to be Disney related, but any ideas are welcome.
Thanks :)

Have fun and take lots of pictures!

I am so excited because on my last post I was mentioning how we are probably going to miss out on our very first MNSSHP this year because instead we wanted to buy a house. Well DH and I have been talking it over for the past couple of weeks and decided that we will stay in the place that we are at for another year and start looking again next year. With that said, DH gave me the green light last night to rebook our Oct. trip :cool1: He told me to choose any resort that I wanted to go to and then let him look it over for final say (I was cool with that). My choices were CR, BW Deluxe room, or the AKL. We really wanted to try AKL but thought with going to MNSSHP and also going to F&W Festival, it would be more logical to stay at CR for the monorail. So we have a Tower Theme Park View booked for 10/6-10/12....I am so doing the happy dance :dancer:...Now the question is, what are we going to wear to MNSSHP :goodvibes

There's probably about a month to go for exact dates. As soon as they're announced I'll add them to the 1st post in this thread.
The party usually goes from 7PM -midnight. But you will be allowed to enter MK with your party ticket at 4PM.

What do we love about it?
1.) Fireworks are great!
2.) The play is awesome.
3.) There is alot of candy - took home 2 bags of it last year!
4.) Rides have easy access ( except for the Fantasyland ones with all the kids.)
5.) The fog machine over at Pirates - one year it wa really spooky over there with the dense fog and purple and green lights.

Thanks :grouphug: Figured I would get it early while its on sale...I went as Tinkerbell last year and the interaction from all the Disney Villans at the meet and greet was awsome :) But I want to do something different this year...BF is going as Captain Jack Sparrow again. We are SO excited to be going to our first MNSSHP this Sept. We'll be there from Sept 22-29 and are planned on going to the party on Sept 25th. I'm already trying to think of costumes! My uncle owns an awesome costume shop down in Orlando, so I might be renting a few if I can't find what I want around here. I'd like us to all be coordinated, so here are my thoughts so far:
1-DD as Tink, Me as Wendy and DH as Captain Hook (there is NO way he'll do Peter Pan)
2-DD as Alice, Me as Queen of Hearts, DH as Mad Hatter
3-Original Mouseketeers...white t-shirts with our names on them, shorts for DH and pleated skirts for me and DD, traditional Mickey Ears
I can't wait!

I'm hoping there will be one when we're out in September :) never been to one before. Don't know if I'd dress up though, not decided yet but I'll be trying to get the free sweets if they give them to adults.
One thing I was wondering, I know only so many people are allowed in but is it really busy? I just remember doing a halloween night at universal and they said places were limited but when we were there it was busier than it had been during the day, everything was about a 2 hour wait

We went at the end of September last year and walked onto almost everything with hardly any wait. I think it gets busier the closer to Halloween. We also went on a Tuesday. I have heard the the weekend dates are busier because of the locals.
I hear ya on the Horror Nights at US We went on Halloween a few years ago and it was packed! We had splurged on the passes so we didn't have to wait as long and man were we happy we did! I couldn't imagine doing half the stuff without it! Amazes us to this day!

We are 2 adults, no kids and we have a blast. We also so many other couples without children. If you consider yourself big kids, and who doesn't in Disney World?, then you would probably enjoy it. The parade and fireworks show alone was worth it for us, not to mention the villains!!!

We love mnsshp. In fact this year we chose oct over nov mainly because of the party. This will be our 6th mnsshp. Boy what a difference the dis had made from our first time to our last! We learned about getting in early, best place to get an adr, costume ideas, etc. Believe it or not, last year was the first time we watched the parade. It was awesome. We usually do rides during the parades but not anymore. I am hoping to go Oct 11 or 12th. (basing this on last years dates)

I am so excited that we are going to be going to our first MNSSHP this year. I have heard from many people that that party is the best that Disney puts on...they say it is better than the MVMCP party, which we did in December and really enjoyed it. I am really learning a lot from all of your posts and it is getting me even more excited for our September trip. What is so funny is that we are leaving for Disney in 2 days for our Spring Break trip, and even though I am really excited about going this time, I keep thinking about our September trip and how I am slightly more excited about going then.

I think I bought my tickets in May? Maybe June... early enough. I purchased them online and Disney's website. You have the option to have them sent to you, which costs a little more. Or you can print your voucher (what I did) and take it with you. You can then go to your hotel Concierge (if you're staying on property) or any ticket counter to pick up your hard tickets.
You can also order them on the phone as well.

Add me to the list! We went to the Halloween Party in 2007 and again in 2009 (twice!) and can't wait to go again this year! I do have some pictures, if anyone is looking for something specific...I can see what I've got.
I'm still debating on costumes....It's difficult to find ones that are not too heavy since it will likely be in the 80's (it was almost 90 degrees in 2009 due to some unseasonably warm weather) and pirates is obviously the easiest choice, but it's also the most overdone.
So far, I've thought of vikings, mobsters, and superheroes (which is a repeat of our 2009 costumes) but they are long sleeves and pants so I'm still at a loss. There will be 3 of us, all adults so if anyone has some suggestions, please let me know!

We're going on our trip the last week of September and I'm trying to do as many special things as possible, seeing as it's our first trip and who knows when I'll be back! I think I'm going to go as Dorothy, maybe my sis can be the Wicked Witch! :thumbsup2

Welcome to the Dis! You picked a good time to go if you're looking for special things to do! Will you be there the first couple days of October? If so, then you'll be able to catch the beginning of Food & Wine at Epcot as well! We love going at this time of year.

Am I the only nut job who is already costume shopping?? Not having much luck because everything is out of stock-in March??-why?? I think we are between tink and peterpan and jack and sally-last year we were alice and the mad hatter so DH is balking at anything too warm, and the kids will just get to pick theirs.

I think we are going to go with halloween t-shirts for adults and probably 13 year old son. The girls will probably want to dress up. Husband wanted to dress until he realized how hot it would be.

Ok. . .if my friend and I get to go to WDW (waiting for the FD announcement), we plan on attending MNSSHP. My friend says she has a pirate costume she wants to wear. That leaves me. Hmm. . . I've been trying to come up with something cool (temperature), and I'm not having much luck. When I look online, I find lots of great costumes, but they are either pricey or made for someone who is a size 0. I'm not a large woman, but I'm curvy (more fat than God-given!). I can't decide what to wear.
Ok. . .here is my question. What do people go as? Do adults dress up, and what is acceptable?
Thanks
O.K. I have been to Disney 3 times but we have never done the Halloween party. I know it starts at 7:00 and ends at 12:00. It sounds like I need to make a dinner reservation around 5:00 somewhere in MK. At 7:00 do they have a big start to the party like a parade or something? What time do they have the fireworks and parade? I am sorry if this sounds dumb but I have never been and don't know what to expect. THANK YOU!!!!:confused3

You could make your reservations in the MK or even a resort on the monorail line if you like. Last year we had a late lunch around 2:30 at Tony's, headed back to our hotel for a swim and shower, put on our costumes and headed to MK around 6pm. Then later on in the evening we had a quick bite at Casey's Corner. It's another nice option as well.
This is what last year's schedule of events was:
Trick or Treating throughout the evening
Mickey's "Boo to You" Parade @ 8:15 pm and 10:30 pm
Happy Hallowishes Fireworks @ 9:30 pm
Character Dance Parties in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland
Disney's Villains Mix & Mingle @ 7:45, 9:00, 10:05 and 11:15 pm
Special Disney Character Appearances throughout the park
There's no big kick off type when the party starts. My guess is that they're still trying to get non party guests out of the park. But you're free to get in a ride or two before the first event starts since you'll have your party bracelets.

Last year we saw lots of different costumes. From pirates, prisoners, princesses. All from adults. My favorite was the 2 guys in housecoats, curlers in their hair and slippers! Most costumes are acceptable as long as they don't offend adults or children. I'm sure that if you will come up with something creative and in your budget! Maybe whip out those Disney movies and get the creative juices flowing. You may not even need to purchase a costume.
Last year we got lucky because there was a costume store by my house that was going out of business and got a great bargain but, this year we're struggling a bit trying to come up with something.

On page 8 of this thread i posted my pics from 2007 and 2009's MNSSHP. We went the first year in 50's garb (poodle skirts, etc) and last year we went as super heroes.
I got both of my costumes from BuyCostumes.com. If you try and shop early (and sign up for their newsletters) you can get some great deals. I had to pay full price my poodle skirt costume because I bought it in September. However, I got my Wonder Woman costume for about 35% off because I bought it in July, I think. You can search around on their website - they have some really good costumes on there. I am also "curvy" and had to make sure I got something comfortable. I have to say, the Wonder Woman costume was by far the most 'cool' temperature wise, but the poodle skirt was the most comfortable all around.
Here are some tips that I've picked up over the last 3 parties:
- If you hair covers your neck (i.e anything longer than a pixie cut) wear it up. If it's naturally wavy or curly, don't bother trying to straighten it because it was so humid mine just curled right back up again.
- Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT think that you can get away with wearing any type of heels because you'll only be there for a few hours. My feet were KILLING me by the time we got from Pop to the MK. Thankfully I brought flip flops, but I was pretty sure I was going to pass out from the pain while waiting in line to meet Minnie.
- Try your costume on when you get it and make sure it fits and that it goes on/comes off easily. My boyfriend's Green Lantern costume looked fabulous but it took FOREVER to get it on him right (the chest piece refused to line up), it was safety pinned 3 ways from Sunday, and when all was said and done, we realized there was no way for him to use the little boys room without taking the whole thing off.
- Get your costume tailored if need be. I wish I had taken my Wonder Woman costume to get tailored. The problem with "plus size" costumes is that they are always too big in one are or another. Mine fit fine in the hips but was too big in the waist and hence, caused the top to keep moving around.
Hope this helps! Have fun! :thumbsup2

This year will be 3rd MNSSHP for DD and I. Had to practically drag her the first year, now it's a must, we LOVE it. This year we are planning on Sept. 14 if dates go as planned. This is going to make for a CRAZY day. It's DD's birthday, we have 8 am ADR for CRT and we ALWAYS eat at Rainforest Cafe on her b-day (tradition started 5 years ago so no dodging it now.) I'm thinking CRT, then rope drop at Toon Town to see the fairies, back to resort for rest, early dinner at DTD Rainforest then back to MK. Holy Cow that looks scary when I type it out! I had hoped to fit in a trip to the MK Barbershop to have DD's hair glittered but I don't know. Seems like if we did it in the morning she would either mess it up at mandatory nap or refuse to lay down at all. :confused3

So glad I found this post!! How exciting! We are going to our first ever MNSSHP. This will be the first time going in the fall. We love Halloween and my dd10 thinks about the party every day. She already knows she wants to be the dead bride from the Haunted Mansion. My dd6 wants to be Princess Tiana and my dd8 doesn't have a clue yet. I'm assuming she'll pick a princess costume as well.
I make T-shirts for Disney and I'll do orange tank tops with MNSSHP designs on them for me, dh, and ds13.
I believe i'm going to make bags too. FUN FUN!!!!
We are planning on going to the September 21st MNSSHP! Hopefully those dates are correct, cause that works out good for us!
I'm so much more excited after reading this post now!

Hello Everyone! :wave2:
We are going to our very first MNSSHP this year. We are travelling Oct 11-18th, and it will be just me (mom) and DS 8yo. This will be our second 'mommy and son' trip and I cannot wait!! On our last trip we did MVMCP and really enjoyed it, although it was quite cool weather-wise while we were down there. I am thinking about either dressing up or having matching shirts and getting our faces painted for the MNSSHP. Anyone have any ideas for a 'mom and son' theme costume (or old lady and pain the butt kid LOL). Appreciate all the info on this thread and am looking forward to planning along with y'all (yes, I did pick up the southern twang from the DIS ;)).

They start letting party guests in at 4pm, the party actually starts at 7pm. Anyone without a MNSSHP wristband will need to leave the park. You can ride rides whenever you want to...nothing shuts down. Don't know if do character meet & greets but if you plan to meet Snow White with all 7 Dwarfs (which you can only do during the Halloween party) I recommend getting there around 5pm and getting in line. They come out once every half hour starting at either 7 or 7:30 and the line will be 2 hours long by the time the party officially starts at 7pm.

Last year, I ordered tickets for two dates. I ordered both sets over the phone. The first time, the CM did not tell me she was charging me for shipping...she sent them via either FedEx or UPS, I don't remember which...but it cost me $10. When I ordered the 2nd pair, the CM said "Did you ASK for the first ones to go out via _____?" I said no...she said "OK well I can send them out via regular mail if you want and there is no charge"...I told her that would be fine...she then also refunded me the $10 shipping charge from the first order. I thought that was really nice of her. I don't know if it was something she was supposed to do, but I appreciated it.

I am in full panic mode now, the MK schedule has changed and it appears the first party won't be until the 14th. Not so sure we are going to be able to go. We were trying to make it a cheap trip but my 2 yo will turn 3 before we can go if they don't change the dates back. We won't be able to stay at the Poly and we will have to pay for her tickets and food. I could cry ; ( Someone please tell me Disney is just messing with my mind and they will change the calander again?

Just got off the phone with a wonderful Cast Member who asked if we were planning on attending the F&W Festival or MNSSHP. When I told him yes, he told me all about the F&W Festival and also read off the dates of MNSSHP for while we are there. (We will be arriving in WDW October 7 and leaving midday on the 12th.) He confirmed that while we are there, there will be parties on October 7, 8 and 11. He said that tickets would probably go on sale the very end of April or the first week of May. :thumbsup2

I am with you too. We arrive on Sept 18 and will be going to MK for the day and Chef Mickey's for dinner. When we make our plans for our trips we avoid EMH, Fantasmic (unless we plan on attending), and any other events that we plan on not doing. We are going to the MNSSHP on the 21st. Anyways with the change I am hoping it is not going to be a mad house at MK on the 18th. I looked about changing our plans around but there are not any ADRs for the places we want. Just have to wait and see.

I'm curious....do MNSSHP tickets sell out real fast? We are planning on going the first night of the party (9/14) and this will be our first MNSSHP. We went to MVMCP in December (had a blast BTW) and they still had tickets to sell the day of. I was just curious if this is a more popular event and if I should be on the phone with Disney on the date the tickets are going to be going on sale, or could I wait if I wanted to.

No, it doesn't sell out that fast. Even Halloween night usually doesn't sell out till the end of August, beginning of September.
Some don't sell out till the day of.

Tickets for Halloween night tend to sell out fairly early.
But opening night has a high likelyhood of selling out too, especially this one, since it's starting later than expected. Anyone who had planned a trip that week hoping to catch MNSSHP will go to this one if it still hit within their trip.

I will be at Disney World with my DD this year from October 28-November 2. I don't know if we should do Magic Kingdom the same day as we do MNSSHP or not. We'd like to be there on October 31st, but I heard it is very crowded that night. So, we might do Magic Kingdom and MNSSHP on another night and do Downtown Disney on October 31st. Don't know....anyone have any thoughts for me? Or, is there somewhere better to be on Halloween night??

Do you guys think if they do infact have the two earlier parties that seem to be back on track that opening night will sell out early? I don't think I can buy tickets until July or August and we want to go on the 3rd. (that is of course if the calander is right now)

We're planning on attending the party on Oct. 8, but not planning on buying tickets until the week before the party at the earliest. It's a hard ticket, non-refundable event, and I'm really looking forward to it, but not if it means attending in the rain. So if there's a strong chance of rain or other bad weather when we're getting ready to head to Florida, we'll find something else to do that evening with the money we would have spent on MNSSHP.

We did do MK the same day as the party. We had a late lunch, went back to the resort for a swim and shower and headed back. It's a long day if you're up for it. Especially if you do the party on Halloween. It's your call but, if you're not up for the huge crowds on Halloween night, I might pick another night and go check out DTD on Halloween. I don't recall if anything else goes on for the holiday. I know Fort Wilderness has a haunted hayride but, I don't know anything about it.

We just booked a Sept trip. We are going 09/17 - 09/26 and are planning on doing the MNSSHP party a couple of times. We have never been in Sept so we have never done the party.
He have not purchased tickets yet for the week we are going. We are going on a Tues and Thurs so I figured mid week shouldn't sell out. Do the tickets for mid week parties sell out? Will WDW refund if the parks close? Is there enough to do to warrant 2 nights or can it all be seen and done in one night?
Thanks!

The only nights that really sell out are Halloween night and the couple before that. During your travel dates, you should be fine. Will WDW refund if the parks close? The parks won't close. Party goes on rain or shine. Is there enough to do to warrant 2 nights or can it all be seen and done in one night? Depends a little. Are you planning on trick or treating or just there for the fireworks, parades and shows? You should be fine with one night. You can purchase advanced tickets for one night and if you decide you'd like to go again after the first party, you shouldn't have a problem purchasing tickets for another during you trip. You could definitely fill both your nights but, I wouldn't say it was necessary.
Thanks!

If you want to see all the characters, it's almost impossible to do in one night unless it's a really slow night. I doubt that will be the case even in late September. Expect it to be very busy and have long lines for each character group. Many of those groups switch off so you have to do the line twice to catch them all. Mickey and Minnie are separate lines. Snow White with the Dwarfs requires getting in line before the party and lots of waiting.
Wanna skip the characters? Then one night is enough. We did 2 nights 9/29 and 10/1 last year and still didn't do it all. It was VERY busy the night of the 29th. 10/1 was better, but still busy.

Just be in the SW line WAY early. They come out for 30 minutes, then gone for 30, etc. You don't want to be waiting through one of those breaks, and the line stays long all night.
Oddly enough, not tons of characters in special Halloween costumes. Mickey and Minnie are, as are Donald and Daisy at the dance party.... the Pooh characters....... that's about it I think.

Is there a list somewhere of the characters that are usually out during the party and where they are located? Do the villains still come down after the show for pictures? How long are they usually out?
:confused3
I've been to MNSSHP at both WDW and DLP. I loved it at WDW. I dont know if it was just on the night that I was there, but just to let you know, there was no professional photographer for the SW and the Seven Dwarfs character meet and greet and they were limiting the number of photos you could take, for example, I wanted a photo on my own with them and so did my mum, but they made us go on together, not that I minded, its a nice picture.
I can remember at DLP the map that they give you marks were the characters will be, and I'm sure it had the times for when they come out and go back in. I assume it was the same at WDW.

Yes, they come down after most shows. There was one they did not, I think the one right before the fireworks. They were out for a bit, maybe 15 to 20 minutes... not certain of that though...

We went 9/29 and 10/1 last year and there was no photopass photographer there either night. My friend went 2 nights a week later and there was.
We were 3rd or 4th in line and were able to take pictures of just my daughter as well as both of us together. I would never do this line later in the night. Be there when it starts forming, 6:15 or 6:30 for a 7:30 appearance. Later in the evening you even have to wait through their breaks on the half hour, soaking up even MORE party time......

is this with most of the characters photo opportunity?

SW & the 7D are the top photo draw of the party. Keep in mind the party doesn't start until 7. We had been in the park all day, so the chance to just sit for a while and regroup was just fine with us. If you had just arrived, I could see this being a real issue. Most of the early waiters were swapping off with a spouse taking kids to do stuff. Some even took the kids to see Pooh and friends in Halloween party gear at 7 when it started.
It seems excessive, but I would't even consider doing the line later in the evening. It just never dies down.

They were back in Fantasyland against the fence between Pooh's Playful spot and the entrance to Toontown. Since that area is now blocked off with construction walls, I have to assume they will be somewhere different this year. I'm sure if you watch the postings here after 9/14 (the first party) you'll know where to look. Here's something to get you in the mood! :cool1::cool1:

I am keeping an eye out for reports or info regarding the changes that will occur this year for the party with the changes going on at MK. From what I have seen from prior maps, there are 8-9 character meet spots and there were 2 dance parties. I am wondering how that will change with the renovations.
Oh, and it is true that you can get pics of the characters in their Halloween costumes at MK and DHS as well, not just at MNSSHP?

I received my tickets in the mail yesterday and did a little happy dance!!

Hi! Most will sign, all except the ones you want to sign that is.... :rotfl2: No signatures from Snow White with the Dwarfs and no signatures from the villains in front of the castle after the stage show. But at least that keeps the line moving quickly! :thumbsup2

We will be there on Sept.28th, I am SO excited!! It will be my second, but it is more like my first, the first time we went it downpoured all night... :( SO Snow White and 7D must do! We are trying to think of some costume ideas, We thought of the DD9 Wendy, DS6 Peter Pan, and DD2 Tink. Or we thought of just doing matching shirts because the kids dont really want to be those characters for actual Halloween! what do you guys think?

This is our first visit to WDW, so first MNSSHP! So excited! Not sure what date we are going yet, but it will be a week night so hopefully not to crowded. Our vacation dates ar 09/09-09/23 so I have a few dates to choose from.
I am completely stumped when it comes to costume ideas! I wanted to do something coordinating for all 4 of us (me, DH and our 2 sons, 3 years old and 7 months old) but also with a Disney theme, any suggestions? May just have to go with a family of pirates pirate:, since those are easy costumes to come by and not too hot.

Does anyone have a good touring plan for a family with young kids? We will be going for the first time Sept. 21, and I have a 9 year old, 7 year old, 5 year old, and 3 year old. TIA
My kids stayed up until midnight for new years this past year, so I am hoping they will do it again for MNSSHP.

We are going the same day---
some of our stuff-- we have a 10:30 ADR for Lilo & Stitch at Poly. Get up and get to rope drop at MK and only go in and get FP for Space Mountain then head to breakfast. We will take the 4 year old back to the room while the rest of out party will get FP for Buzz lightyear.
Will ride what we can until the party starts- grab a CS meal before then.
we will let jada swim til about 12:30 then nap- get to the park about 4pm. Ride our FP rides. 2nd parade and last Villians show. (I hope they meet and greet after the last show-- cant find information about that.
I am not liking to stand in a line to meet Snow White with the 7 dwarfs for 2 hours.

How many kids do you have? Are you dressing up? Maybe we will run into you all there!!
We are just going to hang out by the pool in the morning because I am going to have to try to get my little ones to take an early nap. My boys have Pirate's League appts. for 2:00, so I need to get DD down for a nap by 11:30. Yikes! Who knows, maybe they will just go all day without a nap? She does that a lot nowadays. I also have a BBB appt at 3:00 for my DD who will be 3 1/2, and then we have dinner at CRT at 4:00. I just don't know what I am going to do after that. I guess we will ride some rides and see characters and do a dance party until hallowishes at 9:30, villian show at 10:05, and the second parade at 10:30. Then we will do some trick or treating as long as the kids are up to it. Does that sound feasable? I know the older two can make it, it's the younger two who may crash, but I will just take a double stroller for them so if they do fall asleep they can sleep in the stroller.

we only have one grand daughter-- she is 4.
Yep, we will be dressing up for the party. Jadas favorite is Cruella. So we got her a costume for Cruella DeVille. and we will dress like damalations.
There is 6 adults.

So excited for MNSSHP! This will be our first and we're super excited to try it. We love MVMCP so we have a feeling this one will become a family favorite, too!!
I do have a question, however. Forgive me if this has been asked and I missed it. When entering the party, is there a central location to pick up trick-or-treat bags, do we bring our own or are they distributed all over the park? Thanks!!

There's a lot of people that actually love MNSSHP more than MVMCP! So you will definitely have a great time!
If I remember correctly, the bags are given out near the entrance to MK. You can also bring in your own if you'd like.
Last year we missed picking up the bags but, a VERY nice young girl and her sister gave us theirs since they had other bags to use.

It's one of my big concerns, that it'll rain during our one night at the party. How did you handle it? What did they do about the trick or treating? Did the meet and greets happen inside? Were there still dance parties? I'm concerned that if it rains, we're going to be paying extra for a night of riding the rides that we'll be already riding during our other days there. :confused3

I'm definitely one of the people that likes MNSSHP better than MVMCP.
I went with two friends last year on 11/1, and DH and I will be there this year during that time, so we decided to go 11/1 again, since it was a great time to go!
We had an amazing time and I think did pretty much everything!
We met the princess and princes in their tent. Also, while we were back there, we got to meet Susie and Perla from Cinderella. :goodvibes
We met snow white and the seven dwarves- I think we waited 35ish minutes total.
There were photopass people with the princesses and the dwarves, and we also had CMs take pix w/ our cameras as well.
Saw Hallowishes, Boo To You Parade and the Villains stage show.
Also got in plenty of rides, the best was Splash Mountain and Haunted Mansion between 1130 and midnight. Sooo much fun!! Can't wait to do it all again this year!!!
Here are a few of our pictures from last year:

After the Villains stage show we met Malificent, Cruella, and Jafar.
Most of my pictures from the Boo To You Parade didn't turn out well, but here's one of some of the Pooh characters

cOULD YOU GIVE ME MORE details about the meet and greet after the villians.
How does it work- i know no autographs-- just photos.
do you pick a villian and just get inline-- or do you move through all of them-one at a time>?
but how long did it take you to get stand and wait for the above pics?

Yup, just photos. Yup, we chose which villains we most wanted to meet, and got in line by who we wanted to meet the most, since they obviously weren't going to be out forever...I think we went to like a 10:00 villains stage show, and the parade started at 10:30, so they were only down taking pix for like 15 minutes. But each villain had its own line. Some were just wandering around, creating magic :wizard: because they had no line. It was adorable to watch. Each line took maybe 5 minutes, it went pretty fast, due to not being able to do autographs, and they pushed us through quickly.

did you know where they were going to set the line?
We are a party of 7-- grand daughter wants to be cruella and the rest of us will be the dalmations-- cruella is our villian of choice.
So how would we know where her line will be?

hmm, I'm not sure if I remember if we knew, or if we just waited for them to come out before we got in line. The lines were decently close together. Unless you're there on a very busy night you should have no problem meeting like three villains. You guys with cruella will make an adorable picture!!

I followed closely to a lot of stuff about MNSSHP the last two years.
Last year there were quite a few parties that were rained on but the party still went on.
I think they refund money if they cant do the parades and fireworks.
