I have just finished my shirts and wanted to know how many wash them before wearing. And do you regular wash or vinegar wash? What has been your experiences? Do I have to worry about them running? Thanks for the help!

It depends on what transfer paper you are using.

A vinegar wash is supposed to help the color set so that it doesn't run if it gets wet while you are wearing it from rain or a water ride at one of the parks.

Depending on the transfer paper you used...you could run the risk of the image cracking, fading or running by putting it through a wash/dry cycle.

It might help others if you let us know what brand you are using.

I used mostly Amy's dark but I did have an Avery dark transfer and 1 Avery light transfer.

Thanks

I posted this same question after finishing my first shirts. Amy advised no need to wash since the shirts were washed prior to ironing on the transfer.

I never thought about the possible bleeding of colors when they get wet, I may just have to run them through to give myself peace of mind.

If it is Amy's transfers...you shouldn't have any problem with them bleeding. I didn't wash mine since they were prewashed and it wasn't in her directions and I didn't have any problems when they got wet at the parks. The only one that did bleed was one that my 3 year old spilled lemonade all over. The acidity of the lemons caused the bleeding.

You put about a cup of vinegar into the wash the first time you wash the t-shirts with the transfer on them and it is supposed to help the colors to set. You do not have to do this step with Amy's transfers.
