Couple of Boardwalk questions?

1. How do you get into Epcot? and how does this work at Rope Drop?- Can you go to the entrance to Epcot from Boardwalk before Rope drop or do you have to go the front of Epcot

2. We have reserved a one bedroom in the villas- what building or floor or anything you would pick?

3. What are the Counter Service options you would pick?

I guess a few questions!
thanks
Margaret

You cross the International Gateway and enter epcot in the back end of the countries. Maybe 10 minute walk from BWI. Counter options are scarce at BWI area but never bothered me really. Bakery has sandwhiches and the area near Storm Along Bay at BC has aSLOW counter service area...Other than that, not much....

The quickest way to get to Epcot is by walking the 5 min walk. There is a boat that runs to Epcot but it is definitely much slower than walking. Not sure how early entry works since we don't use it for Epcot. I would think you would be let in and then held up somewhere by the walkway between world showcase and the front of Epcot - not sure though. We have never requested a specific room. We have been on the 2nd floor, 3rd floor, and 4th floor. I like the third floor best. Most people say they request close to the elevator. We don't care where we are since we just use the closest stairway to get to the pool or walkways to the parks. If you are on the dining plan you can get counter service at the bakery. They have really good sandwiches at lunch. You could also walk over to the BC and they have a counter service outside by the pool. You also have the option to walk into Epcot and take advantage of all the counter service they have. If you aren't on the dining plan there is a bar at the pool that serves some sandwiches. You will really enjoy the BWV - they have been renovated and are really great. The full kitchen is really nice to be able to have a quick breakfast if you want and to have snacks/beverages handy. The washer/dryer is also great so you don't have to take as much and can return home with clean clothes. If you use any of the dishes, housekeeping will load the dishwasher for you and run it for you every day. They also provide tide for the washer.

Well, for #1, you head out onto the Boardwalk itself, turn right and cross the bridge. Then follow the pathway to the right and you're at the International Gateway (comes out right next to the UK)

At rope drop, you'll be coming into Future World from the WS side. There's a walkway just past Canada that would lead you to Soarin if that was your first pick in the morning:

That's not the map with the colored pathways but should give you an idea. (It's one of Robo's maps...just one of a great collection from what I see)

We just did Rope Drop from the IG side last month -- first time since they started allowing World Showcase side entries to go all the way up to the fountain in Future World. It was great -- there were only about 6 of us at our rope which was right near Character Connection - everyone else was on the other side! We ended up first behind the Soarin' CMs on the stampede.

Did you book with member points or through CRO? Member points reservations are for standard, pool/garden or boardwalk views. CRO does not specify a view, you usually get pool/garden.

The walk is exactly the same as the boat....I've left the dock area at the same time the boat is leaving....we arrive at the same point at the same time...takes about 8 mins or so. It's an easy walk to the International Gateway. Then, you will most likely be able to enter WS just before rope drop....then you will be held at the fountain area, the same as those who have entered through the front of the park.
Counter service options are not good at BW..you have the bakery which offers very limited sandwich stuff, and some salads. That's one of the drawbacks of staying at BW.
If you have booked directly through Disney, using cash vs. member points through DVC, your view will most likely be of a pool/landscaping, canal. This is a preferred view. The boardwalk views are held for those booking on points.

I have found the walk to be quicker than the boat, even when both start at same time. And, of course, with the boat, you have to factor in wait time and loading and unloading time, so the walk is definitely the quicker option.

I have to say that I did leave at the exact same time the boat did...and reached the passengers were getting off the boat as I walked by the dock. And on a different trip, my friend and I tried to get on the boat, at the Intl Gateway..but they had just closed the doors and wouldn't let us on. They told us another boat would be there in about 15 or so mins. Nope, we yelled back...we'll walk and beat you to DHS!!! That isn't going to happen was their response. Well, as my friend and I trucked along, at a pretty good clip since we're both pretty fast walkers, the boat had pulled into the BW dock and passengers were getting off as we reached that dock area.
You must be a very fast walker!!!

We walked to Epcot early in the week and took the boat later when our legs were tired. Both were extremely convenient. It was nice to be close the countries entrance at Epcot b/c we went to UK Yorkshire Fish shop a couple times for CS.

Are you on the DP? If so, Boardwalk Bakery has really great sandwiches. If you're not on the DP, there's a pizza counter and some boardwalk style stands which serve corndogs and other carnival style junk food. We had a meal at the Brew Pub, which had good salads. We also tried ESPN, which was predictable but good food.

Just so there is no misunderstanding...you don't have to be on the DP in order to get sandwiches at the Bakery. I've bought some yummy sandwiches in there without being on the ddp. Now, they don't have an extensive sandwich menu...a few panini-like things, but they are good.

Is the point of the prior poster's message differentiating between the Bakery and the pizza stand, etc. that the Bakery will count as CS on the DP and the other places do not take the DP? We are using the QSDP for our April vacation and are staying at BWV, so would appreciate clarification on this.

Thanks for all the great info!

Most likely that was the point. The bakery does offer things that are covered on the dining plan...the hot dog and/or pizza stand do not do the ddp.

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I mean that you can use DP CS credits at the Bakery and not the other places. You cannot use DP credits at the pizza window or other carnival food stands. All the food at the Bakery can be purchased with cash and you do not have to be on the DP to eat there.

BW is so classy and I will stay there one day. Food on the other hand there is bone of contention.
