Right now, we are planning on going to WDW July 4th-8th.
because we are coming form california, we are not landing until about 9PM. Right now we have a room at the crowne plaza for $82 near the airport and we were planning on taking an early ME bus to the CBR to start our stay there.

We cant afford to add on another night at CBR especially since my PIN code that i got is not good on the 4th so we were thinking of staying at Pop on the 4th. Its $129 for Pop as opposed to $82 for crowne plaza.

is it worth $50 to get on property the first night even though we would be switching resorts on the 5th?

If your scheduled to land at 9pm, I wouldn't spend the money for the extra night on property. If you took the ME to POP once you arrived, you could get stuck in a lot of post holiday fireworks traffic just trying to get to your resort.

I think you have a pretty good plan right now. Get yourself settled and rested the night of the 4th, then get up early and head to Disney! You will probably still be on "west coast time" in the morning, so you have the potential to make rope drop at the park of your choice.

I would be tempted do it all on property, yes . . . but perhaps someone with ME experience will post . . . that's what makes me nervous about staying off property the first night. You might "waste" time getting there on Day 2 via ME whereas if you stayed at Pop, you have two choices:

1) check out of your room on the morning of day 2, have Pop hold your luggage until end of the day? mid-afternoon break? Then return to Pop to collect your luggage and transfer to CBR. (Note, you might want to just take a taxi to CBR since there are no resort-resort transfers
OR
2) check out of your room on the morning of day 2, transfer immediately to CBR, "check in" even though your room will probably not be ready, then have CBR hold your luggage while you explore the parks. When you're done for the day, or on break, your room should be ready!

we have a lot of experience with ME but never that late at night. we usually land around 9AM (we used to live in virginia) and the longest its ever taken us on ME is about 90 minutes from landing to checkin.

if we have a package at CBR with tickets and dining plan, we have to check in at CBR before going to the parks so we have our tickets and dining plan right?

Heck no! Stay off-site that first night. You can arrive at your on-property hotel at 7:00 AM and get your tickets long before your room is available so you aren't delayed in getting your day in the parks started. Then they can take your mobile number and text you when your room is ready. Have a great trip!
