I want to do some research and find out exactly what the DVC is and what it entails, cost, etc. Is there a link on this site for the DVC?

We have several DVC forums on the DISboards; you can start with these:

DVC - Operations
DVC - Planning
DVC - Mousecellaneous

I'd also recommend ordering the DVD and information packet from the Disney Vacation Club (http://www.disneyvacationclub.com) site.

here is some research material to get you started:

here is a link to a basic DVC FAQ. (http://allears.net/acc/dvc.htm)

here is another FAQ (http://www.mousesavers.com/dvc.html#dvc)

here is a link to the point charts for the different DVC resorts (http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-vacation-club/DVCpoints.shtml) to figure out how many points you need.

buying a DVC is like buying a car: you pay upfront for the car...then you also pay annual costs (called maintenance fees or annual dues for DVC) to maintain the car for oil changes/washes, etc.

for pricing/buying information:

here is one link for resale listings (http://www.dvc-resales.com/dvclisting.cfm).
